World Vision is providing aid to war torn Ukraine

World Vision says the escalation of conflict in Ukraine has forced more than 3.5 million people – mostly women and children – to flee to neighbouring countries. With the escalating crisis, the casualties, the number of displaced and the needs are growing by the hour. One in five Ukrainian children is now living as a refugee.

Since the conflict started, our teams have been on the ground assessing and responding to the urgent needs of those searching for safety. We are working to support refugees in Romania, Georgia and Moldova as well as internally displaced people in Ukraine.

Our response to date includes providing food, water, hygiene kits to affected families in Ukraine and Romania and we are mobilising teams to meet the needs of growing refugee populations in Georgia and Moldova.

The impact of the crisis will be far-reaching. Both Russia and Ukraine are global suppliers of gas and commodities such as grain. Conflict will create economic shockwaves around the world which could result in significant shortages causing prices to spike, hurting those already struggling to survive.

East Brunswick Community Church is a non-denominational congregation inspired by grace, not driven by guilt, that is working for the good of its community.

Started with the purpose of being a truly local church committed to the well-being of the community, Point Community Church East Brunswick took its final step of the journey by incorporating in October of 2021 as East Brunswick Community Church. EBCC is an independent non-denominational congregation whose mission is to restore people’s faith in God and to work for the good of its community.

In our quick-moving, rapidly-changing, and increasingly isolated culture, it’s easy to feel disconnected to everything and everyone. We want to change that by restoring people’s faith through a relationship with God and others. We are a church that celebrates our diversity, practices hospitality, and strives to provide this world a reason to believe in Jesus by the way we live, love, and serve others. Far too many people have a negative experience with religion and church. At EBCC, we want to change that. We want every person to feel loved by God and welcomed by us the moment they arrive.

Our worship service is causal and lasts about 75-90 minutes. We sing contemporary worship songs and hymns led by our worship team. We start at 10AM but come early or stay late to enjoy some coffee and pastries in a casual and friendly environment. A children’s program is available during our teaching time. Plan to hang around after the service to meet and connect with new people.

EBCC also partners with local organizations like the East Brunswick Interfaith Council, Aldersgate Outreach Community Center, Raritan Valley YMCA, Interfaith-Rise in Highland Park, and Urban Revival in New Brunswick. Additionally, they regularly participate in township sponsored events like the Unity Walk, East Brunswick Day, and local cleanup projects.

Our Sunday worship service takes place at 144 Tices Lane at 10AM but our offices and gatherings such as Youth Group, Men’s Group, and other gatherings happen at 568 Ryders Lane. Charis Bible College to presents a Spring Musical, David: The King of Jerusalem

David: The King of Jerusalem first premiered at Charis Bible College in 2018. Reappearing this year as the college’s spring production, David: The King of Jerusalem offers three showings: April 8 at 7 p.m. and two matinees on April 9 at 1 p.m. and April 10 at 3 p.m.

The musical, written and co-directed by Elizabeth and Robert Muren, portrays how on the eve of a royal banquet in Jerusalem, an elderly King David prepares to choose a successor from among his sons. A sinister conspiracy comes to light that threatens his kingdom and forces the king to flee his city, relying on God as he had in his younger days.
This musical production features a cast of over eighty members of actors, singers, and dancers from Charis Bible College. The songs are written by Elizabeth and Robert Muren, and the musical score is produced by Swedish Charis producer, Jakob Olofsson.

Elizabeth and Robert Muren have cowritten and produced several musicals previously performed in the 3,150-seat auditorium at Charis Bible College, including God with Us, Esther: The Queen of Persia, The Heart of Christmas, and In God We Trust, a musical celebrating Independence Day.

This year’s spring musical, David: The King of Jerusalem, takes the audience on a journey through David’s life from being a young shepherd boy in Bethlehem to being the King of Israel. Powerful musical numbers, large dance scenes, and dramatic film backgrounds create a spectacular experience for young and old alike.

