A spokesman told Premier: “The pastor was aware that the church would be leasing that property for one year. The lease expired last…
Topic: Hold Your Tongue [Joyce Meyer Devotional 9 February 2019]
Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. — Psalm 34:13
“You really have the gift of gab,” one man told me many years ago, when I first started in the ministry. He had pointed out something that I already knew: God had given me “a ready tongue.” That is, I speak easily. Words are my tools. The Lord first gave me that gift, and then He called me into the ministry to use that ability to work for Him.
I have no trouble talking. That’s my gift; that’s also been my greatest problem. Because I seem to always have something to say, I have struggled many, many years over the right use of my tongue. It has not been an easy battle.
Over the years, I heard various people saying things like, “Hold your tongue.” “Do you have to speak every word that comes to your mind?” “Do you always speak first and think later?” “Must you sound so harsh?”
Had I truly listened to what people were saying, I might have realized that God was trying to tell me something. But I ignored their comments and continued in my own stubborn ways. I know I have wounded people with my words in the past, and I am sorry for that. I’m also grateful that God has forgiven me.
Several years ago, I realized that if God was going to use my life, I had to gain control of my tongue—not to just stop talking, but to keep my tongue from evil, and my lips from speaking deceit, as the psalmist David says.
I had a choice. I could hurt people with my words—and I could do that well—or I could bring my lips into subjection to God. Obviously, I wanted to be subject to the Lord, but it was still a battle.
Our words are expressions of our hearts—of what’s going on inside us. If we want to know who a person really is, all we need to do is listen to their words. If we listen long enough, we learn a lot about them.
As I learned to listen to my own words, I also began to learn a lot about myself. Some of the things I learned did not please me, but they did help me realize that I had a character flaw that needed to be addressed. My words were not pleasing God, and I wanted them to. Once I confessed my failure to God, the victory came—not all at once and not perfectly, but God is patient with me. I’m growing, and part of my growth is keeping my lips from evil.
No matter how negative you are or have been, or how long you’ve been that way, God wants to change you. In the early days after my confession to God, I still failed more often than I succeeded, but every time I did succeed, I knew I was closer to God’s plan for my life. God can do the same for you.
It won’t be easy, but you can win. And the effort will be worth it.
Prayer Starter: Lord, help me use my mouth for right things. Put a watch over my mouth lest I sin against You with my tongue (see Psalm 141:3). Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You (see Psalm 19:14). I ask it in Jesus’ wonderful name. Amen.
Topic: Other Keys to Maintaining Divine Health [Seeds of Destiny 9 February 2019 Devotional]
SCRIPTURE: Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: What you fear is attracted to you unless you resist it.
There is no problem that exists without a solution as long as God is involved; there is no impossibility with God (Luke 1:37). Also, there is no incurable sickness or diseases before God. Men may tag a particular sickness ‘incurable’, but with God, all sicknesses are curable (Luke 1:37, Matthew 4:24). That is why we have been looking at God’s provisions for Divine Health.
Today, I would like to give you three more keys to living in Divine health:
The right confession
Words can kill and words can also heal. Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs18:21, Proverbs 12:18). So, the right confession is a key to living healthy. Even if you are facing challenges, maintain the right confession.
Serve God faithfully
When you serve God, He takes sicknesses from you (Exodus 23:25-26). To serve God is to be serviced by God (John 15:1-2).
Avoid fears and negative suggestions
You attract the negative things you fear (Job 3:25); as a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7).
Some time ago, I met a young girl whose mother died of cancer; her sister also died of cancer, and then she also got afflicted with cancer. Then the Holy Ghost showed me that the spirit of fear was one of the forces at work in her life. What you fear is attracted to you unless you resist it.
Beloved, fight your fears with God’s Word; do not allow just anyone tell you any bad dream they claim to have had about you.
Remember this: What you fear is attracted to you unless you resist it.
ASSIGNMENTS:
Make up your mind to maintain the right confession.
Serve God faithfully and resist all fears and evil suggestions.
PRAYER: O Lord, I receive Your Help to maintain the right confession always even in the midst of challenges. Give me the grace to serve You faithfully and resist all fears and negative suggestions, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Serving God with Your Family by Pastor David Ibiyeomie
Topic: Serving God with Your Family
Serving God with your family is the highest priority for every family that will succeed. Serving God with your family is not a waste of time; it is the most profitable venture on earth. It is not just joining a service group; it is to determine to function effectively with all your family members.
