Basic Scriptures: Isaiah 30:18-22; Proverbs 4:20-23

There are many voices in the world today, and if you want to fulfill your destiny and enjoy God’s best, you must learn to identify and follow God’s voice. Notice the words in our second scripture, “….INCLINE your ear to my sayings.” The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word, “INCLINE” as: “To bend the head or body forward: to bow, to lean, tend or become drawn toward an opinion or course of conduct.” No Matter What life Throws At You, You Must Bend Or Determine to Lean Towards His saying- The Word!

In the remaining days of this year, if you are going to hear God clearly, you will have to discipline your self to pay attention AND BEND towards WHAT IS WRITTEN IN THE WORD- THE BIBLE. You can’t INCLINE (lean or bend) your ears to the newspapers and expect to hear God’s voice! You can’t INCLINE (lean or bend) your ears to the doctor’s report and expect to hear God’s voice! If you are trusting God for healing, etc. then you need to INCLINE (lean or bend) your ear to the voice of healing in the WORD.

INCLINE TO THE WORD AND DECLINE other EVIDENCE of circumstances! What you desire and trust God for is what you should INCLINE your ear unto. REJECT AND DECLINE ANY OTHER VOICE OR REPORT- no matter what is happening! Oh! His words are full of faith, hope and light. Refuse Discouragement And Refuse To Be Distracted And Tempted Into Paying Attention To Other Voices No Matter How Loud They Seem. Yes! They Will Pass Away! The Only Voice Or Thing that Will Never Pass Away Is The Word of God!

See Matt 24: 35: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Oh, I am excited! Kick the devil in the mouth and tell him that you are going to HOLD ON to GOD AND HIS WORD because all satanic attacks/ battles will PASS AWAY – they are temporary! After they pass away, you will still be standing to sing your victory song! INCLINE to the WORD DECLINE (refuse) others! Pray now!

I want to ask you a question: Do you love yourself?

Take a minute to think about it. It’s an important question because your answer will determine how much love you are able to give to others. You see, if you don’t love yourself in a healthy, balanced way, then you won’t be able to spread the love of God to those around you because you can’t give away something you don’t have to begin with.

Now, I’m not talking about a selfish, self-centered kind of love for yourself that is arrogant and puffed up. That is not what I’m saying. There is a balanced way to develop a godly appreciation for who you are and the abilities God has given you.

I talk about this a lot because I think one of the biggest problems we have today is how we feel about ourselves. It seems many people have a broken record playing in their head that keeps repeating, What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with me?

One reason for this is, we compare ourselves to other people and wonder why we can’t look or act like they do. Or we believe that God is mad at us for some reason…and then fall into the trap of thinking we need to try harder to measure up.

Don’t Be Misled
The devil wants us to feel bad about ourselves. He tries to mess with our thinking so we are always wondering why something is wrong with us. And many times we make the mistake of getting mad at ourselves because of it.

But God’s Word says that those who are in Christ have been made righteous. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (AMPC) says, For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become…the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

I like the Amplified Classic version of this verse because it helps us understand the meaning of righteousness. As the verse says, it means that in Christ, we are as we ought to be. God created us. He approves and accepts us by His love and goodness.

Get Completely in God’s Will
As soon as you accept Christ, His love is poured into your heart. In fact, He loved you before you ever accepted Him as your Savior.

I really want you to get this because the fact that God loves you is one of the most important truths you need to know. Loving God and then yourself in a healthy, balanced way is the first step toward fulfilling your destiny and becoming a vessel of God’s love so you can spread His love to others. It’s also the key to having everything Jesus died for you to have, like His righteousness, peace and joy.

I love what Romans 14:17 (AMPC) says, [After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

That verse says the kingdom of God is not food or drink. I like to say that God is not about stuff. And He wants to give us something much more important—righteousness, peace and joy.

Are You Living in God’s Kingdom?
How much joy do you have? It’s pretty much impossible to have joy if you don’t know God loves you as you are and have peace with yourself. If you lack joy, maybe it’s because of the way you see yourself. Do you enjoy spending time with yourself? Some people get overly involved in activities because they can’t stand to be alone. And some folks are angry with themselves, so they avoid their own presence.

A good place to start growing in the area of balanced, godly self-love that includes a healthy attitude about yourself is by meditating on Ephesians 1:4-5 (NLT): Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

Remember that God loves you unconditionally. He created your temperament, your talents, and all your other traits. But we all have specific areas we can grow in and things to work on. That’s okay. The Holy Spirit is willing and able to help you grow in areas of weakness. Like I often say, “I may not be where I want to be, but thank God I’m not where I used to be!”

