Amelia prepares to save Dr. Herman’s life, on Grey’s Anatomy

Christian Post Report – This week on “Grey’s Anatomy,” Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) thinks she might be in over her head as she tries to save Dr. Nicole Herman’s (Geena Davis) life. Meanwhile, Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) does an extremely difficult procedure by herself, and the results will dictate whether she can take over for Dr. Herman.

Amelia is overwhelmed as she prepares to perform surgery on Dr. Herman. Stephanie finds Amelia staring at the ceiling, with her hands on her hips, and Amelia tells her that she’s in a superhero pose. She says that she once read that standing in that pose before a challenging task can help make you more confident and help you perform better. Stephanie joins her, and they both do the superhero pose.

The viewing room overlooking the operating table where Amelia will do the surgery is packed. Everyone in the hospital has been talking about how difficult it is to remove Dr. Herman’s brain tumor, so naturally they wanted to see what’s going to happen. At this point, Amelia begins to do the surgery.

Meanwhile, Arizona is doing surgery on a fetus—still inside its mother’s womb. Bailey previously fought for Dr. Herman to save the baby, and now, the task has been handed off to Arizona. Arizona is losing confidence as she imagines seeing Herman calling her a failure. Not helping matters is Bailey, who keeps on badgering her. Finally, Arizona tells Bailey to shut up, as one tiny slip of her hand could kill the mother, or the baby. Later, Arizona manages to save the baby and the mother, which makes Bailey very happy.

Dr. Webber visits Amelia at the operating room, and she begs him to call her brother, Derek, to have him on the next plane to Seattle to perform the surgery on Herman. Webber refuses to call Derek, and he says while he knows that Derek will be more than willing to do the surgery, there’s a chance that the surgery might go badly as it was Amelia who planned out the whole procedure.

Webber’s words have a positive effect on Amelia, and she goes right back to the operating room. Later, Amelia hits a snag as her protective gloves, designed to protect her from radiation during the procedure, starts giving her trouble. She whips off the gloves and is exposed to the radiation for 15 minutes.

The tumor is removed. At the end of the episode, Herman opens her eyes. Amelia and Arizona remove her breathing tubes and they go over the post brain surgery evaluation. Herman manages to do all that, but she’s not 100 percent perfect—Herman is blind.

“Grey’s Anatomy” airs on Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC

‘Star Wars Rebels’ News: Season 1 Finale Ushers in What’s in Store for Season 2

Star Wars Rebels

As season one of the animated TV series “Star Wars: Rebels” ended with a finale episode last March 2, some of these major events happened to usher in what will happen in the next season. Showrunner David Filoni discussed major events and where season two is headed.

Christian Post Report – Season one’s finale featured a major character’s death and another major character’s return. The character who dies in the final episode is The Inquisitor, who was tasked by Darth Vader to hunt down all remaining Jedi in the galaxy. He kills himself by hurling himself into an explosion, after he was defeated by Jedi Kanan Jarrus.

Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi, returns in the final episode, much to the surprise of the show’s protagonists. All the while, she was hiding behind the identity of an informant of Hera Syndulla, helping the rebels by providing information about Imperial activities and supplies. Ahsoka is also a Padawan of Anakin Skywalker (or Darth Vader).

With Ahsoka’s return comes the possibility of a confrontation between her and her master Darth Vader. Filoni however told IGN that “a collision course” such as this will not likely happen anytime soon. While Ahsoka will play a major role in the continuing story of the rebels, Filoni says that the next season will still focus on the “back stories” of the core group of Lothal rebels, the crew of the starship Ghost.

The Inquisitor’s death, according to Filoni, also emphasizes the difference between the Inquisitors and the Sith. The Inquisitor apparently chose death because he realized his failure to do his duty will bring a punishment from Darth Vader that is worse than death. Filoni said this about the Sith: “A Sith sees death as an absolute. They’ll do anything to avoid it because there’s nothing for them after death and they know this.” And with the Inquisitor’s death, Filoni expects that a true Sith will take over. But he also said that it’s not going to be Darth Vader but some other Sith villain.

According to Filoni, if season one is like “A New Hope” for rebels, season two will be like “Empire Strikes Back,” where our heroes are “starting to pass through this new part of their journey and things become ratcheted up, more exciting, more adventure; but darker, more dangerous like you would expect.”

