Both the Washington Wizards and Indiana Pacers look to break their losing slumps as they meet at the Verizon Center in the NBA regular season. The match is on March 25, 2015 and tip-off is at 7 p.m. ET.

Christian Post Report – With their current record at 30-40, the Pacers are 10th in the East and are one game behind the Boston Celtics for the last playoff spot. After a seven-game win streak, which also saw them win 10 of 11 matches, they now find themselves in a six-game winless run that has made them drop further in the rankings.

Even worse is that in their six losses, four of those have been blowouts. They lost 117-98 to the Toronto Raptors, 103-86 to the Chicago Bulls, 123-111 to the Brooklyn Nets and most recently 110-100 to the Houston Rockets.

As far as injuries go, Paul George has been seeing significant time in the shoot-around as he completes his rehabilitation following a broken leg early in the summer. More recently, Rodney Stuckey is listed as day-to-day after sustaining a calf injury only a few days ago.

For the Wizards, they sport a 40-31 record which is good for fifth in the East. They have also dropped three consecutive games after winning five straight. Just like the Pacers, the Wizards’ losses have been blowouts – 113-99 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, 109-86 to the Sacramento Kings and 107-76 to the Golden State Warriors.

With only a few games left, ending the losing streak is vital and it will happen to one of these two teams when they meet.

The first two meetings ended in Washington victories, with their first played in DC. In that contest, the match went to overtime where the Wizards pulled off a 96-94 win.

John Wall posted 31 points while shooting 52 percent from the field, while Donald Sloan carried the load for the Pacers also with 31 in the losing effort.

Christian Post Report – Last year’s Western Conference finalists meet at the AT&T Center as the San Antonio Spurs host the Oklahoma City Thunder. The match is on March 25, 2015 and starts 9:30 p.m. ET.

The two teams clashed in the playoffs last year, with the Spurs winning the series 4-2 and eventually winning the NBA championship.

So far this year, they have only met once, with the Thunder winning 114-106 in Texas.

In that contest, Russell Westbrook powered Oklahoma City to the win with 34 points while shooting 50 percent from the field. He also added five rebounds, 11 assists and five steals to complete his night. Steven Adams also had a great night as the sophomore center shot 63 percent from the field to score 16 points while pulling down 15 rebounds – seven from offensive boards.

In the loss, seven Spurs players scored in double digits, led by Matt Bonner’s 17 points behind three three-pointers. Tim Duncan added 15 and Danny Green had 12 but only shot 2-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Both teams are currently trying to make a strong push for playoff spots.

The Spurs are currently sixth in the tough Western Conference and are only one game ahead of the Dallas Mavericks.

Oklahoma City are clinging on to the eighth spot and are trying to fend off the Phoenix Suns and the New Orleans Pelicans as they try to reach the post-season.

For the Spurs, only Aron Baynes is sidelined by injury, as the center tweaked his ankle and is recovering – given a day-to-day status by the management.

Things are far worse for the Thunder, who are missing four key players in their hopeful playoff run.

Kevin Durant is out indefinitely after suffering constant setbacks with his foot injury. Andre Roberson is given a day-to-day status due to an ankle issue. Serge Ibaka is set to return in four to six weeks following a procedure in his knee. Finally, Nick Collison is given a day-to-day status as well as he suffered an ankle injury only a few days ago.

Donnie McClurkin Urges Forgiveness Of People in Ministry Who Make Public Mistakes

Donnie McClurkin (Photo: BET Networks)

Donnie McClurkin is an award winning singer, pastor and “Sunday Best” judge.

Christian Post Report – Donnie McClurkin is urging people to forgive people in ministry who have made public mistakes.

McClurkin, the 54-year-old pastor of Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, N.Y., blesses people with his singing voice away from the pulpit. While he has been a leading voice in gospel music with a career that spans almost 20 years, he also admits to making his fair share of mistakes.

For that reason, the pastor took to Twitter to ask that people forgive those involved in ministry after public mistakes are made.

“Pls…lets show mercy to those who may have simply made a mistake. Let’s not vilify them & their entire ministry..,” McClurkin tweeted. “Lets pray, 4give & restore. If I count MY failures & every time I’VE faltered/they’d be much too much 2mention/I could never count them all~! HE forgave, WE forgive~!” (SIC)

He went on to offer another perspective on the matter, questioning how people would react if they made a public mistake.

“What if you made a public mistake? would u want condemnation & criticism or consideration & covering,” McClurkin questioned on Twitter. “Whichever you’d want done, DO~! simple.”

While speaking with The Christian Post last year, McClurkin opened up about his definition of God’s grace which has helped him accomplish great things.

