Firefighters Grab Phones from Beachgoers to Prove a Point about Beach Safety

Firefighters Grab Phones from Beachgoers to Prove a Point about Beach Safety

How would you feel if a stranger snatched your phone right out of your hand? Odds are, you’d be angry. But after hearing the important reason these two firefighters are stealing cell phones on the beach, you may be tempted to start grabbing a few phones yourself!

Once upon a time, cell phones were just that — phones. You used them to make calls and that was it. But these days, our phones can do so much more.

Playing games, updating social media sites, reading articles, searching for just about anything under the sun — the possibilities are endless. With our phones, the world is at our fingertips.

All of that access brings convenience. But it delivers something else, too.

Distraction.

And that’s why an emergency medical service crew felt the need to get out a very important safety reminder.

Cell phones can be useful tools. But if we’re not careful, they can be dangerous, stealing our attention from more important things. Distracted driving is one of the most obvious dangers. But it’s certainly not the only risk.

That’s why, in a viral video by the Södra Älvsborg Rescue Service Association of Sweden, two firefighters are stealing cell phones on the beach!

Whenever the two men spot people staring at their phones, they march right up, snatching the device right out of the person’s hands.

Next, they direct the beachgoer’s attention…

To Whom Will Jesus Say ‘I Never Knew You’? Bible Answer Man Responds

(Screenshot: Facebook/Bible Answer Man)“Bible Answer Man” Hank Hanegraaff in a podcast on March 5, 2018.

Hank Hanegraaff, also known as the “Bible Answer Man,” tackled a question from a radio listener who said he fears Jesus’ warnings that not all who claimed to follow Him will enter Heaven.

The listener spoke of Matthew 7: 21-23 in the Bible, where Jesus says:

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'”

Another passage the listener was concerned about was John 15, where Jesus talks about how those who do not remain with Him are like a branch “thrown into the fire and burned.”

Hanegraaff, who regularly answers listeners’ questions and posts the responses on Facebook, told the man that he should not be fearful in wondering if he could be among those that Jesus is talking about.

He explained that Matthew 7 is specifically “a warning against false prophets.”

“That’s the context of the passage,” he noted, and referred to the verses proceeding the…

my relationship with Charles was one of support and respect

Extracts from correspondence between Charles and the clergyman before the latter was jailed in 2015, which have been read to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, reveal the prince sympathised with Ball after he had received a caution in 1993.

Ball, now aged 86, was too unwell to give live evidence, the inquiry heard, but he submitted a lengthy statement.

He said he had “good reasons” for wanting the letters, which he said he handed over to the Lambeth Palace library a number of years ago, to remain confidential, but did not give any detail as to what they were.

He said: “When I did so I expressed the wish that they were to remain confidential and unavailable for viewing until after the death of Prince William and Prince Harry (without going into the specific reasons why, they were good reasons).”

The now-disgraced bishop said he got to know Charles better after his divorce from Diana, Princess of Wales, and said he had known the family of the now Duchess of Cornwall.

In his witness statement, he said of Charles: “Our relationship was one of support and respect. I would strongly resist any suggestion that in some way I could bring pressure to bear on him to act on my behalf and have certainly never made a request for him to do so.”

He added: “I considered HRH to be a basically good man and a man…

Canadian Man Legally Changes Gender to Receive Lower Insurance Rate

Canadian Man Legally Changes Gender to Receive Lower Insurance Rate

A man in Canada, today, has recently changed his gender on his birth certificate in order to receive lower insurance rates.

The man, identified as “David,” from Alberta, Canada, legally changed his gender, because the car insurance rates are higher for men.

CBC reports, “According to the Insurance Bureau of Canada, men under 25 are generally at higher risk of collision than women of the same age, which means their premiums are often higher.”

Rather than pay $1,100 more for insurance, “David” took measures into his own hands: “David, who was 23 at the time, says he learned he first had to change his gender on his birth certificate and driver’s licence before he could have it reflected on his insurance policy, to get the cheaper rate,” CBC says.

After getting his doctor to write a note saying that “David” identified as a woman, a requirement at the time, he was able to change his gender legally and receive the lower insurance rate.

When his new birth certificate came in the mail, “David” was surprised: “I was quite shocked, but I was also relieved… I felt like I beat the system. I felt like I won.”

This practice of holding higher car insurance rates for men is something that has been banned in other countries. The European Union, in 2011, ruled that it “constitutes discrimination,” and is, therefore, no longer allowed to be a…

Lewis Hamilton acts like he’s Jesus

Jacques Villeneuve, who is also a TV pundit for Sky Italia, suggested that Hamilton’s Christian faith is not genuine.

“He confuses Formula One with Hollywood,” he said. “Everything he does is staged. He portrays himself on social media like he is Jesus.”

Villeneuve’s comments come after Hamilton credited God for his win at the German Grand Prix last weekend.

