Georgia’s abortion rate has declined more than 18 percent over the last 23 years, even as the state’s population has increased, according to state public health statistics reviewed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The 2017 rate—determined by the number of abortions per 1,000 females between the age of 10 and 55—was 8.3, reflecting 27,453 abortions. That is significantly lower than the 33,516 reported abortions in 1994—a rate of 13.7. During the same time frame, George’s population increased from 7 million people to about 10.4 million, according to reporter Maya T. Prabhu.

The article cited numerous possibilities for the decline, including improved access to birth control, the legalization of over-the-counter sale of emergency contraceptives and a 2015 law banning abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Cole Muzio, the executive director of the Family Policy Alliance of Georgia, told AJC that he believes the lower numbers reflect a shift away from a pro-abortion mindset.

“We are in an increasingly pro-life generation and pro-life culture,” he said.

In a show of solidarity, a group of Muslims warned a group of 20 construction workers – mostly Christians – about an impending attack by a jihadist fundamentalist group in Kutulo, Kenya.

According to Premier UK, a group of local Muslims were informed that a jihadist terror group – al-Shabaab – was planning an attack on “non-local Christian workers” building a government hospital in Kutulo. The attack was scheduled for July 21, and when the locals were made aware of the possible assault, they quickly informed the workers to leave the building site. 

The Muslim locals helped the Christian workers evacuate the area before confronting the gunmen when they arrived.

“They confronted the gunmen who proceeded to the site and failed to get what they wanted. [The attackers] opened fire but no one was injured before they escaped,” north-eastern regional commissioner Mohamed Birik told media, according to Premier UK.

According to persecution watchdog Open Doors, the failed attack took place in Mandera County which is near the Kenya-Somalia border. Reportedly, in Somalia, most Christians conceal their faith out of fear of persecution.

Open Doors is calling the act of heroism by the Muslim locals a “show of solidarity.”

A former drag queen who became a Christian is leading the opposition to library-sponsored drag queen story hours and testifying to the life-changing power of his new faith.

Kevin Whitt organized a July protest outside the Grauwyler Park Branch Library in Dallas as it hosted a story hour by two drag queens. Whitt is the director of the Dallas chapter of MassResistance, a socially conservative activist organization.

“I was a transsexual prostitute and drag queen for 20 years,” Whitt said outside the protest. MassResistance posted a video of his testimony. “… I used to perform in every drag venue in Dallas. I used to host my own drag shows for over 20 years. And then … five and a half years ago, I found Jesus and I got set free.”

Whitt’s testimony is detailed in a forthcoming book, God Saved the Queen: A Drag Queen’s Journey from the Stage to the Pulpit.

Whitt said he “was not looking for God.” But God got his attention through “a series of circumstances.”

Senior White House advisor Jared Kushner and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met this week in Jerusalem as part of Kushner’s Middle East tour.

Kushner is President Donald Trump’s son-in-law.

The U.S. Envoy also included Jason Greenblatt, U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, U.S. Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook, and Israel’s Ambassador to the U.S. Ron Dermer.

The delegation is working in the Middle East to finalize details of a $50 billion economic development plan for Palestinians and other parts of the Middle East. According to The Washington Post, Kushner will “report back” to Trump “to discuss the many potential next steps.”

It’s unclear what exactly Kushner and Netanyahu discussed at their meeting. Netanyahu would only say the meeting was “important.”

The U.S. Envoy will also be visiting Egypt, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Kushner will not be meeting with Palestinian representatives.

The Trump Administration has yet to release the Israeli-Palestinian peace plan, but Ambassador Friedman told CNN that the U.S. is “not ready to talk about a Palestinian state.”

“We believe in Palestinian autonomy, we believe in Palestinian self-governance. We believe that autonomy should be extended up until the point where it interferes with Israeli security,” he added.
