The Way to Spiritual Power by Pastor Paul Enenche

IMPARTATION SERVICE – 18TH NOVEMBER 2018
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): GENESIS 32:24-28
MESSAGE TOPIC: THE WAY TO SPIRITUAL POWER
BY: DR. PAUL ENENCHE

SERVICE OBJECTIVE: Understanding the way to spiritual power

THINGS TO NOTE:
1. The power of God is a most vital necessity for the child of God
2. The power of God is desired by many but never experienced by many
3. Salvation is free but spiritual power attracts some demands

THE DEMANDS OF THE POWER OF GOD:
1. Total consecration (Gen. 32:24-28; Acts 2:1; 1 Kings 17:1; Ps. 24:3-5; Isa. 59:1-2; 2 Cor. 6:14-18)
i. ‘And Jacob was left alone…’ was the beginning of Jacob’s journey into power (Gen. 32:24-28)
ii. The Apostles were separated from all else but God, then power fell (Acts 2:1-5)
1a. Total Consecration means separation from every habit or lifestyle that keeps us out of God’s Presence (1Kings 17:1; Ps. 24:3-5; Isa. 59:1-2)
1b. Total Consecration means separation from every association or relationship that keeps us away from God (2Cor. 6:14-18)

2. Desperate desire (Gen. 32:24-28; Acts 2:1-5; Ps. 63:1-2; Hos. 6:3; Phil. 3:10)
i. Jacob through desperate desire secured power with God (Gen. 32:24-28)
ii. Through desperate desire the apostles in the upper room tarried with God until they were endued with power (Acts 2:1-5)
2a. Desperate desire is desire for God and His Presence (Ps. 63:1-2; Hos. 6:3; Phil. 3:10)
Anything you do more than what you do for God becomes a god in your life
2b. Desperate desire is desire and passion for the fullness of God’s Power; it is the rejection of the status quo (Phil. 3:10; Ps. 63:1-2)

3. Intense supplication (Gen. 32:24-28; Acts 4:31, 33; Matt. 6:9-10; Isa. 62:1-2, 6-7; Ps. 63:1-2; Phil. 3:10)
i. Jacob, at the point of intense wrestling in prayer, passed from pressure to power
ii. The apostles, experienced unusual power that materialised into explosive signs and wonders at the place of prayer (Acts 4:31, 33)
3a. Intense supplication involves praying and supplicating wholeheartedly for the establishment of
God’s authority in the earth (Matt. 6:9-10; Isa. 62:1-2, 6-7)
3b. Intense supplication involves praying and demanding for personal spiritual power (Ps. 63:1-2; Phil. 3:10)

4. Absolute surrender (Gen. 32:24-28; Exo. 3:5; 4:17)
i. Jacob had to surrender his strength before connecting power from God (Gen. 32:25)
ii. Moses had to put off his shoes which was a sign of surrender then he secured power with
God to go and deliver the Israelites (Ex. 2:5; 4:17)
4a. Absolute surrender is the yielding of man’s will to the Will and plan of God (Luke 22:42; Acts 21:14)
4b. Absolute surrender is the yielding of man’s effort, strength and ability to the Almightiness of God (Eccl. 9:11; Rom. 9:16; Zech. 4:6)

Also Read: The Products of God’s Power by Pastor Paul Enenche

5. Intense Word Insight (Eccl. 8:4; John 1:1-5; Acts 19:11-12; 20:32; 2Pet. 1:3-4; Dan. 11:32; Hos. 6:3)
i. Jesus Christ our Saviour was the Word of God personified and he moved in the realm of power that could not be quantified (John 1:1-5)
ii. Paul the Apostle was an apostle of power and an embodiment of the Word and he moved in the realm of power (Acts 19:11-12)
5a. Intense Word Insight is the knowledge of God – Who He is and what He can do; it explodes people in Power (Dan. 11:32; Hos. 6:3)
5b. Intense Word Insight is the knowledge of our rights, privileges and inheritance in God especially as it pertains to spiritual power and authority (Acts 20:32; 2 Pet. 1:3-4)