Joshua 24:15 (KJV) And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Each family member should make a choice to serve God with their endowments: talents, resources and strength. Life loses its meaning if you are not living to serve God. When families come to Church, they are being serviced by God; but when they get involved in service units, then they are serving God.
Genesis 18:19 (KJV) For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
Abraham was the head of his family; he demonstrated it by dedicated service to God; because of this, God trusted him that he will be able to command his family to serve Him. To be the head is to be able to direct your family to be committed to the service of God. The plan of God to bless the family is still far from being actualized in so many families; because focus has shifted from God centered project to personal project only. So many families have replaced God with their personal needs. Being relevant in Kingdom service is the only way you can retain God’s blessings upon your family.
Physical Service involves joining service units in your local church with your family members so you can serve with your skills, talents and gifts. Service is to be done committedly and effectively in honour of God. Acceptable service is serving God as commanded not as convenient.
Isaiah 1:19 (KJV) If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Spiritual service involves soul winning and praying for the Kingdom of God. The family as a team should be involved in soul winning. It is about reconciling the lost back to God.
Mark 16:15 (KJV) And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Financial Service is about serving God with your finance
Exodus 10:24-26 (KJV) And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you. And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God. Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.
Any service rendered without your money being involved is not a complete service. God must be served with your finance and resources in order to take delivery of the complete reward of service. This is the reason Moses insisted on the release of their resources. Every family member should use their talent, skill, strength and resources to serve; win souls and bring them to Church.
Children are natural mimics; no matter what you teach them, they learn better and faster by examples. Making your children to serve in the House of God is a crucial spiritual need. Parents want their children to be lawyers, doctors etc not minding God’s plan for their lives. Watch out for the children’s strength, talent, gifts and ensure they use it to serve God. If they can sing let them join the choir. Ensure by all means that they are involved in service. Parents are to teach the children how to serve God with their resources. It is important that they use their monetary gifts that are given to them to serve God. They should pay their tithe; give offerings, and other Kingdom obligations. Teach them to sow; do not bring your children to Church without packaging their offering. The children should never be allowed to use their offerings for snacks. Teach them to sow their way out into prosperity and not wait to acquire and inherit their parent’s wealth.
Ensure your children are involved in soul winning by going out with them. The reason some children are in cults is because they cannot preach to the people around; they end up being talked into cult groups. When the family is involved in soul winning, they become wise.
Proverbs 11:30 (KJV) The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
As you serve God with your family from now henceforth, I see God’s blessings and wisdom answer to your family in Jesus Name- Amen!

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 9 February 2019 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – The Glorious Garment Of Praise
TOPIC: The Glorious Garment Of Praise (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 9 February 2019)
Bible In One Year: Leviticus 6-7; Matthew 25:1-30
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Psalms 150:1-6
MEMORY VERSE: “And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?” – Matthew 21:16
Jesus came to set the captives free. Some of the captives in question are those who are in bondage and oppression of the spirit of heaviness, depression and discouragement. There are times in the lives of people, including believers, when they feel exhausted, depressed and discouraged. When this uncalled for season of life comes, what should you do? What do you do to the spirit of heaviness, discouragement and depression? The Bible provides a perfect answer: put on the garment of praise!
Isaiah 61:3 depicts that festive joy shall be part of the Messiah’s reign. The spirit of heaviness refers to discouragement. It is to be replaced by an abundant life (garment of praise). The message here is that worship-filled praise has the power to cast oppressive works of darkness.