“The definition of grace is the supernatural ability to do what you cannot do in the natural and God graces us to do what He’s called us to do,” he told CP. “He put just enough hours in a day, just enough days in a week and just enough weeks in a month for us to accomplish things.”

One of McClurkin’s accomplishments is his morning radio show that took the number one spot in New York and Philadelphia markets from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m, according to Jan. Nielsen radio ratings. McClurkin seemed overjoyed about his faith-based program doing well in large radio markets.

“The Donnie McClurkin Show has done so wonderfully in reaching #1 in New York and Philadelphia in its’ radio time slot. I’m thankful that this show can reach so many across the country and around the world, and give them great music that inspires them in the course of their day to this degree,” he said in a statement obtained by The Christian Post. “We’re reaching millions and looking to reaching millions more!”

Tim Tebow arrives at the 48th Country Music Association Awards in Nashville, Tennessee, November 5, 2014.

Christian Post Report – Tim Tebow is teaming up with The Salvation Army to help the homeless.

Tebow, the 27-year-old former Heisman Trophy winner who serves as a football analyst, is going to join the Manatee County Salvation Army’s “Evening of Hope” next May in an effort to help the homeless. According to a Bradenton Herald report, Tebow is looking to “help the Salvation Army fund a ministry for the homeless.”

Throughout the years, Tebow has been vocal about his Christian faith, which he will also speak about at the “Evening of Hope” event at the Bayside Community Church in Bradenton, Florida. The Salvation Army is looking to get monetary donations that will help fund local homeless-prevention services, according to the Bradenton Herald.

Major Dwayne Durham, Manatee County regional Salvation Army coordinator, spoke about getting Tebow involved in the event.

“We feel blessed to be able to partner with such well known advocates like Tim Tebow,” Durham told the Bradenton Herald.

Tebow has spoken up about the importance of his philanthropic efforts in the past. Last year, the evangelical Christian football star-turned-SEC-college football analyst, was selected by People magazine as one of 2014’s Sexiest Men Alive.

He spoke to the publication about his goals for the Tim Tebow Foundation and helping others.

“I hope that when I’m 90 years old, I’ve accomplished a legacy that isn’t all about me. I hope it’s a legacy about the people who our foundation helps,” Tebow previously told People. “We’re about to open a hospital in the Philippines. We’ll have this hospital where we can help kids who are hurting; healing them physically but encouraging them emotionally and spiritually as well.”

ISIS Increases Child Recruitment: 400 Kids Join ‘Cubs of the Caliphate’ in Syria; Brutal Training Camps Teach Children to Carry Out Beheadings

Christian Post Report – The brutal Islamic State terrorist organization in Syria has recruited at least 400 children for use in combat roles since January, a leading Syrian monitoring group reported this week.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights estimates that as ISIS has opened up “Cubs of the Caliphate” recruiting offices and training camps in a number of its strongholds, at least 400 minors have joined the group from Jan.1 until March 23, but not necessarily by choice.

“I think to speak of children joining ISIS is not a good way to put it,” Charlie Winter, researcher at the counter-extremism think tank Quilliam, told SOHR. ” Even if they have the perception of choice, it’s not choice. If you’re a minor and being indoctrinated from a very young age, you don’t have the power to make a serious choice. I think that it’s certainly worth considering more robustly that people are being groomed.”

As previously reported by The Christian Post, minors as young as age 6 are separated from their family and sent to jihadi training camps, where they are indoctrinated with ISIS’ barbaric and extremist mindset through the teaching of sharia courses. Once the “cubs” are indoctrinated, they take part in extensive and dangerous, military, combat and martial arts training.

“They use children because it is easy to brainwash them,” head of the Syrian Observatory Rami Abdulrahman told Reuters. “They can build these children into what they want, they stop them from going to school and send them to IS schools instead.”

The report indicated once the children are trained and placed on the battlefields, they’ll be used in combat roles and will also be used for espionage operations and propaganda.

In the past, the group has also used children as human shields, forced them to donate blood to fighters, and tried to get the kids to kill themselves in suicide bombings.

Melanie Smith, a researcher with the the counterterrorism think tank Institute for Strategic Dialogue, also explained that children who live in ISIS-controlled regions in Iraq and Syria don’t have any other option except to go to the extremist training camps.

“If you live in a territory controlled by ISIS as a child you may not have much choice but to support their values,” Smith told SOHR. “We know that whole families have moved into these areas, so I wouldn’t be surprised if parents are responsible for their children joining.”

Although the terrorist group has recruited at least 400 children to join the ranks, the observatory finds that since the start of 2015, ISIS has had its worst adult recruiting period since the caliphate was declared last June, having recruited only 120 adults since Jan. 1.

