Men know the power of truth, and truth is that which sets men free. Jesus said, “I am the truth.”

Topic: The Grace of Giving [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland, Monday May 7, 2018]

Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. – 2 Corinthians 8:7

How do you give to the Lord?

Do you just drop some money in the plate at church without much thought? Or do you just write a check to God at the first of every month and pay Him like you pay all your other bills?

You need to think about that because how you give is a matter of deep concern to God. He’s particular about how offerings are given. He won’t receive just any old thing however you feel like giving it.

In Malachi, for example, God refused to receive Israel’s offerings. They were bringing Him their defective animals, their blind calves and the injured ones they couldn’t do anything else with—and God said it offended Him. He told them, “You don’t have any reverence or honor for Me, and I’m not going to accept your offering.”

That kind of thing didn’t die out after the book of Malachi. Many today don’t have any reverence for God at offering time. People wait for the preacher to beat them over the head until they feel so guilty they have to reach down in their pocketbooks and get some money out.

But I want you to know, that’s offensive to God. In fact, He spoke directly to a friend of mine about it. The statement He made to her so impressed me, I wrote it down word for word.

It grieves Me when the Church takes offerings, He told her. I said to worship Me. Don’t take from the people, but let them bring their gifts and worship Me. Then they will see the fruits of their giving.

If you and I want God to be pleased with our offerings, we’re going to have to do what the Apostle Paul wrote about in 2 Corinthians 8:7. We’re going to have to learn to “excel in this grace of giving” (New International Version). We’re going to have to quit being casual about it and to learn to give with faith and reverence in worship.

Next time the offering plate is passed, don’t just drop your gift carelessly in the plate. Get serious. Determine to obey God. Worship Him with your money and be thankful. He’ll do more than simply receive it, He’ll open the windows of blessing for you.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Lygon Stevens loved to climb mountains with her brother Nick. They were experienced climbers and both had summited Mt. McKinley (Denali), the highest point in North America. Then, in January 2008, they were swept off a Colorado mountain by an avalanche, injuring Nick and killing twenty-year-old Lygon. When Nick later discovered his sister’s journal in one of her satchels, he was deeply comforted by its contents. It was filled with reflections, prayers, and praise to God as seen in this entry: “I am a work of art, signed by God. But He’s not done; in fact, He has just begun. . . . I have on me the fingerprint of God. Never will there ever be another person like me. . . . I have a job to do in this life that no other can do.”

Although Lygon is no longer physically present on earth, through the legacy of her life and her journal she inspires and challenges those she left behind.

Because we are made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26), each person is a “work of art, signed by God.” As the apostle Paul says, “We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).

Praise God that He uses each of us, in His own time and way, to help others.

Prayer: How would You like to use me, Lord? I am open and willing.

Each person is a unique expression of God’s loving design.

Insight:

Genesis 1:26–27 says we were created in God’s image. Similarly, Genesis 5:1 and James 3:9 tell us we were made in His “likeness.” What does it mean to be made in God’s image? We were created with characteristics that set us apart from other creatures. We have the capacity to reason, to make moral choices, and to be in relationship with others. We also have the capacity to do good works, and Jesus set the precedent: He “went around doing good” (Acts 10:38). Ephesians 2:10 tells us we were not only created “to do good works” but “God prepared in advance” the good works we would do. Our task is to stay near to God (Hebrews 10:22), be alert for opportunities, and rely on the Spirit for strength and help. Alyson Kieda

Topic: Releasing Your Past To Access Your Future [Seeds of Destiny Monday May 7, 2018]

Scripture: Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. Philippians 3:13.

Thought For The Day: You cannot walk backwards into tomorrow.

Previously, we established that there are destiny capsules a person needs in order to have a healthy and buoyant destiny. Just as capsules boost one’s health in the physical, there are also spiritual destiny capsules that are needed for destiny fulfilment. When these capsules are taken, destiny fulfilment is guaranteed.

Now, one of these destiny capsules is the release of the past. If you cannot release the negative past, then you cannot access the positive future.

Beloved, dragging yesterday into today makes arrival in tomorrow impossible. This means, until you forgive and forget the errors, mistakes, missed opportunities, hurts, pains of the past, you cannot access your future. You must forfeit and forgo both the opportunities and failures of the past because you cannot hold on to the past and lay hold of the future at the same time. You cannot walk backwards into tomorrow.

The reason why you failed before is so you can rise and start again. You might have missed an opportunity in life; the good news is several other opportunities are coming your way. Someone might have hurt you but do not be bitter. The hurt is to make you better.

Beloved, God can turn things around for you and against the devil if only you can decide to let the past go. Receive the grace to drop the past so you can reach where God wants you to reach in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: You cannot walk backwards into tomorrow.

Assignments:
1. Deliberately take a decision to forgive, forget and leave your past behind.
2. Decide to conceive a solid vision for your future.

