Randall Cobb resigns with the Green Bay Packers

Christian Post Report – Randall Cobb was an integral piece of the Green Bay Packers offense. Cobb was also the top free agent wide out on the market. While other teams, most notably the Oakland Raiders, are in a position to offer him more cash, Cobb is staying right were he is. The Packers have agreed on terms for a new four-year $40 million dollar deal. That means that he and fellow wide out Jordy Nelson will remain QB Aaron Rodgers’ weapons of choice.

 $17 million of the money is guaranteed, and Cobb turned down higher contracts from other NFL teams to stay on the Packers, a source with knowledge of the deal told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Those statements seem to indicate that one or more teams were interested in Cobb, but his familiarity with their offense and the fact that the Packers are in a better position to win now. That is a big blow to the Oakland Raiders who have cap space to send a need a player to get their team back to some sort of relevance both in their own market and nationally.

Packers General Manager Ted Thompson hordes cap space. Cobb was the team’s second round pick (64th overall) in the 2011 draft. The deal runs out before Cobb turns 30 years old, and if he stays healthy, he could be one of those rare big money free agent deals that works out for both team and player.

The packers have done a great job finding and growing their talent, along with having a fair amount of stability on their roster. Cobb and Nelson are both signed through 2018 and that means the Packers are set to contend in the NFC north for the next few seasons at least.

‘I received hundred of heartwarming comments from women who were going through the same thing for years.

‘Lots of people don’t think girls can suffer a porn addiction but it’s a problem for both sexes. I hope I can help others out there – talking about your problem is the first step.’

Can the Detroit Tigers afford another 20 million dollar+ starting pitcher like David Price?

Christian Post Report – One of the Detroit Tigers’ strength the last few seasons was its starting rotation. However, that starting rotation came at a very hefty price in terms of salary and at the start of the 2014 season their GM went about trying to balance out that cost. That off-season he traded away Doug Fister, and last year at the trading deadline he dealt away young left hander Drew Smyly. He did get back one of the most dominant left-handed pitchers in the game today in David Price, but he is only signed through the 2015 season.

This off-season Dave Dombrowski traded away Rick Porcello. This means over a little more than a calendar year the Tigers have lost two front line pitchers (Max Scherzer was lost in free agency) and a back of the rotation lefty. What is left still looks pretty good, but is the starting rotation better off?

The Tigers do still have a very good righty in Justin Verlander and if he bounces back from an off-year, he is the kind of talent that can carry a rotation on his own. They also have Price and Anibal Sanchez who is a very solid mid-rotation pitcher. The big question marks right now are the new comers Alfredo Simon and Shane Greene whop were picked up in the clubs off season dealing.

Kevin Ruprecht of SB Nation broke down the stats. He concludes that in 2015 season, the rotation is a little bit worse off. However, longer term, these deals may just work out to the team’s benefit. He points out that only Verlander and Sanchez are signed past the coming MLB season, meaning the Tigers have flexibility to rebuild on the fly.

When we stop and consider that losing Scherzer and trading Porcello enabled the team to resign DH Victor Martinez and acquire LF Yoenis Cespedes we see that while the rotation is weaker, the overall team roster may in fact be stronger.

Ndaukong Suh is the bigest name of the NFL free agent market. Which team has what it takes to get a deal done?

Christian Post Report – Star Defensive Tackle Ndamukong Suh will sign a $114 million deal on Tuesday with the Miami Dolphins, according to the latest reports. $60 million of that money will be guaranteed.

Suh’s agent has been negotiating the parameters on the six-year deal since the 72-hour negotiating period for free agents began Saturday, NFL sources told ESPN. The Detroit Lions were in the mix, but have likely been outspent by a team with more cap room and will now have around $17 million in cap space to replace their best defensive player and get their roster in shape to contend for a NFC North title.

The Lions were dealt a pretty bad hand here, but through their own mismanagement got themselves into a position where Suh simply wasn’t affordable under the NFL salary cap. Suh was drafted in the last year of the old collective bargaining agreement before there were rookie wage caps. Twice since then the Lions have restructured his deal that pushed salary cap hits to future years. Since using the franchise tag forces a team to pay a player 120 percent of his cap hit from the year before the Lions priced themselves out of a position to be able to afford a substantial cap hit.

Now the focus for the team has to be rebuilding their defensive line, a move hampered by the decision last season to not pick up the option on Nick Fairley’s rookie deal and the decision to draft tight end Eric Ebron in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft. That gives Fairley a lot of leverage in negotiations with them and points to the Lions using a top draft pick to try and find a replacement for Suh.

