Topic: God Still Performs Miracles [Andrew Wommack Devotional 31 December 2018]

Mark 16:20 “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.“

The Lord confirmed the preaching of His Word with miracles. If Jesus and the first century Christians needed the Word confirmed with the miraculous (Heb. 2:4), then we do too. There is no scripture that says these miraculous signs have passed away.

Some people have interpreted “that which is perfect” in 1 Corinthians 13:10, as being the complete Bible. This has led them to believe that the gifts of the Spirit have ceased. Although God’s Word is perfect (Ps. 19:7), it is not the “perfect thing” that is referred to here. 1 Corinthians 13:8 does say that tongues shall cease, but it will not happen until “that which is perfect is come.”

In 1 Corinthians 13:12, Paul says, “when that which is perfect is come, we shall see face to face.” This speaks of seeing the Lord face to face, instead of vaguely, as through a dark glass, as it is now. Some might argue that this is speaking in a symbolic sense, instead of literally face to face. But the next comparison in this verse says that then, “when that which is perfect is come,” we shall know all things even as we are also known. There is no other way to interpret this, except as a description of when we will stand before the Lord, after this life. Then we will be face to face, and know all things even as also we are known.

Verse eight says that at the time prophecies fail and tongues cease, knowledge will vanish away. This is talking about the next life, or the new heavens and earth, because one of the signs of the end times is that knowledge shall increase (Dan. 12:4).

So the “that which is perfect” that Paul speaks of, cannot be the Bible. It has to be either our glorified body, or Jesus at His second coming. Either way, these verses establish that until “that which is perfect is come,” tongues and prophecy will remain. They are still valid gifts, and even today, it is God’s will to accompany the preaching of His Word with miracles.

Never question God’s great love, for it is as unchangeable a part of God as is His holiness. Were it not for the love of God, none of us would ever have a chance in the future life. But God is love! And His love for us is everlasting.

The promises of God’s love and forgiveness are as real, as sure, as positive, as human words can make them. But, like describing the ocean, its total beauty cannot be understood until it is actually seen. It is the same with God’s love. Until you actually possess true peace with God, no one can describe its wonders to you.

Prayer for the day: Yes, almighty God, I have felt the consolation of Your love!

Topic: Don’t Allow Fear A Place in Your Life [TREM Devotional 31 December 2018]

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)

Fear is one major tool of the devil to hold you captive; he knows that if he can keep you in fear, he literally paralyses you. But I declare you free from the bondage of fear today in the name of Jesus.

How does fear come? Fear like faith comes from what you hear. What are you listening to? Fear comes by hearing the words of the devil. The world has no good news for you. Yes, listen to the news on TV, radio and internet; be very aware of the happenings in your environment, but you must not allow it get into you. You must be ready to sift the fact from the truth. Whatever does not align with the Word of God concerning you should be discarded; otherwise, if you dwell on it, you have opened the door for the devil.

So, how do I overcome fear? Stay in tune with the Word of the Lord. Have a word from God to counter every suggestion of the devil. When the devil tells you about hereditary diseases and reminds you of how your parents and sibling died of a particular disease and begins to suggest that you have the same thing. Stop and read to yourself the scripture that says, “By the stripes of Jesus you have been made whole”. Meditate on it, say it over and over to yourself and declare that your case is different. Remind the devil that you are now in Christ and your DNA is now from Jesus and since no disease was found in Jesus, none can be found in you because you are now in Christ and you are a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17).

Job said what I feared has come upon me. Refuse that thought to take a foothold otherwise it will become a stronghold and before you know it, you are a captive of fear. I declare you free today by the Word of God in Jesus’ name. 2019 is your year of remarkable testimonies in Jesus’ name.

Topic: Breaking Bondages [Seeds of Destiny 31 December 2018 Devotional]

Scripture: …in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. – Psalm 16:11

Thought For The Day: The Presence of God carries the light of God and the light terminates the darkness of life.

God does not derive any pleasure from the captivity and bondage of His children. It is not God’s will for His children to be under the bondage of the devil. We were created to experience the freedom of God (John 8:32, 36).
Now, it has been confirmed that the major secret of breaking the bondages of life is the Presence of God. Chains and captivities have no capacity to survive the Presence of God, be it the reproach of sin, failure or frustration etc.

The Presence of God is a liberating Presence (2 Corinthians 3:17). The Presence of God carries the Light of God and that Light terminates the darkness of life.

Now, how can you connect God’s presence to break the bondages of life?

1. Avoid the life of disobedience
   Disobedience to God invites bondage. The life of iniquity is the anchor for bondage. People suffer from untold hardship because they do things against God’s instruction.
2. Live in God’s Divine Presence
   The Presence of God is a liberating presence. Whenever we are too busy for God, we are in a hurry to be bound by the devil. We must invest in the spirit rather than the flesh because the flesh is prone to destruction.
3. Avoid the life of cover-up
   Do not hide your challenges and weaknesses from God.

Beloved, I decree that every spirit of disobedience, cover-up, doubt and unbelief is terminated from your life. Receive a fresh passion for His Presence, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember This: The Presence of God carries the Light of God and that Light terminates the darkness of life.

Assignments:

1. Live in obedience to God’s Word.
2. Invest in the Spirit by feeding your spirit with God’s Word always.

Prayer: O Lord, I thank You for Your Word to me today. I ask that You take away from my heart every ungodly desire and put in me the desire that is godly, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Malachi 3:1

“I have a message for you!” A woman working at the conference I was attending handed me a piece of paper, and I wondered if I should be nervous or excited. But when I read, “You have a nephew!” I knew I could rejoice.

Messages can bring good news, bad news, or words that challenge. In the Old Testament, God used His prophets to communicate messages of hope or judgment. But when we look closely, we see that even His words of judgment were intended to lead to repentance, healing, and restoration.

Both types of messages appear in Malachi 3 when the Lord promised to send a messenger who would prepare the way for Him. John the Baptist announced the coming of the true Messenger, Jesus (see Matthew 3:11)—“the messenger of the covenant” (Malachi 3:1) who will fulfill God’s promises. But He will act “like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap” (v. 2), for He will purify those who believe in His word. The Lord sent His word to cleanse His people because of His loving concern for their well-being.

God’s message is one of love, hope, and freedom. He sent His Son to be a messenger who speaks our language—sometimes with messages of correction, but always those of hope. We can trust His message.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, help me not only to understand Your message but to live it.

Ask the Lord to help you share His good news with others in the new year.

INSIGHT
Malachi, the last book of the Old Testament, was written by a man whose name means “my messenger.” Malachi, believed to be a contemporary of Ezra and Nehemiah, ministered to the Jews who had returned from the Babylonian exile. Although the temple had been rebuilt (Ezra 6:14–15), the temple service and sacrifices were defiled for several reasons: lack of reverence for God, offering of blemished sacrifices (Malachi 1:6–9, 12–14), and willful neglect of the tithe (3:8–9). Worse, the priests were defiled by mixed marriages and marital unfaithfulness (2:1–16). Because the priesthood—which served as “the messenger of the Lord”—failed in their priestly function (2:7–9), Malachi speaks of a future “messenger” who would prepare the way for “the messenger of the covenant” (3:1). Four hundred years later, Jesus identified John the Baptist as that messenger (Matthew 11:9–10; 17:12–13).
