President Donald Trump is receiving praise for sharing the Christmas story at the National Christmas Tree Lighting and Pageant of Peace ceremony at the White House on Thursday where he proclaimed that everyone is a “child of God.”

The event marks the Trump family’s first Christmas at the White House and as he promised during his presidential campaign, he did not shy away from wishing everyone a “Merry Christmas.” Furthermore, the 45th president of the United States also spoke about the nativity.

“The Christmas Story begins 2,000 years ago with a mother, a father, their baby son, and the most extraordinary gift of all — the gift of God’s love for all of humanity.

Whatever our beliefs, we know that the birth of Jesus Christ and the story of this incredible life forever changed the course of human history.

Each and every year at Christmas time we recognize that the real spirit of Christmas is not what we…

Kathie Lee’s Emotional Reaction To Matt Lauer’s Termination

Kathie Lee’s Emotional Reaction To Matt Lauer’s Termination

Earlier this week news broke that after 20 years at NBC Matt Lauer was fired. The news comes after allegations of sexual misconduct were brought to the attention of NBC executives. According to Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb, one of Matt’s colleagues came forward with an extremely serious story of sexual assault.

Many of Matt’s co-anchors were completely shocked by the news, struggling to find words while communicating to viewers. Kathie Lee Gifford offered some sage advice during this heartbreaking time. She reminded all of us that it is during these times that we are forced to rely only on one thing: God.

She recalls how she felt when her husband Frank betrayed her many years ago. Then Kathie began quoting scripture saying, “we’ve all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”, continuing to encourage us to forgive. Kathie went on to talk about the importance of choosing to love instead of hate. The coming weeks and months are going to be extremely difficult for Matt and his family.

Kathie Lee spoke prayers for healing and reconciliation over the family during this difficult situation. She also prayed for the victim who came forward. Admiring her for her bravery to do so. Kathie Lee ends her comments apologizing saying,”Didn’t mean to go to church. But sometimes you gotta go to church”. Then Hoda reassured her that her words were impactful quipping back…

Deacons Allegedly Snap, ‘Cuss’ Congregants Who Left Offering Bucket Empty Amid Pastor Dispute

(Photo: Facebook)Pastor Stafford Dudley Sr., (pulpit) at the pulpit of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Newnan, Georgia.

Several members of the 131-year-old Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Newnan, Georgia, are now asking for help with mediation after they allege that a number of their deacons snapped and “cussed” at them, then had local police oust them from their church. The dispute occurred on Sunday when members withheld their offering during an attempt to find out why their pastor was removed without explanation.

Up until two weeks ago, Pastor Stafford Dudley Sr. led the mid-size congregation that one member estimates has approximately 500 members.

Two Sundays ago, however, according to church member and Newnan resident Pamela Hunter, Dudley was axed by the church’s Board of Deacons and the members were not informed.

“From Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, the deacons that fired our pastor never got in touch with none of the members to let us know what’s going on. And they think that they was gonna have church [as usual] on Sunday,” Hunter said.

A document reviewed by CP shows the church’s board consists of: Willie Walton, chairman; Clifford Durrah, assistant chairman; Walter Carter, treasurer; and Vernon Strickland, assistant…

Call for Christians to be better neighbours to lonely older people this Christmas

Pat Johnson, who is holding a Christmas day event for elderly lonely people in her church in Northampton, told Premier why she and her husband have been motivated to hold the event for the past 30 years.

She explained: “I say to the volunteers that come to help – especially at lunch times when everybody is sitting down and everybody is ‘chat, chat, chat, chat’, I say ‘if you wonder what you’re doing here, just listen to everyone in the room’.

“If they weren’t here, they’d be sitting in front of the television on their own, not talking to anybody.”

Her comments echo a new Age UK study that found almost a million older people say they feel lonelier at Christmas than at any other time.

The survey also found that 55 per cent rely on the TV for company over the festive period.

Mrs Johnson told Premier why Christmas can be difficult for older people.

She said: “They had more immediate family around them because granny lived around the corner and so and so lived up the street.

“Some of its thinking back to that time when things were a really cosy Christmas… a family time whereas nowadays, families are more fragmented.”

She emphasized that Christians need to step-up to the plate to help counter loneliness in elderly people.

Explaining how this can be done, she told Premier: “Neighbours aren’t the same as they used to be.

“But if you’re Christians, I hope you sort of know your neighbours, or somebody attached to the…

Bill That Would Allow Churches to Receive FEMA Aid Advances in Congress

Bill That Would Allow Churches to Receive FEMA Aid Advances in Congress

Churches, synagogues, mosques and other faith-based community centers damaged in a natural disaster could be eligible for federal disaster relief funds under a measure approved by a congressional committee.

The Disaster Recovery Reform Act, also known as H.R. 4460, was approved on Thursday (Nov. 30) by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and will next move to the House floor for deliberation.

The bill received strong support from both sides of the aisle despite objections that using taxpayer funds to rebuild houses of worship would violate the separation of church and state. Proponents of the measure argue that religious groups, which are often at the forefront of disaster relief efforts, are being unfairly disadvantaged.

The bill is being considered in the wake of a particularly destructive hurricane season that saw storms ravage Puerto Rico, Florida and the Texas coastline, and wildfires in October that swept across Northern California, where damage costs soar above $1 billion.
