Feminist Group Claims Responsibility for Spate of Shocking Attacks on Pro-Lifers, German Churches

A group of radical feminists have taken credit for a shocking string of attacks on pro-life advocates in Germany.

At the end of December, an evangelical church in the town of Tübingen was spray-painted and a nearby minibus set ablaze. The attack caused an estimated $45,000-worth of damage, according to the National Catholic Register.

Not long after the attack, an admission letter was posted by a group called the “Feminist Autonomous Cell,” who accused the church of exposing “anti-feminist attitudes,” by supporting pro-life causes.

Days later, the group admitted attacking a car belonging to pro-life journalist, Gunnar Schupelius. Shockingly, in a bid to incite further violence, the group published Schupelius’s home address.

A week later, Feminist Autonomous Cell struck again, vandalizing St. Elisabeth church in Berlin, supposedly because the building hosted a warm-up event for September’s “March for Life” – an event that drew some 8,000 attendees. The violent group insisted that their attack was justified because the March for Life champions “fundamentalist, anti-trans, homophobic, anti-Semitic, misogynist, patriarchal and right-wing conservative” speakers.

This heinous claim was immediately refuted by The Federal Association for the Right to Life, who issued a statement noting that they simply “promote the cause, namely the unrestricted…

Three Christian Teachers Killed in Northeast Kenya, Sources Say

Three Christian Teachers Killed in Northeast Kenya, Sources Say

NAIROBI, Kenya, January 14, 2020 (Morning Star News) – Somali Al Shabaab rebels killed three Christian teachers in northeast Kenya at about 2:30 a.m. on Monday (Jan. 13), sources said.

“One of the attackers said, ‘We cannot allow infidels to teach our children,’ and there and then fired at three teachers as I managed to escape through the window,” a surviving teacher told Morning Star News.

He said the attackers arrived at the primary boarding school in Kamuthe, Garissa County, as the teachers were sleeping, ordered them out of their rooms and separated out the non-local ones who had come from other parts of Kenya – assumed to be Christian as they were not ethnic Somali Muslims predominant in the region near Somalia’s border.

“The Al Shabaab knew our residential rooms,” he said. “The attack is well planned. It is a conspiracy between the Al Shabbab and the local Muslim community.”

The headteacher at the school has instructed him and other teachers not to reveal the names of the victims out of fear of retaliation from Al Shabaab. The headteacher also declined to share their names with Morning Star News.

While the identities of the three slain teachers has not been revealed, an area pastor said the victims were among four non-local teachers who attended his church after coming to the area at the start of the school year last September.

“In early September 2019,…

Most Pastors Say Christians Cannot ‘Speed Up’ Jesus’ Return, Survey Finds

Most Pastors Say Christians Cannot ‘Speed Up’ Jesus’ Return, Survey Finds

A majority of Protestant pastors say Jesus’ return cannot be accelerated due to world events or evangelism, although their views on the issue vary greatly depending on the question, according to a new LifeWay Research survey.

The poll of 1,000 Protestant pastors was released Tuesday and found that 12 percent agreed that “Christians can speed up the return of Christ by supporting geopolitical changes mentioned in the Bible,” while 80 percent disagreed and 8 percent weren’t sure.

Pastors’ beliefs on the issue differed little between evangelical and mainline ministers, although there were some differences among ethnicities.

Twenty percent of African American pastors but 11 percent of white pastors agreed that Christians can speed up Christ’s return by supporting geopolitical changes. Among non-whites and non-blacks, 22 percent agreed.

Pastors 65 and older (16 percent) were more likely to agree with the statement than pastors ages 18 to 44 (9 percent).

“While Scripture specifically says we cannot know the day or the hour of Jesus Christ’s return, we were interested in pastors’ views on whether Christians can play a role in bringing about that return any sooner,” said Scott McConnell, executive director of LifeWay Research. “A large majority of pastors do not see biblical prophecies about future changes among nations as a roadmap for advocating specific…

Man who killed church shooter receives Medal of Courage: The urgency and power of courageous leadership

Jack Wilson leads the volunteer security team at West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas. Before December 29, few outside his friends and family were aware of the significance of his service.

That was the day a man pulled a shotgun from his coat and then shot and killed two people. In a matter of seconds, Wilson shot and killed the shooter.

