Kenneth & Gloria Copeland Devotional 7 October 2018 – Leave Foolishness Behind

Topic: Leave Foolishness Behind [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland Devotional 7 October 2018]

Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.Proverbs 13:21

Satan has had us in a poverty mentality so long that it’s tough for us to grasp just how intensely God really does desire to prosper us—even though He’s demonstrated that desire again and again.

Take Abraham, for example. God made him an extremely wealthy man. Genesis 13:2 says he was rich in cattle, in silver and in gold.

Then, of course, there was Solomon. The Bible says he surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

God’s servant Job possessed such great wealth that he was called the greatest of all the men of the East. That was before Satan put him through the wringer. Afterward, God blessed him with more than twice what Satan had stolen.

The problem is, just the thought of the kind of wealth God gave to those men scares most believers today. They’re afraid it would destroy them.

God has said that “the prosperity of fools shall destroy them” (Proverbs 1:32).

But that doesn’t mean you should avoid being prosperous. It means you should avoid being a fool!

I challenge you, this week, to go to the book of Proverbs and find out for yourself what God says about the characteristics of a fool. Let the Holy Spirit search your heart. If you see ways in which you’ve been a fool, repent and make a firm decision not to be caught in that trap again.

Let the Word of God inspire you to leave foolishness behind and stir within you the faith to reach out and receive what you, as a redeemed child of the living God, have a divine right to—not the curse of poverty, but the blessing of prosperity!

Scripture Reading: Genesis 15:1-6

Open Heaven 7 October 2018 – The Best Time to Sow

Open Heaven 7 October 2018 Sunday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – The Best Time to Sow

Topic: The Best Time to Sow (Open Heaven 7 October 2018)

Memorise: “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.”- Genesis 26:12

Read: Genesis 26:12-14 (KJV)

12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.

13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:

14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

Bible in One Year: Isaiah 41-42, Luke 2:41-3:6

Open Heaven 7 October 2018 Sunday MESSAGE:

Any farmer who wants to reap a bountiful harvest knows that sowing is a specialised act. In other words, you don’t expect a great harvest when you sow at a time of your own choosing and in a haphazard manner. After soil preparation, sowing is often the next and most important step taken by a farmer in anticipation of harvest. The principles of sowing that govern the physical realm are also applicable in the spiritual realm Ecclesiastes 3:2 tells us that there is a right time, which also is the best time, for sowing. Good farmers know very well that the planting of crops is a major event, and its timing depends on the type of seed to be sown. Some factors that determine the right time to sow include the season or time of the year, sunshine and clouds, length of day and night, rainfall pattern and soil fertility. Sowing in the time of famine, being a time of drought, is a ridiculous thing to do, to say the least. Nevertheless, for Isaac in today’s Bible reading, it was the right time, and he experienced the miracle of a hundredfold harvest. His case is a classic example of doing the ridiculous to produce the miraculous. Just as it happened to Isaac, I pray that as you sow into God’s kingdom, you will experience returns in hundred fold in Jesus’ Name.

When is the best time to sow into God’s kingdom? The best time to sow is when you are born again and living in total obedience to the will of God. It is when the source of your livelihood is clean and your way of life is pure, such that you can lift up holy hands to God in adoration and worship (Psalm 24:3-5). It is when curses have been removed, devourers rebuked, cankerworms destroyed and contrary circumstances have been turned around to work in your favor. If for any reason you have missed it somehow and your life does not fit these descriptions, it is never too late with God. You can retrace your steps back home to God for a new beginning- a new beginning of peace, progress and bountiful harvest. Thankfully, it is still the season for sowing, and there is still time to sow righteousness and obedience now, before you face God’s law of harvest based on your deeds (Romans 2:6). It is yet a sunny day, the weather is favorable, and the timing is right. You can set your life on the right path by sowing righteousness, mercy and favor today. Invest into God’s kingdom today and reap a hundredfold in eternity. The best seed you can sow is the seed of your life. Invest your time, money and energy into soul winning activities today and watch as things will begin to work in your favor. If you are busy doing God’s business, He will also respond by going the extra mile to take care of your family and business.

Open Heaven 7 October 2018 Sunday Prayer Point:

Father, please let my contribution to the expansion of Your kingdom produce hundredfold returns for me in Jesus’ Name.

Canadian High School Worksheet Causes Controversy After Calling Racism Right-Wing – Urban Christian News

A Canadian father says a school worksheet about the “political spectrum” assigned to his 10th-grade son amounted to “propaganda” in its characterization of right-wing politics.

The worksheet, as shared by Matt DeFouw on Monday, asked students to characterize various statements as right, left or “centre” on the political spectrum.

Statement No. 3: “A person who is a racist.”

The teacher’s answer: That person would be on the political “right.”

School District No. 73 – located in Kamloops, British Columbia – said in an emailed statement that the assignment was given to students in a social studies class as they were learning how world views lead to different perspectives in society.

“The teacher realizes that Monday’s lesson was not balanced and was an oversimplification of a very complex topic and will revisit the lesson with the students to explore the topic more thoroughly,” the statement says.

The worksheet had other characterizations that DeFouw took issue with. He wrote on social media that the worksheet was “essentially molding the next generation of voters to believe that Conservatives or people ‘on the right’ are misogynist racists who hate immigrants and want to enact a brutal police state,”

That post has gained national attention, prompting British Columbia’s education minister to criticize the worksheet as “offensive,” according to Global News.

