‘Deadpool’ Movie and Cast News: Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano Confirmed for Film

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Christian Post Report – After what fans called a disappointing appearance in the movie “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” the psychologically unstable mercenary and “anti-hero” Deadpool will have his own solo movie, simply entitled “Deadpool.” Twentieth Century Fox finally greenlighted the movie in 2014, five years after the 2009 “Wolverine” movie. It will be released in theaters on February 12, 2016.

Ryan Reynolds, who played Deadpool in the Origins movie, was the first cast member confirmed sometime in December 2014. He is said to be working closely with the movie’s director, Tim Miller, who will make his directorial debut with this film.

Reynolds is said to be big fan of the character. In the report, he came out assuring even the “most rabid of fans” that the upcoming movie will be loyal to the “canon of the character.”

“I’m incredibly happy about it – we’ve got a director that understands that world, and writers with a slavish devotion to the canon of that character. That’s the most important aspect: it’s made in a way the most critical of fanboys could embrace,” he told Cinema Blend.

Miller is known for his work as a Virtual FX artist as well as the creator of effects company Blur Studio. During the time when 20th Century Fox was not yet decided on making the movie, Miller teamed up with Reynolds to come up with test footage based on a portion of an existing script. The footage eventually wound up online after studio executives reportedly rejected it. For the fans however, it was a hit. Deadpool creator and comic book writer/artist Rob Liefeld believed that it was the fans who clamored to make the movie happen.

Confirmed cast members include Morena Baccarin of “Firefly” who is rumored to play Deadpool’s love interest; T.J. Miller of “Silicon Valley” will likely be Deadpool’s sidekick Weasel and MMA fighter Gina Carano as the supermutant Angel Dust. Cast to play the villain is “Game of Thrones” actor Ed Skrein.

The “Deadpool” screenplay will be penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It is not clear whether they will use an earlier script they wrote back in 2010, but they are said to be working closely with Reynolds.

Deadpool or Wade Winston Wilson is a Marvel Comics character that appeared in “New Mutants” #98 in February 1991. He is also known as the “Merc with the Mouth” because he talks non-stop. His primary power is an accelerated healing factor that makes him virtually immortal and immune to most diseases.

THe NFL Announces Proposed Rule Changes for the 2015 Season

NFL NFL

The NFL wants to expand its playoff tournament

Christian Post Report – The NFL has announced its rule change proposal, bylaw change proposals, and resolution change proposals that will be discussed by the Competition Committee next week at the annual league meetings in Arizona. For any of these changes to take effect 24 of the 32 owners will have to vote for them, and given how many there are this year it would seem that not all of them.

The single resolution to be considered is to allow teams with a retractable roof to open it during halftime. The proposed by law changes include allowing more pre-draft contact between teams and players, the elimination of the 75 player cut down, and other roster oriented items.

The big news and the most pressuring concerns are the rules of play and there are a number of proposals that seem very intriguing. According to Pro Football Talk all of the following rule changes will be discussed:

— Allow any call to be challenged.

— Allow penalties to be challenged.

— Allow coaches to challenge personal fouls.

— Allow personal fouls to be reviewed, but not necessarily on coaches’ challenges.

— Make all fouls that result in automatic first downs reviewable.

— Allow replay review of rulings related to hits on defenseless receivers.

— Review every foul for hits on defenseless players.

— Increase the number of coaches’ challenges from two to three.

— Add the game clock at the end of the half and end of the game to the list of things that can be reviewed on replay.

— Add the play clock to the list of things that can be reviewed on replay.

— Put fixed cameras on all boundaries of the playing field, sidelines, goal line.

— Allow a “bonus try” after a two-point conversion.

— Do not allow players to push rushers when a team is punting. (This is already the rule on field goals and extra points.)

— Guarantee both teams a possession in overtime.

— Ban peelback blocks by any offensive player.

— Give defensive players “defenseless receiver” protection on interceptions.

— If there’s a dead ball foul, unsportsmanlike conduct or taunting at the end of the first half, it will carry over to the second half.

— Ban running backs from chop blocking outside the tackle box.

— Allow linebackers to wear jersey numbers 40-49 in addition to 50-59 and 90-99.

— If an eligible player reports as an ineligible receiver to the referee, he must align within the tackle box.

Happiness Without Sin

But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”
— Luke 11:28

Christian Post Report – It is hard for some people to believe, but you can have a happy life without sin. Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” (Luke 11:28). There is happiness in hearing, believing, and keeping the Word of God.

