Open Heavens 26 September 2018 – It Shall Not Stand!

Open Heavens 26 September 2018 Wednesday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – It Shall Not Stand!

Topic: It Shall Not Stand! (Open Heavens 26 September 2018)

Memorise: “For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.”- Psalm 125:3

Read: Nehemiah 4:1-15 (KJV)

1 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.

2 And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?

3 Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.

4 Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:

5 And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders.

6 So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.

7 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,

8 And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.

9 Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.

10 And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.

11 And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.

12 And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return unto us they will be upon you.

13 Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.

14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.

15 And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.

Bible in One Year: Isaiah 7-9, Mark 13:24-14:9

Open Heavens 26 September 2018 Wednesday MESSAGE:

I want you to see today’s topic as a prophetic word from God coming to you with power. You may be wondering “What is it that shall not stand?” The counsel of the wicked against you shall not stand in Jesus’ Name. In this regard, there are many lessons to be learnt from Nehemiah and his team of builders. It is amazing that there are people who are opposed to good things of life, but the good news is that for those who know the true God, the counsel of the wicked will never stand. When Nehemiah got to know of the conspiracy hatched by Sanballat, Tobiah, and the Arabians and their other devilish allies like the Ammonites and Ashdodites, he called for prayer. Nehemiah 4:9 says:

“Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.”

Beloved, if your suffering must cease and the conspiracies of the wicked against you must no longer stand, you must learn to pray.

Furthermore, observe that Nehemiah set a watch, day and night, against the evil conspirator. Jesus told the disciples in Mark 14:38 to watch and pray. Nehemiah and his team did not watch alone, because they knew that “except the Lord keep the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain” (Psalm 127:1) at the same time, they did not pray alone; they also watched. Very often, children of God fail in the area of watching. They are carefree, but this is not the will of God for our lives. God wants us to be vigilant, so that together with him, we will continue to frustrate the counsel of the wicked. In addition, Nehemiah also did something strategic, as seen in Nehemiah 4:16-17:

16 And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah. 17 They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.”

There was precise division of labor, with everyone knowing his or her responsibility. Every one of them also had their weapon of war ready, even as they engaged in the work of building. To frustrate the counsel of the wicked, we must be sensitive to the Spirit always and be ready to engage in spiritual warfare at all times. Beloved, let us comport ourselves in such a way that our Father in heaven will know that we mean business, and He will not allow the counsel of the wicked against our destiny and our endeavors to stand in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heavens 26 September 2018 Wednesday PRAYER POINT:

Father, strengthen my hands in battles and frustrate the counsel of my enemies.

If the Lord be for us we can never fail,
Nothing ‘gainst His mighty power can e’er prevail.

Chorus

Yet who lives and reigns again,
More than conquerors are we,
More than conquerors are we.

2. In the name of Israel’s God we’ll onward press,
Overcoming sin and all unrighteousness;
Not to us but unto Him the praise shall be,
For salvation and for blood bought victory.

3. Unto Him that overcometh shall be given,
Here to eat of hidden manna sent from Heaven,
Over yonder He the victors palm shall bear,
And a robe of white, and golden crown shall wear.

Megachurch Pastor Says Christians Are Not Required to Obey Old Testament Commands

Megachurch Pastor Says Christians Are Not Required to Obey Old Testament Commands

In a recent commentary for Relevant, Andy Stanley sparked controversy when he said that Christians have no obligation to obey commands found in the Old Testament.

Stanley, a pastor at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia, opened the commentary discussing the controversies over public displays of the Ten Commandments. He said, “But how many times have you seen Christians trying to post the text of the sermon on the mount in a public place? Or the all-encompassing command Jesus gave us? “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” –John 13:34.”

This brought Stanley into the controversial section of his remarks. He said, “Doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it? But if we’re going to create a monument to stand as a testament to our faith, shouldn’t it at least be a monument of something that actually applies to us?”

