Hundreds gather to support Christian cake maker Jack Phillips

A five-year legal battle is set for it’s conclusion as Phillips battles for his right to refuse to make a gay wedding cake.

In 2012 a same sex couple entered his store, Masterpiece Cakeshop, in Colorado to ask him to design a cake for their wedding.

When he refused, the state intervened.

Supported by religious freedom charity Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), he will have his say at the USA’s highest court, with the verdict set to create a precedent across the country.

On Tuesday morning, hundreds gathered outside the court to show support for Phillips.

His main legal argument is that no one should be forced to create artistic expression that communicates a message with which he fundamentally disagrees.

Speaking about the impact the case could have on Christians across the USA, Jeremey Tedesco from ADF said: “If the government has the power to coerce Jack Phillips to create artistic expression that violate his beliefs then it ultimately has that power over all of us.

“The principle established in this case is going to be very important moving forward.”

The case mirrors the legal action faced by Ashers Bakery in Norther Ireland.

The owners were found to have discriminated against a customer based on his sexual orientation after they refused to make a cake which said ‘support gay marriage’.

Having been told to pay compensation, they’re still trying to overturn the decision.

Mark Driscoll explains why he allowed his 4 year old a believer’s baptism

The practice, which is also known as adult baptism, is undertaken by those who profess an understanding of what Jesus did.

It normally sees a person fully immersed in water.

Addressing the long discussed issue of how old someone needs to be to have a believer’s baptism, Driscoll said there was no clear answer and each case should be treated differently.

Speaking to parents at Trinity Church which he leads in Scottsdale Arizona, he talked about how he handled his son’s request to be baptised.

“I came down one morning and he had his picture Bible and he said ‘I need to get baptised now that I’m a Christian’ and he was very serious about it.

“I thought we’ll give it some time and see if it sticks but he kept bringing it up.

“So I started asking him all the theological questions – and he was fine.

“We took him to a leader in the church and he answered all the questions.

“So we baptised him and he’s walked with the Lord ever since.”

He did however warn against pushing someone into baptism.

27 Babies Born Alive and Left to Die at Australian Abortion Clinic

27 Babies Born Alive and Left to Die at Australian Abortion Clinic

Twenty-seven babies were born alive at an Australian abortion clinic and left to die after failed abortions.

Nick Goiran, an Australian Member of Parliament, has begun a petition with the aim of authorizing a commission to investigate the babies’ deaths, according to LifeNews.com. After receiving 7,000 signatures on the petition, Goiran presented it to Parliament.

“The law of Western Australia is actually OK – it’s just not being followed or implemented,” Goiran stated. “It is contrary to law for these babies not to be provided with care and medical attention; it is contrary to law for these matters not to be reported to the Department of Child Protection and for the Coroner not to investigate.”

Goiran has reportedly been trying to initiate an investigation into the babies’ deaths for years, but his requests with the Department of Health have not turned up any answers.

Most of the aborted babies were reportedly victims of late-term abortions. They were aborted between 1999 and 2016. Since the babies were close to full-term, they could likely have survived outside the womb if given medical treatment.

“Health practitioners tell us that in Western Australia the protocol is that if the baby is 23 weeks or more, then they engage with all the resources that are available and the skills and so on. It’s a call to action at 23 weeks or more,” Goiran…

Open Heavens 6 December 2017: Wednesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – What Do You See?

Open Heavens 6 December 2017: Wednesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – What Do You See?

Topic: What Do You See? — Wednesday 6, December 2017.

Memorise: I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.Habakkuk 2:1

Read: Habakkuk 2:1-3 (KJV)

1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Bible in One Year: Psalm 108-112, Habakkuk 3, Hymn: Sing Hymn 7 – O Jesus, I Have Promised

MESSAGE:

The power of vision is one very crucial lesson we can learn from Elisha’s unshakable focus when his master was about to be taken up to heaven (2 kings 2:1-15). Vision gives direction. What you see is what you attain, and what you focus on determines what comes to you in life. You can never rise above your vision. While speaking to Abraham concerning His promise that Abraham’s descendants would inherit the land of Canaan, the Lord plainly told him that what he would possess would be determined by the extent of his vision. Genesis 13:15 says,

“For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.”

People have often said that what the mind can conceive can be achieved. What can you see? What can you picture or envision concerning your future? For your mind to be able to see clearly, you have to be born again and have a recreated spirit which is capable of seeing things the way God sees them (Romans 12:2).

