Pennsylvania National Guard Blocks Christian Scouting Group from Touring Their Facility

Pennsylvania National Guard Blocks Christian Scouting Group from Touring Their Facility

A Pennsylvania National Guard facility refused to allow a Christian scouting group to go on a tour at their station because of their Christian faith.

According to Fox News, Trail Life USA Troop PA-2717 was denied the opportunity to tour the Fort Indiantown Gap National Guard facility – which regularly holds tours for Boy Scouts of America troops – because of their religious affiliation.

Fox News reports that the troop was originally granted permission back in February to tour the facility. Then in April, a staff sergeant contacted to Troop master and explicitly told him that the tour was no longer permissible because of the scouting group’s religious foundation.

Reportedly, this prompted Trail Life USA – a Christian scouting group created as an alternative to the Boy Scouts – to contact First Liberty Institute and the Independence Law Center. Both law groups specialize in religious liberty cases.

“Fort Indiantown Gap’s denial of access to the base facilities, which are open to other civic, fraternal, and youth organizations and for youth activities, constitutes viewpoint discrimination,” the law firms wrote to the National Guard in a joint letter.

The groups also noted in the letter that the decision was also blatantly “discriminatory and unconstitutional.”

According to a statement on Trail Life USA’s website, chairman of…

Palestinians Discover New Baptismal Font in Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem

Palestinians Discover New Baptismal Font in Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem

Palestinian officials believe they have discovered a new baptismal font in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.

According to the Associated Press, the head of a Palestinian presidential committee Ziad al-Bandak noted that the Church of the Nativity – known as the place traditionally believed to be where Jesus was born – is currently undergoing extensive renovations and restoration.

Reportedly, the font, which is believed to be from the 5thor 6thcentury was covered by another water receptacle and was discovered during the renovation process.

“Another circular baptismal font was discovered hidden inside the existing octagonal baptismal font,” al-Bandak said, before calling the discovery “magnificent,” the Times of Israel reports.

Al-Bandak also noted that he was unsure of why it was covered, but that it appeared to have been built one to two hundred years after the church, which is believed to have been erected in the 4thCentury.

He said, “Nobody knows why it has been covered and put in this place and never written in any historical book about it, either in the Church or in the historical books. This is for sure a baptism font from the 6th, maybe 6th or 5th century,” CBN News reports.

Al-Bandak has shared that international experts will be examining the newly discovered baptismal font. He believes the discovery of the receptible will…

Fulani Radicals Burn Down 4 Villages, Kill 3 Kids in Latest String of Attacks on Christians in Kaduna

Fulani Radicals Burn Down 4 Villages, Kill 3 Kids in Latest String of Attacks on Christians in Kaduna

Fulani radicals killed more than a dozen people, including three children in West Africa’s Middle Belt on Monday.

According to the Christian Post, radicals burned down hundreds of homes in the area and killed 13 people, some of whom were Christians, many of whom were living in Christian villages.

In one village in Kaduna, residents told reporters that about 200 armed Fulani herdsmen invaded their village.

Of the 13 total killed, four were Christians, including an 8-year-old, 9-year-old and a 17-year-old.

“They were all buried today after a brief prayer at the grave site,” resident Thomas John told Morning Star News.

A resident of Kikoba estimated that some 90 homes had belonged in Christians in the village.

In another village, a church of the Evangelical Church Winning All denomination and a Catholic church were both burned down.

The publicity secretary for the Miango Development Association, Lawrence Zongo, said all farms in the area were also destroyed.

“Presently, all the villagers are displaced,” he said.

Public relations officer for the Kaduna Police Command Yakubu Sabo said the attacks happened about 2:45 p.m. Monday.

“Teams of policemen quickly moved to the area, evacuated the dead bodies to the hospital and ensured that the situation was brought under control,” Sabo said.

Sabo added that the…

Church Offers Hope and Healing to Jail Inmates

Church Offers Hope and Healing to Jail Inmates

Correctional officers in a county Illinois jail are marveling at the change they see in their inmates after a church stepped in with services.

“We have a quieter atmosphere,” Jasper County Sheriff Patrick Williamson told WLFI-TV. “In times past, you would hear banging, kicking, yelling, screaming, but now it’s very quiet. They get along well, they treat staff better, so we have less incidents. It just complements the other things going on in our jail.”

First Church in Wheatfield, Illinois, started their prison ministry with their pastor John Hill, who worked with the jail on an addiction recovery house for men. When that initiative yielded successful results, Williamson invited the church into the jail.

Every Thursday, Faithful volunteers visit for a weekly service with chairs, sound equipment and doughnuts in hand.