“Stars Wars: Rebels” was renewed for a second season in 2014 and is expected to return later this year.

‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 8: Episode 17 Recap ‘The Colonization Application’

The Big Bang Theory CBS/ The Big Bang Theory

Sheldon and Amy tell Leonard and Penny that they’re going to get a pet turtle, on The Big Bang Theory.

Christian Post Report – This week on “The Big Bang Theory,” Amy and Sheldon take a big step in their relationship, while Raj confesses to Emily that he has been snooping through her things. Amy also learns that Sheldon has applied for the Mars project, and towards the end of the episode, the show featured a touching tribute to the late Leonard Nimoy.

In “The Colonization Application”, Sheldon and Amy decide that it’s time to take a big step in their relationship. Right now, they feel it’s the right time to get a turtle. They head to the pet store, and they talk about arrangements for their pet. Amy tells the turtle that he’ll be staying with her during Comic-Con, and Sheldon tells Giuseppe that he might get to live permanently with Amy if Sheldon’s application to live on Mars is accepted.

Amy gets upset and asks Sheldon why he didn’t tell her that he applied to be a colonist on another planet. Amy says that she would never have approved if she knew about it before, and Sheldon says that he made the right choice not to tell her.

Meanwhile, Raj is over at Emily’s place. He has the whole house to himself, and he decides to do a little bit of snooping. While doing so, he accidentally breaks a drawer on her nightstand. Panicked, he calls Howard to walk him through how to repair the drawer. But later, Raj tells Emily what happened, and she tells him not to look in her closet.

Sheldon and Amy return to his apartment, and Sheldon gets nipped on the nose by Giuseppe. Amy tells him that if one itty bitty bite from a turtle will bother him, then there’s no way that he can survive on Mars. Amy sulks, and Sheldon tries to placate her by bringing her tea and playing the “Star Trek” theme on his nose.

Later, Sheldon shows Amy his video application. Then, he asks her if she’s set on the future taking place on earth. He tells Amy to apply for the Mars trip with him, so that they would be together.

Touched, Amy anticipates living, working, and having children on Mars. Sheldon is in awe once Amy tells him that their children would be Martians.

The episode closed with a photo of Leonard Nimoy accompanied by the caption, “The impact you had on our show and on our lives is everlasting.” Nimoy died on Friday at the age of 83. Though the “Star Trek” actor never appeared on the show, he did provide his voice to an episode, bringing to life Sheldon’s Mr. Spock action figure.

“The Big Bang Theory” airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Samsung Galaxy S6 vs LG G Flex 2: Comparison of Specs, Features

Samsung Galaxy S6 Youtube Screenshot/ file

Samsung Galaxy S6

Christian Post Report – 2015 is turning out to be a good year for tech manufacturers and techies as new devices have been released to great fanfare at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada on January and at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week.

Two of the most anticipated devices are LG’s G Flex 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S6. The G Flex 2 made its debut at CES 2015, and many were impressed with its ability to bend and flex just like its predecessor, but the phone features a lot of improvements on the previous model.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S6 launched at the 2015 MWC, and Samsung’s new flagship phone underwent a dramatic—and welcome—change in design and has amazing specs that could firmly place it on top of every best smartphone of the year lists.

Here, we compare the two handsets.

Design:
The LG G Flex 2 is lighter, thinner, and more flexible than its predecessor. Pushing down on the phone will cause it to flatten, but as soon as any weight or pressure is off the device, it springs back into its curved shape right away. The phone has a self-healing coat, making scuffs and scratches a thing of the past. The phone measures 5.9 x 3 x 0.4 inches and weighs 5.4 ounces. The handset comes in Flamingo Red and Platinum Silver.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S6 now has a metal body, very different from the previous plastic builds of past models. The phone is a tad smaller and lighter than the G Flex 2 as it measures 5.6 x 2.8 x 0.27 and weighs 4.9 ounces. It’s also available in more colors such as White Pearl, Gold Platinum, Black Sapphire, and Blue Topaz.

Features:
The G Flex 2 has a bigger display than the Galaxy S6, but the Samsung phone wins when it comes to screen resolution. The G Flex 2 has a 5.5-inch screen with a 1080p resolution and pixel density of 403ppi, while the Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and pixel density of 557ppi.

