5 Ways Busy Leaders Shove Volunteers to the SidelinesTony Morgan

Many times we ask people to trade their one day off to volunteer for an event (service) they cannot participate in. We have to recruit setup and teardown teams, parking and nursery volunteers and many others who rarely get to experience services. Why does it seem so difficult to recruit and maintain volunteers? There are 5 key lessons the church can learn from this year’s Super Bowl Committee:

RCCG Sunday School STUDENT Manual 7 October 2018, Lesson 6

RCCG Sunday School STUDENT Manual 7 October 2018 Lesson 6 – Be Holy

TOPIC: Be Holy [RCCG Sunday School STUDENT Manual 7 October 2018]

MEMORY VERSE: “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;1 Peter 1:15 (scroll down for RCCG SUNDAY SCHOOL 7 OCTOBER 2018 HYMN)

BIBLE PASSAGE: Psalms 15:1-5 (RCCG Sunday School STUDENT Manual 7 October 2018)

1 LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?

2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.

4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

INTRODUCTION:
The journey to holiness begins with a total submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the leading of the Holy Spirit. God is holy and cannot condone sin (Isaiah 59:2) because everything about Him is holy (1Peter 1:16). Hence, believers are commanded to live holy in order to be like God (Matthew 5:48). To fulfil this mandate, believers must understand the reasons for holy living and the benefits that accompany it.

LESSON OUTLINES
1. Why believers must be holy
2. Benefits of holiness

WHY BELIEVERS MUST BE HOLY
Our God is a holy God and He commands every believer to be perfect in His sight (Leviticus 20:26; Genesis 17:1; Ephesians 1:4). God desires to use believers as His chosen vessels to reach out to the numerous sinners out there, hence, believers must be holy (2 Timothy 2:21). Holiness is necessary for a believer to do exploits and do greater works (John 14:12). Sinners cannot fellowship with a holy God (1 John 1:3-7). The believer must be holy in order to be able to see God on the last day (Hebrews 12:14).

BENEFITS OF HOLINESS
A holy believer receives classified information from God (Genesis 18:17; Amos 3:7; Psalm 25:14). God builds a wall of protection around such a believer (Proverbs 18:10). He will also have peace with his enemies (Proverbs 16:7). He will enjoy divine blessings and long life (Deuteronomy 28:1-13; Proverbs 3:1-2; 4:10). Living holy enables every believer to enjoy God’s presence and to live forever with God in eternity (Psalm 24:3-5).

Other benefits include answered prayers (Luke 1:13; Psalm 34:15,17), secure future (Isaiah 3:10; Jeremiah 29:11), divine health (Exodus 15:26), supernatural prosperity (Psalm 92:12), victory (Deuteronomy 28:7), promotion and supernatural anointing (Hebrews 1:9).

CONCLUSION
Living holy must be the yearning of every true believer (Matthew 5:6). Always strive to live holy.

QUESTIONS
1. Why should believer be holy?
2. Mention some benefits of holiness.

Joyce Meyer Devotional 6 October 2018 — Unseen Promises Exist

Topic: Unseen Promises Exist [Joyce Meyer Devotional 6 October 2018]

But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please have me excused.’ Luke 14:18

Before the fulfillment of God’s promise to multiply Abram, He changed his name from Abram (“high exalted father”) to Abraham (“father of a multitude”) (see Genesis 17:1–6). God spoke the promise long before it was visible to anyone.

Anything that is in the Word of God is a promise that be can rightfully and legally spoken forth even before it visibly exists.

Reach into the spiritual realm, which you cannot see, and pull the promises of God out of there with the words of your mouth, and prophesy them into existence. Read God’s Word, and speak as the Holy Spirit leads you to do so today.

Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for all of the promises in Your Word. Help me to fill my thoughts and words with the great things You want to do in my life. Help me to declare Your good plan over my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

MFM Daily Devotional 6 October 2018 – Obstacles on Your Way to Breakthrough

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 6 October 2018 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – Obstacles on Your Way to Breakthrough

TOPIC: Obstacles on Your Way to Breakthrough (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 6 October 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Judges 6:25-32

MEMORY VERSE: “So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.Joshua 6:20

The MESSAGE:

Yesterday, we talked about divine internal cleansing. Today we shall examine obstacles on our way to breakthrough. Barriers, hindrances, stumbling blocks, oppositions, limitations, prison gates of brass, bushes, ground full of excreta or mud, mountains, etc are some of those things we see in our dreams preventing us from moving forward. They are all the same; they are dirty things that need to be cleansed for us to move forward spiritually and physically.

There is a way or road to everything you must achieve in this world. This is anchored on the popular saying that “the world does not want you to have what you deserve but what you enforce.” There is, therefore the need after cleansing of the outside (removal of unfit garment), to also clean your ways to breakthrough. What God is showing some of us in our dreams concerning our paths to progress is very terrible. How can a man who saw himself marching on excreta have a prosperous business? How can a student who saw himself moving inside a bush or wilderness have academic success?

A woman in one of our programmes prayed intensively before resting and sleeping off. She said she saw herself walking on a bushy road and fire fell down from heaven and started burning the bush around her and a clear and neat road later manifested under the burning bush, which she now followed.

There is a way, road or path for everything man must achieve in this world, and the intention of the enemy is to block or contaminate such paths. It is our duty therefore to clear such paths with acidic prayers. If you have ever had such revelations, today is your day, because if you do not sanitise such paths, certain expectations may not come to pass. The physical consequences of such dreams include: sinful life, unbelief, weakness, discouragement, frustration, laziness, ill-health, poverty, joblessness, no helpers, delay in good things, living in debt, lack of promotion, loss of good things, confusion and depression. The Bible says “Say unto the mountains be moved”, and the wall of Jericho had to be pulled down for repositioning. Today, in order to pull down those barriers and sanitise your ways, you have to pray. Prayer is the key for removing obstacles on your way.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
EVERY MAN’S MOUNTAIN IS HIS IGNORANCE AND EVERY MAN’S IGNORANCE IS HIS MOUNTAIN.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Your life is marching unto glory and the gate of hell shall not prevail.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. Holy Spirit, I thank You because You have the power to bulldoze mountains, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every demonic power on my way of progress, die, in the name of Jesus.
3. Acquired obstacles preventing me from breaking through, I pull you down, in Jesus’ name.

EVENING
4. Load of affliction upon my shoulder and my head, catch fire, in the name of Jesus.
5. Instruments of bewitchment set in motion against me, catch fire, in the name of Jesus.
6. Every witchcraft diversion against my progress, be cancelled, in the name of Jesus.
7. I receive the fire and strength to clear my way to breakthrough, in the name of Jesus.

Dwelling In Understanding (Part 4) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Dwelling In Understanding (Part 4) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Dwelling In Understanding (Part 4)

Dear Reader,

The issue of effective communication in understanding your spouse cannot be over-emphasized. Last week, I showed you how trust and openness can enhance intimacy and ultimately make your communication with your spouse effective. This week, I will like to continue as I discuss other areas that help make communication more effectual.

Listening: Listening is crucial to effective communication. A wise man once said, “Good listeners are good lovers.” You must learn to pay close attention to what your spouse is saying. Any spouse who is more talkative or too quiet to respond to communication falls short in this area and needs to do something about it fast. There must be a talking and a listening, in order to have effective communication between both of you. Listening expresses care and attention.

Be sensitive to non-verbal messages as well as the ones expressed in words. A look, someone’s posture, leaving the room when a discussion starts, can communicate important messages. But they can be confusing messages, clarify the message as best as you can. Don’t assume. To listen effectively as you take time out to talk, wait until the kids are asleep, you can turn off the television or put off the phone. As much as possible, avoid any form of distraction. You can also take a solitary walk or a ride with your spouse. Go out for a drink and sit on a park bench. Change the setting to maximise your chances for effective communication.

Also Read: Attaining Intimacy in Marriage (Part 4) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Sometimes, just be there. Someone to lean on or to be a listener is comforting. The closeness those roles provide can be most helpful. Important issues should be wisely but thoroughly discussed. That is where correct timing comes in. You must speak to your spouse when there is enough time to dig deep into matters. You must understand your spouse so well that you know when to say what, how to say it and when to say it.

