‘Game of Thrones’ Season 5 Skips Several Plots of ‘A Song of Fire and Ice’

HBO’s “Game of Thrones”

Christian Post Report – “Game of Thrones” Season 5 is due to premiere on HBO in three weeks, but will be leaving out several plots from the original epic novels.

Fans of George R.R Martin’s fantasy epic series, “A Song of Fire and Ice” will be missing several plotlines from the books when the Season 5 of its TV miniseries, “Game of Thrones” opens on HBO on April 8.

Among the plots the award-winning miniseries will be skipping include:

The young Aegon Targaryen. While the books indicate Aegon, Rhaegar Targaryen’s heir who was supposedly killed by The Mountain along with the rest of his siblings, appears to be an important force in “A Song of Fire and Ice,” “GoT” Season 5 seems to deleted his character completely.

Quentyn Martell. In “A Dance with Dragons,” Prince Doran Martell’s son makes a dangerous journey across the Narrow Sea to Volantis and disguises himself and his companions as one of the Windblown mercenaries to woo Daenerys Targaryen in Meereen, only to meet his fiery death from Rhaegal’s fire. During the announcement of the Season 5 cast, no character was pegged to play Dorne’s heir apparent.

Tyrion’s time as a slave. In the book, after he crossbows his father in the gut, Tyrion flees to Meereen via networks set up by Varys and Illyrio Mopatis. En route, he is captured by Jorah Mormont, and both are captured by slavers. As a slave, Tyrion is forced to become a servant and put on mock jousts with another dwarf, Penny. In Season 5, based on trailers and posters released by HBO, Tyrion’s stint as a slave is glossed over completely and he meets dragons straight away.

However, “GoT” Season 5 may be featuring a look into Cersei’s past when she has her fortune told by Maggy the Frog, who foresees her as queen, as well as the birth of her children and her death.

Audiences will also have a 100 percent chance of seeing Cersei’s naked walk of shame from the Great Sept all the way to the Red Keep after she is ordered imprisoned by the fanatical High Sparrow.

‘iZombie’ New Show Premieres on The CW

iZombie Facebook/ cwizombie

Rose McIver as Liv in The CW’s new show, iZombie

Christian Post Report – Fans of the zombie genre who are looking for something a little more like “Warm Bodies” than “The Walking Dead” will be happy to know that a new show has premiered on The CW on Tuesday, March 17, which features a female zombie protagonist who has more to offer than your average “walker”.

“iZombie” is a Rob Thomas (‘Veronica Mars’) show based on the DC comics of the same name. Much like Veronica Mars, “iZombie” begins with a young woman experiencing a life-changing trauma at a party. When she wakes up, Liv (Rose McIver) discovers that along with losing her life and becoming a zombie, she has also lost her positive attitude. The ex-medical student soon becomes a coroner who distances herself from those close to her for fear of infecting or harming them.

However, her secret comes out when her boss at the coroner’s office, Dr. Ravi (Rahul Kohli) catches her eating brains at work. But instead of getting scared, Liv’s current state inspires a childlike curiosity in Ravi.

Soon, Ravi becomes Liv’s confidant, and she realizes that she doesn’t have to hide. She discovers ways to relate to people, and when detective Clive Babineux (Malcolm Goodwin) stops by the coroner’s office stuck on a case, Liv discovers that by eating a brain, she takes on the memories of the deceased’s life, and sometimes it even includes the exact moment of their death. Liv also takes on certain aspects of the deceased’s personality, which gives the show a lot of comedic moments.

“Zombies are ridiculous,” said Kohli to TVGuide. “I think with something so ridiculous like that, comedy helps sell it a little bit. It’s got to be one of the two. You either commit to it, you go serious and you go hard and you go ‘Walking Dead’, which is a brilliant show. Or you do the opposite, and you see the lighter side of that and you kind of take it with a pinch of salt and enjoy it as entertainment.”

“iZombie” airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW.

From Playing Jesus to Playing the Devil? ‘The Bible’s’ Diogo Morgado Poses as Villain in Exclusive Pic From ‘The Messengers’

The Messengers (Photo: Courtesy of Grace Hill Media)

“The Messengers” premieres on The CW on April 17, 2015.

Roma Downey and Mark Burnett’s “The Bible” series star Diogo Morgado is now starring in a new television series “The Messengers” where he is taking on a much different role.

The Portuguese actor is well known for his role as Jesus in 2013’s hit “Bible” series, but today, Morgado is seizing quite the opposite role as a devil-like character in The CW’s forthcoming series “The Messengers.” The actor, who also starred in the film “Son of God,” portrays the mysterious Satan-like character “The Man” in the series, which is set to air on April 17. In a first look at Morgado as the devil, The Christian Post revealed a poster for “The Messengers” featuring the actor ensconced in char and flames.

