‘Modern Family’ Season 6: Episode 17 Recap ‘Closet? You’ll Love It!’

Modern Family ABC/ Modern Family

Christian Post Report – Phil, Luke, and Manny take on a drone on Modern Family

This week on “Modern Family,” a peeping Tom in the neighborhood uses a drone to spy on Gloria sunbathing, and Phil, Luke, and Manny do all they can to take it down. Lily is preparing to perform at a school talent show, but Cam is more worried about it than she is, because Lily is tone deaf. Meanwhile, Haley’s feelings for Andy become clearer as he gets rushed to the hospital with appendicitis, and Jay pulls out an old slogan for a TV commercial for his business.

Jay is irritated that his business rival has come up with a catchy commercial, and he and Claire decide to make one of their own too. Jay insists on using an old slogan that he came up with years ago, “Closets? You’ll love it!” Claire thinks that the slogan is no good and doesn’t even make any sense, but Jay stubbornly goes ahead with it. At the ad shoot, the team agrees that Jay is not the ideal spokesperson because he sounds grumpy. Claire confronts Jay and he starts to question himself. He feels bad because he’s thinking that he’s turning into his own grumpy father that no one in the family liked.

Lily is preparing for her school’s talent show, and Cam, the musical one in the family, feels that her performance will go on without a hitch. The trouble is, Lily is tone deaf and is unable to carry a tune. This worries Cam, and later Mitch finds out that he’s worried about it because Cam’s old rival has a daughter who’ll also be in the talent show.

At the talent show, Lily is calmly eating a snack while Cam and Mitch make a fuss. Later, Lily gets a case of the jitters and tells them that she doesn’t want to be in the talent show anymore. Only when their rivals pull out their daughter from the talent show do Cam and Mitch agree to take Lily out of it too.

Meanwhile, the neighborhood peeping Tom gets creative and uses a drone to spy on Gloria while she’s sunbathing. Manny, Luke, and Phil try to get rid of it, and at one point Phil falls into the pool. Finally, Gloria, who has had enough, pulls out a gun and fires at the drone.

Haley is questioning Andy whether his girlfriend Beth is real.

“So this Beth, who I’ve never met, is she one of those real-life move around girls?” Haley asks.

Then, Andy is rushed to the hospital, it turns out he has appendicitis. Haley visits him at the hospital and finds him alone. As Andy, heavily medicated, lies on the bed, Haley pours out all her feelings for him. However, Beth shows up, and Haley looks extremely disappointed. After Haley leaves, Andy opens his eyes and looks at the door mournfully. He heard every word.

“Modern Family” will be on hiatus for a few weeks and will be back on March 25, 9 p.m. on ABC.

‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 4, Part 2 Spoilers Round Up

Once Upon A Time Facebook/ Once ABC

An official poster for Once Upon a Time Season 4

Christian Post Report – “Once Upon A Time” Season 4 recently returned for the second half of the season. The second part of Season 4 premiered March 1. The first half of the season ended Dec. 14 last year so there is much anticipation about what will happen next. The American fairy tale drama series continues the story of fairy tale characters who are living in the real world, in the town of Storybrooke.

NBC released a video clip from the March 1 premiere showing the gathering of the three Evil Queens (Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella) by the series’ longtime villain, Rumpelstiltskin, leading some spoiler reports to say that these three will play a crucial part in the story for the rest of the season.

Zap2it has compiled a list of spoilers in their website. First up, the list has a few things to say about the villains in the series. Aside from Evil Queen Regina, who is also the Storybrooke mayor, the Queens of Darkness: Ursula, Maleficent and Cruella; will definitely make things more interesting. Cruella, who is traditionally seen as somebody devoid of any magical powers, will have some magic up her sleeves this season.

Emma, one of the main characters in the series, will also be shown with a capacity for darkness. The show’s creators had earlier revealed that “second half of the season will be about redefining what hero and villain mean.” Another character close to Emma is said to be returning this season. Lily, who is Emma’s childhood friend, has a whole episode named after her so her return is a major one.

Robin Hood is expected to come back this season but in present day, instead of flashbacks. There may still be a possibility that he will return for Regina.

While the report cites that there will be new villains, these new villains will be given new backstories. Rather than follow the original backstories they had in Disney, the series will provide its own backstories that will make for more interesting characters.

There is love brewing in the series and it’s not what people are expecting, according to the report. It is going to be between Emma and Hook, and it will develop as the rest of season goes on.

