A Florida high school is violating federal law and the Constitution by preventing the formation of a pro-life club even though the same school allows dozens of other student clubs, including LGBTQ special-interest ones, a religious liberty group alleges.

Gulf Coast High School in Naples, Fla., refused this year to officially recognize a pro-life club affiliated with Students for Life of America, even though the pro-life student in question, Gabrielle Gabbard, followed every requirement, according to a letter Alliance Defending Freedom submitted to Collier County Public Schools Thursday. 

The club was to be called “Sharks 4 Life,” but the assistant principal declined to “approve the club because it was too ‘political’ and ‘controversial,’” the letter says. Further, the assistant principal said, “she did not want either pro-choice or pro-life groups at Gulf Coast,” according to the letter. 

“[The] failure to recognize Sharks 4 Life is blatantly illegal under the Equal Access Act and First Amendment, both of which guarantee” Gabbard the right to “have a student club that stands on equal footing with the hundreds of other student clubs in Collier County public schools,” the letter says.

(RNS) — John Crist’s upcoming Netflix holiday special and new book are on hold after allegations the popular comedian has used his celebrity status and Christian reputation to sexually harass women.

A Netflix spokesperson confirmed to Religion News Service on Thursday (Nov. 7) that the status of Crist’s special, entitled “I Ain’t Prayin’ for That,” is now up in the air.

It was set to appear on the video streaming platform on Thanksgiving.

In addition to the special, Crist was scheduled to release a book in March titled “Untag Me: The Subtle Art of Appearing Better Than You Really Are.” Its publisher — WaterBrook, a Christian imprint of Penguin Random House — sent a statement to RNS saying it was postponing publication of the book.

“WaterBrook takes the troubling allegations of sexual misconduct against John Crist extremely seriously,” according to the statement.

Those decisions come amid backlash against the comedian following allegations of sexual misconduct that first were reported Wednesday by ., a charismatic Christian magazine.

While traveling through Mexico to meet with family on Monday, three American mothers and their fourteen children were ambushed by hitmen believed to be connected to the Mexican cartel. 

Reportedly, Rhonita Miller was heading to Phoenix, Arizona to retrieve her husband from the airport and Christina and Dawna Langford were heading to Chihuahua to visit with family when they came under fire.

The ambush, which occurred just miles away from the U.S.-Mexico border, left all three mothers and six of their children dead, the Christian Post reports.

According to Reuters, the victims, who are from a prominent Mormon family, are believed to have been used as bait in a “territorial dispute” between the Sinaloa Cartel and a rival gang.

Reportedly, the first vehicle carrying mother of seven Rhonita Miller and four of her kids – eight-month-old babies, Titus and Tiana Miller; ten-year-old Krystal Miller and twelve-year-old Howard Miller – took on heavy fire eventually causing the car to catch fire. All five of them, trapped in the burning vehicle, perished.

Comedian John Crist, whose YouTube videos about Christian culture have garnered millions of views and propelled him on the national stage with likes of megastars Jeff Foxworthy, Dana Carvey, and Dave Chappelle, has canceled his tour after admitting to “sexual sin and addiction.”

Crist, 35, pulled the plug on his “Immature Thoughts Tour” after . Magazine began investigating allegations of manipulation and sexual misconduct described by at least five young women as sexting, harassment, and affairs.

Several of the women interviewed in the article also allege that numerous Christian leaders were aware of his behavior but did not intervene.

On Wednesday, President Trump gathered with top Republican lawmakers and Justice Department officials to commemorate the appointment of his 150th federal judge, according to Fox News.

Trump called the occasion a “profoundly historic milestone and a truly momentous achievement.” The Trump administration hopes to appoint 182 federal judges in total. One hundred and twelve of those judges have been confirmed to district courts; 43 to appeals courts and two on the Supreme Court.

“In terms of quality and quantity, we are going to be just about number one by the time we finish—number one of any president, any administration,” Trump continued. “So I want to thank all of you for the incredible job you’ve done. They will uphold our Constitution as written.”

During the celebration, the president handed the stage over to onetime rival Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) who praised Trump for his work.

In a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood, drag queen performers in Washington state mocked pro-lifers and area pastors by auctioning off cardboard cutouts of local Christians. 

According to the Christian Post, the drag queens used large cutouts of the faces of pastors Ken Peters and Afshin Yaghtin, as well as the founder of 500 Mom Strong, Anna Bohach, and lined up on the stage for auction. The highest bidder won each of the “effigies,” Activist Mommy wrote on her blog.

The Planned Parenthood fundraiser was put on by pro-abortion group Spokane United Against Religious Extremism and The Church of Planned Parenthood. According to the group’s Facebook page, its purpose is to act as a “peaceful counter-protest and rising voice to religious extremism that is happening in our community.”

Particularly, the group is “focused on the hateful actions and rhetoric of the Church at Planned Parenthood and their affiliates.”

The Church at Planned Parenthood is a group of pro-life activists who meet in front of a Planned Parenthood building in Washington “for the worship of God and the corporate prayer for repentance for this nation, repentance for the apathetic church and repentance of our blood-guiltiness in this abortion holocaust.”