Even when a matter so overwhelms you, you can still compose yourself to wait for the appropriate time to speak; else, you will forfeit the purpose of that communication. There is a due season for every spoken word and this must be observed, if you desire to understand your spouse via the tool of effective communication. The Word of God says in Ecclesiastes 3:1, 7, To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: … a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

Remember, the essence of effective communication is to enhance intimacy, unity and love. Therefore, the words you speak to your spouse are meant to edify and to please, not using abusive words and hurting each other’s feelings. Be willing to admit when you are wrong and be ready always to say, “I’m sorry,” giving no room to the devil.

You should always ask yourself these four questions anytime there are things to be discussed: Why am I saying this? You must have a genuine reason for wanting to say whatever you want to say. Therefore, you must have it at the back of your mind to be able to effectively pass across the purpose of that discussion. Will it make us a better couple? Make sure that whatever you want to say to your spouse must of necessity add to your intimacy and happiness in marriage, before you proceed to say it. What is my motive? Do not have any ulterior motive for whatever you want to discuss. Let your motive be pure and sincere. Will it destroy our intimacy or make my spouse lose respect for me? All these will guide and help you achieve great understanding of your spouse.

The most effective communication with your spouse will take place after you have learnt the art of communicating with God, the maker of everything. You cannot communicate with the God you do not know. Therefore, it is of utmost importance for you to develop a relationship with God by accepting His son, Jesus Christ into your life. If you are ready to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, then say this prayer: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

Isaiah 44:26a – That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers…

God goes out of his way to honour the words of his servants. Therefore when I prophesy over your life, believe it because God will honour it. If you believe that God sent me, every word I will speak today will come to pass in your life. When prophets speaks over your life, they are not empty words. If you receive it, God will honour it in your life. Don’t ever doubt it because God is not a man that he should lie. He is not the son of man that he should repent. If he has said it, he will do it. If he has spoken it, it will come to pass.

2 Chron.20:20b -… Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

My God bless you in the name of Jesus! Anything stopping you from lifting your head, I command it to be destroyed in the name of Jesus! Today marks an end to every affliction in your life! Teens Open Heavens 6 October 2018 – Jesus Is All You Need

Topic: Jesus Is All You Need [Teens Open Heavens 6 October 2018]

Memorise: After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy Shield, and thy exceeding great reward. Genesis 15:1

Read: Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

Bible In One Year: Isaiah 34-36, Philippians 2

MESSAGE:

All the power you will ever need is contained in one Name; Jesus. Anyone who really desires to get to Heaven must be acquainted with that Name because He is the only road to the Heavenly planet. That Name can satisfy every need. Once you have Jesus, you have everything.

A rich man once asked his son to choose one of his properties while the rest will go to his faithful slave. Fortunately, the son met an old man who told him that all he needed to do was choose the slave and everything the rich man leave will automatically become his. There are some things that you will possess and they will automatically give you access to possess everything else (Matthew 6:33). All you need is Jesus because if you have Him, you have everything.

Key Point: Do you really have Jesus?

Hymn 10:

1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a Friend so faithful?
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer!

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield You;
You wilt find a solace there.

DCLM Daily Manna 6 October 2018 – Integrity Is The Word

Topic: Integrity Is The Word [DCLM Daily Manna 6 October 2018 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: 1 Samuel 12:1-5 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man’s hand” (1 Samuel 12:4).

MESSAGE:

When Satan came before the Lord with the sons of God, he was asked if he had considered Job’s life of integrity as someone “who feared God and eschewed evil”. Satan expectedly tried to hinge Job’s righteousness on God’s blessings and preservation (Job 1:8-11).

The text today deals with Samuel’s valedictory address to Israel. He had presented himself for public scrutiny and had challenged them to testify against him in any area he might have erred as a leader. Their verdict was unanimous – he had lived a blameless life. And God was a Witness to that.

