‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Season 7: Episode 19 ‘Drama Detox’

The ladies do some yoga while on a retreat in the Philippines in The Real Housewives of Atlanta

Christian Post Report – On last Sunday’s episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” the ladies take Dr. Jeff’s advice to go on a retreat to fix their relationships and they fly to the Philippines, and Nene stays behind as she meets with the creative director of Broadway’s “Cinderella.”

Nene is in New York and meeting with the creative director of “Cinderella.” In a mock British accent, Nene reads her lines and later, when she’s told that she has to improve, she tells him, “I will bring it.” She also said that she would like to use two accents for her character. He tells her that she better “bring it” because her name is on the marquee.

After a 16-hour flight, Claudia, Kenya, Porsha, Demetria, Kandi, Cynthia, and Phaedra arrive in the Philippines. Claudia takes them to a vegan detox resort, and she assigns the biggest room to Phaedra because she’s been having a hard time lately, and Phaedra is openly touched by the gesture. The rest of the ladies are also impressed with their accommodations.

The next morning, Claudia invites Phaedra to lunch so that Phaedra will know that “this isn’t a set up.” Claudia tells her that she too went through a painful divorce.

“I dealt with it in not a great way,” said Claudia. “I drank a lot of wine. I was depressed. I had suicidal thoughts.”

Phaedra appreciates her support, but is not quite willing to talk about Apollo yet. However, she’s glad that Claudia sincerely reached out, and the two of them ended up connecting well and laughing.

Later, Phaedra and Kandi meet for pedicures. They talk about how they both got hurt over miscommunications, but in the end they agree that they’re true friends and that they should stick together. Kandi also hopes that Phaedra can find it in her heart to forgive Kenya.

Over a group dinner of smuggled chicken and alcohol, Claudia tries her best to help others mend fences. Cynthia tries to apologize to Phaedra for confronting her about Mr. Chocolate a few weeks ago, but Phaedra ignores her. This causes Porsha to giggle.

Claudia calls Porsha out for giggling, and Kenya and Demetria accuse Porsha of undoing all the efforts the other ladies made so far. Exasperated, Claudia stands up and clinks a glass with her spoon to get their attention, but she ends up breaking it.

Later, Kenya says that she wants to mend her relationship with Phaedra after Apollo lied about Kenya sending him flirty text messages. Phaedra still has her doubts, so Kenya asks her if she’s willing to have a private conversation, and Phaedra agrees. The women cheer and toast to “doing the work.”

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. on Bravo.

Galaxy Note 4 Reuters/File

Samsung President DJ Lee presents the new phablet Galaxy Note 4 at the Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 event ahead of the IFA Electronics show in Berlin, September 3, 2014.

Christian Post Report – Android 5.0 Lollipop is considered as the cleanest and fastest Android version in history. Unfortunately, even version 5.0 has its flaws, problems and issues.

Google has developed the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, which has already rolled out in selected Nexus devices.

However, the newest major update would reportedly bring in new TouchWiz UI features to one of the most popular devices to launch in 2014 – the Galaxy Note 4.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the latest update for Android could potentially include the latest version of TouchWiz UI for the Galaxy phablet.

Samsung’s latest OS creation is the TouchWiz UX, which made its debut with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

TouchWiz UX will provide a number of new features, such as the appearance of dialer and camera shortcuts on the phone’s lockscreen.

The new Samsung UI would also include SmartLock, a feature that will prevent the device from “locking” whenever the smartphone is connected to a “trusted” network.

The brand new Galaxy Apps Store will also be able to offer various themes and designs to choose from.

On the other hand, the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop would fix some bugs and errors, while improving overall performance and security.

For people who have their own Galaxy Note 4 from Samsung, you just wait and see until the latest Lollipop version and TouchWiz UX becomes available.

Why Did Jesus Send Mary? ‘A.D. The Bible Continues’ Star Chipo Chung Talks Role as ‘the Apostles of the Apostles’

Babou Ceesay as John (L), Greta Scacchi as Mother Mary (C), and Chipo Chung as Mary Magdalene.

Christian Post Report – NEW YORK — Mary Magdalene has been presented by both the church and popular culture as either a prostitute or as Christ’s love interest, although the Bible shows that she was neither. Chipo Chung, the Zimbabwean British actress taking on the iconic role in “A.D. The Bible Continues,” recently gave her take on one of Jesus’ most noted female followers.

“I think Mary was one of Jesus’ most important disciples and I think that’s a story that’s not often told,” Chung told The Christian Post Tuesday evening at the television series’ premiere reception at The Highline Hotel in New York City.

“I think a lot of the stories about her say she was a prostitute and then after the Da Vinci Code people said she was a girlfriend. But when you look at the actual material and where she was, she was there at the resurrection, she was the first witness and as many of the early Christian writings said, she was the apostle of apostles.”

That is partly what makes Mary controversial — she and other female followers of Christ were the first to see his empty tomb and hear the announcement from what the Bible describes as angels that Jesus had been resurrected from the dead. But it was to Mary alone, a woman, that the resurrected Jesus appeared, according to the Gospel accounts.