6. Vibrancy in the Holy Ghost (2 Tim. 1:7)
i. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost was an initiation into power for the Apostles (Acts 1:8)
ii. Paul the Apostle of power was a man of the Spirit (Eph. 5:18; Acts 19:11-12)
6a. Praying and fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit intensifies spiritual power (Acts 4:31,33; 2Tim. 1:6-7)
6b. Following the guidance and direction of the Spirit is following the pathway of sonship and power (Rom. 8:14, 1:4)

CONCLUSION:
1. God does not release His power carelessly, He releases His power for those who meet the demands (Hos. 6:3)

2. God’s power is not cheap to access but it is more than worth the cost at the end of the day

Having a Healthy Relationship with In-Laws (Part 3) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Having a Healthy Relationship with In-Laws (Part 3) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Having a Healthy Relationship with In-Laws (Part 3)

Dear Reader,

Peace and Blessings in Jesus name! Last week, I explained to how to place your priorities, when caring and giving to your in-laws. Today, I will be sharing on forgiveness.

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye (Colossians 3:13).

To love your in-laws effectively, you must be ready to forgive them for the wrong they did to you in the past. I discovered from God’s Word that forgiveness is not a feeling, but it is a decision. Love is a healthier way for building and sustaining a marriage than bitterness and hatred. Unforgiveness will only spread its poison to family life, causing a gradual loss of happiness. You may have had terrible experiences with your in-laws and this may have even affected your marriage, but you must decide to forgive them.

NEGATIVE EFFECT OF UNFORGIVENESS
There are two major evils of Unforgiveness.

1. It Draws you to the Past
When you live in unforgiveness, you are trapped by the wrongs of the past. You are tied down by what your mother-in-law did, or what your sister-in-law said against you. Unforgiveness keeps bringing you back to your past. My husband once gave this illustration, if you are driving a vehicle and you keep looking backward, you may have an accident. The reason many people are not going forward in life, even after praying, reading the Bible and confessing Scriptures, is unforgiveness. This sister’s testimony is remarkable:

“Today marks three years since I started attending this church. What brought me here was my spiritual lack. I was born again five years before I came here and was attending a living church. But since I started worshipping here, God has given me the spirit of understanding, so that the Word of God and my faith have been on the increase. Most importantly, there has been captivity turn-around in my life, particularly in my marriage.

My marriage technically broke down on the wedding day, at the reception table! But I stayed on in it for almost a decade. It was a thorn in the flesh. Eventually, I had to leave. Right inside my matrimonial home, I got a SAN to prosecute the divorce.

Also Read: Handling Family Challenges (Part 3) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

I got born again after then, but the Word never came to me until I got to this church. There was a teaching on forgiveness. One day, which I realized that I had been living in self-righteousness all along. I forgive, but don’t forget. I got this corrected in my mind and through the anointed book Marriage Covenant, and anointed preaching’s and counseling of the men of God, my marriage was miraculously healed, and right now, I’m having a honey moon – Olaleye

Remember that your in-laws are humans too, and forgiveness should be done out of love. I don’t know who that person is that you have vowed never to forgive due to past negative experience, but you must let him or her go, so that your destiny in God will be realized.

2. It opens the door to the tormentor
Another evil of Unforgiveness is that it opens the door to the tormentor. A man in the Bible was described as wicked as a result of his unforgiving attitude. The Bible states: Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him (Mathew 18:32-34)

Unforgiveness is wickedness! An unforgiving wife, husband or sister-in-law is a wicked person and the Bible says that God is angry with the wicked every day (Psalm 7:11). Do you want to be identified with the wicked? That man was handed over to the tormentors because he refused to forgive. There are quite a number of people being tormented by the devil and his agents; they opened the door to these tormentors through Unforgiveness. Husbands, wives, when you hold on to Unforgiveness, you are saying, “Welcome” to the tormentor of life. As you clear out all forms of unforgiveness in your heart, God will restore you of all the tormentor may have stolen in Jesus’ name.

