Gospel Artist, Veola Sophia To Release New Single, ‘Keep Moving’ On July 25

Next Monday, July 25, the independent contemporary gospel singer Veola Sophia will debut her latest studio endeavor, a single entitled ‘Keep Moving.’ The elegant new track, which was produced by Reubin Heights and DJ Elevator at Perfect Blend Studios, is a beautiful excursion through Veola’s talent for inspiring her listeners with masterful lead vocals and relatable lyricism. The song will go live on all major digital music platforms, and local fans can also pick up a physical copy of the new effort at the Bahamas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in Nassau. A native of the Bahamas, Veola began singing gospel music in church at a very young age.

Over the years, she has been lauded for her talent in the Bahamas, in Jamaica, and in the United States. Her infectious, lovable presence as a performer has often put her into the limelight as a featured lead vocalist of church groups. In 2014, she debuted as a solo vocalist with her first release, ‘100 Meters.’ After that, she released her sophomore pursuit, a song called ‘Pledge.’ ‘Keep Moving’ marks her junior release, and it follows on the heels of Veola landing in the top five vocalists of the Gospel Music Association Immerse Conference in Nashville, Tennessee last month.

Christian dating site sued for excluding gay people

A company which owns a Christian dating site has been sued after only offering the option for users to pursue heterosexual relationships.

Spark Networks Inc., which owns Christian Mingle as well as other sites, has agreed to pay more than $450,000 to two gay plaintiffs who claimed their website was discriminatory.

The parent company’s websites asked users to define themselves either as ‘a man seeking a woman’ or ‘a woman seeking a man’.

The ruling in the plaintiff’s favour is based on Californian law, which states that businesses must offer “full and equal accommodations” to people regardless of sexual orientation.

Spark did not accept it had done anything wrong in during court proceedings but said it would be changing its websites to accommodate users looking for partners of the same sex.

Some have praised the decision calling it a victory for equality while others say it’s an attack on traditional Christian views on sexuality.

Andrea Williams from Christian Concern told Premier’s News Hour the company has been forced to bow to pressure: “This is cohesion to the new prevailing political orthodoxy.

“What the state is seeking to do here is seeking to impose something that will run completely against the conscience and ethos of that Christian dating agency.”

Andrea Williams said she thinks a relationships between a man and a woman: “That’s actually the most progressive thing to be saying to our society right now, to be promoting purity.

“That’s what we need, our identity is in Jesus Christ.”

She went on to say that society’s view is having pressure on Christian beliefs in the UK as well as the USA.

“We’re already seeing this happen here in the United Kingdom, perhaps not with regard to the dating agency, but people that believe in marriage between a man and woman, people that believe children need a mother and father, find themselves in trouble with the law,” she said.

AJ’s Investigative Unit has uncovered corruption in the Maldives. Secretly filmed interviews describe how men on mopeds carried millions in cash to the Maldives’ political elite. President Abdulla Yameen and his former deputy, Ahmed Adeeb, are accused of receiving cash in bags filled with up to $1m, so much that it was “difficult to carry,” according to one of the men who delivered it.

In a statement following its release, the Government of the Maldives said: “There is no evidence in this report connecting President Yameen or current members of his Government to any wrongdoing.” It noted that these claims already form part of a wider investigation initiated by President Yameen in February 2016: “We have asked Al Jazeera to provide any evidence they have which is relevant to this investigation.”

Premier News UK report – Britain’s new Prime Minister Theresa May has “profound Christian convictions”, the Bishop of London has told Premier in an exclusive interview.

Speaking after Mrs May was announced as the successor to David Cameron, Rt Revd Richard Chartres said the country was not “facing a Pagan prime minister”.

Theresa May, 59, has “profound Christian convictions, not only inherited but also of her own”, he said.

 

Mrs May’s father was a vicar in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

She promised to give British people “more control over their lives”, after a day of drama in Westminster saw her coronation as David Cameron’s successor as Prime Minister.

The Home Secretary will take up office as Britain’s second female PM on Wednesday, after Mr Cameron answers MPs’ questions in the House of Commons for the last time and goes to Buckingham Palace to offer his resignation to the Queen.

Mrs May was unexpectedly transformed from leadership candidate to prime minister-designate by the sensational decision of her only rival, Andrea Leadsom, to pull out of the race to succeed Mr Cameron, which had been due to last until September 9.

Bishop Richard exclusively told Premier: “We pray for her because we are bound to pray, we pray for her in a situation of great tension and difficulty where it’s hard to see how one can find a way forward which is going to achieve majority support.

Throughout the Bible, God’s law and His grace are interwoven. They are not at odds, as some think. What does the Bible really say about law and grace?

The Bible reveals how God thinks. It contains laws that God gave “for your good” (Deuteronomy 10:13 ; Romans 7:12 ). They are beneficial family rules that show us how to love God the way He wants to be loved and how to love fellow human beings in the way that promotes the greatest peace and happiness.

God’s laws are not a burden but a blessing (1 John 5:3 ).

However, the truth is that no human being, except Jesus Christ, has perfectly obeyed God’s laws. Going against God’s perfect and holy laws creates a rift between us and our holy Creator. His perfect righteousness can’t coexist with the vile corruption of sin. The horrible stain of sin must be removed if we are ever to have the close family relationship that God so greatly desires. While the law defines sin, clearly showing us what actions are right and wrong, keeping the law—even keeping it perfectly—cannot remove the penalties for our previous sins and reconcile us to God. We are saved “for” good works, not “by” good works (Ephesians 2:10 ).

God’s grace—His love and mercy and all of His generous gifts—makes reconciliation possible. Grace does not remove the beneficial laws but, through Christ’s sacrifice, pays the penalty of sin.

It is not a case of law vs. grace. God’s revelation is that law and grace work together.

So why do so many today believe grace abolishes God’s law or that they are at odds? In this section, we carefully examine the teachings of the Bible on law and grace to see what God really intended.

Zimbabwe bishops push President Mugabe to step down

Christian leaders in Zimbabwe have spoken out against long-reigning president Robert Mugabe.

Bishops were speaking as part of marking the United Nations (UN) Day Against Torture and expressed their shock that Zimbabwe had not ratified the Convention on torture and did it not recognise the day, even though it is a member of the UN.

According to The Zimbabwean they are pushing Mugabe to resign in the wake of fresh reports concerning claims of abduction, harassment and torture in the country by state security agents.

Zimbabwe Divine Destiny (ZDD) church leader, Bishop Ancelimo Magaya, spoke at a conference in the capital Harare.

He said: “If I was given five minutes or less to talk to President Mugabe, I would say, Your Excellency Sir, you have done very well in leading Zimbabwe into liberation and independence.”

He went on to say people wanted to be safe and be able to express themselves, free from state harassment, even if they differed in opinion.

Bishop Ancelimo Magaya said the church needed to stand up against the government.

He said the church has made a mistake thinking it has a duty only to preach on a Sunday and conduct services, but it needs to be a voice for the people.

The bishop told Zimbabweans churches are afraid to speak out but that the church needs to change and live up to its moral obligation.

Magaya said: “I don’t also want to rule out the fact that some of us within the church have received certain gifts, possibly from the government, possibly in the form of land and so on.

“And I have always said that a dog with bones in its mouth can never bark.”