The LG phone comes in two storage options, 16GB and 32GB, which LG claims can be expanded up to 2TB with a microSD card. Samsung has done away with the microSD card slot for the S6, but it comes in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB variants.

The Samsung phone also dominates when it comes to cameras. The S6 has a 16MP rear camera and 5MP front shooter, while the LG phone has a 13MP rear camera and 2.1MP front facing camera.

Price:
Off contract, the LG G Flex 2 costs $699.60, while the Samsung Galaxy S6 will reportedly cost $855 for the 32GB model, $970 for the 64GB variant, and $1,085 for the 128GB model when it goes on sale in April.

Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Fight News 2015: Rapper 50 Cent Placing $1.6 Million Bet on Mayweather to Win

50 Cent (Photo:Reuters/Danny Moloshok)

Rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson arrives at the premiere of “Real Steel” in Los Angeles October 2, 2011.

Christian Post Report – American rapper and actor 50 Cent has just declared a $1.6 million bet on boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. to beat Filipino fighter, Manny Pacquiao at their Las Vegas superfight on May 2.

Entrepreneur investor, actor and rapper, 50 Cent says he is placing a bet of $1.6 million on undefeated American boxer, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. to beat Filipino eight-division champ, Manny Pacquiao during their May 2 match at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

“Champ ‘gon smoke em… it’s gonna look like it was pumped up for no reason,” 50 Cent told the Breakfast Club at Power 105.1. “He focused right now.”

The rapper’s support for Mayweather may be based on the undefeated WBA and WBC welterweight champ emerging as the 2-and-a-half-to-1 favorite to win the long anticipated bout.

50 Cent discussed the upcoming fight, revealing he spoke with the American fighter at a Chris Brown concert last February, and admitted Mayweather appeared to be extremely focused on the upcoming fight.

The rapper’s betting an unprecedented amount on Mayweather has puzzled boxing fans, who recall 50 Cent posting disparaging remarks about the boxer on social media the previous year. He criticized everything from his lavish lifestyle to his IQ level.

50 Cent also slammed Mayweather for his publicly revealed low regard for hip-hop artists, particularly Nelly and T.I. The “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” performer countered with a tweet that one of the women romantically linked to the boxer was rapper Nelly’s ex-girlfriend, while Mayweather’s former fiancee, Shantel Jackson, has ended up as Nelly’s current partner.

With 50 Cent placing a huge amount in favor of Mayweather’s win, boxing fans are speculating the rapper may be offering an olive branch to end their social media feud.

‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 4 Spoilers: Part 2 Plot Round Up

Once Upon A Time Facebook/ Once ABC

An official poster for Once Upon a Time Season 4

Christian Post Report – “Once Upon A Time” Season 4 recently returned for the second half of the season. The second part of Season 4 premiered March 1. The first half of the season ended Dec. 14 last year so there is much anticipation about what will happen next. The American fairy tale drama series continues the story of fairy tale characters who are living in the real world, in the town of Storybrooke.

NBC released a video clip from the March 1 premiere showing the gathering of the three Evil Queens (Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella) by the series’ longtime villain, Rumpelstiltskin, leading some spoiler reports to say that these three will play a crucial part in the story for the rest of the season.

Zap2it has compiled a list of spoilers in their website. First up, the list has a few things to say about the villains in the series. Aside from Evil Queen Regina, who is also the Storybrooke mayor, the Queens of Darkness: Ursula, Maleficent and Cruella; will definitely make things more interesting. Cruella, who is traditionally seen as somebody devoid of any magical powers, will have some magic up her sleeves this season.

Emma, one of the main characters in the series, will also be shown with a capacity for darkness. The show’s creators had earlier revealed that “second half of the season will be about redefining what hero and villain mean.” Another character close to Emma is said to be returning this season. Lily, who is Emma’s childhood friend, has a whole episode named after her so her return is a major one.

Robin Hood is expected to come back this season but in present day, instead of flashbacks. There may still be a possibility that he will return for Regina.

While the report cites that there will be new villains, these new villains will be given new backstories. Rather than follow the original backstories they had in Disney, the series will provide its own backstories that will make for more interesting characters.

There is love brewing in the series and it’s not what people are expecting, according to the report. It is going to be between Emma and Hook, and it will develop as the rest of season goes on.

