Jesus saved me, says shark attack survivor

Tiffany Johnson from Concord in North Carolina revealed how “mountains moved” and she was able to get the medical care she needed.

Mrs Johnson was snorkling beside a boat off the coast of the Bahamas in May when the creature appeared and locked its mouth around her right arm.

She was quoted by Associated Press (AP) as saying: “I look back at my response, and the first thing I said was ‘Help, help me Jesus!’

“That ministers to me; I cried tears about how the first thing that came out was him.

“Thank you, Jesus, that I relied on you when I had nothing else.”

After wrestling with the animal, Mrs Johnson escaped the shark’s grip but lost her hand and the lower section of her arm in the attack.

Mrs Johnson compared the stillness in her heart immediately after the incident to the peace that “surpasses all understanding”, as described by Paul in Philippians 4:7.

Despite earlier concerns about locating their passports, managing their travel insurance provision and arrange emergency travel back to the United States, Mrs Johnson was flown to cosmestic surgeons in Charlotte for treatment.

Remembering the attack, she added: “When the Lord says a peace that surpasses all understanding, that was it; I was living that.”

Mrs Johnson shared about her experience as a guest speaker a new…

Pray for my son, asks TV’s Simon Thomas after wife’s death

The ex-children’s television host announced that his spouse Gemma passed away on Saturday evening, three days after falling ill with acute myeloid leukaemia.

Writing on Twitter, the 44-year-old said he was “crushed with indescribable pain” and asked that people who pray remember his eight-year-old son Ethan, who is “in bits”.

BBC Breakfast presenter and Christian, Dan Walker offer his support, responding: “There are no words. So sorry to hear my friend. Hold him close”.

Simon and Gemma – who was 40 – married in 2005, the same year Simon Thomas joined Sky Sports following his six year spell as a Blue Peter presenter.

A Sky Sports spokesman said: “We are shocked and devastated to hear Simon’s news.

“The thoughts of everyone at Sky Sports are with him and his family during this terribly sad time.”

Channel 4’s Countdown presenter Rachel Riley tweeted Mr Thomas with her “deepest, deepest sympathies”, while England football captain Steph Houghton MBE said she was sending “all my love to you and Ethan”.

Around 3,100 people in the UK are diagnosed every year with acute myeloid leukaemia, a blood cancer which can affect both children and adults.

Dr John Sentamu keeps pledge to wear collar again after Mugabe’s exit

Dr John Sentamu said he had “no choice” but to fulfil the promise he made ten years ago not to wear the religious accessory until Zimbabwe was “free”.

He told the BBC’s Andrew Marr: “I promised that when Mugabe goes I would put my collar on, so I have no choice but to put it back on.”

The Anglican figure dramatically removed his clerical collar and chopped it up with scissors during an interview with Mr Marr in 2007.

On Sunday’s The Andrew Marr Show, Dr John was presented with the remnants of the collar, which Mr Marr had kept inside an envelope.

He told the broadcaster: “You know, Andrew I could attempt to put this one back or I could try and put them all together using superglue.”

Mr Marr replied: “It would be a pretty ropey collar, Archbishop.”

Dr John responded: “And I actually think the lesson for Zimbabwe is the same; they can’t just try to stitch it up.

“Something more radical, something new needs to happen in turns of the rule of law, allowing people to get jobs.”

“Mugabe has gone but the new president has got to remember something more new than simply stitching up a thing will work.”

Dr John said there should be a new body in Zimbabwe – styled on South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission – which would help unite the country after…

David Abioye’s Daily 26 November 2017 Devotional – God’s Greatest Need

David Abioye's Daily 26 November 2017 Devotional - God's Greatest Need

Topic: God’s Greatest Need [Sunday November 26, 2017]

God needs those who will walk with Him more than those who will work for Him.

He values relationship more than stewardship for Him.

He created man to relate with – Gen.1:26-28

He called Abraham to walk with Him – Gen.17:1,2

Job was an upright man before God – Job.1:1-3

For God, it is relationship before any other thing.

Your walk will give you worth before He will value your work for Him.

So, deepen your relationship with God in order to make your work acceptable to Him.