Greg Laurie, senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California and Harvest Orange County in Irvine, California, shares the Gospel with a sold-out crowd of 19,000 for Harvest America at the American Airlines Center and Victory Park in Dallas, Texas, Oct. 5, 2014.

To be honest, there is some happiness in sin. There is some fun in sin. I think sometimes that Christians are reluctant to admit that sin isn’t always miserable. In fact, the writer of Hebrews said that Moses “refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin” (11:24–25, emphasis added).

But sin comes with a price—a hefty price. I’m sure it would be very pleasurable to jump out of an airplane and fly through the air without a parachute. I think it would be the ultimate rush. I think it would be better than any roller coaster or any amusement. But then you are going to hit the ground. So there is fun for a time, but inevitably there is a payday.

There will be pleasure in sin for a season—temporarily. But then the repercussions kick in. The Bible warns that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). For a moment of pleasure, you can have a lifetime of regret. But if you keep the Word of God, you will be happy.

James 1:12 says, “Blessed is the man who endures temptation.” Sometimes you don’t feel that way when you’re tempted, because temptation is appealing of course. But when you choose to walk away from temptation, you’ll be glad that you did.

You can have a happy life without sin. And this comes from reading, studying, memorizing, and obeying the Word of God.

The Buffalo Bills Make a Big Offer to TE Charles Clay

Charles Clay reuters.com

The Buffalo Bills have signed TE Charles Clay to an offer sheet

The Buffalo Bills have been very active this offseason. After their head coach, somewhat surprisingly, decided to step down the Bills went out and hired Rex Ryan. Ryan came into town and immediately started recruiting talent to place around young QB EJ Manuel. They traded fro RB LeSean McCoy to give their young QB a safety valve in the running game. They brought in Percy Harvin to give him a down the field target, and now they have extend a big time offer to TE Charles Clay.

Clay would be good fit for an offense that will likely rely on the running game and short to intermediate passes. Since being draft by Miami in the sixth round of the 201 draft Clay has caught 161 passes for over 1800 yards and 14 touch downs. He would be a perfect fit in Buffalo and give Manuel another pass catching option.

“It’s a five-year, $38 million contract with more than $20 million guaranteed,” Pro Football Talk reported.

Clay was given the transition tag by Miami and they now have five days to match the offer however given the fact that they already signed Jordan Cameron to a two year deal and will have to navigate a huge cap hit in the near future for Ndamukong Suh Miami is not expected to match the offer.

John Wawrow of Yahoo Sports reports that Buffalo made Clay one of their off season priorities, “The Bills made Clay one of their top free-agent targets this offseason. Clay traveled to Buffalo by private jet on March 10, the first day of the league’s signing period. He then spent several days in town to meet with team officials and tour the region.”

If the Bills do get Clay they would have had one of the best off seasons of all 32 NFL teams.

Phillip Rivers Will Let His Current Contract Run Out Before Resigning

Phillip Rivers reuters.com

Phillip Rivers does not plan to sign an extension before his contract runs out

Christian Post Report – Phillip Rivers will not sign a contract extension until his current deal runs out at the end of the 2015 season. The other elite Quarterbacks taken in the 2004 draft (most notable Eli Manning and Ben Rothlisberger) have been signed to extensions before their current deals expired. However, Rivers who has a large family is not as ready to sign on with the San Diego Chargers since there are lots of rumors the team will relocate to Los Angeles some time in the near future.

Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that the Chargers are bringing in Marcus Mariota, a prized QB prospect in the coming NFL draft, for a pre draft workout. The Chargers currently hold the 17th pick in the first round and would need to trade up to have a shot at drafting him. That has led to rumors that the Chargers would deal the 11-year veteran to the Tennessee Titans to try and move all the way up to the second pick.

However, if Rivers is unwilling to relocate his family to L.A., just up the road from San Diego, it would seem he would not welcome a trade across the country. He would have few options, but after 11 years he has made enough money to retire from football all together. Any team trading for Rivers would be assuming a lot of risk.

“What we’ve established here with my growing family is hard to recreate. It’s hard to up and recreate that. Rivers told Pro Football Talk Rivers about uprooting his family. “I know that moves are part of life. But that certainly is fair to say that [not being sold on moving to Los Angeles] is part of it. The good thing is I’m not under contract in a year where we’d potentially be in Los Angeles.”

Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. News, Update: Filipino Fighter Undergoes Random Drug Test

Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao

Christian Post Report – News about the highly anticipated Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather Jr. May 2 bout indicates that the former underwent a random drug test over the weekend.

The fighting Filipino congress member had the drug test two days after he agreed to submit himself to the proposed Olympic-style drug testing, Yahoo! Sports reported.