Wherever you are in your relationship with God, know that He has singled you out and chosen you to be His child. He is pleased with how He made you and His love surrounds you. You are the apple of His eye.

MESSAGE:

As a bonafide member of the Kingdom of God, you must be a proof of His power to save. Matthew 1:21 says that Jesus shall save His people from sin. 1 John 1:7 says His blood cleanses us from all sins. If the power to save was demonstrated in the life of anybody at all, it was in the life of Paul. He could say this because he realised how far he had gone before Jesus saved him. What about your life? Can you say that you have observed changes in your life from the time that you received the Lord Jesus Christ? Where are the evidences of a changed life? Let your life proof that God can transform lives.

The transformation will be brought about by the power of the Holy Spirit. Power simply means the ability to work. Through the Holy Spirit, you can live a life pleasing and acceptable unto God, and through you, the Spirit of God can work miracles that will bring others to the Kingdom of God. Are you ready for God to use you in these last days? Draw closer to the Holy Spirit like never before.

Action Point: Win at least one soul to the Lord Jesus Christ today.

Text: 2 Chronicles 16:7-14 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians” (2 Chronicles 16:12).

MESSAGE:

Attitude is the key with which to unlock either the door of success or failure. It is one of the fundamental issues on the way to success as it can make or mar one’s chances of success. Whereas a positive attitude attracts God’s pleasure, a negative attitude courts His displeasure.

King Asa had trusted in God when threatened by the massive force that came up from the Ethiopians and had success story. But with regard to the threat that came from Baasha, he lost faith in God’s help and instead, trusted in his wealth to buy help from the Syrians. Because of this loss of faith in God, the word of God came to him through Hanani that he would have wars the rest of his life. Rather than being penitent, he became angry and imprisoned the prophet. King Asa further manifested lack of trust in God by consulting physicians for healing. This terrible attitude towards God severed the once robust relationship that earned him victories.

There is the need to ponder over our relationship with God. When a backslider refuses to hear the truth, he develops a hardened heart and retaliates against those who bring the message of God to him. It was not wrong to seek for physicians but when healing power was available from God, he should have given it preference. For present-day saints, we must search our hearts and ask: “Am I still in close relationship with God?” If the answer is not in the affirmative, then we must retrace our steps. God must always occupy the first place in our hearts at all times.

Topic: Sit Down And Rest In Him [TREM’s Devotional Saturday April 7, 2018]

“And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.” – 1 Samuel 23:14 KJV

According to the scriptures, Saul wanted to stop David, but he failed woefully. You see, when God does it, you become unstoppable. He takes the responsibility of fighting on your behalf. No wonder He said: “Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked”. (Psalm 91:8 KJV)

In other words, just sit down and rest in Him. You will see what God will do to those who said you will not survive. Those who said you will never marry, they will see you marry. They will bite their fingers. They said you will never make it in life until they say so. Wrong! They will be disappointed. It is a dangerous thing to trifle with a child of God. Whosoever touches you has touched God. You are the apple of his eyes. Just like the pupils of your eyes are always protected when somebody wants to poke it; that is the way God protects you. It is dangerous to trifle with God.

Beloved, you are so expensive. You are an expensive cargo! You are precious in the sight of God. You are so precious! You have been chosen from amongst the crowd. God Himself said He has chosen you. You didn’t choose yourself. He chose you and if He chose you, He has a plan for your life.

Saul was pursuing David from cave to cave. You see, that is what jealousy does. You may even be carrying big things in your hands but you will be running after little things. Can you imagine Saul a king, running after a little boy and facing humiliation? Your enemies will be humiliated. The dreams they have against you will never come to pass. I bless you today!

Thought For The Day: The agreement to disobey God is the decision to abort destiny.

The Scriptures make it abundantly clear that there are deadly enemies of destiny. These are enemies that cripple one from fulfilling destiny and God’s purpose for one’s life. It is critical to identify these enemies in order to guide against their operations in one’s life.

Now, one of these deadly enemies of destiny is a lifestyle of disobedience.
It is important to know that it was a lifestyle of disobedience that dislocated the destiny of Adam and Eve; they disobeyed God and their destinies were aborted. This means, the agreement to disobey God is the decision to abort destiny.

