Key Verse: “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert“ (Isaiah 43:18,19).

MESSAGE:

The axiom that whoever sits down to recount his past failures and disappointments increases his sorrows holds true. Life is not about the number of times we reflect on the past; it is being able to identify our past misdeeds and make amends, to secure a glorious future.

Our text deals with God’s unfathomable love and mercy towards Israel. At this time, they had sinned against God through idolatry, disobedience and several other abominations. They disobeyed His commandments and went into spiritual harlotry. In fact, they disregarded God’s warnings through His prophets, who revealed the danger that awaited them as a rebellious stiff-necked people.

The Israelites, however, had allowed their present circumstance to blur their vision. And they were quick to forget the past victories God had given them. Even then, God’s mercy remains inexhaustible. Anytime they repented and returned to Him, He assured them that He would do something new in their lives that would never be compared to the wondrous things He had done in the past. But they were not to dwell on the past because they were to experience a new time of forgiveness, blessing, restoration and God’s abiding presence.

Believers who have gone away from the Lord are called upon to return to Him. People who have not experienced the saving grace and power of Christ are expected to repent and accept Him as their personal Lord and Saviour. Together, we are to be witnesses of the grace of God and the great provision He has made for the reconciliation of the lost world. This we will effectively do if we take our minds away from our past failings and disappointments.

MEMORY VERSE: “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;” – Deuteronomy 7:9

The MESSAGE:

God, the creator of the heaven and the earth, has many characteristics. Apart from His holiness, faithfulness is another important feature of God. God is faithful and this has been proven many times in Scriptures and throughout all ages. Faithfulness is to remain steadfast, resolute and to exhibit unswerving commitment to a person or promise. It is an attribute of God which implies His unchanging nature, love and firmness in His relationship with His people. In the Bible, God is shown as faithful and His word is true (Hebrews 6:18). Since God cannot lie or break His covenant of unconditional love to you and your family, it is certain that you and your family will see the New Year, in Jesus’ name. You can be rest assured that God will keep and preserve you and your family in the coming year and beyond, in Jesus’ name.

Despite the challenges and difficulties, every believer can be confident in the solemn promise of God that He will never leave or forsake you. Even in the world today, there are testimonies of God’s faithfulness. The mere fact that you are alive today to see the last day in 2018 is a clear demonstration that God is not yet done with you and your family.

God’s faithfulness can be seen in many areas. His faithfulness is guaranteed and is evident in His relationship with His people (Genesis 6:17-18; Exodus 19:5). Another area where God’s faithfulness is demonstrated is in His everlasting love as seen in the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary for your salvation. God is also faithful to forgive your sins once you repent and forsake them (1 John 1:9). He is faithful to answer you as you seek Him truly and in faith. He is faithful to help you to face any trial and temptation (1 Corinthians10:13) and make you victorious. He is faithful to strengthen and protect you from the wiles and attack of the devil. God is faithful to provide and meet you at the point of your needs. He is faithful to keep in peace those whose heart is stayed on Him. There is no other god or person that can do all that God has done and can do for you in the New Year and beyond. This is because the steadfast love (faithfulness) of God never ceases and His mercies are new every day. Great is His faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23).

As the year comes to an end, you can look back at all that God has done and conclude that God has indeed been faithful to you and your family. He has kept you and your loved ones, saving you as you put your trust in Him. It does not mean that challenges will not come your way but God is always faithful to see you through by allowing all things to work together for your good (Romans 8:28). Nothing in this world can have everlasting power over you because Jesus Christ promised complete victory for you and your family over life’s issues and problems (John 16:33; 1 Corinthians 15:55-57).

Praise God. Praise Him in the morning. Praise Him at noon. Praise Him at night. If you’ve never praised God in your life, then get started right now. Praise Him for freedom. Praise Him for healing and Calvary. Praise Him for the Name of Jesus.

You ought to be shouting your way to work and shouting your way back home! If there’s anything the devil can’t stand, it’s praise.

If you’ve taken territory from the devil and he’s coming against you to get it back, this is not the time to sit down and whine about how things aren’t working out. It’s not time to decide that God has taken His hand off your life.

It is time to get into the Word and get yourself re-anchored in God’s promises. It is time to keep those promises constantly before your eyes and in your heart. It is time to pray the prayer of faith and take your stand on the basis of His provision. It is time to continue to do the things you know to do.

When Satan starts shaking your mountain, don’t retreat and run for cover. Speak to the mountain with the authority you wield in the Name of Jesus Christ. Then, when you’re done with that, start to praise and shout the victory.

You don’t have to be afraid of Satan. He’ll be afraid of you!

