‘NCIS’ Season 12: Episode 18 Recap ‘Status Update’

NCIS CBS/ NCIS

McGee and Delilah on NCIS

Christian Post Report – This week on “NCIS,” the NCIS team works with Delilah, McGee’s girlfriend, in a joint operation to catch someone who murdered a thief in a marine’s house, and the NCIS discovers a calling card of a terror group Delilah and the Department of Defense has been tracking.

“Status Update” starts with the team being called to investigate the murder of a woman in a house that belongs to Marine Sergeant Holt Perkins, and while everybody assumed that the victim is his wife, everyone is puzzled when Perkins appears to be relieved upon getting a glimpse of the body.

It turns out that the woman is not his wife at all. The victim is a thief named Mallory Bleeker, who targeted the house because Perkin’s wife posted on her online profile that she’ll be in a spa for four days and her husband was deployed.

Ducky finds a calling card in the victim’s bra, and while Mallory’s brother could not identify the logo on the card, McGee recognizes it and calls Delilah.

Delilah tells McGee that the symbol belongs to a terror group named Dragon’s Tooth. She has been tracking them for a long time, and she says that the group targets family members who post that their family member is deployed. Delilah says that she and her task force leader, Rafi, are particularly after Omer Malik. Omer happens to be following Perkins’ wife’s profile, and Malik also happens to be related to the accomplices in the bombing that paralyzed Delilah.

Abby discovers that Malik is supposed to meet someone named Pistachio, so the team goes to Malik’s apartment, only to find his roommate there. They set up their own op, and when Pistachio arrives, they discover that it’s Delilah and she’s been undercover.

Apparently, Malik has been making tapes of himself going to military houses and doing things to make people wonder if someone has been in their home. In one video, Malik is in Perkins’ uniform and is saluting the camera.

Malik follows McGee to Delilah’s safehouse, and while the two are talking about their relationship, Malik knocks on the door. McGee opens it without thinking, and sees Malik. Delilah manages to convince Malik that she’s on his side and she wants to join him. Malik tells her to prove it by killing McGee.

McGee tries to let her know the gun’s not loaded by telling her it’s a test. It just so happens that Delilah has a knife in her shoe and manages to stab Malik, giving the team enough time to take him down.

Delilah gets a promotion, which allows her to spend more time in the country and be with McGee.

“NCIS” airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.

A Commitment to Obey

Daniel 1:9-21

Christian Post Report – Years ago I made a commitment to obey the Lord regardless of the cost. Like everyone else, I have made mistakes, but my determination to follow Christ has remained unchanged. When difficulties occur, such a pledge helps a person to stand firm.

    Dr. Charles F. Stanley (File).

We’ll all encounter times when there’s a direct conflict between God’s way and what is being asked of us. Perhaps the boss tells us to misrepresent the company’s product to customers. Or a friend may be pressuring us to join her in some risky behavior. Or family members may urge us to lie on their behalf. Saying no could bring loss, rejection, or even the end of a relationship. On the other hand, saying yes could compromise our testimony or break God’s commands.

Daniel faced such a dilemma. He and his three friends had a clear choice—to eat food prohibited by Scripture, or to refuse and incur the king’s wrath, imprisonment, or even death. Daniel showed great courage when he proposed a different eating plan (Dan. 1:12). His words and actions demonstrated his allegiance to the Lord.

Daniel and his friends were rewarded by God for their faith and commitment (v. 17). Despite their adverse circumstances, all four men confidently trusted in the Lord’s sovereign care for them.

Daniel’s choice resulted in royal favor. Jesus’ obedience led to the cross and glorification. Paul’s trust in Christ resulted in hardship. When we obey, the consequences may vary, but two things are always the same: Obedience glorifies our Father and pleases Him. What could be better than that?

Samsung Galaxy S5 Active Youtube Screenshot/ file

Samsung Galaxy S5 Active

Christian Post Report – People who engage in watersports or who simply love being near the water should consider switching to a waterproof phone. Anyone who ever had a phone accidentally dunked in water knows how hard it is to repair it, and no, leaving it in a bowl of rice doesn’t really work.

Samsung understands the need for a waterproof device, and that’s why the Korean company had a hit last year with its rugged device, the Galaxy S5 Active—a tougher version of the S5 that can survive accidental scratches, drops, dunkings, and spills.

This year, Sony came up with its own waterproof smartphone, the Xperia M4 Aqua. Though it does not have the same specs as the company’s best-selling Xperia Z3, the sleek design and low price is sure to impress.

Here, we compare the two phones:

Design:
The S5 Active is taller and wider than the Galaxy S5, with reinforced plastic corners for extra scuff-proofing, straight but grooved edges, and a flat back. The phone measures 5.72 x 2.89 x 0.35 inches and weighs 6 ounces. It’s available in Camo Green, Ruby Red, and Titanium Grey.

The M4 Aqua has taken its design cues from the Xperia Z3, with its rounded edges and glass front and back. It measures 5.73 x 2.86 x 0.29 inches and weighs 4.94 ounces. The phone is available in a range of colors which include pink, black, and white.

The Samsung phone has an IP 67 rating, while the Sony device has an IP 68 rating. Both phones can survive in up to three feet of water for 30 minutes.

Features:
The S5 Active has a better display than the M4 Aqua, since the Samsung device has a 5.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel density count of 432ppi. Meanwhile, the Sony phone has a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and pixel count of 294ppi.

The S5 Active is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core processor and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, while the M4 Aqua has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The Samsung phone has a 16MP rear camera and 2MP front facing camera, while the Sony device has a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front shooter.

Price:
Off contract, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active costs $650, while the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua costs $340.

