South Carolina Proposes Legislation that Requires Ultrasound, Bans Aborting Babies with Heartbeats
Last Week, South Carolina introduced a bill that would make aborting a baby with a fetal heartbeat illegal.
According to Lifesite News, the H. 3020 bill, which was introduced last Monday, requires all women seeking an abortion to have an ultrasound to see if a fetal heartbeat can be detected. If a heartbeat is found and the patient wishes to go through with the abortion without having a “physical medical threat,” the doctor who performs the procedure can be fined up to $10,000 and sentenced to two years in jail.
Founder and CEO of Coastline Women’s Health Center Jeannie Smith praised the proposed legislation in an interview with WMBF saying, “This would hopefully bring an end to abortion in the state of South Carolina.”
South Carolina Representative, Steven Long (R-SC) agreed with Smith saying, “We have a moral obligation to defend life.” He continued, “The court system is primed and ready for a good piece of pro-life legislation. Now is the time we need to be pushing and fighting to get legislation like this passed.”
Others, however, see the bill as an “attack” on women’s rights, LifeSite News reports.
The bill is currently pending before the Judiciary Committee.
MPs will be deciding whether or not they want to back the terms of the Prime Minister’s negotiated deal.
Alex Cunningham, a Christian and the Labour MP for Stockton North, explained on Premier’s News Hour why he feels forced to vote out of sync with many of his constituents.
“Well the people in my constituency – when they voted they liked the idea of the extra money for the NHS – the £350m a week. They had issues with immigration and freedom of movement…but above all, I think they were hoping that they would get something better out of the Brexit deal.
“That’s not going to happen…what’s on the table actually puts us in a worse position than we would have been if we just remained members of the EU.
“So I think at this stage we’ve got to reject it and the Labour party’s position and my own personal position is we should be getting a Labour government. So we should have a general election and failing that, we should put the matter back to the people.”

Transgender Dad Is Raising 5-Year-Old Transgender Child
The transgender father of a 5-year-old boy who wants to be a girl says he did not talk his child into becoming transgender, too.
The Daily Mail newspaper in London profiled a family Sunday that is receiving criticism and is being called “Britain’s first two-generation transgender family.” The 27-year-old transgender father, Greg, was born a girl and has had his breasts removed but has yet to have sex-reassignment surgery. His partner is 21-year-old Jody, the biological mother who considers herself heterosexual. They are not married, although they share the same last name.
They say their son started wearing dresses a year ago and wanted long hair and his nails painted. They now consider him a girl and call him Jayden. Jayden’s school treats him like a girl.
“She developed speech and immediately started saying, ‘I hate wearing boys’ clothes and everything about being a boy,’” Greg told the newspaper. “At first, we thought it was probably just a phase but it’s been consistent ever since. She is adamant she’s a girl.”
Jody said she “had a son one moment and a daughter the next.”

Swedish Government Denies Man’s Request to Put Jesus’ Name on License Plate, Says it Could ‘Cause Offense’
A Swedish man was denied the ability to put Jesus’ name on his license plate because officials said it could “cause offense.”
According to the Christian Post, Ceasar Kisangani Makombe wanted to put the Swedish word for Christ – Kristus – on his license plate, but the Swedish Transport Agency deemed it unacceptable.
According to The Local, both the Swedish words for Christ and Jesus are blocked from being placed on license plates because they contain religious matter and could “cause offense” to those who are not Christians.
Press officer for the Swedish Transport Agency Mikael Andersson told the outlet, “We deny any words that we believe can cause offense. Among other things, we say no to everything that has any religious connotations no matter which connotations.”
The Christian Post reports that so far, nearly 100 license plates have been denied by the department, a fact that Makombe finds puzzling. The Swedish man told the Göteborg Direkt – a regional newspaper – that since Sweden is a Christian country he was confused by the agency’s decision.
Makombe also asked fellow Christians to pray for his country and its officials. He said, “As a Christian, you should not make war on those who make decisions in this country, instead we must pray for them.”
Announcing her death on Twitter, Glenn Burris – president of Foursquare Church described her as “an extraordinary person”.

