The Mosaix 2013 two-day Multi-Ethnic Church Conference held at Grace Brethren Church in Long Beach, Calif., on Nov. 5-6, 2013.

Christian Post Report – A first-of-its-kind gathering of over 25 different influential Christian organizations and leaders, including the Southern Baptist Convention and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Charlotte), convened this week to discuss and trade ideas on how to plant and grow multi-ethnic churches throughout North America, including strategies to establish 1,000 such churches over the next seven to ten years.

The Christian Post obtained the program of the closed-door, two-day meeting titled the 2015 Multi-Ethnic Church Planting Leaders Summit in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event, from Wednesday to Thursday, was organized by Mosaix Global Network along with Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary’s Center for the Development of Evangelical Leadership in Charlotte.

In addition to discussion on strategic partnerships to establish 1,000 multi-ethnic churches within the next decade, attendees also discussed how to facilitate the process of 20 percent of the churches in North America, having 20 percent racial diversity by 2020.

Mosaix Global Network stresses on its website the need for “local churches” to be part of the United States’ effort to “eliminate prejudice and the disparaging consequences of institutional racism still deeply imbedded within our society.”

“Surely it breaks the heart of God that so many churches throughout this country are segregated ethnically and economically from one another,” Mark DeYmaz, co-founder of Mosaix Global Network, commented to The Christian Post in a 2013 interview, “and little has changed in more than 100 years since it was first heard that Sunday morning is the most-segregated hour of the week.”

The Mosaix website underscores that “according to research, more than 86 percent of all churches in the United States are segregated, with more than 80 percent of their membership representing a single race or ethnic group.”

“The problem is this: an increasingly diverse and cynical society, we are concerned that people are no longer finding credible the message of God’s love for all people as preached from segregated pulpits and pews.”

Natasha Sistrunk Robinson, assistant director of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary’s Center for the Development of Evangelical Leadership, who was a speaker and an author and anti-human trafficking activist, told The Christian Post about CDEL’s and Mosaix’s collaboration, “A goal of this partnership is to establish the Charlotte campus as a key resource for conferencing, coaching and consulting for Christians leading in a multi-cultural church context.”

“This partnership is the first of many efforts to introduce a new vision, revitalization, and direction for CDEL.”

In this week’s summit, numerous church denominations, seminaries, and networks were involved to advance the movement of multi-ethnic churches in North America. Some of the groups represented included the Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians, The Wesleyan Church, the New Thing Network, Urban Islands Project, Covenant Theological Seminary, and Ozark Christian College, among others.

Mosaix’s first Multi-Ethnic Church Conference was held in 2010 and was attended by more than 400 people representing 31 states and four countries. The 2013 Multi-Ethnic Church Conference attracted more than 900 church leaders, and featured speakers including Jim Wallis, John Perkins, Choco De Jesus, Soong-Chan Rah, Eugene Cho, among others.

Next month, Mosaix will host its regional conference, Exponential East, April 27-30, in Tampa, Florida, under the theme of Spark: Igniting a Culture of Multiplication.

‘Sherlock’ Special Episode News, Update: Special Segment Will Be Set in Victorian Era

Sherlock (Photo: BBC/File)

British broadcaster BBC One previously released a photo showing “Sherlock” mainstays Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman sporting clothes reminiscent of the Victorian era.

Christian Post Report – The news set off Sherlock fans to speculate if the image teaser suggests that the popular detective show would now delve with time travel or that the cast is simply doing some cosplay.

To clear off the confusion, Sherlock co-creator Steven Moffat speaks with Entertainment Weekly confirming that followers of the show will see a totally different timeline for its December special.

Moffat clarified that the upcoming special segment will take the beloved characters back to Victorian London. He further said that it would not be a part of the series’ forthcoming season 4 which, as reported, will likely to kick off in “early 2016.”