“I think it’s part of children being the next generation,” Smith said. “They’ve invested a lot in training these minors for them to become completely immersed in the ideology. Whereas adults might be more questioning, children are a very easy target. They are thinking of these children as their legacy.”

That being said, however, Turkey’s parliamentary speaker Cemil Cicek claims that authorities have already apprehended 12,500 people from 93 countries who were entering the country en route to join ISIS in Syria.

As the observatory finds that fewer adults are joining the group, Winter says that children are essential to ISIS’ propaganda war.

“They are central to ISIS’ media strategy of trying to garner outrage and shock the world,” Winter explained. “It’s all a part of ISIS’ attempts to show themselves as a functioning state with a proper education system.”

Although ISIS wants to show that it has a “proper education system,” there is no hiding the barbaric type of education that it provides to its child recruits.

According to the Syrian monitoring website Syria Deeply, an Islamic State training camp leader once gave his students a homework assignment where they had to take home a blonde-haired, blue-eyed doll and behead the doll with a knife.

One 13-year-old who was in attendance at the camp told the website that the camp manager distributed dolls and specifically told the children to decapitate the dolls while covering the dolls’ faces.

Christian Post Report – Amber Portwood and daughter Leah

“I didn’t want people to have a bad taste in their mouth of things that happened in the past,” she told People magazine. “I thought, ‘This is my chance, don’t blow it.'”

Portwood made headlines when she made the decision to report to jail back in June 2012 rather than attend a court mandated rehab program. She tells People that in a way, being in prison saved her life.

“The only thing I could see happening to me if I [hadn’t] gone to prison is I would have died. I would have overdosed. When you’re an addict you know what your bottom,” she explained.

Portwood revealed that she earned her G.E.D. while in prison and is now trying to decide between colleges.

“Obviously I had some speed bumps. But it’s never too late to try to get your life back and so something positive,” she tells the magazine.

“The whole time I was in there I worked my [expletive] off. There were hundreds of hours of drug addiction classes. I did extra classes, parenting and anger management and even started teaching. I put myself in there for a reason so I didn’t want to make it a waste,” she adds.

Now, aside from being on the “Teen Mom OG,” Portwood is busy raising her daughter Leah. She has also found love with 43-year-old fiancé Matt Baier.

“He’s amazing, funny, carry and loving,” said Portwood. “We want to be engaged for at least a year before we really jump into anything. We want everything in place.”

Chris Brown and Rihanna Assault News: Celebrates End of Probation in Assault Case

Chris Brown’s felony probation in an assault case over his 2009 attack on ex-girlfriend Rihanna has ended.

Christian Post Report – Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin ended Brown’s probation on Friday, March 21, more than six years after the R&B singer brutally attacked his then-girlfriend hours before the Grammy Awards.

Chris Brown’s probation ends after Judge Brandlin found that the singer has completed his 1,000 hours of community service.

The Los Angeles District Attorney confirmed to E! News that the 25-year old’s probation ended when Judge Brandlin found that Brown had officially completed his 1,000 hours of community service and the Probation Department concluded that there were no violations. Brandlin’s decision marks the first time since mid-2009 that Brown will not be under the supervision of court or probation officials.

The singer and his attorney, Mark Geragos, hugged in the courtroom and again in a courthouse elevator. After the hearing, Brown tweeted, “I’m off probation!!!!! Thank the Lord!!!!!”

“I couldn’t be more delighted,” said Geragos after the hearing. “He is in a spot right now and a place right now that I couldn’t be prouder of him.”

Brown was 19 years old when he attacked Rihanna in a sports car after leaving a pre-Grammy Awards party. Brown fled the scene but turned himself in to police hours later and was charged with felony assault.

TMZ posted a photo of Rihanna’s face, which showed extensive injuries. In a search warrant affidavit, it was revealed that Brown repeatedly punched Rihanna, bit her ear, and choked her to the point that she almost lost consciousness.

Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault in June 2009 and was ordered to stay away from the “Umbrella” singer. As part of his sentence, Brown was required to undergo violence counseling. Judge Brandlin also ordered Brown into rehab, which resulted in the singer being diagnosed with bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and complications from substance abuse.

Chicago Blackhawks’ Jonathan Toews congratulates goalie Corey Crawford after their team defeated the Los Angeles Kings in Game 2 of their NHL Western Conference final hockey playoffs in Chicago, Illinois, June 2, 2013.

Christian Post Report – The Chicago Blackhawks travel to Wells Fargo Arena to face the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL. The game is being played on March 25, 2015, and the puck drops at 8 p.m. ET.