The life of Samuel presents a worthy model and challenge to all ministers as well as born again Christians. Today, many hide under the mask that “nobody can be perfect” and so, they continue the downward journey of sin and degradation. But man was created in the image of God, to live a holy life like his Maker.

Salvation from sin is the beginning of a true and living relationship with God. For a real child of God, living a holy life is not optional. It is the requirement to get to heaven. It is what pleases God. “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). Zechariah and his wife, Elizabeth, “…were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless” (Luke 1:6). Paul and his associates lived “holily, justly and unblameably” before the brethren (1 Thessalonians 2:10). Same for Daniel (Daniel 6:4). So, anyone accepting his shortcomings instead of praying to God to get rid of them will only have himself to blame eventually and eternally. God’s unchanging standard remains – “Be ye holy for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16).

Thought For The Day: No holiness, no heaven.

Seeds of Destiny 6 October 2018 Devotional — The Voice And Utterance Of Motive

Topic: The Voice And Utterance Of Motive [Seeds of Destiny 6 October 2018 Devotional]

Scripture: But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

Thought For The Day: The utterance of your motive is louder than the utterance of your actions.

Motive connotes the expressed or unexpressed reason for an action; it is the driving force of a man’s actions. The truth is, there is no human being on earth that acts without a definite motive.

It is amazing to know that motives have voices; motive speaks, and the utterance of your motive is louder than the utterance of your actions. The voice of your motive speaks louder than the voice of your actions. It is true that actions speak louder than words but motives speak louder than actions. This is why our anchor Scripture confirms that beyond our actions, God sees and knows the intent of our hearts. Behind our actions, God goes deeper to know the motive behind the things we do – why we do what we do, why we go to church, why we join a particular department in church, why we give offering, why we make money, the motive behind our quest for popularity, etc. For example, most people make donations in church, and in the sight of men, they appear very okay but in the sight of God, their donations are abominations because their motives are wrong.

In 2 Chronicles 25:1-2, the Bible says, Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem…And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart.

Beloved, what is your driving force in life? Are you driven by the consensus or you are driven by your convictions? Is it the craving to be like others or the desire and passion to please God? My counsel is, ensure you have a correct, genuine and sincere motive behind every action for God sees beyond your actions; He sees your heart.

Remember This: The utterance of your motive is louder than the utterance of your actions.

Assignments:
1. Ask God to purge you of every wrong motive behind the actions of your life.
2. Endeavour to understand God’s motive behind His actions from His Word.

Prayer: Lord, I ask for forgiveness for every wrong motive I have ever had in doing anything both before You and before men. I receive the grace to cultivate and maintain the right motive in everything I do, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TREM 6 October 2018 Daily Devotional – Your Redeemer Is Alive and Strong

Topic: Your Redeemer Is Alive and Strong [TREM 6 October 2018 Daily Devotional]

All through the scriptures, you will find out that the Bible talks about our Redeemer. He is not a weakling. Our redeemer is strong. Your redeemer can be touched with the feelings of your infirmities. He can identify with where you are. He knows the tears you shed in the early hours of the morning and late hours of the night. Your Redeemer knows the hairs on your head. He knows everything about you. And not just that He knows, the Bible says, He is a strong Redeemer. Glory to God!

When Job was passing through severe challenges in life; he had difficulties which he couldn’t explain. At a point, he said to himself, I can’t explain what’s going on with me, but there is something I know: I know my Redeemer lives {Job 19:25}. My Redeemer is alive and not dead. He can feel what I feel. Child of God, I don’t know what your challenge is, but one thing I know is that your Redeemer lives. When we are talking about a Redeemer, we are talking about a Person who has the capacity to bring you out of your situation. When you are in a difficult situation and you cannot find your way out, He knows what it will take to get you out of the situation. If it is money, He will pay it. If it is His life that should be given, He is ready to give it.

There are three qualities a redeemer must have:

1. He must identify with you, that is there must be a connection, and link between you and him.

2. He must be willing to do it.

3. He must have the capacity to do it.

I am glad that Jesus Christ, your Redeemer, has all these qualities. And He put His life on the line to redeem you. Praise God!