Prayer: O Lord, I receive the grace to forget my past. Give me a solid vision for the future, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

MESSAGE:

When Jesus comes back to the earth, He will stand in the clouds of heaven and call to His own. When Jesus calls to His own, it is only those who are in His image that will hear His call. To be in His image means to have His Spirit within you, which is the Holy Spirit. Only those that are in the image of Christ will make Heaven because Romans 9:8 says that if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. The image of Christ also means the character of Christ. And as a child of God, do you behave like Christ? Are you quarrelsome and disobedient? Are you kind and gentle? Do you tell your friends and even stranger about Christ?
The kind of life you live will determine in whose abode you will end up. If you live a good life by the help of The Holy Spirit, you will end up with the Lord Jesus Christ. But if you live a life of sin, and follow the things of the world, you will end up with the devil. Every man’s final destination will be determined by whose image he/she is.

Prayer Point: Lord Jesus Christ, please let your image be formed fully in me and help me to be like You

Topic: Why Worry? [DCLM Daily Manna Monday May 7, 2018]

Text: Philippians 4:4-8 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” (Philippians 4:6).

MESSAGE:

A man of God had a ministerial assignment in another city and had travel by air. A little after take off, the plane started making some disturbing noise. Soon, the announcement came that the plane was facing some severe weather challenges. The passengers expectedly began to panic as boxes, loads and hand luggage started falling from the cabin. But the man of God was reportedly calm throughout the experience. He did not display any iota of panic. As the turbulence persisted, the man of God’s seatmate asked him why he was not moved like everyone else. He quietly answered “Oh I had been talking to my Father in heaven about the situation. He has lovingly assured me that we would soon land safely.” And truly, soon after, the plane landed safely.

In the passage, Paul the apostle wrote from prison to admonish the Philippian believers on behavioral patterns that could stand them in better stead spiritually. “Be careful for nothing” was not an invitation to meet legitimate and genuine concerns or on matters relating to the material. It was that they should possess an unflagging confidence in God in whatever situation.

Believers should take all worrisome situations to God in prayer. After prayer, thanksgiving for the answer together with the witness of the abiding Spirit of God should keep us calm in trying moments.

While enjoying the peace of God, which the world cannot have, we must occupy our minds with the right and gracious thought. The nobility of our thoughts and meditation will endear us to our heavenly Father. To be free from anxiety, we must cultivate the attitude of absolute reliance and trust in God. Then will we enjoy the peace of God which passes all understanding. At no time must we succumb to sorrow and despair, even in the face of the challenges of life.

Thought For The Day: Confidence in God destroys anxiety and worry.

MESSAGE:

Today, we will be concluding our reflection on revival by considering the multiple blessings that it brings. After a people have sincerely repented of their sins, turned from their evil ways to the way of righteousness and humbled themselves in prayer, God always responds by showing mercy and sending revival to them. Revival does not only mean the salvation of souls; there are certain other blessings that always accompany it also. When revival comes, not only will people be converted to Christ, the whole quality of life in the immediate community, surrounding environment or even the nation at large will be improved. As a result of revival, ungodly and unfriendly cultural practices are abandoned and idolatrous cultural practices are forsaken. I have often shared this testimony that before the revival of our church at the site of the Redemption Camp on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, it used to be thee den of armed robbers, members of the occult and dangerous animals. The neighboring communities were largely traditionalist and exposed to little or no Christian influence. The revival that started when we arrived at this site immediately turned the Redemption Camp to a place of refuge for our immediate neighbors and travelers on the expressway. By the grace of God, the Redemption Camp has now gained worldwide recognition as a place of refuge to all nations of the world. When revival comes, heaven comes down to earth and supernatural things begin to happen among men.

Brethren, the anger of the Lord pending against unrepentant sinners is not endurable (Psalm 85:4-6, Hebrew 10:31). Only a fool will challenge God to a fight or wait for Him to execute His judgment (Isaiah 45:9). Only revival can restore genuine joy of salvation that material things of life cannot produce (Revelation 3:17-18). Revival also causes recognition of the need to effect character change for good, a rejection of one’s sinful lifestyle, and a renewed sense of responsibility. A revived soul immediately feels the need to share his or her testimony with others who are still living in sin and are desperately in need of the saving power of the gospel, a truly revived person begins to hunger and thirst for the increased knowledge of God’s word and for fellowship with God in holiness and righteousness (Psalm 42:1-2). True revival is contagious. The new nature of holiness, peace and joy that revival brings spreads from individuals to family, the Church of God, the community and the nation at large. This automatically leads to a great increase in soul-winning, reduced criminal activities, a peaceful society, abolition of ungodly laws, promotion of ideas that lead to real growth and sustained development. True revival turns the average human society to a model of heaven on earth.

Prayer Point: Father, please pour out Your revival on every society that has turned its back on You.