What can bring spirit of heaviness, discouragement or oppression? Life is full of ups and downs. The enemy is in a rage and is unrelentingly attacking God’s children. What the devil did to Job is capable of bringing the spirit of heaviness upon anyone. Job said, “Even though he slay me, I will yet praise Him”. God sometimes allows our faith to be tested through adversities and life’s vicissitudes. When such unpleasant things happen, man gets discouraged and depressed. Elijah was discouraged and depressed shortly after his triumph over the prophets of Baal on mount Carmel because Jezebel threatened to kill him. He ran for his dear life to the wilderness and later hid himself in a cave until God intervened and told him to go to the mountain top. The spirit of heaviness can attack anyone, but we must learn how to handle it biblically. When you experience discouragement or depression, put on the garment of praise. One of the major hallmarks of Jesus’ ministry is to replace the spirit of heaviness in the lives of people with the glorious garment of praise. The devil wants to overwhelm believers with worries, discouragement and depression. He wants life to be hard and difficult for them. Hence, he fights believers with worrisome diseases and afflictions, unemployment, inability to pay bills like rent, school fees and so on as well as marital turbulence. When a believer is overwhelmed and overburdened by all these, he or she will not be able to praise God. God inhabits the praises of His people and, in praising God, the believer gets untold blessings from the Most High God. Don’t be ignorant of the devices of the devil. The enemy does not want you to praise God. His evil tactic, is to weigh you down with discouragement and depression so that you don’t praise Him. You are created to worship and praise Him. Don’t let the devil have his way. Tell the devil that no matter what he does to you, you will put on the garments of praise and praise the Lord highly and always. Like Job, tell the devil and all who care to listen that even though God slays you, you will yet praise Him.
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE: DISCOURAGEMENT AND DEPRESSION ARE ALIEN TO THOSE WHO WEAR THE GLORIOUS GARMENT OF PRAISE.
PROPHETIC WORD: The garment of discouragement is burnt to ashes by the fire of the Holy Ghost today.
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
O God, I thank You for Your name is above all names, in the name of Jesus.
O God, I thank You for Your mercies endure forever, in the name of Jesus.
O God, I thank You for You are the God above all other gods, in the name of Jesus. EVENING
Father, let the garment of praise replace the spirit of heaviness in my life, in the name of Jesus.
Father, let Your praise continually be in my mouth, in the name of Jesus.
O God, arise and let my joy be full, in the name of Jesus.
Anything designed and assigned by the enemy to make me discouraged and depressed, die, in the name of Jesus.

Topic: Discovering My True Self [Our Daily Bread 9 February 2019 Devotional]
Bible in a Year: Leviticus 6–7; Matthew 25:1–30
We know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. – 1 John 3:2
Today’s Scripture & Insight: 1 John 2:28–3:3
Who am I? That’s the question a faded stuffed animal asks himself in the children’s book Nothing by Mick Inkpen. Left in a dusty corner of an attic, the animal hears movers call him “nothing” and thinks that’s his name: Nothing.
Encounters with other animals spark memories. Nothing realizes that he used to have a tail, whiskers, and stripes. But it’s not until he meets a tabby cat who helps him find his way home that Nothing remembers who he truly is: a stuffed cat named Toby. His owner lovingly restores him, sewing on new ears, tail, whiskers, and stripes.
Whenever I read this book, I think about my own identity. Who am I? John, writing to believers, said that God has called us His children (1 John 3:1). We don’t fully understand that identity, but when we see Jesus, we will be like him (v. 2). Just like Toby the cat, we will one day be restored to the identity intended for us, which has been marred by sin. For now, we can understand that identity in part, and we can recognize the image of God in each other. But one day, when we see Jesus, we will be fully restored to the identity God intended for us. We will be made new.
Today’s Reflection Where do I find my identity? According to Scripture, how does God view me?
Topic: Behind Every Challenge [DCLM Daily Manna 9 February 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]
Text: John 9:1-7 (KJV)
Key Verse: “Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him” (John 9:3).
MESSAGE:
We should follow the example of our Lord Jesus Christ in His perception of intricate problems. While here in the world, He encountered difficulties that both His disciples and those outside expected Him to deal with. There was a wide gulf between the two on how they viewed such issues. Where others saw a crisis and despair, our Lord interrogated them with an opportunity to behold the glory of God. An understanding of these contrasting positions is key to building our faith.
When Jesus saw a man blind from his birth, His followers asked an intriguing question: “Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?” Their poser sprang from an erroneous Jewish tradition that physical infirmity was the consequence of the breach of God’s laws. Instead of going into arguments about Jewish customs, He educated them about the dynamics of the kingdom of God, pointing out that what the ordinary eyes saw as problems were opportunities for God to exhibit His glory. In other words, behind every apparent enigma, there is an opening for God to perform and attract praises to His name. Jesus moved on to prove His point by healing the blind man in a dynamic manner.
As believers, we should not fret or panic when difficulties arise in ministry or secular life. We must trust Him for the right solution that only heaven can provide. And we must obey without hesitation what He asks us to do as the blind man did and got his blessing.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Be prepared for God’s miracles when difficulties arise as you stand your ground.
