London street preacher disputes police statement, claims he was driven five miles away after arrest

In the latest update from the team supporting Oluwole Ilesanmi, who ran into trouble and had his Bible confiscated while preaching outside Southgate underground station, further details have been released regarding what happened after his arrest.

Campaign group Christian Concern claim he was taken to nearby Wrotham Park and left, as previously reported, without any money to get home.

The group says with the help of a stranger, he was able to get on a bus and later that evening returned to the scene of his arrest to continue preaching.

The details of his treatment come after the Metropolitan Police told Premier that he had been walked 200 metres out of the area before being shown to a nearby bus stop.

Christian Concern has launched a petition calling for action from the government to protect street preachers.

In a letter addressed to the home secretary, it says: “Christian street preachers should be free to share the gospel, even where it means challenging the beliefs of others.

“Please urgently investigate what guidance and training is being given to police officers…

Teacher Apologizes after Demanding Fourth-Grader Remove Ash Wednesday Cross from Forehead

Teacher Apologizes after Demanding Fourth-Grader Remove Ash Wednesday Cross from Forehead

When an elementary school student in Utah walked into class on Wednesday, he was shocked when his teacher told him to wipe his Ash Wednesday cross off of his forehead.

According to Fox News, fourth-grader William McLeod – seemingly the only Catholic in his class – walked into class on Wednesday with a cross of ash upon his forehead. McLeod told the outlet that many of his classmates asked him what was on his forehead and he happily explained to them that it was to bring him “closer to God” on the first day of Lent.

When his teacher noticed the symbol, however, she decided to pull McLeod aside a demanded he remove the cross from his forehead.

McLeod told Fox News, “She took me aside, and she said, ‘You have to take it off.’ She gave me a disinfection wipe — whatever they are called — and she made me wipe it off.”

Later that day, the fourth grader’s grandmother, Karen Fisher, received a phone call from the school’s principal informing her of the incident. Fisher told Fox 13 that she was “pretty upset” about what had happened to her grandson. The teacher who demanded McLeod remove the cross also called the grandmother later that day to apologize.

Fisher told Fox 13 that during her conversation with the unnamed teach she “asked her if she read the Constitution with the First Amendment, and she said,…

ACLJ Investigating Virginia’s Extreme Abortion Law

ACLJ Investigating Virginia’s Extreme Abortion Law

The American Center for Law and Justice filed Freedom of Information Act demands with the state of Virginia, requesting all records regarding “The Repeal Act.” The act, numbered HB 2491, would remove almost all restrictions on abortion from Virginia Law.

When Virginia House of Delegates member Kelly Tran presented the bill, House majority leader Todd Gilbert pressed her on just how close to the moment of conception a woman could have an abortion. He asked if a woman could request an abortion when she was dilating. Tran responded, “Mr. Chairman, that would be a decision that the doctor, the physician, and the woman would make at that point.” Gilbert pressed further, saying, “I understand that. I’m asking if your bill allows that.” Tran answered, “My bill would allow that, yes.”

Pro-life groups expressed outrage at the bill and Tran’s frank admission about the bill’s implications. A few days later, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam appeared on WTOP radio and discussed the controversy. He said that “legislators, who are mostly men, shouldn’t be telling a woman what she should or shouldn’t be doing with her body.”

The hosts asked Northam what would happen in the event that a baby was born alive after a failed late-term abortion. He responded, “The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would…

Diocese ‘sorry’ for not acting on information about abusive priest

The Diocese of Chester also accepted it failed to act on information concerning now-retired clergyman Charles Gordon Dickenson which surfaced ten years ago.

On Monday, he pleaded guilty to eight counts of sexual assault against a child during the 1970s. He was the vicar of Christ Church Latchford near Warrington at the time.

Chester Crown Court heard how a boy was targeted on four occasions during the course of a several months at both the church hall and vicarage.

In a statement, church leaders said: “We offer an unreserved apology to the survivor.

“He has shown bravery and courage to share his experiences with the police and we acknowledge how difficult and distressing this must have been for him.”

Cheshire Police found a complaint lodged in 2009 against Dickenson was not acted upon by the Church of England.

A letter – sent as part of safeguarding protocol – acknowledged an accusation that Dickenson had indecently assaulted a young boy.

It also said that the then-Bishop of Chester, Rt Rev Victor Whitsey, made Dickenson “promise never to do it again”.

The diocese continued in its apology: “Information brought to light to the church in 2009, if acted upon then, may have led to the police bringing a prosecution against Gordon Dickenson much sooner.

“The Diocese apologises for not acting on this information in 2009.”

Dickenson was appointed a bishop’s chaplain. He…

Cathedral ‘should help conservative worshippers avoid women priest-led services’

The independent review followed a complaint from one worshipper after the West Yorkshire landmark stopped publishing in advance the names of those who would be presiding over Holy Communion.

Dennis Belk claimed he was being “marginalised” because he was forced to arrive at services without prior knowledge whether there would be a male or female celebrant.

Mr Belk, who described himself as a “traditional Catholic” felt the situation put him in a “compromising position” and argued he had to leave services on three occasions because a woman priest was presiding.

Conducted by Sir William Fittall, the review found cathedral bosses were unreasonable in their expectations of Mr Belk.

He said: “To expect someone whose theological conviction does not enable him to receive the sacramental ministry of women routinely to turn up to a celebration of Holy Communion when he cannot discover in advance whether he will be able to receive Holy Communion seems to me to be asking too much.”

Responding to a previous letter from Mr Belk, Dean of Wakefield Cathedral Very Rev Simon Cowling said: “Removing the names of those – male and female – who are to preside at a particular service helps to make the point that it is our offering of the Eucharist that is central, rather than the particular individual who is presiding.”

The Bishop of Wakefield, Rt Rev Tony Robinson (pictured below,…

Lorraine Jones was named the Daily Mail Inspirational Woman of the Year during a gala at the Marriott Hotel in Mayfair last night.

The 46-year-old founded ‘Dwaynamics’ on the Angell Town estate in Brixton – the estate where her son Dwayne, 20, was stabbed in the heart when he intervened in a fight.

She was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “Of course, I really would prefer that I am not here and have my son.

“But in life we face situations we can’t avoid and I have to think, ‘What would Dwayne want me to do because of this experience?’

“He would want me to shine through it. He would want me to use this to make a change for the better.”

Lorraine – along with four finalists – was also praised by the Duchess of Cornwall during a reception held at Clarence House.

Pastor’s son critically ill after ‘horrific attack’ outside London pub

Dominic Alexander was taken to hospital after being discovered with stab wounds outside at the Sporting Green pub on Hertford Road in the early hours of 26th February.

The 25-year-old’s father, Clement, was quoted by the Evening Standard as saying: “He is a young father who has two young kids and was trying to get on.

The leader of Rabah Ministries-Place of Increase added: “He needs to get better so he can play with them again.”

Three men, all aged in their twenties, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. They have been bailed until a date late this month.

Metropolitan Police

A 21-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice. She has been bailed until sometime in mid-April.

Officers believe Mr Alexander may have been attacked following a dispute near the pub but they are keeping an open mind about the motive.

Detective Chief Inspector John Massey said: “We would also appeal for anyone who saw anything take place shortly after half past midnight on Monday night into Tuesday morning at or near to Central Parade, or saw any arguments earlier in the evening inside the Sporting Green pub, to come forward as soon as possible.