I remember the case of a certain woman who had been barren for many years. She went to see a doctor who told her that she needed to be operated upon. Fortunately, the doctor was a believer. On the day of the surgery, this woman was wheeled into the theatre ready for the operation. Then God spoke to the doctor that the reason she had been barren was because she had been holding a grudge against her brother-in-law. The doctor confronted the woman with that word and she opened up to him. She released her brother-in-law and the surgery was no longer necessary. Today, she is a joyful mother of children!

The tormentor of life can come in various forms, such as confusion among family members, depression, sickness, failure, etc., but you will not be a victim anymore! Allow the past to pass, so you can lay hold on your colourful destiny. Don’t you know that there are three days in a man’s life? Yesterday, today and tomorrow. Yesterday is gone, you can’t bring it back anymore, so let it go! Today is where you are right now and what you do in your today determines what you find in your tomorrow. Your tomorrow is great, don’t let anything keep you from it!

You need Jesus in your life to be able to truly forgive. You want to be born again please pray this prayer with faith in your heart. Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace in Jesus’ Name! Call or write to share your testimonies with me through [email protected], 07026385437 OR 08141320204.

Prayer and Prosperity by David Ibiyeomie

Prayer and Prosperity by David Ibiyeomie

Topic: Prayer and Prosperity

Acts 10:4 (KJV) And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

Prayer is an earthly license that compels heavenly interference and intervention. It is communicating with God on the basis of His Word and our relationship with Him. God’s awesome ability and power is enjoyed through prayers.

As a child of God, when you are prayerless, you become powerless because we draw God’s power through prayer. God’s presence is constant but His manifesting power varies. You draw power through prayer in His presence. No economic circumstance can hold you down when you know what to do as a child of God.

Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV) But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Prosperity is the state of all round well-being (physically, mentally and materially) according to 3 John 1:2 (KJV) Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Also Read: Love The Essence Of Christianity by David Ibiyeomie

Financial prosperity on the other hand is having enough of God’s provision to promote the Kingdom of God, to meet our needs and the genuine needs of others according to 2 Corinthians 9:8 (KJV) And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Psalms 20:2-3 (KJV) Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.

Prayer and prosperity simply means seeking divine intervention by engaging the forces of prayer and seed sowing. It is the act of seeking the hand of God in your life by calling on Him and sowing of seeds.

Acts 10:4 (KJV) And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

Your prayer and seeds commit God to respond in your favour. When you pray and do not give, you suffer hardship and when you give without praying, you become vulnerable to the forces of darkness.

Haggai 2:6, 8 (KJV) For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

It is what you allow that God will allow. God cannot shake the heaven and the earth for your desire to come until you engage these forces.

Isaiah 45:11 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.

Power cannot be demonstrated without prayers. When the forces of prayer and giving are applied, no force in hell can stop you. As you apply these forces from today, I see God prosper you beyond human comprehension in Jesus’ Name -Amen!

God bless you

MFM Daily Devotional 19 November 2018 – Power to Recover the Lost Ark

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 19 November 2018 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – Power To Recover The Lost Ark

TOPIC: Power To Recover The Lost Ark (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 19 November 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 4:12-17

MEMORY VERSE: For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.”Job 14:7

The MESSAGE:

In the Fire Scripture, the ark of God was taken away by the Philistines. It was such a serious matter that when Prophet Eli heard of it, he fell and died immediately. What gave the Philistines the ability to take the ark of God? Why did they not take something else? It was because of the importance of the ark. The ark of God represented the presence of God among the Israelites. This made it the most important asset to the Israelites.

As a devoted Christian, what is the most important thing the enemy wants to steal from your life? He wants to steal your salvation, then your star, your health, your marriage, your promotion, your good vision or your dream. When the ark was taken away, the presence of God departed from the Israelites, and sickness, affliction, trouble, poverty, lack, stress and lack of peace became their lot. No wonder Prophet Eli fell and died immediately. He did not die only because of the death of his sons but because of the loss of the Ark of God.