The four–time world champion described the outcome of the dramatic race as divine intervention from God.

“Today is one of the most unbelievable days for me because… I prayed as I always do before the race and my prayers were really answered. It freaks me out a little bit more than normal and then to see the kind of biblical storm afterwards… ” Hamilton said after his win.

“Things don’t always go the way… you throw the ball up serve and don’t always hit an ace. Today every single lap was as I planned.”

The comments did not sit well with Villeneuve who said: “The way he knelt next to his car after his problem in qualifying looked like the suffering of Christ.

“And what he said afterwards was the Sermon on the Mount. Then he gestured so dramatically on the podium that everyone could see who sent the sudden rain.”

Trump Threatens to Sanction Turkey Over Jailed Pastor

Trump Threatens to Sanction Turkey Over Jailed Pastor

President Donald Trump demanded that Turkey immediately release Pastor Andrew Brunson from house arrest. In the tersely worded tweet, the President promised “large sanctions” if Turkey did not release the “innocent man of faith.”

Turkish courts released Brunson from his 21-month imprisonment on Wednesday and placed him under house arrest because of health concerns. He will wear a monitoring bracelet until his trial resumes in October.

Turkish authorities imprisoned the longtime pastor and missionary after a failed coup attempt in 2013. They accused him of having ties to a group led by American cleric Fethullah Gulenand the Turkish Workers Party. The Turkish government considers both groups to be terrorist organizations. Brunson claims he has no ties to the group and does not take part in political activities in his pastoral work.

Trump spoke with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a meeting with NATO allies earlier this month. Trump agreed to release a Turkish citizen imprisoned in the United States in exchange for Brunson’s release. The President…

‘Blue Baby’ Gets a Miracle When Respiratory Specialist Mistakenly Walks into His Room

‘Blue Baby’ Gets a Miracle When Respiratory Specialist Mistakenly Walks into His Room

When a Kentucky couple’s baby turned blue, doctors couldn’t seem to figure out what was behind the “dead spells.” But it kept on happening and things weren’t looking good. Then a “mistake” sent a new doctor to their room.

Craig and Hannah Chaney of McKinney, Kentucky certainly didn’t have an easy road to pregnancy. At first, doctors said they’d never even be able to get pregnant. Then, when the couple proved them wrong, a car struck Hannah.

As a result of the accident, the Kentucky couple’s son, Samuel Kase Chaney, showed up early in 2015. Unfortunately, though, their troubles were far from over.

Craig and Hannah were loving life with their newborn son, Kase. But at just 2 weeks old, their baby turned blue.

The poor child cried uncontrollably, while his face went a scary shade of blue and white rimmed his mouth. Terrified, his parents rushed him to the hospital. The ER doctors transferred Kase to a University of Kentucky Pediatric Emergency Center, where all tests came back negative.

With no obvious cause for Kase’s symptoms, the hospital sent him home with a diagnosis of a virus. They gave Craig and Hannah instructions to perform sternum stimulation should he have another spell.

A few weeks later, Hannah was changing her son’s diaper and the baby turned blue in the face again and stopped breathing. Hannah got her son…

Question about God got rid of my alcoholism

The Oscar-winning star – who appeared in films including The Silence Of The Lambs, The Elephant Man and Legends Of The Fall – spoke to an audience in Los Angeles about his life and career.

The 80-year-old said he was very difficult to work with in the early stage of his career “because he was usually hung over”.

Sir Anthony added he had been “disgusted, busted and not to be trusted” while he was drinking.

The Welsh actor told how he turned his life around following a talk with a woman from Alcoholics Anonymous in December 1975.

He said the woman asked him, “why don’t you just trust in God?” and from then on the urge to drink was “never to return”.

He told the students that he can’t believe his life is the way it is now because he should have “died in Wales, drunk or something like that.”

Sir Anthony recently starred in HBO drama Westworld and will appear in the Netflix’s The Pope where he stars as Pope Benedict.

Seven Reasons People Give More to Their Church

Podcast Episode #453

SUBSCRIBE: iTunesRSSStitcherTuneIn RadioGoogle Play • iHeart Radio

Money is a subject too many pastors avoid—but they shouldn’t. It’s important to preach and teach on biblical stewardship. Today we explain seven ways that can lead to increased giving.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • Pastors shouldn’t be fearful about preaching on money or stewardship.
  • According to some studies, giving increases threefold when someone moves from attending worship only to being a part of a small group.
  • Consistent ministry involvement typically leads to greater giving involvement.
  • People no longer give due to institutional loyalty—they give because they believe in the vision.

The seven reasons we discuss are:

  1. Pastors preach about money and stewardship.
  2. People move from worship only to small groups.
  3. Members get involved in ministry.
  4. Church leadership is clear and passionate about the vision of the church.
  5. The church has multiple channels for giving.
  6. Leadership is transparent about church finances.
  7. The church is outwardly focused.