The report notably mentions that the theme of the second half of the season is “What makes a hero or villain?” and this will cause some tension among the key characters when it comes to choosing which side to join. Snow White and Prince Charming, according to the report, will experience a moral dilemma in this regard.

Google Play Store Wikimedia Commons/Image

Android device users have their pick from over millions of software applications available in app stores online. With the proliferation of apps in the market, many people miss out on a number of useful but lesser known software compared to their heavily advertised counterparts.

Christian Post Report – With Google Play Store and the Apple App Store filled with millions of apps, users often have their pick from exceptional and not so exceptional software applications. TechRepublic has searched through this trove to come up with five obscure but extremely user-beneficial apps:

Ambio – people traveling in unfamiliar locations may often find themselves sleepless in a strange bed in the middle of a strange place. Ambio is an app that provides ambient sound to help business or leisure travelers focus on a task, or sleep soundly, particularly in less-than-comfortable hotel surroundings.

RedLaser Barcode and QR Scanner – with the proliferation of online shopping, money-wise frugalists will find a price comparison shopping app a useful piece of software to get the best bang for their buck. Total Commander – despite its not-so-pretty presentation, Total Commander is one of the best file manager apps in existence today. With a built-in properties dialogue, text editor, support for FTP/sFTP/WebDAV/OBEX and cloud services plug-ins, users can search files, copy and even move entire subdirectories, rar, zip and unzip files, as well as drag and drop items, among other options.

ProxyDroid – a free app that allows users to set a proxy on their Android device very easily, whether for one app or several. It supports authentication from basic to NTLM and NTLMv2 methods, provides for FTP/sFTP/WebDAV/OBEX proxy, and allows for multiple profile set up.

Greenify – this app helps users identify misbehaving apps on their device and effectively put them in hibernation to help keep battery life from premature drain-out. While other apps prevent users from using these hibernated apps, Greenify allows use of the suspect software, then immediately puts them to sleep when not in use.

Could Working Out Be Considered an Act of Worship?

Fitness Competitor (Photo:REUTERS/Bernadett Szabo)

A competitor poses during a Fitness and Bodybuilding European Championship.

Christian Post Report – Why should physical fitness be a mundane or dreaded activity if you can spend time exalting God while doing so?

While some may raise their eyebrows at this notion, others are making this budding belief system their reality. Celebrities such as Kierra Sheard, the 27-year-old gospel singer who released her fifth studio album Graceland last summer, recognize the power of incorporating fitness and faith.

Sheard recently took to Instagram to let fans know that she was working on her fitness. The daughter of Grammy Award-winning singer Karen Clark Sheard and Bishop J. Drew Sheard of the Greater Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Detroit, encouraged her social media followers by letting them know that they can worship by exercising.

“How you treat your body is even an act of worship! Let’s go! #motivation #workoutMusic,” Kierra wrote to over 250,000 followers on Instagram. “Get your heart where it should be! Cancel out diseases and health issues! #GO.”

Despite being touted by people like Sheard, the concept of worshiping God while working out may raise questions for Christians and nonbelievers alike. Although the Bible does not provide detailed workout plans, it may give people some insight about how to take care of their bodies.

In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 it states, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s (KJV).”

Michelle Spadafora, the President and Founder of Faithful Workouts, looks to this Scripture as an example of God telling His people to glorify Him with their bodies. While some exercise to maintain good health, others do so to show their newly chiseled and slimmed down bodies off to the world.

The fitness expert points out scriptures such as 1 Samuel 16:7 to prove God doesn’t care about outward appearances and Proverbs 29:23 to provide an example in Scripture where God detests pride. However, Spadafora believes it is important to develop the right motives for working out in order to exalt God with exercise.

“If our sole reason for exercising and eating healthy is to have a great-looking body that will impress others, then our actions are not in line with God’s will and it is not a form of worship,” Spadafora told The Christian Post. “However, if we are taking proper care of our body because we want to be at our best for God’s service, it is absolutely a form of worship. I am not saying it’s a bad thing to have a healthy, strong-looking body, but that shouldn’t be our main focus.”

Spadafora’s Faithful Workouts is a non-profit ministry that designs faith-centered fitness regiments for people by providing exercise videos, hundreds of recipes, cooking videos, menu plans, faith-based music and inspirational messages. While the fitness expert has been in the industry for 30 years, she started making her Christian faith the forefront of her workouts in 2007.