In 1 Samuel 6:19-21, it was discovered that the Ark was returned by force. The presence of the Ark in the hands of the Philistines terrorised and caused trouble for them. If the enemy has stolen the presence of God in your life, it must be recovered because the Ark of God is His presence. To recover is to bring back, to redeem, to return, to heal, to mend, to revive, to rescue and to reclaim. By the power of restoration, you shall recover all you have lost to the enemy today, but there are necessary requirements that must be fulfilled before recovery.

When you lose your “ark”, that is, the most precious thing which attracts God’s presence to your life, it can bring shame, failure, reproach, and poverty. It can lead to frustration, suicide, destruction and death, financial embarrassment, loss of spiritual battles, lack of favour, lack of miracle, miscarriages, lack of honours, etc.

A brilliant girl once had a dream in which her beautiful garment was taken away from her. By the next examination, she failed woefully and before her parents understood what was happening, she had failed three different times. Today, if you are sure you have lost an “ark” to your enemy, pray for the “ark” to trouble the thief and pray for the return of the “ark” today. It is your time of restoration.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
IF YOU DO NOT PURSUE THE ENEMY, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OVERTAKE HIM TO RECOVER YOUR DIVINE BLESSINGS BECAUSE THE ENEMY IS NOT STANDING STILL.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Whatever you have lost to the enemy shall suddenly be restored by fire.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. Thou power of restoration, manifest for my sake today, in the name of Jesus.
2. Powers withholding the instruments of my advancement, die, in the name of Jesus.
3. Every demonic security man in charge of my stolen blessing in satanic bank, die, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. Anger of God, arise, and write the obituary of all my oppressors today, in the name of Jesus.
5. Thou power of restoration, usher me out of the balcony of disgrace, in the name of Jesus.
6. You the spiritual thieves assigned to steal from me again, wherever you are, die, in the name of Jesus.
7. All my arks and blessings stolen by the devil and now in the hand of wrong persons, arise against the thieves and be returned to me, in the name of Jesus.

TREM Devotional 19 November 2018 – Choose To See What God Has Given You

Topic: Choose To See What God Has Given You [TREM Devotional 19 November 2018]

“And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.” Joshua 6:2 KJV

Child of God stop seeing the big walls of Jericho. Refuse to see the soldiers on the walls of Jericho. As a matter of fact don’t even see their spears and other things. Choose to see only what God has given to you. The choice is yours. Choose to see Jericho as your possession because what you see is what you get. Don’t join the world when they are running their mouths in the negative. We are not going back; we are going forward, what you couldn’t achieve before now shall be achieved. God is waiting for now. It is now you will buy your own Jeep. Others have been buying used cars. But you are going to buy brand new ones.

I have given you Jericho but Joshua, you must see it. You must see yourself taking over Jericho. Don’t see yourself running from Jericho. See Jericho falling because the lips of Jehovah have said it. You see, whenever God says something, the onus lies on Him to bring it to pass, not you. He is just looking for you to believe it.

The current location of the headquarters of our ministry is a product of what we saw. No one wanted to touch the place with a long poll. But today everyone is struggling for land here, including those who didn’t know how it happened. They are now struggling for land. You see whilst they saw monkeys and other things, we saw thousands of people worshipping and raising up holy hands. That was what we saw and today it has come to pass.

I declare that every dream you have will come to pass! There is no dream or vision that you have for your life that will fail. No enemy will touch you. No devil will abort your destiny.

Topic: Look and Live (Open Heaven 19 November 2018)

Memorise: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:”John 3:14

Read: Numbers 21:5-9, John 3:14-15 (KJV)

Numbers 21:5-9:
5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

John 3:14-15:
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Bible in One Year: Ezekiel 16, Luke 23:44-24:12

Open Heaven 19 November 2018 Monday MESSAGE:

Our God is a God of purpose, and He demonstrated this through the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. There was purpose attached to everything about Jesus when He was here on earth. Ending His mission in Jerusalem, the location of His crucifixion, and the type of death He died: all these have deep spiritual significance which the wise will seek to understand and enjoy the benefits attached (Hebrews 13:11-13, Galatians 3:13-14). There are several reasons why Jesus had to die on a cross, and one of these is so that we can look to Him on the cross. Looking unto Jesus with the eyes of faith as He hangs on the cross has many benefits. One of these benefits is that when you see Him agonising on the cross of Calvary for your sins, your attitude and commitment to Him as a serious-minded Christian will be revitalised. A hymn writer once wrote that when he beheld the cross where the King of glory was crucified, he counted all that seemed gain to him as dung. The allure of the world will lose its value to you when you look to the cross of Calvary.