“When evil rises, good awakens,” the poster reads.

“The Man” is a far cry from Morgado’s long-haired, gentle role as Jesus in both the “The Bible” series and “Son of God,” and the actor is almost unrecognizable in the new poster with his hair cut short wearing an evil grimace. However, it comes as no surprise that Morgado was tapped for the powerful role of “The Man.” The actor left a lasting impression on audiences while portraying Jesus on the Emmy nominated “The Bible” series, which was the highest-rated cable show of 2013.

Meanwhile, “The Messengers” centers around five individuals who suddenly die as a result of a comet striking the earth. After becoming Angels, each of the five gain special powers and are returned to earth in order to fight evil during the Armageddon. Among their many enemies is The Man, a Satan-like character who threatens the safety of humanity.

Morgado stars in the new series alongside Shantel VanSanten, Jon Fletcher, Craig Frank and Anna Diop, among many more. “The Messengers” premieres on The CW on Friday, April 17 at 9 p.m. ET.

Juventus got off to the perfect start in the first leg of their match, winning 2-1 to gain an aggregate advantage as they head to Dortmund.

Carlos Tevez wowed the crowd in the 13th minute of their first meeting, scoring in front of a packed Juventus Stadium.

However, Marco Reus leveled things with an 18th-minute strike, also giving Dortmund an important away goal.

A link-up play between Paul Pogba and Alvaro Morata in the 42nd resulted in another goal for Juventus as they held on to win.

The match was evenly played, with both teams putting out nine shots each, while Dortmund enjoyed 59 percent of the possession.

And they should be able to try and use the positives from the first match if they want to turn things around and progress from home.

Andrea Pirlo and Martin Caceres were in the lineup in the first leg but will be out for Juventus in the second as they are getting treatment for their respective injuries. They have been added to a long list of absences for the Serie A giants.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Was Almost Cancelled, Says Game Director

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Opening Scene YouTube/File

YouTube screenshot of the opening scene of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

Christian Post Report – “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD” was successfully released for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One on March 17, 2015. This is the game’s debut for Western audiences. “Final Fantasy Type-0,” the original version was released in Japan in October 2011.

In a recent report in IGN, the game’s director Hajime Tabata revealed that the game’s developers came close to cancelling its development in favor of another game called “The 3rd Birthday.” Tabata was heavily involved in both games’ development in 2010. “The 3rd Birthday” was released in March 2011, earlier than “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.”

Tabata said that “management gave (him) direct orders to focus on developing The 3rd Birthday, requiring me to step away from developing Final Fantasy Type-0 for about a year.”

After its release in Japan in October 2011, the development team started to work on a high definition version of the game. Development officially started in the middle of 2012 but the team was experimenting on porting the game to HD during an earlier stage in its development.

No new gameplay was developed for the HD version. The team “focused on upgrading the graphics, adjusting existing gameplay for home consoles, and including a lower difficulty level.” Apparently the original version of the game released in Japan was too difficult.

The game’s story follows Class Zero, a class of 12 students from a magical academy called Vermillion Peristylium, in the Dominion of Rubrum. When their home is attacked by the Militesi Empire, the group of young students is called into action to defeat the enemy forces and defend their home. According to Wikipedia, the developers intentionally wanted the game’s setting and presentation to be of “historical documentaries” style and for its story to be “darker than other ‘Final Fantasy’ titles.”

The game was originally designed for mobiles and PSP, but mobile development was eventually cancelled in 2011.

Tom Berenger Talks ‘Lonesome Dove Church’ and Preferring Charlton Heston’s ‘Ten Commandments’ Over ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’

“Lonesome Dove Church” is available on DVD on March 24.

Oscar-nominated actor Tom Berenger recently voiced his opinion of some of today’s faith films, including his latest project, “Lonesome Dove Church,” just days before its March 24th release.

Christian Post Report – Unlike other faith-based films available today, “Lonesome Dove Church” is based on real events that led to the foundation of the church in the U.S. during the 1800’s. Berenger, who is well-known for his roles in films such as “Inception” and the TV miniseries “Hatfields & McCoys,” portrays an itinerant preacher, John Shepherd, who has dreams of building his own church in the stirring western.

“Lonesome Dove Church” joins the ranks of other faith-based releases today including “God’s Not Dead,” but offers a historically accurate depiction of Christians as well as the church in the U.S. Just ahead of the American Civil War, Shepherd is compelled to defend his only son Isaac against a cold-blooded killer while carefully navigating the western frontier. Furthermore, Berenger explained that his character puts his faith and his future on the line by taking an abolitionist stance and springing to defend Isaac against accusations of robbery and murder.

