The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sweden has told clergy that they need to start using gender-neutral language when referring to God, and avoid masculine terms such as “He” and “Lord.”
The Associated Press reported on Friday that the guidance was issued in an update to the Church’s handbook that deals with terms of language, liturgy, hymns and other aspects.
Archbishop Antje Jackelén, who heads the former state church in Uppsala, explained that there had been internal discussions for clergy to start using more inclusive language as far back as 1986.
“Theologically, for instance, we know that God is beyond our gender determinations, God is not human,” Jackelén asserted.
Critics, such as Christer Pahlmblad, an associate theology professor at Sweden’s Lund University, told Denmark’s Kristeligt Dagblad newspaper, however, that such a direction will “undermine the doctrine of the Trinity and the community with the other Christian churches.”
“It really isn’t smart if the Church of Sweden becomes known as a church that does not respect the common theology heritage,” Dagblad argued.

Met office say it has found no traces of suspects, evidence or gun shots fired or causalities after incident at Oxford Circus.
Gunshots were reported to have been fired on London’s busiest shopping street and a packed Tube station, police said.
Police responded to a number of reports of shots being fired on Oxford Street and underground at Oxford Circus tube station and are responding as if the incident is terrorist related, Scotland Yard said.
Scotland Yard urged anyone on Oxford Street to “go into a building”.

MESSAGE:
To successfully run the Christian race, certain assignments cannot be delegated or carried out without your involvement. In Joshua chapter 7, Joshua delegated the assignment of fighting Ai to some of his men, and at the end of the day, they suffered defeat. Nothing kills like overconfidence! Have you ever wondered if Judas Iscariot was originally a thief? In Luke 6:12-13, the Lord prayed all night before selecting 12 apostles. It is therefore most likely that he did not start out as a thief. However, even if he was originally a thief, nobody gets to the zenith of an evil deed suddenly. It is usually a gradual process. Backsliding is a process and not a sudden event. If you see a brother backslidden to the point of shamelessly going about with wolves, on closer examination, you will discover that he must have been secretly frolicking with sin for a while. He must have tried a sinful act the first time and “gotten away with it”. This would have encouraged him to try a second, third and fourth time. Since he was not caught, he would gradually continue to practice such acts of sin more frequently, until his final descent becomes glaring for all to see.

The devil does not usually come with a frontal attack against a child of God. He uses subtle, little issues that one will consider as nothing. Those things the devil says do not matter really matter a lot. When you do not see anything wrong in intimately hugging the opposite sex or touching their bodies at will, know that you have started backsliding. If you take a little money from the church purse in your care unnoticed, you have also started backsliding. If you do not cry to the Lord and ask for His help there and then, and you allow your descent to linger, before long, you will be openly fornicating or even selling Jesus for peanuts without feeling remorse. Examine yourself; how is it with your faith today? Have you backslidden in any way? If you have, run to the cross of Calvary for God to restore you before you get to a point of no return! God still loves you. Respond to His love now!
Key Point: The reason why you don’t often get caught immediately you engage in an evil act is not because you are smart, but because God wants you to speedily retrace your steps and repent.

“They exposed the way in which Christians so easily are influenced by secular humanism rather than by the Bible.”
Dr Blamires later became the Dean of Arts and Sciences at King Alfred’s College, which is now the University of Winchester.
His 30 books include novels, literary criticism and Christian apologetics.
He was married to Nancy who died in 2011 and they had five sons.
Dr Blamires’ funeral will be held at St John’s Church, Keswick on 30th November 2017 at 1.30 pm.

Militants set off bombs at the Sufi mosque in the Sinai Peninsula during Friday prayers. They then fired on worshippers.
The attack, which is reported to have been conducted by an Islamic State affiliate, was the largest single targeting of Egyptian civilians since the military’s 2013 overthrow of the president.
Three days of mourning have been declared while security is being increased across the country.
Writing on Twitter the Archbishop of Canterbury described the incident as terrible beyond words.
He added he was praying for peace and justice.

Blessed in the pouring rain by the landmark’s dean a year ago, bosses say the 150 devices have performed better than expected.
Explaining how the panels have proven popular with environmentalists and conservationists alike, project manager Anne Cranston told Premier: “It’s been nothing but positive; it’s brought a whole new audience to us.
“We’re learning; we’re taking our role as custodians seriously, and we are very much caring for the environment and God’s creation.”
The solar panels have generated 31.12MWh of energy during the past twelve months – enough to power seven semi-detached houses – and saved the landmark £4,000 in electricity costs.
They have also prevented 12,199.91kg of carbon dioxide emissions, the equivalent of planting more than 40 trees.
Anne Cranston added: “One of the things that we’ve learned from the conversations that people have had with us since we installed the panels is there is an awful lot more that we can do and quite a lot of it is relatively simple.”