Stanley then argued that Jesus issued his one command to replace all the Old Testament commands. “Participants in the new covenant (that’s Christians) are not required to obey any of the commandments found in the first part of their Bibles.” He continued, “Participants in the new covenant are expected to obey the single command Jesus issued as part of his new covenant: as I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

Stanley provoked strong…

344 Chinese Pastors Sign a Statement Defending Their Faith amid Violent Persecution

344 Chinese Pastors Sign a Statement Defending Their Faith amid Violent Persecution

In the midst of the Chinese government tightening its controls over religious communities in the communist country, 344 pastors have signed a statement standing up to the regime.

According to the St. Charles Institute, a group of 344 pastors – with the list growing daily – have signed a public joint statement titled “A Declaration of the Christian Faith.”

The statement begins with the pastors asserting that they are both Chinese and Christians and that they have been ordained by God to serve as pastors. The letter reads, “We are a group of Chinese Christians, chosen by the Most High God to be His humble servants, serving as pastors for Christian churches throughout various towns and cities.”

The statement continues, “We believe and are obligated to teach the world that the one true and living Triune God is the Creator of the universe, of the world, and of all people. All men should worship God and not any man or thing. We believe and are obligated to teach the world that all men, from national leaders to beggars and prisoners, have sinned. They will die once and then be judged in righteousness. Apart from the grace and redemption of God, all men would eternally perish. We believe and are obligated to teach the world that the crucified and risen Jesus is the only Head of the global church, the sole Savior of all mankind, and the everlasting Ruler and…

Ex-Potter’s House Volunteer Files Lawsuit Against TD Jakes Ministries Over ‘Assault’ in Church

(Photos: Facebook)Bishop T.D. Jakes (L), senior pastor of The Potter’s House megachurch in Dallas, Texas, and Audrey Stevenson (R)a former volunteer who was physically assaulted and held against her will at the Potter’s House Fort Worth campus on Sunday March 25, 2018.

Audrey Stevenson, a former volunteer at the Potter’s House of Fort Worth, Texas, who was caught on video being handcuffed and physically removed from the church during a dispute with an elder in March, has filed a lawsuit against T.D. Jakes Ministries and several other parties over the incident.

In the lawsuit cited by the Star-Telegram, Stevenson, 22, names Potter’s House church administrator Rhonda Lewis, security guard Brandon Amie, and Deonte Greham, another Potter’s House employee, for alleged false imprisonment and emotional distress. In the suit, Arnie is also accused of assault.

She also accuses both The Potter’s House in Dallas and Fort Worth along with T.D. Jakes Ministries of negligence and negligent hiring.

Stevenson made a video recording of a portion of the controversial encounter with church officials that stemmed from a dispute over whether she was allowed to be on the Fort Worth church’s stage.

Kavanaugh Denies Allegations, Says He Won’t Quit: ‘I Know I’m Telling the Truth’

Kavanaugh Denies Allegations, Says He Won’t Quit: ‘I Know I’m Telling the Truth’

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh Monday denied sexually assaulting anyone – “not in high school, not ever” – and labeled the allegations against him “false.”

Kavanaugh is scheduled to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday along with Christine Blasey Ford, who says he sexually assaulted her in high school when he was 17 and she was 15.

“I want a fair process where I can defend my integrity,” Kavanaugh told Fox News in an interview. “And I know I’m telling the truth. I know my life-long record, and I’m not going to let false accusations drive me out of this process. I have faith in God, and I have faith in the fairness of the American people. America’s about fairness and hearing from both sides. And I didn’t do this or anything resembling this. This is wrong.”

Pushing back against allegations he was involved in sexually charged parties, Kavanaugh said he was a virgin.

“I did not have sexual intercourse or anything close to sexual intercourse in high school or for many years thereafter,” he said.

Kavanaugh said he’s not “questioning” and has “not questioned that perhaps Dr. Ford at some point in her life was sexually assaulted by someone in some place.” Kavanaugh, though, says it was not him.

“I have never sexually assaulted anyone, not in high school, not ever,” he said….

Jeremy Corbyn backs new ‘Bible-inspired’ ten commandments for Labour

As the Labour faithful gather in Liverpool this week and discuss investment, ownership and a People’s Vote, the Christian faithful among the left have accompanied them with a church service and a campaign encouraging members to act kindly towards each other, suggesting 10 ways to prevent the party being ‘the nasty party’.

