Thought For The Day: Those who walk in God’s covenant enjoy His covering.

A covenant walk with God is a relationship of very high commitment. A covenant walk with God is characterised by effortless and sacrificial living. A person in covenant walk with God is highly committed – his sacrifice of time, energy, resources are effortless.

Those who walk in God’s covenant enjoy His covering. A person with a high level of commitment to God is a candidate for substantial Divine covering and preservation.

There are Scriptural examples of people who walked with God in covenant and enjoyed God’s covering, protection and preservation:

1. Noah walked in the covenant by sacrifice and God took the curse off the ground. God also placed on Noah, ‘The terror of the Lord.’ That is, what others feared began to fear Noah (Genesis 8:20, 9:1-2). Nothing covers a person like the covenant.
2. Abraham was a man of altars and sacrifices (Genesis 2:1, 12:7-8). Abraham sacrificed his comfort, relationships and almost sacrificed his son because of his covenant walk with God. When Pharaoh took Abrahams wife, God plagued Pharaoh’s house with a great plague because of Abraham’s wife. No man can dare a man that is covered by covenant without facing the consequence.

Today, I prophesy to you that as you walk in the covenant, no evil shall befall you. No man or woman can dare you in Jesus’ Name.

Remember This: Those who walk in God’s covenant enjoy His covering.

1. Be active in your covenant walk with God.
2. Let the sacrifice of your time, resources, talent etc. be your lifestyle.

Prayer: O Lord, I am totally committed to serve You. I ask that as I walk with You, You will surround my life with Your terror as a shield, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

MESSAGE:

Life is filled with good pleasures, but not all good things are godly things. The difference between a good and godly thing is their end results. For example going on a date with a boy or a girl may seem enjoyable, but what will be the end result? Whereas, sitting at home to read your books may seem unpleasant, but the end result is success. Not all that glitters is gold. Check everything that looks good with the Word of God because only those that are godly will end in good results, while the ungodly ones will regret. Galatians 6:7 says “God is not mocked: whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

Check the advice that your friends are giving you, check the thoughts that are coming to your mind. Weigh them with God’s Word to determine whether they are good or Godly. Whatever you do today is a seed, and you will surely reap the harvest sometime soon.

Key Point: Let your watchword be: Good is bad and God is best.

Topic: Remember Noah [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 29 December 2018]

And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. – Genesis 6:7-8

One of the dirtiest, most damaging lies that the devil ever told you was when he said, “You aren’t important.” Don’t you ever believe that.

You are important! Every born-again member in the Church of Jesus Christ has a part to play in God’s plan. God has something for you to do that no one else can do just like you can. If you don’t take your place and do your part, things won’t be quite right.

I can just hear you thinking, Oh, Gloria, I’m just one person. What could I possibly do that could be so significant?

Look in Genesis 6, and you’ll see the answer to that question. There you’ll see that the people on the earth had gotten so wicked that God had regretted that He’d made them. He was ready to wipe the whole population out—but He didn’t. Why? Because of one man: Noah! One obedient man saved the human race.

Think about that. What if Noah had said, “Well, this is just too much pressure for me. I can’t live upright before God in the middle of this ungodly generation. I mean, everyone around me is living the other way. Every man around me imagines only evil in his heart. I can’t make any difference in this dark world anyway. I’m just one man.”

Praise God, Noah didn’t say that. He didn’t picture himself as an insignificant man whose life didn’t matter. According to Hebrews, he saw himself as a man to whom God had spoken and by faith he obeyed God. And because of that he ended up being the only thing that stood between mankind and total destruction.

Next time you’re tempted to shrug off the instructions of God and be disobedient, next time you catch yourself thinking, It doesn’t matter what I do—remember Noah. Consider the fact that, whether you understand it or not, God is counting on you to carry out your part of His plan. Live like you’re someone important in the kingdom of God. And sooner or later you’ll realize, you are.

Topic: Water Baptism Is An Act Of Faith [Andrew Wommack Devotional 29 December 2018]

Mark 16:16 “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.“

This scripture has led many to believe that water baptism is a part of salvation and that the born-again experience cannot be a reality without it.

This same kind of thinking would make seeing Jesus a prerequisite for salvation, based on John 6:40.

It is faith in the redemptive work of Christ that produces salvation – not our actions. However, James writes that faith without works is dead (Jas. 2:20).

Faith alone saves, but saving faith is never alone; it must be acted upon.

This is what Mark is referring to when he speaks of baptism.

Water baptism is a command of Jesus and is the initial action taken upon believing. Mark’s statement could be rendered, “He who believes with saving faith (i.e. faith that produces actions) will be saved.” In this sense, water baptism is very important. It is an opportunity to act on your new profession of faith. Anyone who refuses to follow Jesus’ command to receive water baptism, may be suspected of not really believing.

Water baptism is a command, but keeping this command does not produce justification. Jesus administered forgiveness of sins without any mention of water baptism.

Philip told the Ethiopian eunuch, who asked Philip to baptize him, that if he believed with all of his heart, he could be baptized (Acts 8:37). Philip used water baptism only after an individual believed. This is also how Mark used water baptism.

Topic: We Cannot Out-Give God [Billy Graham Devotional 29 December 2018]

A tenth of the produce of the land . . . is the Lord’s. — Leviticus 27:30 (TLB)

We are to be stewards of our money. When it is invested and shared for the glory of God, it can be a boon and a blessing. I know a businessman in Detroit, Michigan, who made a promise to God that he would tithe his entire income to the work of the Lord. He said his business had tripled, and that God had more than fulfilled His end of the bargain.

Some time ago I heard from a laborer in the San Joaquin Valley of California who said that he and his wife agreed to give one tenth of their income to the Lord. At the time they made their decision, he was able to get work only about seven months of the year. Now he says he has steady work, and is earning nearly twice what he was before. You cannot get around it; the Scripture promises material and spiritual benefits to the man who gives to God.

You cannot out-give God. I challenge you to try it and see.

Prayer for the day: Forgive me, Lord, for the times I have wanted to keep that which is rightfully Yours.