Topic: God Still Performs Miracles [Andrew Wommack Devotional 31 December 2018]

Mark 16:20 “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.“

The Lord confirmed the preaching of His Word with miracles. If Jesus and the first century Christians needed the Word confirmed with the miraculous (Heb. 2:4), then we do too. There is no scripture that says these miraculous signs have passed away.

Some people have interpreted “that which is perfect” in 1 Corinthians 13:10, as being the complete Bible. This has led them to believe that the gifts of the Spirit have ceased. Although God’s Word is perfect (Ps. 19:7), it is not the “perfect thing” that is referred to here. 1 Corinthians 13:8 does say that tongues shall cease, but it will not happen until “that which is perfect is come.”

In 1 Corinthians 13:12, Paul says, “when that which is perfect is come, we shall see face to face.” This speaks of seeing the Lord face to face, instead of vaguely, as through a dark glass, as it is now. Some might argue that this is speaking in a symbolic sense, instead of literally face to face. But the next comparison in this verse says that then, “when that which is perfect is come,” we shall know all things even as we are also known. There is no other way to interpret this, except as a description of when we will stand before the Lord, after this life. Then we will be face to face, and know all things even as also we are known.

Verse eight says that at the time prophecies fail and tongues cease, knowledge will vanish away. This is talking about the next life, or the new heavens and earth, because one of the signs of the end times is that knowledge shall increase (Dan. 12:4).

So the “that which is perfect” that Paul speaks of, cannot be the Bible. It has to be either our glorified body, or Jesus at His second coming. Either way, these verses establish that until “that which is perfect is come,” tongues and prophecy will remain. They are still valid gifts, and even today, it is God’s will to accompany the preaching of His Word with miracles.

The promises of God’s love and forgiveness are as real, as sure, as positive, as human words can make them. But, like describing the ocean, its total beauty cannot be understood until it is actually seen. It is the same with God’s love. Until you actually possess true peace with God, no one can describe its wonders to you.

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)

Fear is one major tool of the devil to hold you captive; he knows that if he can keep you in fear, he literally paralyses you. But I declare you free from the bondage of fear today in the name of Jesus.

How does fear come? Fear like faith comes from what you hear. What are you listening to? Fear comes by hearing the words of the devil. The world has no good news for you. Yes, listen to the news on TV, radio and internet; be very aware of the happenings in your environment, but you must not allow it get into you. You must be ready to sift the fact from the truth. Whatever does not align with the Word of God concerning you should be discarded; otherwise, if you dwell on it, you have opened the door for the devil.

So, how do I overcome fear? Stay in tune with the Word of the Lord. Have a word from God to counter every suggestion of the devil. When the devil tells you about hereditary diseases and reminds you of how your parents and sibling died of a particular disease and begins to suggest that you have the same thing. Stop and read to yourself the scripture that says, “By the stripes of Jesus you have been made whole”. Meditate on it, say it over and over to yourself and declare that your case is different. Remind the devil that you are now in Christ and your DNA is now from Jesus and since no disease was found in Jesus, none can be found in you because you are now in Christ and you are a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17).

Job said what I feared has come upon me. Refuse that thought to take a foothold otherwise it will become a stronghold and before you know it, you are a captive of fear. I declare you free today by the Word of God in Jesus’ name. 2019 is your year of remarkable testimonies in Jesus’ name.

Thought For The Day: The Presence of God carries the light of God and the light terminates the darkness of life.

God does not derive any pleasure from the captivity and bondage of His children. It is not God’s will for His children to be under the bondage of the devil. We were created to experience the freedom of God (John 8:32, 36).
Now, it has been confirmed that the major secret of breaking the bondages of life is the Presence of God. Chains and captivities have no capacity to survive the Presence of God, be it the reproach of sin, failure or frustration etc.

The Presence of God is a liberating Presence (2 Corinthians 3:17). The Presence of God carries the Light of God and that Light terminates the darkness of life.

Now, how can you connect God’s presence to break the bondages of life?

1. Avoid the life of disobedience
   Disobedience to God invites bondage. The life of iniquity is the anchor for bondage. People suffer from untold hardship because they do things against God’s instruction.
2. Live in God’s Divine Presence
   The Presence of God is a liberating presence. Whenever we are too busy for God, we are in a hurry to be bound by the devil. We must invest in the spirit rather than the flesh because the flesh is prone to destruction.
3. Avoid the life of cover-up
   Do not hide your challenges and weaknesses from God.

Beloved, I decree that every spirit of disobedience, cover-up, doubt and unbelief is terminated from your life. Receive a fresh passion for His Presence, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember This: The Presence of God carries the Light of God and that Light terminates the darkness of life.

Assignments:

1. Live in obedience to God’s Word.
2. Invest in the Spirit by feeding your spirit with God’s Word always.