The Lions are also in need of some help along the offensive line and at the running back position. They are reportedly interested in RB CJ Spiller displaced in Buffalo after they traded for LeSean McCoy.

HBO’s True Blood, starring Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin, is entering its sixth season.

Christian Post Report – “True Blood” alum Anna Paquin is in talks with HBO to produce in and star in a miniseries called “Madame X.”

Oscar winner and “True Blood” actress Anna Pacquin is currently negotiating with HBO on a miniseries, Madame X,” that she and husband Stephen Moyer are developing. Pacquin is set to star in the series, and will serve as the show’s executive producer together with Moyer and “Kung Fu Panda” star Jack Black.

“Madame X” is a period drama based on “My Notorious Life,” a novel written by Kate Manning. It’s the true-to-life story of a Victorian-era second generation Irish woman, midwife Axie Muldoon, who spent her life helping pregnant women keep their babies, or get rid of unwanted ones amidst the squalor of 19th century New York. The book also detailed how she avoided attention from a politician deadset on implementing Victorian morality on society.

The miniseries is both a family saga and a love story about an impoverished and controversial woman who changed the lives of countless other women around her to become one of the wealthiest and infamous females of her time.

“Madame X” marks Pacquin’s first foray into television since “True Blood” ended in 2014 after a six-year run. Pacquin and her husband, “True Blood” co-star, Moyer, are raising their two-and-a-half-year-old fraternal twins while Moyer is currently filming indie thriller “Detour.”

The new miniseries is slated as a starring vehicle for the actress, produced by the couple’s production company, Casm Films, together with Jack Black’s own production outfit.

Lynn Shelton, who helmed “Laggies” and “Your Sister’s Sister,” has signed on to direct the miniseries, with Julia Hart of “The Keeping Room” writing the screenplay.

HBO has yet to release information on when the show is set to premiere.

Christian Post Report – Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra recently signed with ABC to join the cast of the network new terrorist drama series “Quantico.” She will play a female lead role opposite Jake McLaughlin. This is her first assignment in the US and it is also the first time a Bollywood star joins a pilot on ABC, according to reports.

“I took a leap of faith when (ABC head of casting) Keli Lee asked me to join the ABC family, and I’m so excited to be a part of the pilot for ‘Quantico’ alongside an incredibly talented cast and production team,” she told Variety.

Priyanka will play Jake MacLaughlin’s love interest. According to The Daily Mail, the two will meet on a flight where MacLaughlin’s character will charm Priyanka. He will eventually be discovered as pretending to someone he is not.

Other confirmed cast members include Aunjanue Ellis of “The Mentalist,” Dougray Scott of “Taken 3,” Tate Ellington, Graham Rogers, Johanna Braddy and Yasmine Al Massri.

The series will be centered on the story of a group of young FBI recruits as they are going through rigid training in the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Each of the recruits have their own dark backstories and reasons for joining the FBI and this will be explored in the series. One of the recruits will turn out to be a “sleeper terrorist” who took part in the 9/11 terrorist attack in the U.S. The show will toggle between present-day and flashbacks, according to Variety.

The series is penned and executive produced by “Gossip Girl’s” Josh Safran. The network has yet to announce when the series will be shown, but it is among ABC’s line up of pilots for TV season 2015-2016.

Priyanka has more than 20 films under her belt and also won the Miss Universe crown in 2000. She will continue to work in Bollywood while working with ABC.

Christian Post Report – Kendall Jenner has a lot of Parisian fans, apparently. During Paris Fashion Week, the 19-year-old was mobbed by a very enthusiastic crowd of her adoring fans after she just finished walking the runway for Balmain on Thursday, March 5.

According to the Daily Mail, earlier that day, her sister, Kim Kardashian and brother in law Kanye West got the same treatment as they headed to see Jenner on the Balmain runway.

In video footage from the crowded streets, Jenner can be seen attempting to make her way through a massive mob of people looking very distressed. Fans attempted to touch her and take pictures of the model, while some attempted to get her to sign autographs.

A lone security guard placed an arm around Jenner as he attempted to make his way through the crowd. Eventually, guard managed to guide the model to a waiting car.

The next day, Jenner had another run in with an overeager female fan while visiting the famed Pont des Arts bridge, also known as the love lock bridge, in Paris with fellow model and good friend Gigi Hadid.

As the two were walking along the bridge, the fan was in close proximity with them before she attempted to hug and kiss Jenner. A member of the model’s security detail had to pull the female admirer away.

After the fan encounter, Jenner and Hadid managed to carry on with their day as they were seen and photographed tossing the keys to their padlock into the river Seine after managing to find a spot to attach their lock. The Daily Mail reports that the models commemorated the visit by scribbling “PFW AW15 3/6” on their padlock.

