Benny Hinn Has Been Battling Atrial Fibrillation for More Than 20 Years; Will Be Out of Hospital ‘Very Soon’

Christian Post Report – After reports swept the media this week about popular televangelist Benny Hinn’s hospitalization for heart trouble, his ministry confirmed Wednesday that his problems stem from atrial fibrillation, an issue he’s been dealing with for more than 20 years.

“We can confirm that pastor Benny Hinn was admitted to a California hospital Friday evening where he was treated for temporarily reduced oxygen levels stemming from atrial fibrillation, a condition he has experienced intermittently for over 20 years,” spokesperson for Benny Hinn Ministries Ronn Torossian of 5W Public Relations said in a statement to The Christian Post Wednesday.

According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, atrial fibrillation is the most common type of arrhythmia, which refers to a problem with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat. This can result in the heart beating too fast, too slow or just irregularly altogether. If the problem goes unnoticed it unfortunately can lead to increased risk of stroke, chest pain or heart failure.

Hinn’s doctors say he’s expected to make a full recovery, according to Torossian.

“His physicians expect he will be released from the hospital very soon, as his condition has been addressed. Thankfully, his doctors report no damage to his heart and expect a full and complete recovery,” he said.

“Due to the growth and global expansion of his ministry, Hinn has been traveling extensively. He expects to continue with his schedule within a very short time,” Torossian continued. “Hinn and his family ask for the public to pray for his health, and a full and speedy recovery.”

Hinn’s daughter, Jessica Hinn Koulianos, first revealed her father’s heart troubles in a message on the Benny Hinn Ministries website late Monday evening.

“Recently he (Hinn) returned to California after ministering to crowds of over 100,000 people in Brazil, including over 2,000 pastors and leaders from all over South America. It was truly a remarkable nation-shaking event. And while it was a rewarding journey, after he arrived home he suddenly began battling fatigue and shortness of breath. For those of you who know my Dad, you know that he never stops; so when he spent over a week in bed, we knew something was wrong. I flew to California to be with him and insisted that he see a doctor. On Friday, he consulted with his local physician and was admitted to the hospital, where he was treated for lack of oxygen in his cardiovascular system,” wrote Koulianos.

Amanda Knox Guilty or Innocent? Trial Verdict Latest News – Appeal Decision From Court of Cassation in Meredith Kercher Murder Case Due Friday

Amanda Knox will be anxiously awaiting a verdict from Italy’s highest court this week in the 2007 murder case of British exchange student Meredith Kercher. A verdict is scheduled for Friday.

Christian Post Report – Italy’s top court is scheduled to issue a ruling on whether they uphold the convictions of American citizen, Amanda Knox, and Italian native, Raffaele Sollecito.

Amanda Knox (Photo: Reuters/Anthony Bolante)

Amanda Knox pauses emotionally while speaking during a news conference at Sea-Tac International Airport, Washington after landing there on a flight from Italy, October 4, 2011. Amanda Knox returned home to Seattle one day after an Italian court cleared the 24-year-old college student of murder and freed her from prison.

The former couple were initially found guilty in the case, however, that initial conviction was overturned on appeal after the pair had spent four years in an Italian prison.

Knox returned to the United States as soon as she was freed, however, the Italian criminal system allowed the prosecution to bring the case again, and on that hearing the pair were again found guilty.

Things have now moved up to Italy’s highest court, the Court of Cassation, which will decide to either uphold the conviction, overturn it, or it could order the case to be reheard at the lower court.

Experts have stated that it is unusual, although not unheard of, for the Court of Cassation to overturn the last decision when a case comes to them, however, such is the controversy surrounding the Kercher murder case, that many Knox and Sollecito supporters hold out strong hope that their convictions will once again be thrown out.

If the court upholds the convictions, Sollecito will be imprisoned immediately, however, Knox remains in the United States, and it is likely that Italy – which has an extradition agreement with the United States – would apply for the U.S. to hand her over.

If Knox’s guilty conviction is upheld, it is extremely likely that her legal team will apply to the European Court and attempt to get the conviction overturned on human rights grounds.

One man, Rudy Hermann Guede, born in the Ivory Coast, has already been convicted and pleaded guilty to the murder. He, however, opted for a fast-track trial and struck a deal with prosecutors to have his conviction reduced to 16 years.

Early in the investigation process into Kercher’s murder, local Italian police managed to extract an admission of guilt from Knox, however, she has since retracted that admission, and has claimed that she gave it in exhaustion and confusion after long and aggressive questioning from Italian police. She claims she was shouted at, hit, and convinced not to have her own lawyer for the inquisition at the time, and was under extreme stress and duress when she gave her admission.

