Topic: Celebrate Your Oneness With Him

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones (Ephesians 5:30).

1 Corinthians 6:17 says, “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” We’re joined to the Lord; we’re inseparably one with Him, and He’s not ashamed of our union with Him. Have you ever had a family member or a loved one, who, perhaps, due to some terrible behaviour or waywardness, you felt ashamed to be associated or identified with him or her?

Hebrews 2:11 says the Lord isn’t ashamed to call us “brethren”; that is, His brothers and sisters. Think about it: despite everything He knows about you, He still loves you and celebrates His oneness with you. He’s so united and identified with you that He’s given you His Name to live by. The Bible says He’s touched with the feeling of our infirmities (Hebrews 4:15).

Your oneness with the Lord is the greatest and most honourable thing you could ever imagine. Celebrate it. Seize every moment to glorify Jesus Christ in, and with your life. Nothing could be more transcendent than being an associate of the God-kind; one in whom Christ literally dwells. You’re God’s house; He lives in you, talks in, and through you. He isn’t complete without you.

This should help you understand your importance and relevance to Christ. You’re in Him, and He’s in you. Through you, He’s able to express His love and righteousness to others. You’re His extension in the earth, because you hail from Him and are connected to Him. He said in John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches…” ; the vine and the branches are of the same stalk. It’s the Father’s grand design for Him to need us just as we need Him: He’s our glory as we are His glory.

In John 17:19-21, Jesus prayed for us thus, “…as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us….” This prayer was fulfilled when the Holy Spirit came to live in us; we’ve become one with divinity. 1 Corinthians 12:13 says, “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body….” You’ve been literally mingled with the Spirit as one divine creation. Blessed be God!

CONFESSION
I’m joined to the Lord, and one spirit with Him; in Him I live, and move and have my being. God lives in me; He talks in and through me. His glory is all over me, and with His divine presence, I impact and influence my world for His glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Anthony Evans on the Inspiring Faith of His Father and What it Means to Be a ‘Kingdom Man’

Anthony Evans on the Inspiring Faith of His Father and What it Means to Be a ‘Kingdom Man’

It’s early on the west coast, and you can tell in Anthony Evans’ voice that he’s got something exciting to talk about. This becomes even more evident when you hear him mention his dad’s name—Dr. Tony Evans.

It is clear right away that Evans loves his father and wants to be part of everything his father touches, including filmmaking. So, when his father approached him about being a part of his new Kingdom Man film (which releases in theaters this week), he didn’t hesitate to say yes.

Although Evans loves working with his dad, he remains intentional about the true purpose of the film. Growing up in a great home and being protected in many ways didn’t lessen his awareness of the crisis in our country. He knows that there’s a battle for the hearts and souls of men. This is why he believes in the Kingdom Man project.

When asked what a Kingdom Man is, he answers eagerly, like a kid in grade school jumping to answer a familiar question: “A Kingdom Man is someone who loves God and includes men of all shapes and colors, anyone who is willing to submit his life to God.” Evans states that he’s seen his father exemplify that definition throughout the years.

Evans’ mom is facing the fight of her life right now with her latest cancer diagnosis but Evans shared that she is hanging in there saying, “My mom is beautiful and doing well.”…

Restoring Notre Dame cannot be rushed, experts warn

France’s government last week presented a bill aimed at speeding up the reconstruction that would allow workers to avoid some ordinary renovation procedures.

Mr Macron has set a goal of rebuilding the cathedral in just five years, which some experts consider simply impossible to achieve.

In a column in French newspaper Le Figaro, a group of 1,100 experts urged Mr Macron to “let historians and experts have the time for diagnosis before deciding on the future of the monument”.

They called for a well-considered, thoughtful and ethical approach and warned against a “political agenda” based on speed.

‘It’s Not Fair’: Male Weightlifter Blocked from Competing as Transgender Female

‘It’s Not Fair’: Male Weightlifter Blocked from Competing as Transgender Female

A biological male who identifies as a transgender female is fighting for the right to compete in competitive weightlifting but is facing stiff opposition from the sport’s largest governing body.

JayCee Cooper, 31, has lifted in several powerlifting competitions but was told by USA Powerlifting that male-to-female transgender people have a “direct competitive advantage.” Cooper was barred from USA Powerlifting’s female meets.