As well as her home country, she served in Panama, Canada, Australia and the UK.
While serving in England she says she was given a picture by God which showed revival was coming to the country.
She described the image as like “fires breaking out all over the nation”.
Along with husband Elmer, she launched Foursquare Church in the UK along with a bible college.
She leaves behind children John and La Donna. Elmer died in 2004.
Paying tribute on Twitter, Pastor Stuart Bell from Alive Church in Lincoln said: “Heard that Jean Darnall who years ago was a spiritual mother to me peacefully went to be with the Lord today.
“She supported me in the early days of my ministry and I have walked into things she spoke over me. #grateful.”

The Church of England issued advice in December for parishes who wish to mark someone’s gender change, advising that their new name should be used in a service where someone might affirm their baptismal faith, saying it would be a natural setting to recognise the person’s gender through liturgy and a baptism certificate.
The guidance was approved by the House of Bishops, following a motion passed in General Synod 2017 that read: “This Synod, recognising the need for transgender people to be welcomed and affirmed in their parish church, call on the House of Bishops to consider whether some nationally commended liturgical materials might be prepared to mark a person’s gender transition.”
In a press release on this advice, the Bishop of Blackburn, Julian Henderson, Chair of the House of Bishops Delegation Committee, which oversaw work to produce the guidance said: “We are absolutely clear that everyone is made in the image of God and that all should find a welcome in their parish Church.”
However, a recent response to this guidance from the Church of England Evangelical Council, also signed by the bishop, stated that the advice was ambiguous and could cause problems for clergy who refuse to do such a service.

To be dedicated means to be unreservedly committed. It is deadness to self. Dedication means to be sold out to a cause in life. It is at the point of your dedication that God will meet and promote you. When you are dedicated to an assignment, you are on a highway to distinction.
Only pride makes people not to work because they consider a certain kind of job to be demeaning. Stop begging about, go and work because there is nothing noble about begging; it is not dignifying. If you are a barber, be sold out. Sit down in your shop and be dedicated to the job and you will soon make a mark. Dominion is a function of dedication. When you are dedicated, all your senses come alive.
Do you want dominion? Do you want to make news? Be sold out to that assignment in your hand. If you are not succeeding at your job, you are not serious. You do not do a job because you are being monitored by someone; you do it because you are sold out to that cause. If you need to be supervised to produce result, then you are not sold out to that thing. Only dedicated people excel in their pursuit. The best of ideas keep flowing to you when you are dedication.
Dedication is an attitude that must be in place before success can be in view. Do not say, “If I had a big shop, I will do better”. That is not true! If you are not dedicated to selling little things spread out on a table, even if they put five million Naira in your hand, you will still make nothing out of it. Why? You are not dedicated. Sit down at your trade with dignity. Go there every morning with a smile on your face and give it all it takes; then watch and see if it will not produce for you. No one ever gets to make any meaning in life going about town. Only a jobless man goes about on Monday morning, visiting people on their jobs to chat or talk about trivial things.
Dedication is the choice of the wise, so be dedicated. If you want to exercise dominion in life, as a Christian, do something, and be dedicated to it. Be sold out to it. Titles do not make people; dedication does. The world celebrates impact not title. No matter what title you hold right now, if you do not have impact, once you die, you are quickly forgotten.
There is no substitute for dedication. It is a winning attitude. It motivates you for excellence. You cannot be dedicated without being creative; you cannot be productive and not be successful. Many want to get rich without working for it. Any Wealth you get without working for it will soon diminish.

Dr John Shepherd’s appointment last week as interim director of the Anglican Centre in Rome.
But his suitability for the role has been questioned after video footage emerged of him appearing to question the traditional Christian understanding of Christ being raised from the death.
During a sermon delivered in Easter 2008, he said: “The resurrection of Jesus ought not to be seen in physical terms, but as a new spiritual reality.

A kick that defied all odds
Cody Parkey is a kicker for the Chicago Bears. He set an NFL rookie scoring record in 2014 and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2015. Earlier this season, he was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Vikings.
In the first round of this year’s playoffs, his Chicago Bears played last year’s Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. At the end of the game, the Bears were poised to win as Parkey lined up a forty-three-yard field goal. He had already kicked three field goals in the game. His fourth was right down the middle, but the Eagles had called time out just before the play began.
When the game resumed, Parkey’s kick struck the left upright of the goalpost. Then, defying all odds, it struck the crossbar. Then it fell backwards to the ground. The Bears lost.
The team and their fans were devastated. Only later did they learn that an Eagles player got a hand on the ball, deflecting the kick.
But by that time, the narrative was set: Parkey had failed.