The report notably mentions that the theme of the second half of the season is “What makes a hero or villain?” and this will cause some tension among the key characters when it comes to choosing which side to join. Snow White and Prince Charming, according to the report, will experience a moral dilemma in this regard.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Release Date, Specs Rumors: September 2015 Prediction, May Have the Edge

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Youtube Screenshot/ file

Samsung Galaxy Note 5

Christian Post Report – Barely a year has passed since Samsung released its flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 4 in September 2014, that rumors began circulating that Samsung is working on its next flagship large screen phone, the Galaxy Note 5. According to early reports, the Note 5 will be released in the third quarter of 2015.

A report in PC Advisor said that September was a likely month for the release, since the Note 4 was released in same month last year. It’s considered good timing as the release will be done before any announcement from its main competitor, Apple, as well as its early enough for the Christmas shopping season.

Some websites who are on the lookout for any rumor about specifications and design are already predicting that the Note 5 will run on an octacore Snapdragon 810 processor, but there are also some who are saying that given Samsung’s preference for its own chipset, it may instead use its Exynos 7420 which has four Cortex-A57 cores and four Cortex-A53. There is also the history of Snapdragon chipsets overheating in earlier tests conducted by Samsung.

Design-wise, some websites are predicting that the Note 5 may outdo the Note 4. Some concept designs have been circulating and one of them shows a phablet with a curved metal body. Another report said that it may feature the same “edge” as the Galaxy Note Edge.

In terms of camera power, most reports are predicting that the new phablet will have better cameras: as powerful as 21MP for the rear-facing camera and 6MP for the front-facing camera. Storage capacity are still pretty much guesses, with some saying that it will have as little as 16G or as much as 128G internal storage and 4G RAM.

Battery capacity is also crucial, especially for a phone with tablet functions. PC Advisor expects a 4000mAh battery cell with the Note 5, as well as a special battery-saving feature. As for the phone display, one site says that the screen will be bigger: 6 inches and will sport a higher resolution.

Price predictions for the Note 5 range from $760 to $912.

5 Little-Known But Useful Android Apps

Google Play Store Wikimedia Commons/Image

Android device users have their pick from over millions of software applications available in app stores online. With the proliferation of apps in the market, many people miss out on a number of useful but lesser known software compared to their heavily advertised counterparts.

Christian Post Report – With Google Play Store and the Apple App Store filled with millions of apps, users often have their pick from exceptional and not so exceptional software applications. TechRepublic has searched through this trove to come up with five obscure but extremely user-beneficial apps:

Ambio – people traveling in unfamiliar locations may often find themselves sleepless in a strange bed in the middle of a strange place. Ambio is an app that provides ambient sound to help business or leisure travelers focus on a task, or sleep soundly, particularly in less-than-comfortable hotel surroundings.

RedLaser Barcode and QR Scanner – with the proliferation of online shopping, money-wise frugalists will find a price comparison shopping app a useful piece of software to get the best bang for their buck. The app trawls the Internet to present users with the best possible prices, local pricing, product facts, reviews, and even allergen information details for food items. Users can also scan their loyalty cards using the app using its ultra fast barcode scanner.

Total Commander – despite its not-so-pretty presentation, Total Commander is one of the best file manager apps in existence today. With a built-in properties dialogue, text editor, support for FTP/sFTP/WebDAV/OBEX and cloud services plug-ins, users can search files, copy and even move entire subdirectories, rar, zip and unzip files, as well as drag and drop items, among other options.

ProxyDroid – a free app that allows users to set a proxy on their Android device very easily, whether for one app or several. It supports authentication from basic to NTLM and NTLMv2 methods, provides for FTP/sFTP/WebDAV/OBEX proxy, and allows for multiple profile set up.

Greenify – this app helps users identify misbehaving apps on their device and effectively put them in hibernation to help keep battery life from premature drain-out. While other apps prevent users from using these hibernated apps, Greenify allows use of the suspect software, then immediately puts them to sleep when not in use.

ISIS Trafficker Charged With Forcing Syrian Refugee Girls Into Prostitution Ring in Southern Turkey

Christian Women, Sex Slaves, Iraq (Photo: Twitter)

Christian Post Report – These Christian women were chained and forced to wear veils by ISIS militants in Iraq.

Turkish authorities have charged an alleged Islamic State human trafficker with forcing Syrian refugee children, seeking safety from the terror group’s wrath, into a prostitution ring in Southern Turkey.

In investigating an Islamic State attack last March that killed a police officer and Turkish soldier in the town of Niğde, local detectives uncovered communications between 29-year-old Ahmet Yumuşak and potential clients about the price of sex with underage Syrian refugee girls, the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet reported.

Turkish authorities, who have often been criticized for not doing enough to quell the flow of potential ISIS extremists across its borders into Syria, believe that Yumuşak was involved in the March ISIS attack and also accused him of helping to smuggle jihadi recruits into Syria to join the militant group.