“In a world that wants to take away our power and strength,” Cooper told NBC, “powerlifting is a way to gain that strength back and feel powerful and feel ownership of our own lives. It helps us find strength within ourselves and helps us find strength within our bodies.”

Cooper hopes USA Powerlifting changes its position.

“I really do love this sport, and it’s not fair to genetically eliminate an entire group of people,” Cooper said.

USA Powerlifting is scheduled to discuss its rule on transgender athletes May 9. So far, though, the body says Cooper would have an unfair advantage.

“Male-to-female transgenders are not allowed to compete as females in our static strength sport as it is a direct competitive advantage,” USA Powerlifting’s Dr. Kristopher Hunt told Cooper in one email.

Hunt added in a follow-up email, “The fact that transgender male to female individuals having gone through…

Churches in DRC playing a vital role in preventing spread of Ebola

Tearfund’s programme director in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Hebdavi Muhindo, is Congolese said the Ebola outbreak is now a crisis sitaution, with infection rates increasing and people dying.

Ebola is a virus that destroys cells and acts quickly by attacking the immue system. Symptoms include fever, diarrhea and bleeding but it can be prevented and sometimes stopped.

The first case of this outbreak was found in August last year, but Hebdavi Muhindo said there are signs of hope.

He said: “The church is playing a very crucial role, a very important role, and Tearfund is working with a church in eastern DRC to sensitise the community.

“One of the main ways to stop this virus is by taking hygiene measures, washing your hands as well avoiding contact body contact, like changing some social norms, not greeting each other with the hand – just saying ‘hi’ with your voice. The church is doing a lot of psychosocial support to the people who are affected by the virus

“And while people have lost faith in other institutions… people still trust their faith leaders and that’s how the work that Tearfund is doing, together with the local church, is really helping to stop the spread of the disease.”

Mr Muhindo described how he recently met a woman who only knew that she had Ebola symptoms because she had heard the warnings at church:

“She’s a young lady who is only 17…

1 Dead, 3 Injured in Shooting at Chabad of Poway Synagogue in San Diego

1 Dead, 3 Injured in Shooting at Chabad of Poway Synagogue in San Diego

A 19-year-old walked into Chabad of Poway Synagogue near San Diego early Saturday afternoon and opened fire on peaceful worshippers during a Passover service.

According to ABC News, the 19-year-old California man took aim at the congregants using an assault-style rifle, killing one woman and injuring three others.

The assailant has been identified and was apprehended only moments after fleeing the scene.

According to ABC News, after shots rang out, 51-year old Oscar Stewart rushed after the gunman causing him to make a break for his vehicle. According to officials, as Stewart pursued the shooter, another member of the synagogue who is a U.S. Border Patrol agent ran out and yelled for Stewart to stand down. This allowed the Federal Agent to let off a few rounds at the shooter’s vehicle before the shooter fled the scene.

Moments later, a Canine officer heading to the scene spotted the vehicle and was able to arrest the gunman.

A funeral is being held on Monday for 60-year-old Lori Gilbert-Kaye who was the sole murder victim in the shooting. Gilbert-Kaye is being exalted as a hero as witnesses say she threw herself in front of a bullet to save long-time friend, Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein.

According to USA Today, Goldstein was working on evacuating children from the synagogue when Gilbert-Kaye was shot and killed.

Among the injured are Goldstein, an…

Christian charity questions Tory plan to force over-50s to pay £300 a year for social care

The idea is being proposed by Conservative MP Damian Green (pictured below) as part of a range of measures to fill a funding gap for older people.

Louise Morse from Pilgrims Friends Society told Premier that while some people may struggle to make the payments, she supported it.

“I think that, that would work ok because we know as Christians that we’re giving to the general good,” she said during Premier’s News Hour.

“For some people who are barely getting through, that would mean the difference between paying the rent or not.

“But for people who are managing, it would be ok.

“But I think it should be for everybody because everybody is going to become old unless they die young.”

Wikipedia

The former Cabinet minister has argued that the care system should adopt the model of the state pension, with everyone entitled to a basic “safety net” of support, but individuals are encouraged to top up this provision from their own savings or housing wealth.