A local Philippine news outlet revealed that the eight-division boxing world champion had given “blood and urine samples” to a medical technician who came to the boxer’s training center in Los Angeles “unannounced.”

The samples submitted, as further detailed out, will be examined for human growth hormone (HGH), erythropoietin (EPO), and other substances.

Both Pacquiao and Mayweather agreed on a deal to undergo the random drug testing, which is to be administered by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency before and after the Las Vegas fight.

In related news, tensions continue to build between the two boxing camps. Just this week, Pac-Man’s famed trainer Freddie Roach voiced out his distaste for the currently undefeated boxer, implying that Mayweather is a bad seed and bad influence for the young generation.

“I mean he’s not a good guy, he’s not a good person, he’s not a good role model,” Roach told the sports analyst Jim Rome. “I’ve never seen him dislike an opponent in my life, but you know what, he [Pacquiao] doesn’t like this guy [Mayweather].”

Chicago Blackhawks vs New York Rangers Live Stream Free: Watch NHL Hockey Online

Rangers Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Rangers.

Christian Post Report – The New York Rangers try to extend their five-game winning streak as they host the Chicago Blackhawks at Madison Square Garden in the NHL. The match is on March 18, 2015 and starts at 8 p.m. ET.

On top of the Metropolitan Division with 95 points, the Rangers are holding off steady competition from neighbors New York Islanders. They have shown their championship potential in recent games and have proven they are still one of the elite teams in the league.

The most impressive thing about their current winning streak is that only their most recent win against the Florida Panthers was at the Garden.

They beat the Blackhawks, Islanders, Washington Capitals and Buffalo Sabres in their own arenas.

In their win against the Blackhawks at the United Center, Derick Brassard scored the game winner in overtime to get two points. Despite playing as guests, the Rangers dominated the shots on goal 36-29.

On the other hand, Chicago are looking to avenge that loss and add another New York team to their list of victims.

The Western Conference team are third in the Central Division and are riding a three-game win streak as well.

They recently beat the Islanders at home behind an excellent night by Jonathan Toews. The captain scored the team’s first two goals and had a hand in the other two as he assisted on both goals of Marian Hossa.

Prior to that win they dominated the San Jose Sharks 6-2 and beat the Arizona Coyotes 2-1.

With this their final meeting in the regular season, New York hold a slight advantage of playing at home. Chicago have lost the last two meetings played at the Garden.

Martin St. Louis is still listed as day-to-day for the Rangers following a lower body injury, while Chicago’s welcome back Joakim Nordstrom after serving his suspension.

‘Insidious: Chapter 3’ New Trailer Video, News: New International Teaser Unveiled

Insidious: Chapter 3 FACEBOOK/ Insidious

Blumhouse Productions’ upcoming horror-thriller film “Insidious: Chapter 3”

Christian Post Report – The latest international trailer for Blumhouse’s upcoming horror thriller offering “Insidious: Chapter 3” was released last week and for those who missed it doesn’t have to bother themselves looking for the video.

The trailer, as indicated by Enstarz.com, offered pretty much nothing new as to what has been unveiled in the first teaser last year.

The clip, tagged with the “darkest chapter,” features Dermot Mulroney playing the father named Sean to Stefanie Scott’s Sue. Same as the previous sneak peek, Sue is seen being wheeled in by her dad into their new apartment.

The horror ensues as the badly injured character retires to her bedroom and heard a mysterious knocking from the other side of her room’s wall.

Touted to be more hauntingly terrifying as the first two installments, the new film series will see yet another unsuspecting family taken into the otherworld known as “The Further.”

The upcoming film is also reported to predate the haunting of the Lambert family which was featured in the two previous movies. Furthermore, it will offer fans a deeper insight into the mysteries of the otherworldly realm and its hostile ghostly inhabitants.

Joining Mulroney and Scott are Lin Shaye who will play as Elise Rainier, Leigh Whannel as Specs, Angus Sampson as Tucker, Hayley Kiyoko as Maggie, Ashton Moio as Hector, Steve Coulter as Carl, and Elle Keats as Lilith.

Blumhouse executive producer and founder Jason Blum meanwhile informed the media that Insidious 3 and Sinister 2 might be the first step for the production house to follow the shared world trend currently popularized by Marvel on its Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“We’re not close to an ‘Avengers’, but I do like the idea of having the worlds collide in the different franchises we work on. That’s a really cool idea … I want to continue to do that,” Blum said.

“Insidious: Chapter 3” is slated to hit the theaters this June 5, 2015.