In trying to get to the bottom of the attack, investigators discovered in wiretapped phone conversations that Yumuşak had made arrangements for Syrian refugee girls looking to flee the country to have sex with his “customers” through his prostitution ring in the southern region of Hatay. The report states that Yumuşak would discuss the prices with his customers and would would make recommendations like “the 16-year-old one is terrific.”

It is unknown as of now how many girls Yumuşak led into his prostitution ring and how old, on average, they were. Along with Yumuşak, 10 others have been charged for their involvement in the March ISIS attack.

Another suspect named Ayhan Orli was also charged for using his connections in the Hatay region to acquire an aluminum powder that is often used to make explosives.

Authorities claim that Orli procured at least 50 kilograms of the substance and gave it to a local police officer who then smuggled it into Syria. It is believed that the powder eventually wound up in the hands of the Syrian Islamist rebel group Ahrar ash-Sham.

Although NATO member Turkey has received scrutiny for not doing enough to stop extremists from flowing into Syria, the country banned the crossing of the Turkey-Syria border last summer, only providing an exception for Syrian citizens.

But with over 12,000 Turkish nationals having joined ISIS already, extremists looking to join the Islamic State or other militant groups in Syria have been successful in faking Syrian documents and fooling Turkish border agents into allowing them to cross the border.

As the Turkey-Syria border has become the most common route for would-be jihadis into the group’s caliphate, The Daily Mail reports that one of the biggest access points to the caliphate is crossing the border near the Turkish border town of Akcakale into the Syrian region of Tel Abiad, which was seized by ISIS and is located about 60 miles from the group’s Syrian stronghold of Raqqa.

Kelsey Grammer Plays Diseased Tyrant Herod the Great in National Geographic’s ‘Killing Jesus’ (PHOTOS)

Christian Post Report – “Killing Jesus,” premiering this month on the National Geographic Channel, is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard. In the television dramatization, the described “great king and warrior” Herod the Great is portrayed by Emmy Award-winning actor Kelsey Grammer — long admired by fans for his television persona Dr. Frasier Crane.

Grammer (“Cheers,” “Frasier”) was noted as saying during a press event by the Los Angeles Times that Herod “wasn’t necessarily evil — he was just a guy who had to do some despicable things to maintain a balance of power.”

Kelsey Grammer as Herod the Great, the Roman appointed leader of Judea during Jesus’ birth. He enacts an execution order in Bethlehem for all male children under the age of 2, based on a belief that one of these children will be the next King of the Jews.

Though Herod the Great died not long after Jesus’ birth, in “Killing Jesus,” as well as in the biblical account, the ruler plays a pivotal role in the early life of the god-man worshipped as savior by more than 2.2 billion people around the world.

The Roman-appointed ruler of Judea is presented as a megalomaniac bent on killing the newly-born rival “king of the Jews” in his brief but pivotal appearance in Matthew 2. In his desire to secure power by getting rid of baby Jesus, Herod orders all boys under the age of 2 years old to be killed.

Extra-biblical accounts reveal that Herod the Great was generally despised by the Jewish populace and viewed as a paranoid madman — despite his elaborate construction projects that included the illustrious Second Temple.

“Killing Jesus” has yet to air and The Christian Post does not have access to Emmy Award-winning screenwriter Walon Green’s script.

However, the book that inspired the National Geographic Channel’s production does paint its own startling portrait of a rather paranoid, and dramatically ill Herod the Great.

Killing Jesus, published in 2013 and still leading the pack of history books in various formats selling on Amazon, presents Herod the Great as “a man of sixty-nine” with “massive girth and incessant medical problems.”

The king of Judea’s medical issues include an inflamed big toe, gout, lung disease, kidney problems, worms, a heart condition, and sexually transmitted diseases. He is also affected by “a horrible version of gangrene that has caused his genitals to rot, turn black, and become infested with maggots — thus the inability to sit astride, let alone, ride a horse.”

In short, Grammer, who has described himself as a “believer,” portrays a diseased tyrant.

In addition to Herod the Great, his son, Herod Antipas, the tetrarch of Galilee and Perea, features prominently in “Killing Jesus.” Anitpas (played by actor Eoin Macken), according to the biblical account, was accosted by John the Baptist for marrying his brother Philip’s wife, and referred to as “that fox” by Jesus during his ministry.

“Killing Jesus” is the third adaption by National Geographic Channel of O’Reilly and Dugard’s work. The men previously paired up to write historical accounts of prominent presidents with Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot and Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination that Changed America Forever. Both titles have sold more than 5.6 million copies in various formats. The “Killing Kennedy” and “Killing Lincoln” productions proved successful for the cable network, with the former earning an Emmy nomination and both works emerging as National Geographic Channel’s most-watched programs ever.