The experience of the children of Israel in today’s Bible reading was a shadow of what we would experience under the New Testament. When the Israelites became stubborn in the wilderness and God sent deadly serpents to them, a lot of them died. As usual, they cried unto God and God instructed Moses to make a fiery serpent of brass to be hung on a pole. Numbers 21:9 tells us the result of this, saying:

“And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”

In John 3:14, the Lord declared to us that His death on the cross was foreshadowed by this hanging of the brass serpent on a pole in the wilderness. How amazing! This means that coming to Calvary and looking to Jesus on the cross can produce physical healing and spiritual salvation in the life of a person. Therefore for anyone who has been bitten by the serpent of sin, if you look to Jesus on the cross of Calvary and believe in Him, you will live and not die. You will not only experience abundant life on earth, you will also have eternal life. Beloved, in whatever adverse circumstances you may find yourself, whether physical or spiritual, Jesus has paid for your healing in full. Therefore, come to the place of His cross in submission and look up to Him for salvation and healing. Accept Him, not only as your Saviour, but also as your Lord. Let Him begin to direct the affairs of your life from today. It is interesting to note that some children of Israel refused to look up to the serpent of brass, and they died in their thousands. Only those who looked lived. Don’t be numbered among the unbelievers who died in their sin of unbelief.

Topic: Faith Works! [DCLM Daily Manna 19 November 2018 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text 1 Kings 17:8-16 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee (1 Kings 17:9).

MESSAGE:

Famine in human history is ancient and recurrent. Abraham, with his son and grandson, Isaac and Jacob respectively, had their own experiences of this unpleasant situation. However, the fact is that God gave each of them victory.

The text reveals another episode of famine in the land of Israel. The whole nation, including the prophet of God, felt the devastation which this calamity unleashed on the people. The divine providence that brought Elijah the prophet, the widow of Zarephath and her household out of famine is the focus of our reflection this day.

Elijah obeyed God’s instruction that he should go to Zarephath and dwell there for his sustenance. The widow on her part, obeyed with adorable submission, the word and instruction of the prophet to provide him a little cake. And the God of miracle multiplied the meagre flour and oil of the poor woman into a store house of food that sustained them all. “And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah and she and he (Elijah) and her house, did eat many days”.

Faith in the living God and obedience to His faithful servants will fetch us all our needed miracles in life. Indeed, faith in Christ can enable us soar over all problematic situations. The force and effect of faith in action are quite observable in the lives of trusting saints. Faith fixes all things for us, including food in famine. True! We can all feed fat in famine when we obey God’s word and stay where He has provided for our succour.

Thought For The Day: All that we need in life is in Jesus. He satisfies adequately.

Seeds of Destiny 19 November 2018 Devotional: More Keys to Activating the Blessing of God

Topic: More Keys to Activating the Blessing of God [Seeds of Destiny 19 November 2018 Devotional]

Scripture: Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10

Thought For The Day: Your prophet is for your profit.

Previously, on the journey of exploring the activation keys to the Blessing of God, we looked at a life of obedience and righteousness as the first keys; we saw that obeying God is a trigger for the release of the Blessing.

Today, we shall see other keys that activate the Blessing of God on one’s life:

1. The practice of tithing and giving
The Bible says, ‘bring all your tithe into the store house and I will pour you out a Blessing…’ (Malachi 3:10). So, the tithe is a Blessing connector. Anyone who does not value the practice of giving and tithing is not permitted to have the Blessing; and if a person does not tithe obediently, promptly, faithfully, revelationally, and accurately, the Blessing would be far from him.