International interrogation experts have weighed in and analyzed the claims and have stated that it is entirely possible that someone under the pressure Knox was placed under would have made such an admission. They have claimed that Knox’s description of events were in line with well-known interrogation techniques used in the past to coerce admission from suspects. However, those techniques have been widely condemned and are now no longer widely used as it has been found that in many cases, when a subject is placed under extreme conditions, many would say anything they believe interrogators want to hear to make the inquisition to stop.

Numerous international DNA experts have also condemned the reliance on the convictions on DNA evidence found on Kercher’s bra clasp and a knife recovered from Sollecito’s kitchen.

The bra clasp for instance was not recovered by prosecutors for 46 days after the killing, and had been moved since the time of the murder, presumably by investigators. That, along with the relatively tiny amount of DNA found on the clasp, has led many to believe the DNA evidence is unreliable and has a very high probability of being the result of DNA contamination.

The knife having Knox’s DNA on the handle has also been rebuked as Knox clearly had used the knife in Sollecito’s apartment for cooking, giving an obvious explanation for why her DNA was on the knife. There was also no blood evidence, or Kercher DNA, on the knife, making many believe there is a real chance the knife is completely unrelated to the case.

The courts that have convicted Knox and Sollecito have heavily leaned on the side that it is up to the defense team to prove that the DNA evidence was a result of contamination – something many international experts have said is impossible. The court that overturned the conviction, meanwhile, leaned heavily on the side that prosecutors must prove that no contamination had occurred. There is little documentation of the processes Italian investigators used to touch evidence, transport evidence, and how the bra clasp had moved from its initial position over the 46 days it lay in Kercher’s bedroom following the murder.

‘Face of Jesus’ Appears on Colombia Hillside Following Landslide; Crowds of Worshipers Flock to Site

An image of Jesus is believed by worshippers to have appeared following a landslide. The apparition is attracting hundreds of visitors to the San Francisco area of Putumayo, Colombia, in March 2015.

Christian Post Report – A Colombian newspaper has reported on what some believe to be the face of Jesus Christ etched into a hillside in Putumayo, Colombia, following a landslide on Saturday. Worshipers are flocking to the site, the report added, while some locals have started charging for admission.

“If you believe in Jesus, you will see your image,” Ximena Rosero Arango, one of the people who came to the site, told El Tempto.

Images of what some believe to be a miracle show the supposed face appearing in the hillside surrounded by trees.

The large number of people coming to the site has forced police to get involved to manage the crowds, the report added.

The story has been picked up by TIME, the Mirror, and other news sources.

Discovery News pointed out that there has been a number of stories of rock formations and other natural features around the world that have been said to resemble human faces.

“There’s also an underground rock formation in the Philippines that some suggest looks like the face on the Shroud of Turin,” it said.

“In 2010, the Telegraph, a British newspaper, was among other publications that reported Jesus’ likeness could also be seen in Google Maps overhead photo of a field on farmland near Puspokladany in Hungary.”

In another reported miracle in February, a Greek church claimed that a statue of Jesus Christ began “weeping” in the form of an “oily liquid.”

The occurrence at the church of St. Nicholas in the village of Asprokampos, Corinthia, apparently began following the elections victory of the left-wing political party Syriza, which saw Greece welcome in its first-ever openly atheistic prime minister in the face of Alexis Tsipras.

“I’m in management at Universal Orlando, and I meet up with Claudia Shepherd (Ryan Newman) and her friend, Jess, and I make sure that they get their VIP passes so they can get to the front of the line,” she told Hollywood Life.

The “RHOBH” star spoke out after she finished filming all her scenes at Universal Studios theme park in Orlando, Florida last month. The reality star was reportedly excited about the film, but chose to keep mum on whether she’ll get eaten by a shark or not.

“I think I’m gonna wait and let you figure that out,” she revealed. “I will tell you, they gave me an option: do I want to get eaten, or do I not? It’s a hard choice. I made my decision, we made our decision, and I guess you’ll have to wait and see.”

Before becoming a Housewife, Richards was one of the most popular child actresses of the ’70s. ‘Mallrats 2’: Kevin Says Script is Nearing Completion, 5 Original Cast Members Returning

Mallrats 2 Twitter/ thatkevinsmith

Kevin Smith tweeted this photo of him with Stan Lee, Jason Mewes, and Michael Rooker.

Christian Post Report – Mention the name Kevin Smith, and kids of the ’90s know that he’s the one behind the film “Mallrats,” which developed a strong cult following after it was released on video. The 1995 romantic comedy is the second film in Smith’s View Askewniverse series and the prequel to 1994’s “Clerks,” and now, 20 years later, Smith has confirmed that “Mallrats 2” is in the works.