“The special is its own thing. We wouldn’t have done the story we’re doing, and the way we’re doing it, if we didn’t have this special. It’s not part of the run of three episodes. So we had this to do it – as we could hardly conceal – it’s Victorian. [Co-creator Mark Gatiss] and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be separate entity on its own. It’s kind of in its own little bubble,” Moffat said.

Speaking about the fourth season, a report from Screen Rant confirmed that the trio episodes are already in the works and this might see some reduction of cast members.

“We have a plan … we practically reduced our cast to tears by telling them about the plan,” Moffat previously said during the 2014 Emmy Awards.

“Sherlock” Christmas Special is expected to air in the U.K. in December.

Arrow and the Flash

Christian Post Report – DC’s small screen adaptations are about to go in full steam as recent news indicates that “Arrow” and “The Flash” executive producers Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim are about to deliver yet another offshoot series based from the mentioned titles.

Speaking with Variety, showrunner Berlanti revealed some meaty details about the proposed TV show saying that it is designed to be “most similar to our crossover episodes, where you feel that ‘event-iness,’ but all the time.”

He further likened it to Western classics like “The Magnificent Seven” or those heist pictures like “Ocean’s Eleven” “where you get all those colors at the same time, and a true ensemble, and that was the fun of it.”

If the project will be picked up by The CW, it will likely to feature heroes and villains appearing on the sister shows. As what the publication detailed out, it might see “Arrow” actor Brandon Routh, who plays the Atom, and Caity Lotz, as Sara Lance a.k.a. Black Canary.

“The Flash” characters Dr. Martin Stein (played by Victor Garber), Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (played by “Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller) and Mick Rory/Heat Wave (portrayed by Dominic Purcell) would also likely be involved with the upcoming spin-off.

Variety went on to add that other than the mentioned cast, the future show would take “at least three major” characters from the DC Comics. Berlanti clarified that these entities were never been brought to the small screens before.

“I can’t wait for people to find out — we just have to cast it right, as always,” Berlanti added.

Grant Gustin-led “The Flash” airs every Tuesdays at 8 p.m. and Stephen Amell’s “Arrow” shows every Wednesdays at the same timeslot on The CW.

NBA News: OKC Thunder’s Serge Ibaka Has Successful Knee Surgery

Serge Ibaka Reuters/File

Oklahoma City Thunder’s forward Serge Ibaka

Christian Post Report – Recent NBA news pointed out that Oklahoma City’s forward Serge Ibaka underwent a successful surgery on Tuesday to address the persistent sore right knee problems.

A report from ESPN indicated that the procedure could sideline the Congo-born Spaniard from four to six weeks, which means the NBA club might tread on towards the league’s playoffs without him.

“After monitoring the soreness in Serge’s knee and having taken several intermediate steps to assess and manage the discomfort, it was determined that the necessary next step in the evaluation was to see a specialist to discuss options to help alleviate the soreness and swelling,” the Thunder general manager Sam Presti stated.

“During the consultation with Dr. David Altchek, his recommendation, in agreement with Thunder medical personnel, Serge and his representatives, was for Serge to have arthroscopic surgery to remedy the problematic area,” Presti went on to say.

The Thunder has already suffered several injury-related set-backs this season starting off with 2014’s NBA Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant, who had missed 40 games due to foot injuries. He was followed by point guard Russell Westbrook, who has been away for a total of 15 games for this season.

With Westbrook’s intensified 27.5 points per game performance and about 15 games left to win in the campaign, the Thunder is hard at work to claim a spot in the Western Conference. Following closely on their heels is the New Orleans Pelicans, who are just one game away to tie up with their 37-30 stat.

Serge Ibaka is averaging 14.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.4 blocked shots over 64 games with the Thunder this season.

Are Western Evangelicals Sleeping On ISIS?

Are Western Evangelicals Sleeping On ISIS?

Evangelical author and former vice president of Liberty University, Johnnie Moore, asserted in a book to be published in April, that Western Christians don’t care enough about the threat posed by the Islamic State, which is attempting to wipe out Christianity in the Middle East.