The Flyers have lost four straight matches. All road games, they lost 2-1 to a penalty shootout against the Ottawa Senators. Then they would go to Vancouver to face the Canucks and eventually fall 4-1. The same score-line reflected their loss to the Calgary Flames before their 5-4 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Now, on their first trip back home after the four-game road stretch, the Flyers will look to get back on track.

They have won five of their last seven at home, most recently a dominating 7-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings. Wayne Simmonds and Nicklas Grossman opened the scoring in that match with goals in the first period. In the second, Justin Abdelkader cut the deficit in half but less than 10 minutes after Brayden Schenn restored the two-goal lead. He would again score 11 seconds in the third period before Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Matt Read and Zac Rinaldo put the finishing touches in the domination.

As it stands, Philadelphia is 11th in the East and are currently out of the playoff spot this season.

For the Blackhawks, they have won five of their last six matches, and have gone 2-1 so far in their four-game road trip. With Philadelphia as their last stop before a home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, a win would go a long way to boost their confidence.

Chicago is currently fourth in the West and are only two points behind the Nashville Predators. They are also only five points behind West leaders Anaheim Ducks.

In their 3-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes, Andrew Shaw scored twice and Patrick Sharp also found the back of the net to get two points on the road.

Now they will try to complete the season sweep over the Flyers as they won 4-0 in their first meeting.

Roma Downey, Mark Burnett Avow ‘A.D. – The Bible Continues’ Contrasts ‘Gruesome’ Crucifixion with the Promise of the Resurrection

A.D. TV Series (Photo:YouTube Screenshot/NBC)

The poster for the upcoming series A.D. produced by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett

Less than two weeks shy of the Easter Sunday premiere of “A.D. – The Bible Continues” on NBC, Roma Downey and Mark Burnett offered additional insight into the pivotal scene of Jesus’ crucifixion in the highly-anticipated series.

While “A.D.” will be family-friendly, the Biblically-based series features Jesus’ grisly death on the cross in what Downey says is a contrast between light and dark. The “Touched by an Angel” star and her husband produced “A.D.” with help from their company, Lightworkers, which helped to carefully portray the darkness of the crucifixion as well as the light in Jesus rising from the dead.

“Of course, light moves throughout the Bible, but it shines brightest when we understand that it’s often because it’s set in the darkest of times,” Downey told The Christian Post. “The crucifixion is clearly one of the most gruesome, darkest moments in the story, and we wanted to show what Jesus went through. I don’t think that any of it is gratuitous, but it is painful to watch. But it contrasted against what is the light and magnificence and the promise of the resurrection.”

“A.D.” picks up where the “Bible” series left off, starting with the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus that altered history. The series chronicles several of the most intense and tumultuous decades in history as well as the birth of the early church. Giving viewers a taste of what is in store from the “Bible” series follow-up, Downey went on to describe the resurrection scene in the first episode of “A.D.” in greater detail.

“That moment when we have seen that it’s taken six to seven men to push that stone in front of the tomb, and we understand that the Romans and the temple authorities there fear that this prophecy will be fulfilled and placed both temple and Roman guards at the tomb,” the actress detailed. “Then on Easter morning, we see the light beginning to radiate behind the closed tomb, and then the heavens move, and the amazing angels show up and glory of God is magnified. Then He pushes away that stone and those soldiers pull their hands over the faces because they are blinded by the magnificence of the light, and we know that this is just the beginning.”

Furthermore, Burnett noted that “A.D” entertains audiences all while educating them on the Book of Acts. However, the “Shark Tank” producer clarified that the series is respectful to both believers and non-believers.

“You get to follow along with Acts, but you also get a great drama of Roman life, of domestic life, and you get swept up in the story,” he told CP. “So people are not going to feel preached to … it is not our mission to preach to people.”

Burnett also compared “A.D.” to today’s leading television series, including HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” while setting the “Bible” series follow-up apart from “crappy programming” that is often associated with Christian entertainment.

“It’s primetime TV, and the hope is that the way people have been speaking about ‘Game of Thrones’ for five years now, they will talk about, ‘Oh I can’t wait for ‘A.D.’ to come back next year,” the producer explained. “That’s what we want. We want to be honoring to our faith and honoring in an artistic way. Young Christians get embarrassed by crappy programming, we don’t want to be that, we’ve met with Winterjam and Teen Mania and they’re like, ‘Don’t make it embarrassing.'”

“A.D. – The Bible Continues” premieres on Sunday, April 5, where it will run for 12 consecutive Sundays on NBC at 8 p.m. ET. Watch a trailer for the series here.