Christians on the Left say their 10 commandments are ‘tongue-in cheek’ but also echo verses from the Bible.

They want to see party members acting honorably online and to love the local party branch, or constituency Labour party.

On Sunday, Jeremy Corbyn attended a church service at St James in the City church in Liverpool, hosted by Christians on the Left and the Christian food bank charity the Trussel Trust, where the main theme was unity.

The party leader also took a photo with the Christians on the Left campaign frame and tweeted that the service was: “Uplifting, positive, and beautiful service with Christians on the Left this morning, and I’m proud to endorse their #LoveYourCLP campaign. We must never pass by on the other side when people in our communities are in need.”

Senator Ted Cruz Bullied Out of D.C. Restaurant by Protestors

Senator Ted Cruz Bullied Out of D.C. Restaurant by Protestors

Protestors forced Sen. Ted Cruz out of a Washington restaurant Monday, questioning the senator on his vote for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh has been accused of sexual misconduct. One woman, Christine Blasey Ford, says he assaulted her in the 1980s when she and Kavanaugh were in high school. Another woman, Deborah Ramirez, says Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a party during their freshman year at Yale.

Cruz had said earlier this year that he supported the nominee, saying that Kavanaugh “is one of the most respected federal judges in the country, and I look forward to supporting his nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States.”

Criticism of that support came Monday night when Cruz and his wife, Heidi, were walking to their table at Fiola, an Italian restaurant.

“There are now three people who have come forward and who have said that Brett Kavanaugh has attacked them,” a woman told the senator. “I know that you’re close friends with him. Did you talk to him about that? Did you talk to him about his position?”

Cruz was also told: “Senator, I have a right to know what your position is on Brett Kavanaugh.”

Cruz responded, “God bless you, ma’am.”

Protestors then gathered around the senator’s table, chanting, “We believe survivors,” until Cruz and his wife left. According to reports, the protestors cheered as…

National Assn. of Evangelicals Slams US Genocide of Native Americans, Racist Policies in Guide Update

(Photo: Reuters/Jonathan Ernst)A pair of young Native American dancers stand together during the opening “grand entry” to start the Oglala Nation Pow Wow and Rodeo in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, August 4, 2006. The annual festival is a bright spot for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, which struggles with high unemployment and problems with substance abuse and gangs and is one of the poorest communities in the United States.

The National Association of Evangelicals says the U.S. government has much to apologize for, such as the “genocide against Native Americans” and “the exploitation of immigrants and the descendants of slaves,” in its updated public policy guide.

“The foundational truth in ‘For the Health of the Nation’ is that all people are made in the image of God. Each principle in the document flows from that truth. Our hope is that this guide will help those of shared faith work together to bless others in the public square,” NAE President Leith Anderson said in a statement on Monday.

While the original “For the Health of the Nation” guide was adopted in 2004, a new revised version was adopted earlier this year, and published on Monday, to address the “shifting American context.”

The guide focuses on eight principles of Christian political engagement, starting…

Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence: My Identity Is in Christ, Not Football

Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence: My Identity Is in Christ, Not Football

Clemson’s new starting quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, may appear he’d be better suited for the bright lights and big city atmosphere of Los Angeles, but his coaches say he’s actually the opposite.

“He is just laid back,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said of the player who is known for his long blonde hair, according to TheClemsonInsider.com. “He does not really ask or want anything. He just comes to work. That’s it.”

Lawrence, a 6-foot-5 true freshman for the No 3 and undefeated Tigers (4-0), also is someone who is open about his Christian faith. Lawrence was the top-rated high school quarterback in the 2018 class according to Rivals.com, but has kept football in perspective.

“Football is important to me, obviously, but it is not my life,” he said. “It is not like the biggest thing in my life. My faith is. That just comes from kind of knowing who I am outside of that. I just know, no matter how big the situation is, it is not really going to define me.”

Lawrence was named the team’s starter Monday after coming off the bench to throw four touchdown passes in Clemson’s 49-21 win over Georgia Tech.

“He really played well,” Swinney said. “He was very poised. The game has slowed down for him, and he’s making good decisions. … He made some beautiful throws … and there’s just some technical things to clean up.”

Football,…
