US, Saudi Arabia Reportedly Still Pushing ‘Peace Plan’ to Create Palestinian State .

Jerusalem (Wikimedia Commons )

Many had assumed that President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel would make a peace agreement between the Palestinians and Israelis less likely, but it actually appears to be accelerating things.

For a long time, Trump has referred to a comprehensive peace treaty in the Middle East as “the ultimate deal,” and he seems absolutely determined to get something done. The key was going to be getting the Saudis on his side, and this appears to have…

Evangelicals Known for Power-Lust, Racism, Arrogance, Misogyny, Beth Moore Says; Is the Label Worth Fighting For?

REUTERS/Carlo AllegriDonald Trump attends a church service.

The reputation of evangelicalism has been overtaken by evil and is currently full of misogyny, “nauseating” lust for power, “appalling” racism, and “terrifying” arrogance, says Beth Moore.

A “fight” to reclaim gospel-centered evangelicalism is a fight worth having, Moore says, as other evangelical leaders are abandoning the evangelical label.

The popular speaker and teacher took to Twitter Monday to voice her intent to battle for the heart and soul of the evangelical Christian faith amid public chatter from prominent thinkers about whether evangelicalism and even the term “evangelical” can and should be salvaged. This heated conversation is occurring in light of the actions of some evangelicals in a bitterly divided culture and polarized political climate centering on President Donald Trump and Alabama Senate candidate Judge Roy Moore.

Iranian Christian converts appealing sentence for ‘living a Christian life’

Yousef Nadarkhani, Mohammadreza Omidi, Yasser Mossayebzadeh and Saheb Fadaie were all charged with propagating house churches and promoting “Zionist Christianity”.

Niko Cordman from Middle East Concern told Premier the law in the country that states an Iranian-born Muslim cannot convert, means they are being unfairly treated.

Speaking during Premier’s News Hour, Cordman said: “These men have not committed any crime, except basically living a Christian life and practicing the right to freedom of religion.

“That’s the only reason they’re being held accountable and taken to court.”

Mr Nadarkhani and Mr Omidi have also been sentenced to two years’ exile – Mr Nadarkhani in Nik Shahr and Mr Omidi in Borazjan – locations in the south of the country, which is far away from their families in Rasht.

As they were taking communion at the time of their arrest, on 13th May 2016, Mr Mossayebzadeh, Mr Fadaie and Mr Omidi faced separate charges of consumption of alcohol.

On 10th September 2016, they were sentenced to 80 lashes each.

Their appeal against this sentence remains outstanding.

Andrew Wommack’s Daily 13 December 2017 Devotional: The True Meaning Of The Sabbath

Topic: The True Meaning Of The Sabbath [Wednesday December 13, 2017]

John 19:31 “The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.”

The Sabbath was first mentioned in scripture in Exodus 16, when the Lord miraculously provided manna to the children of Israel in the wilderness. The Israelites were commanded to gather twice as much manna on the sixth day because God would not provide any on the seventh day (Ex. 16:5, 22-30).

Shortly after this, the Lord commanded the observance of the Sabbath day in the ten commandments that were given to Moses on two tablets of stone on Mt. Sinai (Ex. 20:8-11). In this command, God connected the Sabbath day with the rest He took on the seventh day of creation.

According to Exodus 23:12, one of the purposes of the Sabbath was to give man and his animals one day of physical rest each week. Today’s medical science has proven that our bodies need at least one day of rest each week to function at our peak. Deuteronomy 5:15 also clearly states that the Sabbath was to serve as a reminder to the Jews that they had been slaves in Egypt and were delivered from bondage, not by their own efforts, but by the supernatural power of God. However, in the New Testament, there is an even clearer purpose of the Sabbath stated. In Colossians 2:16-17, Paul reveals that the Sabbath was only a shadow of things to come and is now fulfilled in Christ. Hebrews 4:1-11 talks about a Sabbath rest that is available to all New Testament believers, but is not necessarily functional in all New Testament believers. This New Testament Sabbath rest is simply a relationship with God in which we cease from doing things by our own efforts and let God work through us. The Old Testament Sabbath is a perfect picture of the New Testament relationship.

Pope Francis’ Concern Over Lord’s Prayer ‘Isn’t a New Issue’ for the Church: Catholic Official

(Photo: REUTERS/Alessandro Bianchi)Pope Francis waves during his Angelus prayer on the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Saint Peter’s Square at the Vatican, August 15, 2017.

Pope Francis’ recently stated concern over the current wording of the Lord’s Prayer is not a new debate, according to an official with the Roman Catholic Church.

In a recent interview with an Italian television station, Pope Francis said he supported changing the Lord’s Prayer petition “lead us not into temptation” to “do not let us fall into temptation.”

Fr. Andrew Menke, executive director for the Secretariat of Divine Worship at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, told The Christian Post that this debate is an old one.

“The Catechism of the Catholic Church already pointed out the difficulty of translating the Greek text of the Lord’s Prayer in the Bible, so this isn’t a new issue,” said Menke.

“Pope Benedict XVI also wrote extensively about the difficulty of the passage, and of the proper way to understand it. It should also be mentioned that Jesus often said things that require us to ponder.”

