Recently, the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta airport experienced a massive power outage that caused the cancellation of hundreds of flights. Many people were stranded in the airport. And that’s when Chick-fil-A came to the rescue.
Chick-fil-A restaurants are normally closed on Sundays, consistent with their founder’s Christian faith, as well as to give employees a day of rest, but the Atlanta Chick-fil-A made an exception.
Atlanta’s mayor, Kasim Reed, reportedly called Chick-fil-A on Sunday, asking for help. Chick-fil-A managers didn’t hesitate, but jumped into action.
“It has been a very difficult day for thousands of travelers. And while Chick-fil-A is always closed on Sunday, our restaurants open occasionally to serve communities in need. We do not make a profit but do what we can to offer comfort to people experiencing hardship,” said Chick-fil-A spokeswoman Amanda Hanna.
The city of Atlanta also opened the Georgia International Convention Center so that people could have a place to stay, reports The Washington Examiner.
This isn’t the first time Chick-fil-A has opened on Sunday to meet a need. After the terrorist attack on Pulse nightclub in Orlando last year, the restaurant also opened on Sunday to provide free food to those donating blood.

Two years after his pregnant wife Amanda was fatally shot during a home invasion on Nov. 10, 2015, Indiana Pastor Davey Blackburn remarried over the weekend in a “worshipful” wedding ceremony.
“Just finished the last wedding of 2017 and it was arguably the most worshipful one as well. If you know anything about @daveyblackburn‘s story you know how fully good the Lord has been to bring him to this point, worshipping next to his new bride in a room full of people who have cried for and prayed over their story countless times. What a humbling way to finish off my year of weddings- this job is such an honor, you guys,” wrote Christian wedding photographer Anna Duncan, who recorded the wedding for Blackburn and his new wife, Kristi.
Blackburn also proclaimed his wedding on Instagram, quoting Isaiah 43:19.
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert,” he noted.

Keller wrote in the New Yorker that pollsters have re-identified the term as they’ve highlighted a specific voting bloc, with 80 per cent of this group voting for Trump and a similar percentage for Roy Moore last week.
He added: “When they survey people, there is no discussion of any theological beliefs, or other criteria.
“The great majority of them simply ask people, ‘Would you describe yourself as a born-again or evangelical Christian?’ And those who answer ‘yes’ are counted.”
The Cambridge English Dictionary defines the word as: “Belonging to one of the Protestant Churches or Christian groups that believe the teaching of the Bible and persuading other people to join them to be extremely important”.
However, Keller regrets that ‘evangelical’ no longer refers to theological beliefs regarding the “the necessity of conversion”.
He explained that the political Evangelicals, the “big-E Evangelicals”, treat evangelicalism “as the civil or folk religion accepted by default as part of one’s social and political identity”.
He concluded to suggest genuine evangelicals may abandon the name in the future for something else, “yet be more committed to its theology and historic impulses than ever”.

Brian Simmonds was served with the legal notice on 9th December, informing him and his pet cat to leave by 23rd December.
According to the Diocese of Chichester, the situation arose despite many offers of accommodation, financial support and assistance from the local church, individuals and other agencies.
It said Simmonds refused all efforts to help and has been “moved on” by the authorities from other locations in Sussex on a number of occasions.
“For the sake of his health, safety, and wellbeing and in order for him to receive care and support, the parish have been left with no alternative but to resort to a legal process for him to leave the churchyard where he is currently living in a tent in freezing conditions,” it added.
The church warned Simmons in September that legal action would be taken if he did not move.
The church’s rector, Rev Kathryn Windslow, told the West County Sussex Times that Simmonds has made it uncomfortable for those who want to visit their relative’s grave around Christmas time.
She said: “[He’s] trespassing by pitching his tent in the churchyard and continuing to live in the tent.
“He cannot continue to disturb the graves around him. He has upset many people in the community by his actions. His tent cannot remain on consecrated ground.”
The diocese said it is hoped that there will be no need for further action in the New Year.

The U.S. Senate has passed a sweeping tax reform bill, albeit by a small margin and along party lines.
According to Townhall.com, the new bill will cut taxes for more than 80 percent of Americans and will raise taxes on a small percentage of those in top income brackets.
The House already approved the tax bill, so its passing in the Senate in a 51-48 vote is a major victory for Republicans and for President Trump.
Every Republican senator besides John McCain (R-AZ), who is currently battling cancer, voted yes on the bill, while every Democrat voted no.
President Trump’s administration has been trying for some months to get a major piece of legislation passed, and it looks as though in the new tax bill Republicans may have what they have been hoping for.
The bill not only legislates reforms to the tax code, it also repeals the individual mandate tax, which was an unpopular part of Obamacare that required all Americans to have health insurance or pay a penalty.
The bill also paves the way for oil drilling in parts of Alaska.
The tax reform legislation has been welcomed as a victory not only for Republicans, but for the middle class.

Pope Francis turned 81-years-old last Sunday, Dec. 17 and he celebrated the milestone with a pizza party. The pontiff shared several 13-foot long pizzas among a group of kids the Vatican invited from a nearby pediatric clinic and it was a birthday like no other.
Thousands of children gathered at St. Peter’s Square to wish the Pope a happy birthday. The pontiff waved at the crowd from his window and kept mouthing, “Thanks a lot.” Later, he joined his well-wishers for the Angelus before partaking on the birthday feast.
The kids, along with some adults, shared slices from a rectangular pizza stretched 13-feet long. The pizza had a single white candle in the middle and photos from the party showed the Pope blowing his birthday candle. The pontiff also had a birthday cake with his image drawn by Italian street artist Mauro Pallotta.
The Pope apparently encouraged the kids to eat their pizza as it is good food. His love for the Italian dish is quite well-known.
“The only thing I would like is to go out one day, without being recognized, and go to a pizzeria for a pizza,” Pope Francis once said in an interview….

Princess Charlotte, the 2-year-old daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will finally attend school for the first time. Her parents enrolled her at the Willcocks Nursery in London, where she’ll be a full-time student come January, as Kensington Palace announced.
The school is located within the Holy Trinity church in Kensington, which is a short drive from the princess’ home. Built in the 1960s, Willcocks Nursery is known for its traditional curriculum.
The students learn prayers and church hymns alongside standard pre-school activities like painting and arts, music, dance, story time, poetry and literacy. Classes usually last for three hours a day, with one teacher handling eight students at most at a time.
“We are delighted that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen the Willcocks nursery school for Princess Charlotte,” a school spokesperson said. “We look forward to welcoming Charlotte to our nursery in January.”
Ofsted rated Willcocks, which has an all-female staff, as an outstanding and exceptional British school. Diana Willcocks founded the institution and Lavinia Taylor is the current headteacher. Fees at Willcocks run close to $4073 or £3,050 per term.
Palace insiders revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton chose the nursery because the school’s staff impressed the royals. They believe it is the ideal place for Princess Charlotte to take her first formal steps to learning.
