‘I Hope It’s True,’ Says President Trump of Claims He Was Appointed to the Presidency by God

President Donald Trump was recently asked in an interview if he believes that he was appointed to the office of the presidency by God “for such a time as this.”

On Monday, CBN News Political Analyst David Brody sat down to discussed a myriad of topics with the President, including his support from evangelicals and claims by some that he was chosen by God for the presidency.

In the interview, Brody noted that former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have both asserted that God put Trump in the White House. He then asked the president if he believed that to be true.

Trump skirted around the question but noted that Dr. Ben Carson had expressed the same sentiment to him while he was running against him in the 2016 Presidential election.

“And he said to me, ‘you know, you’re gonna win,’” Trump said, quoting Carson. “I said, ‘Ben, I’m running against you. What are you telling me?’ He said, ‘you’re going to win because God put you here for this occasion.’”

“I said, ‘what a lovely thing to say.’ That was the first one that I heard, from Ben Carson. And it was during the campaign, I was running against him, and he was saying, I’m gonna win. He’s a very high-quality guy. He’s done a great job in the administration.” Trump told Brody.

When asked again if he bought into the idea of being…

Christians Attacked in Sudan after Incitement by Mosque Leaders in Khartoum

Christians Attacked in Sudan after Incitement by Mosque Leaders in Khartoum

JUBA, South Sudan, June 24, 2020 (Morning Star News) – Following calls from mosque leaders in east Khartoum, Sudan to rid their “Muslim area” of South Sudanese Christians, several Christians were attacked there and in neighboring Omdurman this month, sources said.

At the end of evening prayers at a mosque in the Al-Jerif East area, on the eastern bank of the Blue Nile River in Khartoum’s East Nile Locality, imams on June 6 called for residents to rid Christian South Sudanese from the “Muslim area,” a source who requested anonymity told Morning Star News. Attacks on Christians in the area followed that evening and the next day.

In a separate attack on Saturday (June 20) in Omdurman, across the Nile River west of Khartoum, young Muslim men shouting the jihadist slogan “Allah Akbar [God is greater]” stabbed a Christian to death in a street assault on him and four other South Sudanese in the Shigla area, said another source on condition of anonymity.

Mariel Bang is survived by his wife and four children ranging in age from 1 to 4 years old, the source said. Bang was 35.

Besides the death of Bang, he added, the attack left one of the other South Sudanese Christians in critical condition. The other three Christians assaulted were women who sustained minor injuries, he said.

“We will burn this place,” one of the assailants said, according to the source.

Sigmund Freud dangling by an arm and Jesus at the bottom of the sea: Strange sculptures and the urgency of faith today

Christ of The Abyss statue.

The next time you’re in Prague, look up. You may see a dangling sculpture of Sigmund Freud hanging by an arm from a pole attached to the roof of a building. According to art critics, it was created to question the outsized role of intellectualism in the twentieth century and to portray Freud’s own phobia of his death.

If you’re interested in something more uplifting, visit the United Nations Park in Buenos Aires’s Recoleta neighborhood. There you will find a seventy-five-foot-tall mechanical flower made of stainless steel and aluminum. It opens and closes with the sun and has become one of the most iconic symbols in the city.

These are just two of the “strangest statues in the world,” as described by Travel Trivia. Another is Carhenge, a display in Nebraska of thirty-eight cars from the 1940s and 1950s set up in a manner akin to Stonehenge.

In Chicken, Alaska, we can meet a twelve-foot-tall metal chicken standing on a hill. A twenty-six-foot-tall stainless-steel fork is displayed, tines down, in Lake Geneva. An eighty-five-foot-tall creation in Nice, France, displays a giant cube atop a head which is visible from the mouth and jaw through the neck. The cube houses seven floors of offices of the municipal library.

The sculpture that most interested me is Christ of the Abyss in San Fruttuoso, Italy. It is an 8.5-foot-tall statue of Jesus with his arms and hands raised. The statue is situated at the floor of a bay on the Italian Riviera at a depth of nearly sixty feet.

This is near where an Italian diver died. Every year, on the last Sunday of July, a torch-lit mass is celebrated on the nearby beach to honor those who have died at sea. After the mass, divers secure floral crowns to the base of the underwater statue.

