Queen sends condolences to family of evangelist Billy Graham

The preacher met the Queen while visiting the UK during his missionary work, and she awarded him an honorary knighthood in 2001.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman confirmed the Queen will be sending a private message of condolence to Graham’s family, including his son and fellow evangelist Franklin Graham.

The Archbishop of Canterbury said Graham was an example to Christians worldwide and had “few equals”.

Graham, who had the ear of presidents and monarchs and reputedly preached to the most people in live sermons in history, died aged 99 at his home in North Carolina on Wednesday.

He spoke to thousands at arenas in the UK during his tours, often referred to as crusades, in the decades following his first visit in 1946.

The Royal Albert Hall said he appeared there on 14 occasions between 1954 and 2004, including sold-out crusades in the 1960s.

In 1996, after he stopped travelling because of Parkinson’s disease, an estimated 2.5 billion people around the world watched his first “televangelist” show, hosted by Sir Cliff Richard.

Graham met the Queen several times, including in 1984 when he preached at Sandringham Parish Church.

The Most Revd Justin Welby said the church owed Graham an “immeasurable” debt.

He said: “Dr Billy Graham stood as an exemplar to generation upon generation of modern Christians.

“When it comes to a living and lasting influence upon the worldwide church he can have few equals: for he introduced person after person to Jesus Christ.

Large churches are obviously different than small churches, but what are those specific differences as it relates to church revitalization? Today, we cover that and more.

I just took a pastorate at a larger church than I’ve ever pastored. I’ve led revitalization at a few smaller churches (mostly under 250) in the past and am now at a church in Central Florida running 450+. What differences in revitalization might I run into in a church this size as compared to my previous churches?

    Hackers Hijack Tesla System To Mine Cryptocurrency

    Electric vehicle maker Tesla is the latest victim of a new type of cyber attack known as cryptojacking. According to researchers, hackers have hijacked the automaker’s cloud system and using the stolen computing power to illegally mine cryptocurrency.

    According to cloud monitoring and defense firm RedLock, some of the automaker’s Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure was compromised with mining malware in a far-reaching and well-hidden cryptojacking campaign. After disclosing their findings last month, the company quickly took action to decontaminate their cloud platform within a day.

    The automaker’s own investigation revealed that the exposure was minimal. They also did not see any initial impact on customer data protection or the safety and security of its vehicles.

    “We addressed this vulnerability within hours of learning about it,” a spokesperson from the company said. “The impact seems to be limited to internally-used engineering test cars only, and our initial investigation found no indication that customer privacy or vehicle safety or security was compromised in any way.”

    But while the effects of the hijacking weren’t too concerning, it does highlight ways in which cryptojacking can pose a broad security threat, in addition to racking up the electric bill.