In addition to the musical production, guests and the community are welcomed to visit Charis for the annual Spring Market, featuring local handmade and hand-crafted goods. The Spring Market is free and open to all before, during, and after each showing of the musical.

Singer/songwriter, and newest Centricity Music artist, Katy Nichole, hits No. 1 this week with “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart. Her viral debut single has also topped the iTunes Christian & Gospel Songs chart for eight consecutive weeks so far, never leaving No. 1 since it released Jan. 26.

Sam Collier, the first-ever African American lead pastor of a Hillsong church, has announced he is stepping down from his position as a slew of scandals continue to surround the church and its founder, Brian Houston.

Collier, who with his wife, Toni, led the Atlanta, Georgia-based branch of Hillsong, announced his departure from the church on Wednesday afternoon.

“It is with great sadness that I inform you of my departure from Hillsong.

I have appreciated the Hillsong family and want to thank the Houstons for the love they have shown Toni and me.

My greatest reason for stepping down as Pastor of Hillsong Atlanta is probably not a secret to any of you. With all of the documentaries, scandals, articles, accusations and the church’s subsequent management of these attacks it’s become too difficult to lead and grow a young Church in this environment.

I have no shame in admitting I cried like a baby moments after I informed the Hillsong global pastor of my departure.

I truly love the Hillsong family and believe they will get through this storm and come out better than they were before.

One’s relationship with God can manifest in various ways. While many people simply choose to walk with God on their own journey of life, others burn with passion for God’s work and commit their lives to serving people in His name. Alger and Gloria Marsh are two such people. Their faith and conviction have led them to give back to their community by starting House of Myrrh Ministries (heartchange.org), a Christian organization dedicated to helping others experience Christ and reach spiritual and emotional growth.

In Christian thought, helping others is one of the highest forms of love as it is a proof of unselfishness and generosity towards humans. Jesus spoke of loving one’s neighbor and helping the weak and thus giving back to the community not only reflects the nature of God, but it is also an essential part of faith. The modern world has become too complex for any of us to understand and many people often lose their way and faith and find themselves in a need of an assistance. Spiritual and religious help from Christian support groups and ministries is now more important than ever as they seek to serve the needs of a human soul by bringing together people and the church. Their faith-based initiatives dedicated to spiritual development provide people with a sense of purpose and help them find their footing in these unpredictable times.

Based in Oregon City, House of Myrrh Ministries has helped and brought joy to many people seeking a God focused change by conducting various interactive workshops on a donation basis. Founded and led by Alger and Gloria Marsh, the organization brings together people of God and offers them the experience of spiritual healing and transformation through God’s love and truth. Their love for God inspires them every day to serve the people around them and their mission is to work with Jesus and share this life-changing experience with all communities.

The Scripture inspired workshops are conveniently structured to help people find exactly what they seek. For example, the HeartChange workshop is an opportunity to experience God and the abundance He brings by healing one’s wounds and growing spiritually. On the other hand, married couples might best benefit by participating in the HeartsTogether workshop to honor God in their relationship and to move to greater unity and intimacy with one another. People struggling with finding their purpose and meaning of life can join the HeartDesing workshop, where they can discover God’s unique design and develop a personal mission. Even children are included in the House of Myrrh Ministries’ program and are welcome to join in the Kids HeartChange workshop designed specifically for youth.

Additionally, the Christian organization also conducts home bible and ministry groups aimed at encouraging growth through communication and human interaction within the community. For people who would like to fulfill their desires to walk with God while also working for Him, House of Myrrh Ministries offers training as an opportunity to become workshop volunteers or leaders as well.

These and many other workshops and prayer events of the Christian organization have received great praise from their supporters and followers and thus their community grew in numbers and strength. The workshops are now being offered and conducted outside of Oregon as well and people who are interested in spiritual development with God can find the available time and place on the organization’s official website at www.heartchange.org. Anybody is invited to join their loving and truth-filled workshops and encounter God in their own way.

Although the workshops are offered free of charge, the organization relies on support and donations from the community to help them make their workshops available and continue the God’s work. People who are not able to give financially are always welcome to contribute in other ways.