In addition to pop culture portrayals and speculation, Christians have for centuries, perhaps thanks to a sixth century pope, confused Mary with the sinful woman who washed Jesus’ feet with her tears, wiped them with her hair, and anointed them with perfume. She has also been confused with Lazarus’ sister, Mary, who sat and listened to Jesus teach during a visit to their home.

There is nothing in the Gospel accounts about Mary being a prostitute or engaging in a romantic relationship with Jesus. The New Testament writers say she “was called Magdalene,” possibly linking her to the town of Magdala. She is also identified as being healed by Jesus from “seven demons,” and being among the women who financially supported his ministry.

The accounts from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John paint Mary Magdalene as a devoted follower of Christ who remained by his side, even at his gruesome crucifixion, and was commissioned by Jesus himself to proclaim to his “brothers” the disciples (who were in hiding at the time) that he had come back to life. This act by Christ of sending Mary as his primary witness to the disciples would have been unusual, considering the value of a woman’s testimony, Jewish or otherwise, in the first century Roman empire.

This is the woman Chung has taken on in Mark Burnett and Roma Downey’s “A.D. The Bible Continues.”

Chung, who has appeared on stage, in various movies and in popular television shows such as the BBC series “Doctor Who,” told CP that she “grew up Catholic and went to Catholic school.” The 37-year-old actress suggested that Jesus chose Mary to deliver the good news to the disciples for a particular reason.

“I think it’s a testament to the fact that he believed that women were spiritually equal to men and fully capable of the kind of courage and the kind of tenacity that we need to survive in a difficult world,” Chung said. “She was there when the others weren’t, she was there when the others were hiding. Somehow that gets glossed over by all this talk of ‘was she a prostitute.'”

She added, “I think it’s difficult for a woman to work in a man’s world, and I think that’s why we are often slandered. So it’s a great privilege to attempt to redress that story.”

Asked about Mary Magdalene’s relationship with the disciples, who did not believe her initial report of Jesus’ resurrection, Chung said that “it’s a story about friendship. And it’s about a small group of people who changed the world, and how do you keep that together.”

The Zimbabwean, London-based “A.D.” star went a step further, suggesting that Mary is the glue in a sense that holds the rattled apostles together.

“I think of families, I think of organizations and social movements, women are the ones who bind, they are the advisers who steer the leaders who are often men. They have a steadfastness to them and they also speak truth, and that’s what she does,” Chung said.

Based on CP’s viewing of the first episode in the 12-part NBC series, Chung delivers a Mary Magdalene who is a consoling yet confrontational force, comforting the disciples but also holding them accountable and putting them in their place.

In one scene, following Christ’s crucifixion, an emotionally distressed Peter (Adam Levy) finds the apostle John (Babou Ceesay) and Mary Magdalene (and Jesus’ mother Mary sleeping nearby) in a home. After embracing him, Mary asks, “Where were you, Peter?” — Even after hearing his reasons for denying association with Jesus after his arrest.

Peter does not give an immediate response. Instead, amid tears, he asks John, “Is He dead?”

“What difference does any of this now make if He’s dead?” Peter continues, adding that the disciples essentially wasted the last three years of their lives following Jesus.

Mary tells him with a bit of fire behind her tongue, “His mother believes He will rise.”

Peter, holding his left hand, responds, “I would give this arm to believe the same.”

Mary’s response to the apostle who Jesus famously renamed Peter, the Rock? — “I never had you for a coward. Never.”

The first episode of “A.D. The Bible Continues” (“The Tomb Is Open”) airs at 9 p.m. ET Easter Sunday, April 5 on NBC. The series picks up where 2013’s massively successful mini-series “The Bible” left off, exploring how Jesus’ core followers grappled with his death, spread his teachings and established a religion that today claims more than 2 billion adherents around the world.

Christian Post Report – Sunday’s iHeartRadio Music Awards promised a lot of surprise collaborations, and fans were indeed blown away when Taylor Swift turned up to play acoustic guitar to accompany Madonna as she sang her new single “Ghosttown”.

The duo started their performance sitting down on stools before rocking out with a spirited version of “Rebel Heart.” Madonna later thanked Swift with a kiss on the cheek, and the 56-year-old later reappeared to present Swift with the Song of the Year award, which she won for “Shake it Off.”

A source tells E! News that the friendship between the two stars began after Madonna praised Swift’s songwriting skills in interviews. Swift, who has been a long-time fan of Madonna, took the compliments to heart and gushed over the iconic singer.

And also, people just want to give her a hard time all the time because they think she’s a goody-two-shoes, so of course I want to embrace her.”

Meanwhile, another source tells E! News that the Swift and Madonna’s performance was so tightly under wraps that many members of their camps were unaware of any partnership until just hours before the pair took the stage.

After their performance, the singers took to their Instagram page to post pictures. Madonna captioned hers, “My new favorite guitar player! Thank you Taylor! Just you and I in a #ghosttown #rebelhearts.”

A few minutes later, Swift also posted a picture of them on the photo sharing app and captioned it, “I might be okay but I’m NOT FINE AT ALL. #MyFangirlLife #MadonnaAndTaylor.”