When asked about rumors of a sequel for “Mallrats,” the director confirmed to radio show Rock 102 Mornings with Shmonty & Carolina that he is working on it and said, “Yeah, that’s what we’re working on.”

“It’s half a script right now, and we’re pulling our loot together. We’ve got until the beginning of 2016. By the time we get to May 2016, we’re going to be shooting,” he explained.

The original film did not make a killing in the box office, as it reportedly grossed only a little more than $2 million back in 1995. But Smith appears to be unconcerned about the sequel suffering the same fate.

“Lately I’ve been doing this thing where I’m like, ‘Do you want to do what’s good for your career, or do you want to have fun?'” he continued. “Nobody’s clamoring for a ‘Mallrats’ sequel, but I would love to make one. It’s been like 20 years.”

Smith first hinted at the “Mallrats” sequel last week on Twitter as he gave an update about the films that he’s working on.

“We shoot CLERKS III in May,” he wrote. “HIT SOMEBODY shoots September to Christmas. Then in February 2016 we do MOOSE JAWS. But after that? I smell a rat…”

Confirmed to return for “Mallrats 2” is Shannen Doherty, who will be reprising her role as Rene Mosier, Michael Rooker, Stan Lee, Jason Mewes and Smith himself as Silent Bob.

On March 24, Smith announced via Twitter that Jason Lee will also be back to reprise his role as Brodie. “Brodie is back! Jason Lee’s going to the mall y’all! 6 more to go!”

It is speculated that the “6” that Smith is referring to are original cast members Claire Forlani, Jeremy London, Joey Lauren Adams, Ethan Suplee, Renee Humphrey, and Ben Affleck.

No release date has been given for “Mallrats 2” as of the moment.

The cast of Teen Mom OG

Christian Post Report – The premiere episode of “Teen Mom OG” features Maci Bookout, Farrah Abraham, Catelynn Lowell and Amber Portwood as they face new challenges in their lives. In the episode that aired on March 23, Caitlynn finds out that she’s going to be a mom again, Maci is dealing with her ex, Ryan, and Amber is adjusting to life after prison.

Catelynn and Tyler are frustrated due to the negative things written about them. People are judging them for wanting to have another baby after they gave up their first child for adoption. Catelynn takes a pregnancy test and it’s positive.

“Whelp, you’re going to be a dad!” she exclaims. Tyler is in tears as he says, “I can’t wait to hold it.”

They discuss their future and Tyler tells Catelynn that he wants her to stay home for a few years to take care of the baby. They both tell their parents, and though it goes over better than expected, both sides are now pressuring them to get married.

Meanwhile, Amber is now out of prison and has just moved into her new house. Amber goes over to Gary’s house to pick up their daughter Leah, and Amber tells Gary that it’s nice to not have to fight with him all the time. Though she knows that they’re not getting back together, she still wants to make their new relationship work.

Amber bonds with her mom and her cousin at a spa, but what should have been a relaxing experience turns nasty when Amber’s mom calls Gary evil.

“Mom quit talking like that,” Amber says. “You don’t say somebody’s evil. He is the father of my child, and he’s taken care of my child in the past when I was put away.”

Her mother, Tonya, walks out of the spa, shouting as she goes. Later, Amber tells her cousin that what her mother did had a very negative effect on her.

“I thought about getting high after everything so much more,” said Amber. “I was feeling like, ‘Oh my God, I could handle this if I was clocked out.’ I need to see my daughter because I’m not feeling well.”

Maci is doing well — she’s in her final year of college working toward her mass communications degree, and her boyfriend Taylor has just moved in with her.

However, things are not going so well with her ex, Ryan, as she wants him to take a more active role in their son Bentley’s life. She tries to call him but he tells her he’s busy and hangs up on her. Frustrated, Maci turns to Ryan’s parents for advice, and his mother tells Maci that perhaps she should try to email him. This frustrates Maci, but she sees that she has no other choice but to do so.

“Teen Mom OG” airs on Mondays at 10/9c on MTV.

‘iZombie’: Episode 2 Recap ‘Brother Can You Spare a Brain?’

iZombie Facebook/ iZombie

Rose McIver as Liv in iZombie

Christian Post Report – In this week’s episode of “iZombie,” Liv uses her unique skills to solve the murder of an artist, and Liv searches for Blaine, the person who turned her into a zombie.

The episode starts when a man and a woman enter an apartment, and later the man, Javier, is seen dead, having been stabbed through the eye with a paint brush.

Clive thinks that Javier’s wife Lola may have killed Javier, but they don’t have any proof. However, the paint brush has some brain matter sticking to it, so he takes it to Liv to eat—hopefully they’ll have more evidence once she gets visions after eating Javier’s brain.