Now, I would like you to take note of the following:
i) Disobedience to God equals disconnection from destiny

Adam and Eve were sent from the Garden of Eden because of disobedience.

ii) Disobedience to God equals distance from God
Disobedience to God widens a person’s distance from God. And you know that distance from God equals nearness to disaster.

iii) Rebellion to God provokes rebellion from the earth
Everything rebels against the man who rebels against God. Thorns and thistles sprang forth from the earth as a result of the disobedience of Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:18).

Beloved, are there areas in your life where you have disobeyed God? Ask Him to forgive you and make up your mind to obey Him from today.

Remember this: The agreement to disobey God is the decision to abort destiny.

Assignments:
1. Consciously ask God for forgiveness if there is any area of disobedience in your life.
2. Make up your mind to live a lifestyle of obedience henceforth.

Prayer: O LORD, I ask for forgiveness in any area I have disobeyed You. Give me the grace to obey You promptly and totally, LORD, in Jesus’ Name.

Topic: Fair Play [Our Daily Bread 7 Saturday April, 2018]

Read: Titus 2:7–8, 11–14 Bible in a Year: 1 Samuel 7–9; Luke 9:18–36

In everything set them an example by doing what is good. Titus 2:7

When Singaporean runner Ashley Liew found himself at the head of the pack during a marathon at the Southeast Asian Games, he knew something was wrong. He quickly realized that the lead runners had taken a wrong turn and were now behind. Ashley could have taken advantage of their mistake, but a strong sense of sportsmanship told him it would not be a genuine victory. He wanted to win because he was faster—not because those ahead of him had made a mistake. Acting on his convictions, he slowed down to let them catch up.

In the end, Ashley lost the race and missed out on a medal. But he won the hearts of his countrymen—and an international award for his act of fair play. It spoke well of his faith as a Christian, and must have prompted some to ask, “What made him do that?”

Ashley’s act challenges me to share my faith through my actions. Little acts of thoughtfulness, kindness, or forgiveness can glorify God. As Paul put it simply, “Show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned” (Titus 2:7–8).

Our positive actions toward others can show the world that we are able to live differently because of the Holy Spirit’s work in us. He will give us the grace to reject ungodliness and wrong passions, and to live upright lives that point people to God (vv. 11–12).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, may our behavior today cause others to ask us why we are different. We ask that we follow Your Holy Spirit’s leading as we explain to them the hope that is in us.

Live so that others will want to know Jesus.

Insight:
In our passage today, Paul writes to Titus, whom he left on the island of Crete to guide the new churches they had planted there. The citizens of Crete had earned an especially bad reputation, and Paul saw fit to remind Titus of that (see Titus 1:12–13). The need for diligence in their service to the believers there was especially vital.

As Paul gave Titus directions about wise living, he highlighted God’s grace. We may tend to think of grace as giving us freedom—and it does. But God’s grace, through the work of the Holy Spirit, also instills a holy discipline in us. “It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives” (2:12). Or, as Paul phrased it in Galatians, “The Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires” (5:17 nlt).

The “secret” to living the Christian life isn’t to stress over not sinning; it’s to focus on the work of God’s grace in us. Tim Gustafson

And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. – Luke 24:1-3

Truly, it’s time for us to stop looking for the living among the dead. It’s time for us to stop wandering around in the cemetery of sin, sickness and failure and to step into resurrection life!

As a resurrected creature, you’re no accident going somewhere to happen. Your life isn’t just a loose web of events and circumstances. God has specific plans for you.

Maybe He intends for you to have the greatest healing ministry of this century. Or perhaps He wants to turn you into a tremendous preacher. Maybe He has a revelation prepared for you that will enable you to bless the whole world. But you’ll never know what He has in store for you until you put your attention on Him.

That’s why the devil works hard to keep you focusing on the problems of life. That’s why he tries to keep your attention turned away from the living Word of God. He doesn’t want you to know you’re full of the resurrection life of Jesus. In fact, the prospect of it terrifies him.

Why? Because once you truly understand that you have the life of God inside you, you’ll begin to act just like Jesus did. You’ll lay hands on the sick and they’ll recover. You’ll cast out demons. You’ll preach the gospel to every creature.

In short, you’ll be just what God intended you to be. You’ll be the Body of Christ on the earth.

Don’t let Satan bind you with the grave clothes of yesterday’s sin and defeat. You’re not dead anymore. You’ve been raised with Jesus. Come out from the tombs and start living resurrection life!