Strange sculptures and the urgency of faith today

Of all the statues in the article, the last is one you cannot see from land. But that makes it no less real. The same is true of…

California Bans State Travel to Idaho Over Law Limiting Girls’ Sports to Biological Girls

California Bans State Travel to Idaho Over Law Limiting Girls’ Sports to Biological Girls

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said Monday the state will bar state-funded travel to Idaho as a result of two new laws, including one that limits participation in girls’ sports to biological girls.

Both Idaho laws have received nationwide attention.

The Idaho Fairness in Women’s Sports Act requires biological sex – and not gender identity – to be used in determining who plays on high school and college sports teams. In Connecticut, two transgender athletes who are biologically male but identity as female won 15 state high school track titles.

The other law, the Idaho Vital Statistics Act, prevents the changing of a person’s sex on a birth certificate.

“Where states legislate discrimination, California unambiguously speaks out,” Becerra said. “The State of Idaho has taken drastic steps to undermine the rights of the transgender community, preventing people from playing sports in school or having documentation that reflects their identity. Let’s not beat around the bush: these laws are plain and simple discrimination.”

California now bans state-funded travel to 12 states it says discriminate against LGBT individuals. The others are Alabama, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Texas.

A press release from Becerra said the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act “overrules…

Employees Accuse Greater New York Planned Parenthood Ex-CEO of Being Racist

Employees Accuse Greater New York Planned Parenthood Ex-CEO of Being Racist

Former and current employees at a New York Planned Parenthood clinic says the ex-CEO of the Greater New York clinic was abusive and had a history of “systemic racism.”

According to Faithwire, Former CEO Laura McQuade was fired from the top spot at the clinic after more than 300 Planned Parenthood current and former employees signed a letter calling for her termination.

“The CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY), Laura McQuade, has proven to be a toxic leader and autocrat, and we, the current and former staff of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, write this letter to demand her immediate removal,” the letter said.

“We are expressing our profound lack of confidence in Laura McQuade, our Chief Officers, and our Board of Directors. In her two-and-a-half-year tenure, McQuade has created a culture of fear and intimidation; we have witnessed her cull dissenters and surround herself with enablers. Through abusive behavior and financial malfeasance, we have watched her fundamentally threaten the fiscal and operational viability of Planned Parenthood’s largest affiliate and its 900 employees.”

McQuade was named CEO of the clinic in 2017. Previously, she was in charge of the Planned Parenthood of the Great Plans affiliate.

Employees reported that McQuade would allegedly “berate” and “yell,” “slam her fists,” and “verbally abuse,”…

Activist Wants Statues of White Jesus Torn Down, Calls Them a ‘Gross Form of White Supremacy’

Activist Wants Statues of White Jesus Torn Down, Calls Them a ‘Gross Form of White Supremacy’

Social justice activist and pastor Shaun King expressed his disdain on social media over Eurocentric statues of Jesus Christ calling them a “gross form of White supremacy” and asserted that they should be removed.

“Yes, I think the statues of the White European they claim is Jesus should also come down,” King wrote on Twitter, Monday, according to CBN News. “They are a form of White supremacy. Always have been.”

King quipped how the Holy Family retreated to Egypt “to hide” and “blend in” instead of going to Denmark.

In addition to statues, the activist also called for the tearing down of “all murals and stained-glass windows of White Jesus, and his European mother, and their White friends.”

“They are a gross form of White supremacy,” he asserted.

King continued his tirade by saying that “White Jesus is a lie” created as “a tool of White supremacy” and “advanced to help White people use the faith as a tool of oppression.”

He added: “They never would’ve accepted a religion from a Brown man.”

King came under heavy fire from…

‘Snitch Police’: Virginia Asks Citizens to Report Churches, Establishments Not Following Coronavirus Orders

‘Snitch Police’: Virginia Asks Citizens to Report Churches, Establishments Not Following Coronavirus Orders

A new Virginia Department of Health webpage that allows citizens to report churches and businesses in violation of the governor’s coronavirus orders has sparked pushback from lawmakers, who say it’s a form of “police snitch” government overreach that could be abused.

The portal on the Department of Health website allows citizens to file a complaint if they “have observed violations of Executive [Order] 63 or Executive Order 65.”

It asks the public to list the establishment’s name and address, along with the date of the alleged violation. A toggle allows the complainant to list the type of establishment, such as “religious service,” “restaurant,” “grocery/convenience store” or “indoor gun range.”