Kierra, 27, is known for her powerhouse voice in the gospel music industry. As the daughter of Grammy Award-winning singer Karen Clark Sheard of the gospel music group The Clark Sisters, and Bishop J. Drew Sheard, she has an ear for spiritual music.

After Kierra witnessed Williams bringing singers Kelly Rowland and Beyonce Knowles to perform at the 30th Annual Stellar Awards, she took to Twitter to speak about why she was inspired by it.

“What’s most inspiring about @realmichellew is that she really let’s nothing stop her! It doesn’t matter what people say, or the comparisons people make…she stands with Jesus and she has taken Him with her boldly on every platform. You show me exactly why God makes certain choices in who He chooses to go certain places.”

Kierra said Michelle made history at the Stellar’s this year, insisting her fellow singer would never be forgotten.

Some how she’s managed to do both!”

“I’m really kind of spilling the beans about my spiritual walk without giving all of my business. I’m letting people into my life, letting them know that I am human,” she told The Christian Post. “I’m letting people know, hey I may struggle with the same thing you do but God is working on me and it’s a process. Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Fight 2015 News: Justin Bieber Confirmed to Escort Mayweather Into Ring

Pop singer Justin Bieber will be at undefeated American fighter Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s side when he walks into the ring to meet Manny Pacquiao on May 2.

Christian Post Report – American professional boxer and currently five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber has announced he will be making his entrance at the Las Vegas MGM Grand Arena on May 2 with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. when the pound-for-pound boxing champion makes his way up to the ring for his long awaited superfight with Filipino fighter, Manny Pacquiao.

Insiders are saying Bieber, who is said to be close friends with Mayweather, has recently been photographed with the boxer, most recently when he arrived uninvited to the Mayweather – Pacquiao press conference last week, posing with the American fighter during a photo op.

The pop star, who has been a magnet for trouble and intrigue in the last few years, appears to be making an attempt to clean up his act by allying himself with the Money May. He made his first walk up to the ring with the 38-year-old professional boxer during his 2012 bout with Puerto Rican fighter Miguel Cotto.

Mayweather is set to meet with Pacquiao to defend his welterweight world title in what is said to be the most awaited and richest fight in boxing history. Sports insiders are predicting gate sales alone will be bringing in an estimated $74 million.

21-year-old singer-songwriter Bieber may not get another chance to have this kind of spotlight on his brand after having been the subject of a Comedy Central official roast publicized on national television, cementing his “most hated celebrity” status.

Following his frequent run-ins with the law ranging from vandalism to assault, former teen heartthrob Bieber’s siding with the “highest paid sportsman in the world” with a 47-0 win-loss record may help repair his tattered reputation.

Pakistan Indicts 16 Christians for Killing Two Church-Bombing Suspects; 90 Injured Churchgoers in Critical Condition

Pakistani Christians (Photo: Reuters/Mohsin Raza)

People from the Christian community attend a protest to condemn suicide bombings which took place outside two churches in Lahore, March 16, 2015. Suicide bombings outside two churches in Lahore killed 14 people and wounded nearly 80 others during services on Sunday in attacks claimed by a faction of the Pakistani Taliban.

The Anti Terrorism Court in Lahore, Pakistan, has indicted 16 Christians who it says were responsible for the killing and burning of two terror suspects believed to have been involved in the March 15 suicide-bombing of two churches in Youhanabad, which killed 17 people. Non-profit groups have meanwhile highlighted that women and children are among the 90 or so critically injured churchgoers that need urgent help.

Fides News Agency reported that while 16 Christians have been accused of murdering the two Muslim suspects, another 12 have also been indicted for damage to state property in the riots following the attack on the churches.

These numbers are down from the 100 or so people who were detained last week following the riots.

Thousands of Christians took to the streets of Lahore demanding better treatment from the government, accusing officials of not doing enough to protect them.

Some are said to have taken justice into their own hands by beating and burning to death two men who were being held by police in connection with the bombings, which hit the Christ Church and Catholic Church of Youhanabad Christian Colony.

Non-governmental organizations “Voice of Christians International” and “Bright Future Society,” meanwhile, shared an appeal for the 90 or so people heavily injured in the bomb blasts: “We urgently need to ensure health care, material and psychological assistance to the injured people after the attacks on the churches in Youhanabad.”

“There are also women and children among the victims of this brutal episode,” added Samuel Payara, director of VOCI. “We urgently need to provide material and psychological assistance, as well as food for 25 people. The victims are in very critical condition. Their families also need food.”

The Pakistan Christian Post added that many of the Christians who were affected by the bombing are afraid to return to their homes, because of fears that police will continue to arrest Christians on mere suspicion for involvement in the attack of the two church-bombing suspects.

Another Christian charity, the Centre for Legal Aid, Assistance and Settlement, has submitted a writ petition to the Lahore High Court against the police and chief minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif. The group is seeking to apply for bail for the Christians so that they can be freed.

“Since CLAAS submitted the petition, the police has freed dozens of Christians who were mistreated and even tortured,” the report added. “They are in such a state of paranoia that until now they have not been in a position to record their statements regarding the abuse they suffered at the hands of the police.”