It was further teased that before committing the act, the congregation would confess to a priest who will be played by guest star Stephen Daniel Curtis. ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ News: Release Delayed Again to June 23, 2015

Batman: Arkham Knight YouTube/File

A screenshot from Batman: Arkham Knight preview video.

Christian Post Report – The long-awaited episode to the “Arkham” video game series of “Batman” has been delayed yet again. The game was originally scheduled for release on June 2, but recently, its developer Rocksteady Studios announced that the game will be out several weeks after, on June 23. This is the second delay for the game – the first one was when they moved the release from October 2014 to June 2, 2015.

According to a report in PC Gamer, the reason being cited by the developer is “last-minute quality assurance.”

“We’re a developer that hates to make any compromises, so we are very sorry to say this means it’s going to be just a little bit longer until you can play the epic conclusion to the Arkham trilogy,” the press release states.

As they made the announcement, Rocksteady also shared a seven-minute gameplay preview video for the game. The video showed some of the new gameplay features such as the character of Oracle, who is also Police Commissioner’s Gordon’s daughter, Barbara, who helps Batman in his missions. Aside from the usual weapons and tools available to Batman, he also has a driveable and playable Batmobile, which he can summon to wherever he is. According to a Wikipedia entry, the player can now use gliding with the cape for “faster, longer sustained flights, steeper dives and higher climbs.”

Batman is once again voiced by Kevin Conroy. The Dark Knight battles Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, Riddler, Firefly and Poison Ivy. A new villain called Arkham Knight will be introduced in the game. He is described as “a militarized version of Batman.”

The game will be released for the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. In another report in VG 24/7, one shop said that the game’s PC version will only be released digitally and no longer through physical discs. This report however is yet to be confirmed with the game’s publishers.

Amanda Knox Guilty or Innocent? Trial Verdict Latest News – Appeal Decision From Court of Cassation in Meredith Kercher Murder Case Due

Amanda Knox (Photo: Reuters/Anthony Bolante)

Amanda Knox pauses emotionally while speaking during a news conference at Sea-Tac International Airport, Washington after landing there on a flight from Italy, October 4, 2011. Amanda Knox returned home to Seattle one day after an Italian court cleared the 24-year-old college student of murder and freed her from prison.

Christian Post Report – Amanda Knox will be anxiously awaiting a verdict from Italy’s highest court on Wednesday in the 2007 murder case of British exchange student Meredith Kercher.

Italy’s top court is scheduled to issue a ruling on whether they uphold the convictions of American citizen, Amanda Knox, and Italian native, Raffaele Sollecito.

The former couple were initially found guilty in the case, however, that initial conviction was overturned on appeal after the pair had spent four years in an Italian prison.

Knox returned to the United States as soon as she was freed, however, the Italian criminal system allowed the prosecution to bring the case again, and on that hearing the pair were again found guilty.

Things have now moved up to Italy’s highest court, the Court of Cassation, which will decide to either uphold the conviction, overturn it, or it could order the case to be reheard at the lower court.

Experts have stated that it is unusual, although not unheard of, for the Court of Cassation to overturn the last decision when a case comes to them, however, such is the controversy surrounding the Kercher murder case, that many Knox and Sollecito supporters hold out strong hope that their convictions will once again be thrown out.

If the court upholds the convictions, Sollecito will be imprisoned immediately, however, Knox remains in the United States, and it is likely that Italy – which has an extradition agreement with the United States – would apply for the U.S. to hand her over.

If Knox’s guilty conviction is upheld, it is extremely likely that her legal team will apply to the European Court and attempt to get the conviction overturned on human rights grounds.

One man, Rudy Hermann Guede, born in the Ivory Coast, has already been convicted and pleaded guilty to the murder. He, however, opted for a fast-track trial and struck a deal with prosecutors to have his conviction reduced to 16 years.

Early in the investigation process into Kercher’s murder, local Italian police managed to extract an admission of guilt from Knox, however, she has since retracted that admission, and has claimed that she gave it in exhaustion and confusion after long and aggressive questioning from Italian police. She claims she was shouted at, hit, and convinced not to have her own lawyer for the inquisition at the time, and was under extreme stress and duress when she gave her admission.

International interrogation experts have weighed in and analyzed the claims and have stated that it is entirely possible that someone under the pressure Knox was placed under would have made such an admission. They have claimed that Knox’s description of events were in line with well-known interrogation techniques used in the past to coerce admission from suspects. However, those techniques have been widely condemned and are now no longer widely used as it has been found that in many cases, when a subject is placed under extreme conditions, many would say anything they believe interrogators want to hear to make the inquisition to stop.

Numerous international DNA experts have also condemned the reliance on the convictions on DNA evidence found on Kercher’s bra clasp and a knife recovered from Sollecito’s kitchen.

The bra clasp for instance was not recovered by prosecutors for 46 days after the killing, and had been moved since the time of the murder, presumably by investigators. That, along with the relatively tiny amount of DNA found on the clasp, has led many to believe the DNA evidence is unreliable and has a very high probability of being the result of DNA contamination.

The knife having Knox’s DNA on the handle has also been rebuked as Knox clearly had used the knife in Sollecito’s apartment for cooking, giving an obvious explanation for why her DNA was on the knife. There was also no blood evidence, or Kercher DNA, on the knife, making many believe there is a real chance the knife is completely unrelated to the case.

The courts that have convicted Knox and Sollecito have heavily leaned on the side that it is up to the defense team to prove that the DNA evidence was a result of contamination – something many international experts have said is impossible. The court that overturned the conviction, meanwhile, leaned heavily on the side that prosecutors must prove that no contamination had occurred. There is little documentation of the processes Italian investigators used to touch evidence, transport evidence, and how the bra clasp had moved from its initial position over the 46 days it lay in Kercher’s bedroom following the murder.