Joyce Meyer's Daily 26 November 2017 Devotional: Pursue a Life of Holiness

Topic: Pursue a Life of Holiness [Sunday November 26, 2017]

Not that I have now attained [this ideal], or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus (the Messiah) has laid hold of me and made me His own. — Philippians 3:12

I think we need to be a little more careful than we are with how we live. Not that we have to be so careful that we live in fear, but careful in a godly way, not a legalistic way.

Because if we’re not careful about who our friends are, what television programs and movies we watch, what kinds of books we read, what kinds of music we listen to, how we spend our money, and what we do with our time, we could end up living wasted lives.

As Christians, we must pursue holiness and realize that we are sanctified, which means we are set apart for God’s use. In fact, the minute we accept Christ as our Savior, we are sanctified by the Holy Spirit and set apart for a God-given purpose. And if we’re not fulfilling our purpose or if we’re not pursuing our purpose, we’re going to feel empty and frustrated.

I urge you today to pursue your purpose of holiness. When faced with challenging decisions, ask God what to do and choose the path of holiness that He has laid out for you.

Prayer Starter: Jesus, help me to be aware of anything that would pull me away from a life of holiness. With Your guidance, I want to live carefully, following the path of holiness You have for me.

Open Heavens 26 November 2017: Sunday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – A Meal With A Difference

Open Heavens 26 November 2017: Sunday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – A Meal With A Difference

Topic: A Meal With A Difference — Sunday 26, November 2017.

Memorise: And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God. 1 Kings 19:8

Read: 1 Kings 19:1-8 (KJV)

1 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.

2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.

3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.

4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.

6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

7 And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

Bible in One Year: Psalm 56-62, Micah 3:1-4:5, Hymn: Sing Hymn 5 – The Great Physician

MESSAGE:

In John 21:1-13, we have an amazing account of Jesus inviting His disciples to come and dine of a meal He had already prepared. The Lord Jesus Christ loves good food and He prepares the best of dishes in the whole universe. To catch a glimpse of how those meals in Heaven will be, just take a look at the bread and wine that is used during the Holy Communion. By the time the Lord takes them over and they are transformed into spiritual food, the elements of these erstwhile ordinary items will begin to do what no ordinary meal can do in the life of those who partake of it. In today’s Bible reading, after the mass slaughter of the prophets of Baal, Jezebel sought to kill Elijah. He therefore fled for his life until he was so exhausted that he lay down under a juniper tree and slept off. Then two heaven-baked meals were set before him and he ate them. What was the result? 1 Kings 19:8 says,

“And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.”

That meal provided him physical sustenance to the extent that his body survived without food and water for 40 days and nights! Medical science will tell you that it is impossible to live without water for three weeks; But Elijah did this after he took the heaven-baked bread! Also, that meal revived him spiritually. The same person who was contemplating suicide was now able to ascend the mountain of God. Depression was completely gone away from him!

Do you know that the Holy Communion, which assumes a spiritual dimension after the Greatest Cook touches its elements, is capable of taking care of various sickness and diseases? Through it, you can be delivered from every power of darkness that is holding you bound! Your debtors can be compelled to pay you what they owe you! By this Heavenly meal, you can break the yoke of besetting sins and live righteously before God. Through it, various impossible situations can be made possible. How often have you availed yourself of the limitless opportunities provided by the Holy Communion? How often do you attend a meeting where it is served? When you attend such meetings, do you release your faith along with your requests, or do you withhold your faith? From today, take steps to enjoy the heavenly baked meal that is the Holy Communion.

Action Point: Never take the Holy Communion without prayerfully connecting it with a definite, specific request to God.

Hymn 5: The Great Physician

1. The great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus.

Refrain:
Sweetest note in seraph song,
Sweetest Name on mortal tongue;
Sweetest carol ever sung,
Jesus, blessed Jesus.

