Teens’ Open Heavens 5 December 2017 by Pastor Adeboye – Don’t Bury Your Talent

Topic: Don’t Bury Your Talent [Tuesday 5, December 2017]

Memorise: “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6

Read: Matthew 25:24-29

24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

Bible In One Year: 2 Corinthians 5-9. Hymn: Sing Hymn 2: O Jesus, I Have Promised

MESSAGE:

God ordained seedtime and harvest not just to mark time, but as a life principle. He also gave varying degrees of talents to every human being as a form of heavenly investment. Consequently, every legitimate human task, however menial it may seem, is of intrinsic worth and a potential means of glorifying God. God expects us to use our God given talents and abilities profitably. I once told my children that if they applied the natural farming principle of sowing and reaping, entering into their harvest will be a walk-over, because they will know what to sow, how to sow it and how to water the seed sown in order to have their desired harvest. In essence, they will know how to profitably use their talents for the progress of God’s kingdom.

Have you sown a seed? Your harvest will come. If you have sown quality seeds, give it time to mature. If you are impatient with your seed, you cannot obtain its potentials. On the other hand, sow quality seeds; sow only what you want to reap. It is wrong to expect a harvest from where you have not sown. Have you sown towards your desired harvest?

Prayer Point: Father, please help me sow towards my desire.

Sing Hymn 2: O Jesus, I Have Promised

1. O Jesus, I have promised,
To serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou forever near me,
My Master and my Friend;
I shall not fear the battle
If Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway
If Thou wilt be my Guide.

2. Oh, let me hear Thee speaking,
In accents clear and still,
I dare not trust my judgment:
Thy way shall be my will;
Oh, speak to reassure me,
To hasten or control;
Oh, speak, and make me listen,
Thou Guardian of my soul.

3. O Jesus, Thou hast promised
To all who follow Thee
That where Thou art in glory
There shall Thy servant be;
And Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Oh, give me grace to follow,
My Master and my Friend.

4. Oh, let me see Thy footmarks,
And in them plant mine own;
My hope to follow duly
Is in Thy strength alone.
Oh, guide me, call me, draw me,
Uphold me to the end;
And then in Heav’n receive me,
My Savior and my Friend.

Joyce Meyer's Daily 5 December 2017 Devotional: Filled with All Peace and Joy

Topic: Filled with All Peace and Joy [Tuesday December 5, 2017]

Look at the proud; his soul is not straight or right within him, but the [rigidly] just and the [uncompromisingly] righteous man shall live by his faith and in his faithfulness. — Habakkuk 2:4

I went through a particularly difficult time several years ago when there was absolutely no joy or peace in my life. Every time I made a mistake, I was quick to condemn myself, angry that I couldn’t be the “perfect Christian.”

Then one day, I came across Romans 15:13: May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing… That was it. I got it!

I realized that I had plunged into doubt and unbelief, allowing the devil to torment me with negativity, anger, and impatience. In the process, I had forgotten that believing in God and trusting His Word brings peace and hope and overcomes my weakness.

God’s Word gave me the answer. Jesus loved me so much that He not only forgave all my sins from the past, but also looked ahead and forgave me for those moments of weakness when I’d fail in the future. I don’t have to allow Satan to sneak in with questions or unbelief, and you don’t either.

Know today that peace, hope and joy are right in front of you. Go to God’s Word and let it stir up your faith.

Prayer Starter: Lord, every time I start to believe the enemy’s lies, remind me of the truth in Your Word. By believing in You, I receive peace and joy today.

Israel Forced to Cancel Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit due to Palestinian Claim

Israel Forced to Cancel Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit due to Palestinian Claim

Israel will not go ahead with its planned exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls in Frankfurt, Germany because the German government has said it cannot guarantee that the scrolls will be returned if the Palestinians or Jordanians claim them.

The Frankfurt Bible Museum said it would cancel the exhibit, which was slated to open in September 2019.

“Because of the unwillingness of both ministries to give the necessary declaration, as Qumran lies in today’s West Bank, the Israel Antiques Authority is not letting the material out of the country and the Bible Museum had to cancel its plans,” Uwe Becker, the deputy mayor of Frankfurt, told The Jerusalem Post.

Becker said he had sent letters to Culture and Media Minister Monika Grütters and Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel, asking them to support the exhibition.

The Israeli Antiquities Authority, that agency that oversees the archaeological heritage of the country, had worked with the Frankfurt museum to coordinate the exhibit.

Israel claims ownership and possession of the Dead Sea Scrolls, but Jordan and Palestine both also claim them and have demanded they be returned.

Each visit the Dead Sea Scrolls tour, Jordan and Palestine governments have demanded they be returned, but those claims are ignored.

Germany, however, said it couldn’t ignore those claims.