“The opening scene is in a Missouri church during a sermon talking about slavery, and he’s against it, but Missouri is a border state and you see some people in the audience nodding in agreement and others are like, ‘I don’t know about this,'” the actor told The Christian Post. “They are upset with him. And that’s exactly what happened in the border states.”

The actor went on to provide a special lens for “Lonesome Dove Church,” citing the rich American history that is pivotal to the film’s plot.

“West Virginia succeeded from the unionists, Maryland was divided in two, and Kentucky was divided in two,” Berenger explained. “[President] Lincoln’s wife was from Kentucky and had four or five brothers killed in the war … you can imagine what a basket case she was. And here is her husband bringing it all about, but she backed him. And they weren’t the only families either. And those states out there, not many people hear about it because they didn’t have the huge battles but it was pretty nasty out there.”

Berenger also added his opinion of the numerous faith-based films available today, including the latest “10 Commandments” remake starring Christian Bale, “Exodus: Gods and Kings.” Although the actor could not explain the upsurge in Bible-based films, he praised early Christian films of both the ’60’s and ’80’s.

“I don’t know, but if I was going to watch ‘The 10 Commandments,’ I think I would watch the old movie with Charlton Heston,” Berenger said. “It’s four hours long and I loved it. That’s the one I would prefer to see. And for Easter, ‘Ben Hur,’ it’s hard to beat those films.”

Berenger stars alongside Greyston Holt in “Lonesome Dove Church,” which is available on DVD, Digital HD and On Demand on March 24. Watch the trailer for the film here.

Jessa Duggar Ready to Start a Family With Husband Ben Seewald

Jessa Duggar (Photo: Instagram/JessaDuggar)

Jessa Duggar and husband Ben Seewald

Christian Post Report – Jessa Duggar revealed that she and husband Ben Seewald are ready to start their family, even if it means not necessarily adopting right away.

The couple recently spoke about wanting to adopt, but that will take at least two years due to rules that explicitly state potential adoptive parents must be married for two years before beginning the process. Yet that is not stopping Jessa and Ben from fulfilling the dream they’ve had since before getting married in Nov.

“We hope to adopt a lot of kids,” Jessa told People in Feb. “If God blesses us with biological kids of our own, it’s not going to quench our desire to adopt. Even before we married, we wanted to adopt.”

On an upcoming episode of “19 Kids & Counting,” Jessa and Ben spend time with Jill and her husband Derick, who are currently expecting their own child. The couples talk about future plans and family, as well as Jessa’s upcoming wedding.

“I’m really excited to have a future niece or nephew I’ll get to spoil,” Jessa reveals. “It just makes me stop and think man, that could be Ben and I real soon. I guess I’m ready for it. I mean, I don’t think I’d be getting married if I didn’t think I was ready to start a family.”

The two are currently on a speaking tour with the Southern Women’s Show in order to promote her book Growing Up Duggar as well as answering general questions about married life and reality TV.

“Hopefully really soon,” Ben said when asked when they planned to start their families.

“And we also hope to adopt,” Jessa added.

“Yes, we see a need in our own community and would like to start there,” Ben said of the adoption process, “but we want to adopt a lot of kids so hopefully both.”

The newlyweds will have their wedding featured on the next season of “19 Kids & Counting” on TLC.

Christian Post Report – In the first leg of the competition, Barcelona dominated City as they went on to win 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Suarez REUTERS/ALBERT GEA

Luis Suarez celebrates his goal.

Luis Suarez opened up the scoring in the 16th minute of the match, then went on to double his tally in the 30th following an assist by Jordi Alba.

Sergio Aguero had a consolation goal for the hosts in the 69th minute but they know that they have to dig deep as they face an aggregate deficit and are heading into one of the toughest stadiums in Camp Nou.

Barcelona dominated the possession in the contest, controlling 60 percent of the time while firing 12 totals shots. City had more corners with eight against Barcelona’s four but were unable to capitalize.

Three Barcelona players were given yellow cards in the heated match, with Dani Alves, Ivan Rakitic and Adriano Correia all being cautioned.

City also had multiple bookings as Fernando was carded, while Gael Clichy received to yellows to be sent off in the 74th minute. As a result, the Frenchman will miss the return leg in Spain.

There are only two reported injuries before the match, both for the Catalans, as Sergio Busquets will sit out due to an ankle injury, while Thomas Vermaelen is still bothered by his hamstring.

In terms of form, City are currently looking for a positive turnaround. They have only won one in their last three matches across all competitions, with their latest a 1-0 loss to Burnley. In the English Premier League they are second to Chelsea, six points behind with the London club still having a game in hand.

For Barcelona, they have been streaking. Three straight wins in the La Liga have boosted them to the top of the table, with a slim one points lead over Real Madrid.