2. Your many sins are all forgiv’n,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus;
Go on your way in peace to heav’n,
And wear a crown with Jesus.
[Refrain]

3. All glory to the dying Lamb!
I now believe in Jesus;
I love the blessed Saviour’s Name,
I love the Name of Jesus.
[Refrain]

4. His Name dispels my guilt and fear,
No other name but Jesus;
Oh, how my soul delights to hear
The charming Name of Jesus.
[Refrain]

DCLM Daily Manna 26 November, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi – Odour of Sweet Smell

Topic: Odour of Sweet Smell — Sunday November 26, 2017.

Text: Psalm 117:1, 2

Key Verse: “O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people” (Psalm 117:1).

Praise is comely and pleasant. It is a universal expression often echoed by those whom the Almighty has shown His mercies. David, the psalmist and king of Israel, sang and invited all nations and people to join him in solemn praise of God. This invitation to praise the Lord in our text occurred several times in the book of Psalms and many times in the Bible.

This call resonates everyday in the life of every Christian as God performs His marvelous works and wonders in their lives. The believer owes it a duty to praise the Lord for many reasons. These include our creation and redemption, His love and mercies towards us, unparalleled deliverances, defeat of our foes, victories over physical and spiritual enemies, undeserved favour and above all, the hope of eternal life with Christ in heaven.

The realization of these facts makes it imperative for us like the psalmist, to praise the Lord and encourage others to do the same. It must be remarked that praising the Lord should not be only when we feel good about the great things He has done for us. We should employ the weapon of praise and prayer, like Jehoshaphat, in times of trouble and fear. God has provided His saints with the weapons of praise to defeat the band of foes.

Remember that Paul and Silas prayed and sang in the prison. They obtained deliverance and won the Philippian jailor and his household unto Christ. Through sincere heartfelt praise of God, wonders will happen in your life in Jesus’ name!

Thought for the day: Praise is the aroma of sweet smell that pleases God.

Seeds of Destiny 26 November 2017 by Pastor Paul Enenche — Your Regard For People And Your Results In Life

Seeds of Destiny 26 November 2017 by Pastor Paul Enenche — Your Regard For People And Your Results In Life

Topic: Your Regard For People And Your Results In Life [Sunday November 26, 2017]

Scripture: And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat…and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him… 1 Samuel 30:11-12.

Thought For The Day: Who you are talking to could be the person you are looking for. Inside your relationship could be your result.

Sometime ago, a woman came to our church to see me. She was having a challenge. She probably had not seen me in person before that day. So, while I was walking through the auditorium, she saw me and asked where the general overseer of the ministry was. Then, I asked her, ‘Madam, if you see the ‘General Overseer’ what would you like to tell him?’ She became angry and said something like, ‘It is the G. O. I came to see and not you, stop wasting my time; just show me the General Overseer.’ Maybe I lacked the commensurate body size or weight that should have made me look like a ‘General Overseer’ I told her, ‘Okay, go ahead and look for the General Overseer.’

That was how she bypassed the very person she was looking for while looking at the person. What a tragedy!

Beloved, who you are talking to now could be the person you are looking for. Inside your relationship could be your result. Many young ladies and men have pushed their potential husbands/wives away on the frequency of zero regard for people. So, they keep praying, ‘O God, bring my husband; bring my wife’, and God keep saying to them, ‘Your husband has come and gone; that man you insulted because of his current physical looks was meant to be your husband’

Friends, inside your relationship is your result. To have no regard for people is to lack results in time and in eternity.

But that shall not be your portion, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember This: Who you are talking to could be the person you are looking for. Inside your relationship could be your result.

Assignment (S):

1. Never look down on anyone

2. Respect and value the people that come your way

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: SECRETS OF SUPERNATURAL RESTORATION.

Prayer: O LORD, I ask for Your mercy in any area I might have looked at anyone with disdain or disregard. Help me to value people around me, LORD, in Jesus’ Name.

Quote: Beware what you are known for. Be careful what people see, think or feel about you that is created by your character and your manner of person. Culled from WHO ARE YOU? by Dr Paul Enenche

Daily Reading: Daniel 2:24 to 3:30, 1 Peter 4:7 to 5:14, Psalm 119:81 to 96, Proverbs 28:15 to 16

Amazing Fact: Without companionship rats tend to become lonely and depressed.