Like the book, “Killing Jesus” the movie solely focuses on “the historical story of how Jesus’ message and preachings led to his persecution and execution by a group of conspirators who saw him as a threat to their power.” O’Reilly and Dugard purposely avoided taking on the spiritual significance of Jesus’ life, death and what Christians believe was Christ’s resurrection from the dead.

National Geographic Channel explains in a press release:

KILLING JESUS begins in the era of Jesus’ birth, with King Herod the Great ruling Judea, but feeling uneasy about potential threats to his power. This uneasiness leads Herod to order the murder of all boys under age 2, but a young Jesus and his family have already escaped.

Moving 26 years into the future, we follow Jesus as he starts to develop and spread his message and begins to amass a following of devout believers. At the same time, new political players, including Herod’s son, Antipas, and Roman-appointed ruler Pontius Pilate, find themselves troubled by the growing influence of Jesus, while leaders in the Jewish Temple, Caiaphas and Annas, question his teachings and methods.

To this day, the body of Jesus of Nazareth has never been found.

Jesus is played by Lebanese and Muslim-raised actor Haaz Sleiman (“The Visitor”).

Other primary cast members include: Stephen Moyer (“True Blood”) as Pontius Pilate; Rufus Sewell (“Hercules”) as Caiaphas; Emmanuelle Chriqui (“Entourage”) as Herodia; John Rhys Davies (“Indiana Jones”) as Annas; Abhin Galeya as John the Baptist; and Stephanie Leonidas (“Defiance”) as Salome. ‘Hannibal’ Season 3 News, Update: Guests Directors to Take on Final 4 Episodes

Hannibal (Photo: Facebook/ Hannibal)

Christian Post Report – Official poster of NBC’s “Hannibal.”

Recent news and update concerning the hit psychological thriller TV series “Hannibal” indicated that filming for its third season is now nearing to its end and in the matter of months, fans will finally see the return of the show to the small screen.

A report from Enstarz.com cited the official announcement made by executive producer Martha De Laurentiis in the production company’s newsletter, earlier this week.

“The HANNIBAL cast and crew head into spring with another two months of filming episodes 310-313,” the executive producer said.

“As I mentioned in last month’s newsletter, John Dahl is directing Episode 310. Preparation also is underway for Episode 311, and we are excited that Michael Rymer is back to direct!” DeLaurentiis went on to say.

Previous reports pointed out that the cast and crew were taking a short break to give way for editing and other post-production activities.

But some of the crew members went on to joke that it was really because they’re out of blood.

“Tomorrow #Hannibal begins its final push to finish shooting S3,” boom operator Sean Armstrong went to his social media over the weekend. “I think we took the two weeks off to have extra blood made.”

Meanwhile, in related plot spoiler news, fan site Hannibal Fannibals indicated in their spoiler report that based on the Red Dragon novel, the NBC show will surely see the demise of Freddie Lounds (Lara Jean Chorostecki).

“The gossip columnist is going to be the victim of the Tooth Fairy but that doesn’t mean she’s going to be dying in the next season of the show,” the site stated.

But will her death be violent like those portrayed in the books and in the movies? Fans will eventually find out when Season 3 of “Hannibal” premieres in a yet to be announced summer outing date.

‘Transformers 5’ News, Update: Can the Franchise Survive Without Director Michael Bay?

Michael Bay Steve Marcus/Reuters

Hollywood director Michael Bay at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas

Christian Post Report – New “Transformers 5” update indicated that the purported installment of the popular science fiction action series could be last for the franchise now that long-time director Michael Bay is out to helm the project.

A report from Enstarz.com cited Movie Pilot saying that the Transformers franchise “might not be able to survive without Bay.”

The 50-year-old director has been working with the robot flick ever since it started in 2007 with actors Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, and Megan Fox.

To make the matter even more complicated, the media outlet went on to indicate that the rumored “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” director Jonathan Leibesman would likely be taking over Bay’s chair.

“I didn’t think the ‘Turtles’ was that bad, but there were definitely some holes in it,” Benjamin Harrison of Movie Pilot said. He added that Liebesman “has some big shoes to fill in” and that he’s still hopeful that the outcome would be favorable for him.

As for its casting, it has already been reported that the “Age of Extinction” star Mark Wahlberg is confirmed to be onboard for the upcoming sequel. The actor went on to reveal that filming would begin soon to meet its 2016 opening date.

“Transformers: Age of Extinction” was released on June 27, 2014 and though it grossed over $1 billion in the box office, the title garnered mixed to negative reception from viewers and critics alike.