The cast of Guardians of the Galaxy will reprise their roles in the sequel, slated for a 2017 release

Christian Post Report – After the huge success of the first film in 2014, Marvel fans are eagerly anticipating the next installment “Guardians of the Galaxy 2.” As early as summer 2014, the film’s writer and director James Gunn, announced that a sequel was in the works and is set for release on May 5, 2017.

Even if the sequel is still at an early development stage, numerous reports about plot details and new characters have been released. Some if not most of these plot details, according to some reports, were shared by director James Gunn himself, either through interviews or through social media posts.

The report in Screen Rant claims that it is almost certain that the entire cast of “guardians” will return in the second film – Peter Quill, Gamora, Groot, Drax and Rocket Raccoon – alongside Yondu and Kraglin. The villains who are returning are Nebula and The Collector. It is said that Thanos, Gamora’s adoptive father, may make an appearance or two. Gunn also revealed that there will be two female characters among the guardians in the sequel and some reports are speculating that it may be a new Marvel hero that will be introduced in the film. The director himself teased this in a tweet, saying that he will definitely introduce a new hero.

Some reports are ripe with speculation on who this new hero could possibly be. The Screen Rant report lists as many as 12 characters, but it narrows it down to Adam Warlock, Mantis, Moondragon and Phyla-Vell. All four of these characters appeared in the 2008-2010 run of the comics and all played crucial roles.

Another important reveal that will be made in the sequel is the identity of Peter Quill’s father, which according to reports will not follow the comics story line.

The latest casting rumor heard was the apparent interest of Al Pacino to play a role in the film. Pacino is said to be a big fan of the movie, and one report in Cinema Blend even confirmed he had a conversation with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Gunn also tweeted about wanting to work with Al Pacino. But no official word has come from either side yet.

Bungie, the creator of the first-person shooter game “Destiny,” announced during the San Francisco Game Development Conference that the game now has over 17 million registered users. According to the user research study that was presented, the average playing time of each user is pegged at three hours per day, which is higher than what Bungie initially expected when they developed the game.

When the game was launched in September 2014, the game’s creators promised that it will continuously provide new content for the game within a 10 year period, which for them meant “building on” and enhancing the existing universe of the game rather than “restarting periodically.” During its launch, Bungie confirmed that there will be two expansion packs of downloadable content: “The Dark Below” and “The House of Wolves.” “The Dark Below,” the first expansion pack, was released in December 2014. “The House of Wolves,” on the other hand did not get a definite release date, with an estimated release date sometime during the second quarter of 2015.

In early February, rumors about a March release date for “The House of Wolves” started circulating, which were not confirmed. Come early March, several reports also came out that the second expansion pack will be ready by May 19. According to an IGN report, a Reddit user claimed that the pack will be unlocked by that time.

“The Queen’s Fallen have purchased their freedom with Awoken blood. Hunt down the traitors and your debt to the Queen will be paid.” It will include “new story missions and a new raid, along with three fresh multiplayer maps and a new strike,” a description about “The House of Wolves” expansion pack says.

All of these reports and leaks have been shared in an official forum for “Destiny.” The community manager of Bungie’s official forum, however, warned users that until Bungie makes official announcements about the game, none of what has been shared online is final.

Sony is getting pretty close to delivering the much anticipated Android Lollipop update for the Sony Xperia Z3 smartphones.

Christian Post Report – A report from WCCFTech.com indicated that the firmware for the Lollipop OS on the current-gen Z-series flagship has already gained the “Wi-Fi Alliance’s certification.”

This goes to say that the tech giant is perhaps “in the final stages of development of the update” for the Z3 and on its later reiterations.

“By the looks of things, the Japanese manufacturer isn’t in that much of a rush to update its devices with Android Lollipop however,” the site noted.

A dry run of the Lollipop on the Z3 was actually spotted during the MWC event in Barcelona. The video, which was recently uploaded on YouTube, offers a great deal of insight on how the latest Z-series phone looks like with the latest OS.

The smartphone did run “quite smoothly” with the Lollipop along with its trademark UI features including card based notifications, drop down settings and more others.

Other than the Z3, Sony also unveiled the Sony M4 Aqua with Lollipop in their MWC display booth. Although the changes are mostly under the hood, the recently-unveiled phone still exhibits the popular Material design in addition to the company’s proprietary Xperia theme.

Sony, meanwhile, went to their social media to announce that it will skip the Lollipop updates to non Xperia Z-series phones and will remain running on Android KitKat.