Anthony Gann, an inmate arrested for drug use, has seen the powerful positive effects of the services. “It’s awesome to get to have that real church experience while we are in here doing our time,” he said. “Some of the best guys I know are in here.”

In only three months, the jail has noticed a big change. “The corrections officers have talked about how the entire culture of the jail has shifted,” Hill said. “The inmates are caring for one another and actually thinking about life beyond bars.”

In a video First Church shared on Facebook, nine…

Vatican women’s football team cancels debut match after pro-choice protest

Several of the players and supporters from Austrian team FC Mariahilf lifted their jerseys to expose diagrams of female reproductive organs and slogans such as “My body, my rule”.

The Vatican team made up of female staff plus wives and daughters of men working at the Holy See, walked off the pitch as the Vatican anthem was played before the umpire abandoned the match before the whistle was even blown.

“The game was called off because we are here for the sport, and not for political or other messages”, Danilo Zennaro, a representative of the Vatican sports association, told public broadcaster ORF.

The Pope made headlines last month when he compared having an abortion to “hiring a hitman”.

A day before the match, the pontiff highlighted the Church’s stance on abortion and told an international association of Catholic doctors that they were called to “respect the gift of life from its beginning to its end”.

The Vatican team made its debut in May and lost 10-0 to AS Roma’s female youth team.

Rhode Island Signs Law Permitting Abortions up to Birth

Rhode Island Signs Law Permitting Abortions up to Birth

On Wednesday, Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo signed the Reproductive Privacy Act into law, allowing late-term abortions on unborn babies, including part-birth and dismemberment abortions.

According to the Christian Post, the bill states, “Neither the state, or any of its agencies, or political subdivisions shall restrict an individual person from preventing, commencing, continuing, or terminating that individual’s pregnancy prior to fetal viability.” The bill states that late-term abortions are only allowed when necessary if the mother’s life or health is at risk.

The Catholic governor claimed signing the bill shortly after it was approved by the Rhode Island General Assembly was the “right thing to do.”

“When this bill becomes law, women and their families across Rhode Island will be free from the fear that the reproductive health care they need today will be illegal tomorrow,” Raimundo said. “We owe this certainty to every Rhode Island woman – and the bill before me today provides exactly that.”

LifeNews called into question the broad term of “health” of the mother, which could qualify for any situation. And, Barth Bracy, executive director of the Rhode Island Right to Life Committee, called the new legislation a “New York-style abortion expansion bill.”

“These powers and principalities of the General Assembly have now completely…

American footballer tells his 1m followers about ‘life changing’ baptism in River Jordan

Watson shared a powerful image with the caption: “Got Baptized in the River Jordan.

“Went tubing in the Sea of Galilee. Took a trip through Mary Magdalene’s hometown. Saw the first church in (Capernaum). Life changing experiences – major blessings!”

The US sportsman was one of several celebrities and political leaders that were invited to take a trip to Israel by an organistation called America’s Voices in Israel, in an effort to “bolster Israel’s image in the United States”.

“This is a part of the world which gets a lot of attention internationally, and this is a chance for me to look beyond the headlines and learn more about the history and culture of this land,” Watson told ABC news.

“I have been blessed to visit many countries around the world, but the chance to visit the Holy Land, see the sites and meet the people of this special place, truly is a special blessing and an amazing opportunity.”

Pastor Devon Franklin and actress Meghan Good also travelled to Israel with the organisation in December 2016.

Sweden Bans Government Employees from Praying at Work

Sweden Bans Government Employees from Praying at Work

A municipal council in Sweden has passed a set of controversial new guidelines which prohibit government employees from praying during working hours.

The new rules, which were invoked in the coastal town of Bromölla by politicians from the Sweden Democrats Party, according to regional newspaper Kristianstadsbladet.

“In the regulation, we have cut out everything which could be interpreted as saying that you can take time off to pray during work time,” Chairman Eric Berntsson, told The Local. “Both we and the Moderates and the Christian Democrats thought that the regulations should be more precise.”

Berntsson insisted that the new rules were not dissimilar from employers cracking down on employees who take unnecessary time away from work for things such as smoking. He also noted that the ban was not applicable to any singular religion, but was instead a blanket policy for all faiths.

Shockingly, the new policy will apply to schools, nursing homes and council offices among other state-affiliated facilities.

Officials were also keen to point out that the guidelines will not affect the current break schedule allotted to staff members, but will mean that they are not allowed to take a single moment out of their working day for the express purpose of praying.

While many argue that the ban is a blatant violation of religious freedom, others argue that employees should be free to work…