The complainant also is asked to list the type of complaint: people “were not wearing cloth face coverings”; “the number of people present in this establishment was above the current required capacity” or “people in this establishment were not following social distancing guidelines.”

Executive Order 65, issued by Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, limits church capacity to 50 percent and requires individuals to be seated six feet apart. It also prohibits attendees from passing items to non-family members. Executive Order 63 requires the wearing of masks in public facilities.

Balloon will fly you 30 miles above the earth: My dislike of heights and the power of the Spirit

Passenger afraid of heights.

I am not a fan of heights. When I get on an airplane (something I haven’t done in months due to the pandemic), I always try to sit on the aisle. After the plane takes off, I read a book and pretend we’re on the ground until we are.

As a result, I won’t be the first (or last) to welcome this headline: “Company plans space tourism flights in high-altitude balloon.”

A company called Space Perspective plans to operate “Spaceship Neptune” from leased facilities at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. Their huge hydrogen-filled balloon will carry eight passengers at a time on a six-hour flight. These hardy souls will climb to an altitude of about thirty miles, then descend to splashdown in the Atlantic Ocean. There a recovery ship will secure the cabin and crew.

Thirty miles may not sound like much, but it’s nearly twice as high as the supersonic Concorde once flew. (The typical airplane flies at 5.9 to 7.2 miles high.) Passengers will be above 99 percent of our planet’s atmosphere. And they will “enjoy” (according to the article) “two hours at peak altitude, taking in the view through large, wrap-around windows.”

Test flights carrying scientific research payloads are planned for next year. The first flights carrying passengers are expected within the next three-and-a-half years, after piloted test flights are completed. The company is planning “all kinds of live events” and claims that Neptune will be “the best place to get married, ever.”

My dislike of heights and the power of the Spirit

The announcement reminds us that not everything in the world is for everyone. I just purchased a new history of philosophy I’m excited to read, but I’m not sure everyone reading this post would share my enthusiasm. By contrast, billboards in my community are advertising an upcoming concert by Alice Cooper; they’ll have to go on without me.

The challenge is deciding what is opinion and…

Historic St. John’s Church Vandalized Again; Seattle Mayor Calls for End of Protests at Night

Historic St. John’s Church Vandalized Again; Seattle Mayor Calls for End of Protests at Night

Earlier this week, historic St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C., was vandalized when protestors spray-painted “BHAZ” on the church’s 204-year-old columns, according to the Episcopal News Service.

“BHAZ” stands for “Black House Autonomous Zone,” modeled after the Seattle-based movement called “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” (CHAZ).

“There will never be an ‘Autonomous Zone’ in Washington, D.C., as long as I’m your President. If they try they will be met with serious force!” Trump tweeted.

The church has become a center point of controversy between the President and protestors. Only a few weeks prior, the church’s nursery basement was burned by rioters. Cabinet officials and the President, holding a Bible, walked from the White House to the church the next day to show strength, though some saw the move inappropriate.

On Monday, rioters also attempted to pull down a statue of Andrew Jackson in Lafayette Park, according to the Washington Post. Hundreds of protestors linked arms around the statue, chanting “Hey, hey, ho, ho, Andrew Jackson’s got to go.” Over 150 police officers and a low-flying helicopter stopped the crowd from toppling the statue.

“Numerous people arrested in D.C. for the disgraceful vandalism, in Lafayette Park, of the magnificent Statue of Andrew Jackson, in addition to the exterior defacing of St….

3 Bible Verses about Self-Care That Light the Way to Lower Medical Costs

3 Bible Verses about Self-Care That Light the Way to Lower Medical Costs

As Christians, we believe that God created us in His own image, giving each of us our own body to care for. Because our bodies are a gift from God, it’s vital that we take good care of them, so that we can continue to serve the Lord and love others for many years to come. In fact, the importance of taking care of our bodies is conveyed several times throughout the Bible. While there are many significant self-care scriptures, these are our top choices for the best Bible verses related to the health and stewardship of our bodies:

1. BODIES ARE TEMPLES

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”

Possibly the most well-known verse related to taking care of our bodies, this verse from Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians is often pointed to as a way of discouraging Christians from drinking, smoking, overeating, or lack of exercise. While Christians have been given the gift of freedom, we should live in gratitude and avoid unhealthy activities and habits that dishonor our bodies, our Christian service and God.

2. GOD’S SPIRIT DWELLS IN YOU

1 Corinthians 3:16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?”

Very similar to the previous verse,…