Menke also told CP that he was not aware of any report that the pope had “initiated any formal process for reviewing or revising that part of the prayer in other…

Billy Graham’s Daily 13 December 2017 Devotional: What God Has Done

Billy Graham’s Daily 13 December 2017 Devotional: What God Has Done

Topic: What God Has Done [Wednesday December 13, 2017]

With everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy redeemer. — Isaiah 54:8

If God is all-powerful and all-loving, it would seem inconsistent with His nature to allow anyone to be lost. Here again we rationalize because we do not understand the nature of God. God cannot go against His own laws and against His own nature. God is holy. He cannot tolerate sin in His presence. He created us free to choose how we would live. He invites us to come His way, but leaves us free to pursue our own ends with tragic, natural consequences. We glibly say, “Surely a loving God would not allow a person He loves to be lost. He just wouldn’t allow it.” Far from allowing it, God has done everything He can to prevent it! Talk about love! “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son . . . ” This is good news. Because of what God in love has done for us, we need not be lost.

Prayer for the day: Almighty God, your magnanimous love is felt in my life, as I live each day through the grace of Your Son, Jesus Christ.

    Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s Daily December 13, 2017 Devotional – Don’t Panic

    Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s Daily December 13, 2017 Devotional – Don't Panic

    Topic: Don’t Panic [Wednesday December 13, 2017]

Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed. Proverbs 16:3, The Amplified Bible

Right now you may be on the edge of a major decision…about to make a change in your job or your church or your personal life. You know you need divine guidance. And you’re hoping desperately to hear from the Lord.

If that’s your situation, don’t panic. Being led by the Lord isn’t some complicated process that only the spiritual “pros” can master.

I found that out years ago when I was a new believer. I wanted to live in a way that was pleasing to God, but I didn’t know how to make decisions that were in line with His will.

Then one day as I was studying The Amplified Bible, I came across Proverbs 16:3. Immediately, I latched on to this verse and began to use it in my life—and I can tell you now from experience, it works!

It will work for you too if you’ll do what it says. Roll your works over on God, commit your ways to Him, trust them wholly to Him. He’ll start adjusting your thoughts to be like His until, at some point, you’ll just know the right thing to do. Of course, faith is involved. One of the requirements is trust, and you won’t be able to do that without feeding on God’s Word. Then as you practice rolling your works upon the Lord and trusting Him, you become more confident in your ability to hear. Start now with whatever problem is bothering you. Pray and trust God with it. In other words, believe you receive when you pray. Stop worrying and begin believing.

Learn to live this way and it doesn’t matter whether you’ve been a Christian 30 minutes or 30 years, your plans shall be established and succeed!

Our Daily Bread 13 December 2017 Devotional – It Isn’t Me

Our Daily Bread 13 December 2017 Devotional – It Isn’t Me

    Topic: It Isn’t Me — Wednesday December 13, 2017.

    Read: 1 Corinthians 15:1–11, Bible in a Year: Hosea 12–14; Revelation 4

I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. Galatians 2:20

As one of the most celebrated orchestral conductors of the twentieth century, Arturo Toscanini is remembered for his desire to give credit to whom credit is due. In David Ewen’s Dictators of the Baton, the author describes how members of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra rose to their feet and cheered Toscanini at the end of a rehearsal of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. When there was a lull in the ovation, and with tears in his eyes, Arturo’s broken voice could be heard exclaiming as he spoke: “It isn’t me . . . it’s Beethoven! . . . Toscanini is nothing.”

In the apostle Paul’s New Testament letters, he also refused to take credit for his spiritual insight and influence. He knew he was like a spiritual father and mother to many who had put their faith in Christ. He admitted he had worked hard and suffered much to encourage the faith, hope, and love of so many (1 Cor. 15:10). But he could not, in good conscience, accept the applause of those who were inspired by his faith, love, and insight.

So for his readers’ sake, and for ours, Paul said, in effect, “It isn’t me, brothers and sisters. It’s Christ . . . Paul is nothing.” We are only messengers of the One who deserves our cheers.

Prayer: Father in heaven, without You we would have nothing. Without Your grace we would be hopeless. Without the Spirit of Your Son we would be helpless. Please show us how to give You the honor You deserve.

Wise is the person who would rather give honor than receive it.

    Insight:

Paul warned the Corinthian church not to be enamored by the charisma or eloquence of human teachers. He reproved the believers for exalting him and reminded them that he did not come to glorify himself (1 Cor. 2:1–5); it is the message of the cross that is important, not the messenger (v. 2). The Holy Spirit is the real Teacher who reveals, teaches, and illumines us to understand God’s Word (vv. 10–16).

Are you sometimes tempted with spiritual pride? Ask the Holy Spirit to help you point others to the One who deserves the glory. Sim Kay Tee

Christian groups warn of ‘opt-out’ organ donation policy

UK Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has said families should overcome the “fatal reluctance” to talk about organ donation as he launched a consultation into plans for an opt-out system.

According to NHS Blood and Transplant, around 6,500 people are currently waiting for a transplant in the UK, but in the past year 1,100 families decided not to allow organ donation because they were unsure or did not know whether their relatives would have wanted to donate.

However, Christian organisations have told Premier an opt-out system is not the answer to the problem.

Philippa Taylor from the Christian Medical Fellowship told Premier while most Christians believe organ donation is a good and honourable thing to do, they may have issues with the method of the proposed measures.

“I think it’s the way that this is being done and the assumption that everyone is donating without it being a deliberate decision,” she said.

“Therefore, it’s not necessarily a gift that is voluntarily offered.

“In countries where specialist nurses can talk to families about donation, then families are far more likely to agree to donating the organs of the deceased… we will be asking the Government to increase funding for specialist nurses for organ donation, as a more effective, as well as ethical, ways to proceed.”

The opt-out system was launched in Wales two years ago. Christian charity CARE said it is not confident the scheme would work in…