Wilson received the first-ever Medal of Courage from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday. The governor’s office described the award as the highest honor a Texas governor can give a citizen for those “who display great acts of heroism by risking their own safety to save another’s life.”

“Only God knows who is alive today because of Jack Wilson,” the governor stated. “What we do know is that so many lives were saved because of Jack Wilson’s quick action, his calmness under pressure and, above all else, his courage and his willingness to risk his own life to save the lives of others.”

“When a president is impeached, what should Christians do?”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced yesterday that President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial will begin in the Senate next Tuesday. His statement came after Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi confirmed that the House would vote today on managers to prosecute their case against the president.

These managers will ceremonially walk the articles of impeachment from the House chamber to the Senate, formally presenting them and prompting the trial to commence. (For background on impeachment and biblical reflections, please see Steve Yount’s article on our website: “When a president is impeached, what should a Christian do?“)

Meanwhile, six Democratic Party candidates for president debated last night in Iowa. Elizabeth Warren delivered what many are calling the line of the night, noting that the four men on the stage had lost ten races while the two women—she and Minnesota Sen. Amy…

Why Christian Leaders Struggle with “Dark Nights of the Soul”

By Chuck Lawless

If you read church history at all, you’ll learn that men as faithful to God as Martin Luther and Charles Spurgeon struggled with bouts of at least heaviness, if not depression. I’m convinced more church leaders than we know face these battles. Here are some reasons we do, followed by a simple suggestion when we struggle:

  1. Our calling is a calling of God. We’re blessed to have that calling, but we still answer to the Creator of eternity. That’s a weighty reality that sometimes gets really heavy.
  2. We work with life and death. In fact, we work in the light of eternity, reminding people of life and death matters. Just that fact can pound on our shoulders.
  3. We live with our own sin. No church leader I know wants to be hypocritical in front of church members, but all of us know our own sin issues. Our desire to be leaders of integrity  increases the burden of our own sin.
  4. Sometimes, few people respond to our leading. Jesus warned us that many would not choose the right path, but His warning doesn’t lessen the pain when few people respond positively to our ministry.
  5. We carry the weight of the burdens of others. Yes, we can pray and turn them over to God – but our heart still hurts when others hurt.
  6. Many of us have few real friends. Sometimes we’ve made that choice (wrongly, in my opinion), but it’s still lonely when you bear ministry alone.
  7. We don’t always use spiritual disciplines well. For some, disciplines are sporadic at best. For others, we turn to them…

Megan Rapinoe Speaks out against New Olympic Rules Banning Political Statements: ‘We Will Not Be Silenced’

Megan Rapinoe Speaks out against New Olympic Rules Banning Political Statements: ‘We Will Not Be Silenced’

U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team star Megan Rapinoe is speaking out after the International Olympic Committee published a new set of guidelines for the upcoming games stating that athletes are forbidden from participating in political statements and protests during the games.

Rapinoe, who made headlines last year after she refused to sing the national anthem, responded to the IOC’s policy change noting that she will not be silenced.

“So much being done about the protests. So little being done about what we are protesting about. We will not be silenced,” Rapinoe shared on her Instagram story.

According to Sports Illustrated, Olympic athletes will not be allowed to kneel or make political hand gestures while participating in a sport. The guidelines also note that athletes will not be allowed to show any disrespect during the medal ceremonies.

As Christian Headlines previously reported, Rapinoe first made headlines for her activism in 2016 when she joined former 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick in protesting inequality and injustice by kneeling during the playing of the national anthem at professional sports games. In 2019,…

Massive Christian Event Sells out in Minutes after Kanye West Announces He Will Be Performing

Massive Christian Event Sells out in Minutes after Kanye West Announces He Will Be Performing

For over 20 years, Awaken 2020 has ministered to thousands of people, but this year, it’s seeing unprecedented attendance numbers, largely in thanks to Kanye West, according to Faithwire.

When the controversial rapper turned outspoken Christian announced earlier this week that he and his Sunday Service choir would perform at the free Christian event, attendees flooded the website. Tickets for the show, which is held in the Sun Devil Stadium and holds 50,000 people, were sold out in minutes and eventually crashed the website.