Now, Spadafora has developed her own methods for helping people “finally break free from fitness frustration” in a Godly way by using the ABC’s. The “A” in the fitness expert’s plan stands for “ask,” a concept that is outlined in biblical Scriptures such as John 16:24 and Matthew 7:7.

“Why is it so many Christians don’t ask for God’s help in every area of our lives, including healthy dieting and exercise? The truth is, He cares about all parts of your life,” Spadafora told CP. “When we ask God to help us and our motives are in line with His will, He will help us.”

The “B” in her method stands for “believe,” since Spadafora insists it is important to understand that confidence should come from a belief in God’s word and power to transform. The “C” stands for people “checking their motives.”

Aside from the ABC’s, Spadafora finds that exercising is a great time to listen to music, or God’s word.

“Not only does it motivate me to push harder, it also keeps my focus on God. When we exercise, chemical changes happen in our brain which allows us to retain more information,” she told CP. “So when I listen to Christian music while exercising, the lyrics of the song are getting into my mind and I end up singing God’s praises throughout my day.”

This concept is not foreign to people such as Jill Dillard from TLC’s “19 Kids & Counting” who has been vocal about listening to sermons while working out pregnant.

“Walking at the gym this morning while listening to a sermon by Pastor Rick Warren on the #OnePlace app!” Dillard posted to Instagram with a photo of herself last January.

Eric Nordhoff, the founder of SpiritFit Music, uses his company to provide a variety of workout music mixes for personal workouts and fitness classes. The clean lyrics and various styles of fitness music are produced from a Christian worldview.

After working for Christian music record labels for 10 years, Nordhoff decided to start his business in 2010 in order to encourage believers in their personal workouts. He spoke to The Christian Post about some practical suggestions people can use to worship while working out.

“While working out, try listening to uplifting and encouraging music … music that feeds your soul, music you can worship to, ” he told CP. “Try to focus on your relationship with Christ and how good He is to you while you’re working out. If you’re alone, you could even try singing to Him or think of Him as your workout buddy.”

Nordhoff likens physical fitness to people giving a gift back to God.

“We were made to be in balance, perfect harmony: body, mind and spirit. It takes discipline and self-denial to do a workout that really changes your body, and the feeling you get when you’ve accomplished it is (like) no other,” he told CP. “It’s almost a spiritual experience and so much more when we know as believers what Christ first did for us. It’s truly a gift back to Him when we complete a good workout and take care of the very thing He has given to us.”

‘He-Man: Masters of the Universe’ News: Battle Cat Concept Art Revealed

A tweet of what may possibly be He-Man’s Battle Cat from the live-action reboot of “Masters of the Universe” has just been released on Twitter.

Christian Post Report – With scarce details emerging from the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” live action reboot after the commercial failure of the 1987 film with Dolph Lundgren as the titular He-Man, an image of the popular comic book’s steed, Battle Cat has just been revealed on social media.

* Name DeVon Franklin/Twitter

DeVon Franklin, Sony/Columbia Pictures’ Senior VP of Production unveiled a sepia-toned photo of an armor-clad feline that could possibly be the studios’ “Master of the Universe” concept art for Battle Cat.

The released image sparked a flurry of speculations on social media on whether it was an official teaser of He-Man’s actual steed, with a number of reactions praising the classic design and tough-stance of the iconic fighting mount, while expressing their anticipation for the film’s release.

In another tweet from Franklin, it was revealed development on the He-Man reboot would be entirely dependent on recently named Sony Pictures’ Chairman, Tim Rothman.

Earlier on, Franklin released the title logo for the proposed reboot on his Twitter feed, with the promise of more updates on the live action movie.

After a troubling set of stops and starts since 2007 when John Woo was rumored to be developing a reboot, no director has yet been named to helm the film. Sony bought the rights to He-Man from Warner Bros. in 2009, and announced “Kung Fu Panda” director, John Stevenson would be taking over.

In 2012, “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” helmsman, Jon M. Chu was signed on to direct, with original He-man, Lundgren presented with a possible role as King Randor. In 2014, several filmmakers were announced as front runners to direct, with no decision from the studio at present on the live action reboot of the ’80s popular children’s cartoon character.