Morse argued in the charity’s blog that pensioners are already contributing billions of pounds to the Exchequer.

Green, who was in charge of drawing up the Government’s long-awaited green paper on social care for England while he was in government, also set out a range of measures aimed at filling a £2.75 billion funding gap.

In his Fixing the Care Crisis paper, drawn up for the Centre for…

Tony Evans Shares Update on His Wife’s Cancer: “We Believe We Can Trust Him” Even in the “Most Difficult Storm”

Tony Evans Shares Update on His Wife’s Cancer: “We Believe We Can Trust Him” Even in the “Most Difficult Storm”

Dr. Tony Evans shared an update on his wife, Dr. Lois Evans, who recently discovered that her gall bladder cancer had returned, explaining that they are choosing to see this health crisis as an opportunity.

“Is there fear? Yes, sometimes. But every time the fear arises, we have the opportunity to choose faith. In our figurative and literal waiting room experience, we have been given the time and opportunity to exercise the muscle of our faith in a God who’s never failed us. We choose to take refuge in Him,” Evans shared in an Instagram post on Thursday.

Dr. Tony Evans is the senior pastor at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, as well as the founder and president of The Urban Alternative, a national organization dedicated to Christian teachings.

Although Lois is not currently in pain, the family is seeking a solution for a rare cancer that has no cure.

“Please continue to pray. We need your prayers. Lois’s illness is rare and has no known cure. But we wanted you to know that she is doing well and that we are looking up and expecting God to do a miracle,” Evans wrote.

Despite an uncertain prognosis, Evans and his wife see this as a chance to lean more into God. “We have the opportunity — and we do view this health crisis as an opportunity — to tune in to God at a new level,” he…

Church of England officials ‘turned blind eye’ to child abuse claims

Lincolnshire Police and Lincoln Diocese investigated 25 people over alleged abuse, from a list of 53 names which were passed to officers, with three cases leading to convictions.

The BBC’s Panorama said some of the names could have been referred years earlier as part of the Church of England’s national Past Cases Review, which examined tens of thousands of church records in 2008 and 2009 to discover whether abuse cases had slipped through the net.

Not all of the names on the list related to child abuse allegations.

Detective Superintendent Rick Hatton, who leads the ongoing investigation, named Operation Redstone, told a Panorama programme being broadcast on Monday: “We whittled it down to about 25 names whereby we either knew that they’d committed offences or there was some issue around risk to members of the public from them.

“There was the ongoing concern that actually those people were working with children. Potentially there was still a risk.

“Just because they are what we call non-recent cases, doesn’t make them any less serious.

“In fact it makes them more serious because they weren’t dealt with at the time, so there’s a risk from the offender ongoing.”

The programme will claim two former Lincoln Diocese bishops were made aware of abuse concerns at the time, but failed to act.

ln, was told in 1969 that Roy Griffiths, a deputy head teacher at Lincoln…

United Methodist Court Upholds Ban on LGBTQ Clergy, Same Sex Marriage

United Methodist Court Upholds Ban on LGBTQ Clergy, Same Sex Marriage

CHICAGO (RNS) — The United Methodist Church’s top court has upheld much of the Traditional Plan approved earlier this year, continuing the global denomination’s ban on the ordination and marriage of its LGBTQ members.

Approved by delegates to a special session of the United Methodist Church’s General Conference in February, the Traditional Plan strengthens language in the denomination’s Book of Discipline that bars LGBTQ clergy and forbids same-sex marriage.

That rulebook currently states that “the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching” and that “self-avowed practicing homosexuals” cannot be ordained as ministers, appointed to serve or be married in the church.

The Traditional Plan, as upheld by a Judicial Council decision announced Friday (April 26), defines a “self-avowed practicing homosexual” as a person who is “living in a same-sex marriage, domestic partnership or civil union or is a person who publicly states she or he is a practicing homosexual.”

The plan also bars bishops from consecrating, ordaining or commissioning “self-avowed practicing homosexuals” even if they have been elected or approved by the appropriate church body. It prohibits those church bodies from approving or recommending them as candidates, as well.

And it strengthens current complaint procedures and penalties in the Book of…