Joel Osteen Says His Personality ‘Wants People to Like Me’ but Realizes Some People Won’t

(Screenshot: Facebook)Televangelist Joel Osteen at Lifepoint Church in Virginia on Thursday October 4, 2018.

Joel Osteen, pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, revealed that he has a personality that “wants people to like me” but he has accepted the reality that some people won’t.

“My personality type is that I want people to like me. This is my nature. I got into the public eye, and I realized that some people won’t like you because they don’t like what I stand for. They don’t like that I’m successful. But I realized that you won’t get everyone to like you,” Osteen said at Lifepoint Church in Virginia where he promoted his new book, Next Level Thinking.

Before delving into a discussion with Lifepoint Church’s Senior Pastor Daniel Floyd, Osteen told the 1,650 people who had gathered to hear him speak that he didn’t come prepared with a special message but ended up sharing one anyway.

“I believe that God can take you places that you can’t go on your own. When you honor God with your life, when you keep Him first place, you don’t know what kind of door God’s gonna open. Never dreamed I’d be a minister, never dreamed I’d be up here with y’all tonight, but you know what? God’s plan for your life is bigger than your own,” he said.

He said at one point while working…

Guildford Cathedral hosts ‘stunning’ poppy display

The grade II listed building on Friday night was filled with a projection of poppies to enable guests to contemplate and reflect on the history of the war.

Matt O’Grady, chief operating officer at Guildford Cathedral told Premier what visitors arriving after dark on Saturday should expect to see.

He said: “It’s going to be a completely immersive experience.

“The light display is designed to project throughout the cathedral so when people come in from the west end, the whole of the cathedral will be bathed in this poppy display.”

Music, art and poetry will also feature in the sensory experience to remember those who fort in any conflict.

O’Grady told Premier more about the event’s theme of peace and reconciliation.

“We do remember the sacrifice of those who have fallen during the war and what they have done for their country,” he explained.

“But also, we hope to have learnt the lessons of previous conflicts and look towards a future where reconciliation and peace are the watch-words, which we think falls very much into the Christian way of life.”

Created by Peter Walker, artistic director at Lichfield Cathedral and Luxmuralis, the installation will also include the names of…

Christian charity urges government to ‘act urgently’ to curb climate change

Scientists and representatives of 195 governments meeting in South Korea have approved a report on the impacts of a rise of 1.5C above pre-industrial levels and the action needed to limit global warming to that level.

Ahead of its publication, Neil Thorns, director of advocacy at Catholic international development charity (Cafod), said: “This report proves that keeping global temperatures to 1.5 degrees is a necessity not an ambition.

“Faced with such information we cannot leave poor communities standing on the frontline of this potential storm, we must act urgently.

“Pope Francis has challenged politicians to ensure that their actions leave a legacy that does ‘care for our common home’ in the long-term and this report is yet another wake up call for them.”

The finalised report is due to be published on Monday and will sound a warning about the speed and scale of measures required to keep temperature rises to a level beyond which many vulnerable countries say their survival is at risk.

It will prompt new calls for dramatic and urgent steps to cut greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050.

That would mean an end to burning fossil fuels to generate power, the replacement of petrol and diesel cars with electric vehicles or other clean alternatives and no more gas boilers to heat homes, in just a few decades.

Pensioner honoured by church for 102 years of service

Sheila Wyles, 104, has been closely associated with the Kirk family in Perth and Kinross since being taken as a young child in 1916.

More than a century later, Mrs Wyles is now the oldest active Church of Scotland Guild member in the country.

Moderator of the Church of Scotland Rt Rev Susan Brown described the pensioner as an “amazing lady and a true inspiration”.

Mrs Wyles said she was “very proud” to have been given a special long service award by Mrs Brown last week.

“I never thought I would reach this milestone,” Mrs Wyles said.

“I first went to Sunday school in Methven when I was two and when I was 14 my mother took me to Guild work party meetings.

“I have been involved with the Guild since then and have enjoyed it very much – it is a way of life and a big support in times of difficulty – and to be honest I do not like missing meetings.”

Born on July 6, 1914, just ahead of the outbreak of the First World War, Mrs Wyles grew up in Methven outside Perth and served in the Home Guard Auxiliary during the Second World War.

She credits her long life to her strong Christian faith and supportive friends and family.

But she has lived through heartbreak, losing her husband Albert in the early 1960s and their daughter Rachel died of lupus in 2001 at the age of 51.

She threw herself into fundraising for research into the systemic autoimmune disease when her daughter was…

Churches urged to reclaim the pumpkin this Halloween

World Vision UK’s Pumpkin Heroes campaign offers Bible-based tools to share the gospel with youngsters aged between four and ten.

Beverley Jarvis-Pearson from the charity told Premier why they’ve launched the campaign for a second year in a row.

She said: “At World Vision, we’re really keen to work with churches.

“We kind of recognised a couple of years ago that churches were maybe unsure what to do with Halloween and we were really keen to help them continue to disciple their families and build community.”

The resource pack includes a leader’s guide, illustrated story book, a cartoon film, a Pumpkin Heroes Hunt including Bible verses and prayers, sing-along worship songs and other activities that are available to download online for free.

Jarvis-Pearson explained why she believed people should get involved.

“It’s just the way that churches and schools and families can get a pack that will really help them engage more positively with Halloween in a hope-filled way,” she added.

More than 2,000 churches last year got involved with the campaign.