Beloved, it does not matter how long a person prays for a change of story, if he is not a tither, the struggle continues.

2. Existence under prophetic covering or influence
It has been confirmed that anyone who is on a higher level spiritually and in the blessing can be used of God to release the Blessing upon a person who is on a lower level (Hebrews 7:7). Your prophet is for your profit. In Numbers 6:23, the Bible says, ‘On this wise shall the priest bless the people…’ The major assignment of the priest is to bless the people. So, the priests are custodians of the Blessing.

Beloved, my counsel is, obey the instructions of your prophet, value his person, and then the Blessing he carries and pronounces will flow upon your life.

Remember this: Your prophet is for your profit.

Assignments:
1. Go through the study of today again.
2. Be committed to the covenant of tithing and giving; be connected to a genuine prophetic cover.

Our Daily Bread 19 November 2018 Devotional – Hard Conversations

Topic: Hard Conversations [Our Daily Bread 19 November 2018 Devotional]

Read: 1 Samuel 25:21–35, Bible in a Year: Ezekiel 11–13; James 1

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:18

I once drove fifty miles to have a hard conversation with a remote staff person. I had received a report from another employee that suggested he was misrepresenting our company, and I was concerned for our reputation. I felt nudged to offer an opinion that might change his choices.

In 1 Samuel 25, an unlikely person took great personal risk to confront a future king of Israel who was about to make a disastrous choice. Abigail was married to Nabal, whose character matched the meaning of his name (“fool”) (vv. 3, 25). Nabal had refused to pay David and his troops the customary wage for protecting his livestock (vv. 10–11). Hearing that David planned a murderous revenge on her household, and knowing her foolish husband wouldn’t listen to reason, Abigail prepared a peace offering, rode to meet David, and persuaded him to reconsider (vv. 18–31).

How did Abigail accomplish this? After sending ahead donkeys loaded with food to satisfy David and his men and settle the debt, she spoke truth to David. She wisely reminded David of God’s call on his life. If he resisted his desire for revenge, when God made him king, he wouldn’t “have on his conscience the staggering burden of needless bloodshed” (v. 31).

You might also know someone dangerously close to a mistake that could harm others and compromise their own future effectiveness for God. Like Abigail, might God be calling you to a hard conversation?

Prayer: Dear God, please help me know when to lovingly confront others.

Sometimes following God means difficult conversations.

Kenneth Copeland Devotional 19 November 2018 – From Milk to Meat

Topic: From Milk to Meat [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 19 November 2018]

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. – Hebrews 5:12

Do you want to know why the Body of Christ has been in such a mess over the past few years? Do you want to know why the devil has been able to make a public display of our weaknesses? Do you want to know why, instead of being unified and strong, we’ve often been torn apart by division and criticisms that come not from without but within?

It is because, as the Lord said in Hebrews, the people of God have need of milk and not of strong meat. They’re babies! The people of God for the most part don’t know His ways.

That’s why He’s commissioned you and me to train believers who are unskilled in the Word of righteousness and help bring them to maturity.

“Sure,” you say, “you’re a preacher, but what about me? What can I do?” Well, I’ll tell you. I believe God has called us both to do something. You’ll find it in Hebrews 3:13. “Exhort one another daily, while it is called today.”

That’s no longer just a Bible verse to me. It’s a direct command from the Lord. Gloria and I received that command a few years ago when we were preaching in Australia. It prompted us to step out in faith on daily television. But it’s not a command that was just meant for us. It’s one we all must obey in our own way.

“Exhort one another daily.” Pray over that scripture today, won’t you? Fellowship with your Father over it. Ask Him how He wants you to fulfill that command. He may tell you to help support ministries like Gloria’s and mine that teach the uncompromised Word of God daily. He may tell you to fill yourself so full of His Word that it spills out on everyone you meet and encourages them to go on—and grow on—in Jesus.

Whatever He says, do it! There’s a Church full of spiritual babies out there and more are being born all the time. You can help bring them from milk to meat. Begin to exhort them. Today.

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 3:7-19