Christian Post Report – “I am convinced that one of the reasons why Christians in the West haven’t been more supportive of Christians in the East is not that they don’t care about the situation, they just chose not to care for it,” Moore asserted in a Monday interview with The Christian Post. “It is just not relevant to their lives. Everybody has their own lives, and their own problems, and their own jobs, and kids and all these things.”

Can You Guarantee Your Child Will Love Christ?

Can You Guarantee Your Child Will Love Christ?

“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
We have heard it preached from the pulpit for years. “If you are a good parent and train up your kids in the Christian faith they will not leave the faith.”

Christian Post Report – I’ve preached it from the pulpit and chances are that you have too. The problem is this doesn’t work.
Many children of good Christian parents choose to leave the Christian faith every year. When this happens parents tend to blame themselves.

“What did I do wrong?”

The belt will merely be a bonus for the winner of the highly anticipated fight. Based on the contract the fighters signed, Mayweather is expected to receive $180 million in cash, while Pacquiao gets 40 percent of the prize at $120 million.

Boxing fans had earlier voted for the emerald green diamond-studded design over an onyx version 53 percent to 47 percent after the WBC held a public vote for both belt designs on their website.

Previously, the WBC presented a diamond version of the championship belt that they awarded to Pacquiao after he defeated Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto in twelve rounds in 2009. It also awarded another diamond belt to Mayweather for his 2013 defeat of Mexican fighter, Saul Alvarez.

This year’s specially crafted WBC championship belt is on the line for what is being dubbed the “Fight for Eternity” between Mayweather and Pacquiao, a match that has been nearly six years in the making.

According to the WBC, the belt’s new design was created to reflect what is being called one of the most momentous fights in boxing history, and “to appropriately recognize the winner of this titanic and epic event.”

The Mayweather – Pacquiao fight is expected to break pay-per-view and live-gate sales records.

Chris Brown Reminds Ex Karrueche Tran to ‘Be A Lady’

Karrueche Tran Instagram/ karrueche

Karrueche Tran

Christian Post Report – Karrueche Tran has publicly severed ties with her on-off boyfriend Chris Brown earlier this month, but it appears that the singer may not be quite over his model ex-girlfriend yet as he took to Instagram to comment on a racy picture which she posted on Tuesday, March 17.

The photo shows the 26-year old model in Cancun, Mexico, wearing a bikini. She captioned the shot, “I’m president of the Itty Bitty Committee #ThirstyTuesday”.

Brown posted a comment on the picture and wrote, “Thirst trap 101…Continue to be a lady beautiful…U are perfect…Don’t let the Thot form from anger.”

Brown may have been alluding to the anger that Tran expressed on March 4, when she tweeted her goodbyes to the singer in light of the news that he is the father to a 9-month-old baby girl reportedly named Royalty.

“Listen, One can only take so much,” she tweeted. “The best of luck to Chris and his family. No baby drama for me.”

After ending their relationship of four years, Tran has been taking to social media on a regular basis to post pictures of her partying with her friends and other men. Though it appears as though the model is unaffected by the shocking development, Tran is set to appear on “Iyanla: Fix My Life” in an interview with inspirational speaker and host Iyanla Vanzant on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network to talk about her failed relationship with Brown.

In a teaser that was released on Tuesday, Vanzant fires off at Tran: “He betrayed you. He lied to you. He did it all publicly,” before asking, “How did you find out that he had a baby by another woman?”

According to the press release, Tran sets the record straight and reveals to viewers a side of herself that has never been seen before with Vanzant’s help.

“Karrueche talks candidly with Iyanla about life in the spotlight, as well as her relationship with Chris Brown and subsequent breakup after he allegedly fathered a child with another woman. Best friend Christina Milian provides Iyanla another perspective on Karrueche’s situation,” it reads.

Vanzant’s interview with Tran will air at 8 p.m. ET on March 28 on OWN.