Lou Engle, founder of Awaken, is encouraged by the momentum West is causing.

“We believe Kanye is a sign to this nation that in a moment, thousands and thousands can be swept into the kingdom when [God] converts key people and their voices will be like thunder,” he said. “Sun Devil Stadium has hosted the Super Bowl and college football championship games, and was even featured in the 1996 hit movie ‘Jerry Maguire,’ but what is about to happen there in terms of national, long-term significance may eclipse them all.”

In a press release, organizers also expressed their enthusiasm for this year’s event: “The gathering is a monumental movement launching a new decade of awakening America back to God at a critical time in our nation’s history,” they said. “[This] will be the spark to America’s 3rd great awakening.”

28 Percent of Republicans Deem Abortion an ‘Extremely Important’ Issue for 2020 Election, Gallup Poll Finds

28 Percent of Republicans Deem Abortion an ‘Extremely Important’ Issue for 2020 Election, Gallup Poll Finds

Abortion remains one of the most important issues among Americans heading into another election, with Republicans more likely to say it is “extremely important” for how they vote, according to a new Gallup poll.

The survey of 1,025 U.S. adults in December listed a series of issues and asked those polled to label each one as “extremely” important, “very” important, “somewhat” important or not important in their vote for president.

Abortion tied for eighth in Americans’ list of “extremely” important issues, trailing topics like health care, education, the economy and immigration but leading seven other issues, including taxes, the deficit and foreign affairs.

Republicans, though, are more likely to call abortion “extremely” important in how they vote for president. Twenty-eight percent of Republicans but 23 percent of Democrats called it “extremely” important, giving the GOP a 5 percentage point edge on the issue. Gallup data shows that most Republicans consider themselves pro-life and most Democrats call themselves pro-choice.

On nearly all other issue, though, Democrats had the edge. For example, 49 percent of Democrats but 22 percent of Republicans said health care was “extremely” important to their vote, giving Democrats a 27 percentage point lead. Democrats had similar edges on climate change (+36), distribution…

Woman en Route to Her Wedding, 10 Other Christians Killed in NIgeria

JOS, Nigeria, January 13, 2020 (Morning Star News) – Suspected Boko Haram terrorists killed a woman and her bridal party in northeast Nigeria five days before her planned New Year’s Eve wedding, and eight other Christians were killed in separate attacks, sources said.

Martha Bulus and her two bridesmaids were stopped on Dec. 26 as they made their way from Gwoza, Borno state to Martha Bulus’ hometown in Adamawa state for her wedding, were ordered from their vehicle, identified as Christians and then beheaded, church leaders said. Eight other Christians were killed in the same area on the same day, one church leader said.

Bulus and her two Christian friends were traveling on the Maiduguri-Yola highway when they were stopped near Gwoza and killed. Bulus was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Maiduguri, according to the Rev. Francis Arinse, director of communications for the Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri.Maiduguri.

“They were beheaded by Boko Haram insurgents at Gwoza on their way to her hometown,” Arinse told Morning Star News in a text message.

The Rev. Naga Williams Mohammed, chairman of the Borno State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), confirmed the killings in a text message to Morning Star News, adding that assailants also killed eight other Christians and kidnapped two Christian women at the same spot on the same day, but at different…

Baseball All-Star Invites Fans to Read Through Bible with Him, 13,000 Join

One of Major League Baseball’s best pitchers is reading through the Bible in a single year – and he’s inviting everyone to take the journey with him.

Adam Wainwright, a veteran pitcher with the St. Louis Cardinals, told his Twitter followers last week that he would begin reading selections each day from the Old and New Testaments and Psalms on Jan. 12 as part of an endeavor to read through God’s Word in one year.

He also set up a Twitter account dedicated to the effort and invited fans to read with him. Thus far, 13,500 have followed his new account Walking With Waino, where he posts updates about the daily readings.

“This is a cool opportunity for me to walk through God’s Word in community with you,” he wrote. “It’s my prayer that this would be a blessing and a daily encouragement to you all.”

Wainwright, 38, is a two-time World Series champion and three-time National League All-Star. He’s also led the league twice in wins.

His Bible study invitation began with a simple message posted on his primary Twitter account, which has 285,400…