At Liv’s Major drops by with a box of her things, and after he leaves Liv and Peyton argue about Liv having broken up with him.

That night, Liv keeps dreaming about Blaine, the person who turned her into a zombie, so the next day she tries to find him on the Internet. Later, she has a flashback of Javier having an affair with someone.

Liv goes to the police station and tells Clive about what she saw, so he takes her to Lola. Lola says that the woman in Liv’s vision is Tasha, one of Javier’s many lovers. Lola says that they were in an open relationship. Clive doesn’t believe that monogamy isn’t important for the pair, and later he gets a text from forensics saying that the killer is much taller than Lola.

Later, Liv, having acquired a new skill from eating Javier’s brain, proceeds to draw Blaine. She posts it online, and soon Blaine visits her at the morgue. He tells her that he gets brains from robbing graves. Ravi arrives and asks Blaine for a urine sample in order to find out how he got to be a zombie. Blaine says that he has no idea how it happened, and that he was on drugs when the zombie attack happened.

Blaine goes to a bar and picks up a woman. He sleeps with her and turns her into a zombie. Later, he initiates her into the zombie ring and says for $25,000 a month, he can get her all the brains that she needs.

Liv gets a new vision, and one of Javier’s girlfriend’s boyfriends is not too happy with the arrangement. Clive interrogates the man, who is Tasha’s boyfriend, and says that Javier dumped Tasha for an 18-year old girl.

It turns out that the girl is the daughter of Javier’s art dealer. And while all signs point to the dealer, Liv and Clive find out that though Lola was not averse to Javier sleeping with other girls, she couldn’t bear that he got a girl pregnant, and of all people, the girl happens to be the daughter of their friend. So it was Lola all along who killed Javier.

“iZombie” airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.

‘The Thorn’ Large-Scale Production Mixes Martial Arts, Acrobatics in Portrayal of Gospel Message at New Life Church Founded by Ted Haggard

(Photo: Courtesy of Ted Mehl/”The Thorn”)

A scene from “The Thorn,” a version of the Gospel story that features dance, music, acrobatics and martial arts.

Christian Post Report – “The Thorn,” a theatrical adaption based on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ that includes acrobatics and martial arts, will be performed at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, which was founded by its former pastor, Ted Haggard.

The play is the product of John Bolin, a former youth pastor at New Life Church, who in an interview with the Gazette, described “The Thorn” as “the Bible on stage like you’ve never seen it.”

Derived from a 1990s high school play that’s produced with a cast of hundreds, “The Thorn” will be performed at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, starting on Thursday.

“I think God likes it when we tell a story. From the artistic side, when we do something beautiful like this, it sticks, it grows,” Bolin asserted.

Sarah Bolin, executive producer at Thorn Productions and wife of John, spoke to The Christian Post about what makes this production different from other theatrical versions of the Gospel story.

“‘The Thorn’ is different in that it involves local volunteer actors and professionals who tell the story; it explores the supernatural perspective of the Gospel story (angels and demons), and uses multiple artistic and athletic talents,” she explained.

“We tour with the production and are in six cities this year. Colorado Springs is our longest running annual show on its 19th year. Also, ‘The Thorn’ is not a play with speaking parts. There is a narrator and the rest of the scenes are acted to music with live singers.”

The most recent tour of the production began earlier this month with performances in Fort Worth, Texas, and will culminate in Nashville, Tennessee, next month.

On its website, “The Thorn” is described as “a visually dynamic and heart-stirring theatrical portrayal of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

“‘The Thorn’ combines martial arts, aerial acrobatics and emotionally powerful performances that have been engaging audiences across the U.S. for almost 20 years,” the description continues. “To help bring this timeless story to life, ‘The Thorn’ recruits large-scale casts of professional and volunteer performers who share in the heart of ‘The Thorn.'”

New Life Church is promoting the performances, five scheduled over four days, with a link on their home page. “[W]itness the Gospel message presented in a powerful way. Using narrative, visuals, movement and music to tell the story of the Cross. Often described as The Passion meets Cirque du Soleil, the show has expanded over the years to include aerial acrobatics, pyrotechnics, dynamic visuals and special effects.”

“Also on board are dancers from the Ballet Society of Colorado Springs, who will perform during the Colorado Springs dates,” the Gazette reports. “Ballet Emmanuel, a professional Christian ballet company, will perform at other stops on the tour.”

When asked by CP about the value of theatre as a way to convey the Gospel, Bolin responded that she thinks “telling the story in a variety of ways is valuable.”

“We love the arts and theater because it gives so much space for creativity, variety, and artistic expression,” she added.

“‘The Thorn’ involves martial arts, dance, aerial arts, acting, singing … it’s rare to have the vehicle to be able to combine all of these talents in once space. We truly love it!”