In addition, what you focus on is equally very important. This is because what you focus on expands and fills your sight. Your focus affects you significantly, shapes your life and determines what you attract to yourself. The sons of the prophets in all three locations Elijah visited before his rapture to heaven focused on loss. They focused on the fact that their national prophet would soon be raptured, and they would soon be without their leader. Consequently, that was exactly what they got. On the other hand, Elisha focused on his singular goal of receiving a double portion of the Spirit of his master, Elijah, and he got it. We have a way of attracting what we focus on. What or who is your focus? Hebrews 12:1 says we should look unto Jesus. In other words, it says we should make Jesus Christ our focus. Furthermore, 2 Corinthians 3:18 says,

“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

When we focus on Jesus, we will begin to change from what we are into what He is. Focusing on Jesus is a major change medium that will definitely make us what we ought to be. Until you focus on Him, you will unknowingly be focusing on other things, individuals or even yourself. What is your focus today?

Action Point: Catalogue what you spend your time doing in a day, and this will give you a good indication of what your focus really is.

Hymn 7: Oh Jesus I Have Promised

1. O Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou forever near me, my Master and my Friend;
I shall not fear the battle if Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway if Thou wilt be my Guide.

2. Oh, let me hear Thee speaking in accents clear and still,
I dare not trust my judgment: Thy way shall be my will;
Oh, speak to reassure me, to hasten or control;
Oh, speak, and help me listen, Thou Guardian of my soul.

3. O Jesus, Thou hast promised to all who follow Thee
That where Thou art in glory there shall Thy servant be;
And Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end—
Oh, give me grace to follow, my Master and my Friend.

4. Oh, let me see Thy footprints, and in them plant mine own;
My hope to follow duly is in Thy strength alone;
Oh, guide me, call me, draw me, uphold me to the end;
And then in Heav’n receive me, my Saviour and my Friend.

Christian charity concerned by Facebook’s new app for kids

The new version of the social media’s messenger app “Messenger Kids” will make it easier for children to safely video chat and message with family and friends when they can’t be together in person.

However, youngsters will need parental approval before they can use the app.

Katharine Hill, UK Director of Christian charity Care for the Family told Premier that while she welcomed Facebook addressing the issue of children using its app, there were issues the social media giant still needs to consider.

She explained: “I think there is a massive question over the whole idea of encouraging younger and younger children to spend more and more time glued to screens.”

While the Facebook technically only allows children aged 13 to create profiles, lax prevention methods has resulted in more than 20 million under under-13-year-olds using the network, according to Consumer Reports.

Messenger Kids is being trialled in the US as a standalone app for a smartphone or tablet that is controlled from a parent’s Facebook account and does not create a main Facebook profile for young users.

The social network said the app was developed in consultation with parents and safety experts.

Hill whose latest book ‘Left To Their Own Devices: Confident Parenting In A World of Screens’ addressed concerns about youngsters using technology, told Premier Christian parents shouldn’t stop children from using social media.

She said: “I think if we…

Sen. Lindsey Graham Believes U.S. is Close to Military Conflict with North Korea

Sen. Lindsey Graham Believes U.S. is Close to Military Conflict with North Korea

As U.S. tensions with North Korea escalate, Sen. Lindsey Graham has said he is concerned about a potential military conflict between the two nations.

According to The Christian Post, the Republican senator from South Carolina called North Korea “the greatest immediate threat to the United States.”

“We’re getting close to a military conflict because North Korea’s marching toward marrying up the technology of an I.C.B.M. [intercontinental ballistic missile] with a nuclear weapon on top that cannot only get to America but deliver the weapon,” Graham said in an interview with CBS News.

Graham also urged the Pentagon to stop sending any American personnel to South Korea, due to its proximity to the volatile North.

North Korea has reportedly successfully tested several long-range missiles that could potentially reach the U.S. mainland, as ChristianHeadlines.com previously reported.

Graham added that the Trump administration aims “to deny North Korea the capability to hit America with a nuclear-tipped missile.”

“Not to contain it. Denial means preemptive war as a last resort,” he continued. “That preemption is becoming more likely as their technology matures,” he explained. “Every missile test, every underground test of a nuclear weapon, means the marriage is more likely. I think we’re really running out of time.”

Graham believes President Trump is…
